Went into San Marco tonight and had an excellent experience. Jessie was our server and he was excellent. Jessie was very polite, knowledgeable, and attentive. Kathy, the owner of the restaurant came by our table and asked how our food was and was very friendly, we enjoyed our conversation with her. The ambiance was perfect. We listened to the local guitarist Chuck, who was playing at the restaurant and we enjoyed his music. To end the night perfectly, we loved the limoncello cake and banana crepe dish. Food was delicious and the server was great. The only complaint was what they charged for Jack Daniel's on the rocks. The list price was $12 dollars then they added $2 dollars for the focks and anther $2 dollar for premium Jack bring the total cost to $16 dollars total for 2 Jack on rocks $32.00 dollars. I called ahead a few days and made a reservation for 8 and 5:00. When you have a large group, it's common for one person to be less than happy with their meal. Not necessarily disliking their dinner, but feeling it was less than exceptional. This was not the case. Almost everyone ordered something different and were very please with the taste, quality and presentation of their dinner. So much so that we all ordered desserts. Thank you to the staff (including the chef) for a wonderful dining experience. The service was on point with the server checking to make sure our meal was perfectly prepared and our drinks were refilled. Overall it was a wonderful dining experience. We will be back. Service was rude and uninviting, food was good. We were questioned by the hostif we had reservations and told we might be able to be seated, when half the restaurant was empty. Mind you this was a Monday afternoon. We ended up getting a booth in the bar and the staff seemed disappointed we didn't order alcohol and were displeased we asked for more water. Haven't been here in a while. Was my wife's birthday and she decided on San Marco. We started with the minestrone soup. One of the best Ive ever tasted. For her main course she had the Pappardelle macaroni with Bolognese sauce ,another winner. I had the Lasagna wasn't a fan of the sauce. Too tomatoey for my taste. Needed some sugar or chocolate added to the sauce. Portions were good size and prices had gone up quite a bit from our last visit. Service was excellent! They bought the building next door so you aren't as squeezed in. They also have outdoor seating. Pretty plain Jane inside decor. read more

Visited San Marco with some family friends and enjoyed a delicious meal in a comfy, but authentic-feeling environment. Our party of 5 shared the stuffed banana peppers (highly recommend Gorgonzola sauce), bruschetta, and carpaccio for appetizers, and we all got different pasta entrees. My shrimp vodka sauce gnocchi was delicious and perfectly cooked, as were the rest of the pasta types. The entree portions are huge, so although the pricing is a bit high, you definitely won't leave hungry. The service was friendly and quick, although the young servers did seem a bit overwhelmed during the dinner rush on a Sunday night. Nonetheless, we had a great meal!! read more

We waited for our food for a LONG time 2/13/2026 So long that i was afraid to bother ordering a drink with my meal as i had intended (thought it would show up when we would be leaving) Had an asparagus caprese salad that had no caprese (4 cute little dollops of cheese on tops, but hardly should be called a caprese), then the Cioppino which was delicious however it was served with the skinning soft shell crab legs and didn't have the tools to eat them. They gave us mini PLASTIC forks that would definitely break, and then they brought us a huge king crab leg walnut-looking cracker that wouldn't have done a dang thing to the skinning little crab legs we were given. The waitress disappeared for long periods of time but at least she was blonde and smiley so she's got that going for her. I asked the hostess for extra napkins, it also took her forever and she brought one. As a foodie, I'd give it an overall 5/10, with the delicious flavor of the cioppino bringing that average up. My mom thought it was too spicy though. I shared all these concerns with the manager and she said she would take them into consideration. (Uh, huh ). We had a recommendation for another Italian restaurant but it doesn't open until 5PM. Just a 200 feet away was this Gem! We were able to get a table outside and enjoy the nice breeze. We ordered blackberry margaritas and decided on our food. The waitress was very friendly and attentive. We ordered and the food arrived quickly. Their food was amazing. We had the eggplant stack for an appetizer. It was very tasty and a great start. We also had the bruschetta. The whole thing was covered with super thick balsamic dressing that made it pop! The entree was a butternut squash ravioli in a butter sauce which was equally scrumptious. We are so glad that the other place wasn't open yet and that we found San Marco's. An Enchanting Evening at San Marco in Downtown Venice Our recent dinner at San Marco was nothing short of delightful. The cool evening air made dining outdoors a perfect choice, and we were seated at a cozy high-top table near a heater. Although our initial table was slightly wobbly, we moved to another, and the staff ensured our comfort throughout the evening. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and polite. While the staff were quite young and not entirely familiar with the nuances of each dish, they approached every request with grace and friendliness. Our meal began with freshly baked focaccia-style bread, served with olive oil and spices. The bread was irresistibly soft and flavorful, a perfect start to the evening. For our appetizer, we chose the Stuffed Banana Peppers, filled with fresh mozzarella and salami, finished with a decadent Gorgonzola cheese sauce. The rich, savory flavors of the dish were exceptional. We couldn't resist using the bread to soak up every drop of the sauce. Though a spoon would have been helpful, when I mentioned this to our waiter, he promptly explained it is typically served with one and offered to bring it--though by then, we were nearly finished. For our entrées, both my boyfriend and I selected the Seabass special, which was a true highlight of the evening. The dish featured fresh seabass nestled over a medley of simmered artichokes, spinach, tomatoes, black olives, and capers in a light tomato broth. Its flavors evoked the essence of a refined Mediterranean fish stew, perfectly balanced and utterly satisfying. A spoon was requested again to enjoy the broth fully. I regret leaving my leftovers at his house--though my boyfriend later confirmed they were just as delightful the next day! We paired our meal with two beautifully crafted cocktails: one cucumber-infused and the other coconut-flavored. Both were refreshing and sophisticated, enhancing the dining experience. Although we were too full for dessert, I'll make it a point to indulge on our next visit. Our evening at San Marco was truly memorable. From the inviting ambiance to the thoughtfully prepared dishes and attentive service, everything came together seamlessly. We live full-time in Venice now and have tried many restaurants. Last night we ate at San Marco and can definitely say that we will not be returning. My crab cake appetizer was just okay but not worth $25 for one crab cake. My wife and I attempted to share a main course which was a broiled seafood combination which was outrageously priced at $50. It was so bad that neither one of us could eat it. The shrimp, scallops, grouper, and lobster were swimming in a pool of what appeared to be butter and oil and everything tasted horrible and was too chewy. What really brought me to leaving a one star review is my drink. About the only thing I drink is a certain liqueur which makes me very familiar with the taste and consistency since it is straight out of the bottle. I ordered the same thing at San Marco and not only was the appearance lighter in color but the taste was not as strong as it should be. Since this was supposed to be straight out of the bottle I will leave you to your own conclusion as I certainly have my own suspicion. We will definitely not be returning. read more

I catered from San Marco for Super Bowl this year. When I got to the restaurant at the assigned time to pick up my order it was not ready. They had mistakenly put the order in for the wrong day. Jeff the owner went out of his way offering other options for me in addition to what I ordered. He added chicken Marsala and a delicious antipasto salad for and added more to my original order of meatballs and eggplant. He also offered me and my friend a glass of wine while we waited for him to complete the order. What could have been a disaster turned into a great experience. Had my first goof Italian meal in Florida. Let me be clear, it's also the second time trying Venice is a great neighborhood to walk, shop and eat. This restaurant had some great fresh pasta dishes, cooked al dente!! I wasn't a fan of Mamas Meatball App. To be honest, it sound great on the menu but came very short of expectations. All entrees were delicious, from pastas to seafood. Service was fantastic, very attentive and we never wondered if they were coming back to check in us. Absolutely perfect! Great ambience-bustling,but still got cheerful and excellent service from staff! We really appreciated this because we had a party of 9 people (made reservations! Otherwise there would be no way to get seated on a very busy Saturday night!!) Our group loves food,and had questions about some of the entrees-and we were impressed with the hospitality of the staff when explaining the different menu options... There are many Italian restaurants located in a small area in Venice, this one is definitely the best one in town. It's a small place with an open kitchen just the way I like it. Decided to splurge alittle. Took the family and my aunt out to eat, whom I haven't seen in 6 years. Place already spelled that it wasn't cheap. Not extremely pricey, but can still hit your wallet alittle. Service overall was good. Server was attentive and made sure our needs were being met. Food overall, I say was standard. The highlight for me was the house bread with the olive oil dip. I could of ate that all day. I had the spaghetti with class, which was actually pretty good. My wife didn't care for the huge meatball dish. Not enough flavor. For a special occasion, I would probably go here again. The pros are more than the cons. read more

Loved every moment. We sat in the bar at a table for 4 in the front window on the bar side. (Note: We had made reservations in advance ~ important!) Our waitress greeted us warmly and quickly. Our drinks were drinks! Perfectly concocted and beautifully displayed. Our appetizer - zucchini flowers - an absolute Italian Delicacy and made to perfection! All of our entrees were top notch. No leftovers here! Seafood Cioppino filled to the brim with fresh plump seafood in a beautiful broth. Spaghetti with clams ~ soaked up the sauce with bread - perfection. Chicken Scaloppine was so flavorful! And then, the Rigatoni with short ribs out of this world. To top it off we shared their Tiramisu - decadent! The musician was exceptional. Think about it: It's the height of tourist season, and the restaurant is perfectly located on Venice island's main street. They can get away with high prices and -- sorry to say -- very average food. The bread, certainly photo-worthy, was nothing special. Salads were .... salads! Again, nothing special. What I did like were San Marco's sauces. The lemon caper sauce on my chicken scallopini was very tasty. Everything else... merely okay. Thin cuts of chicken were tough, vegetables bland (particularly the string beans) and several of my potatoes were charred, I don't think intentionally. My husband enjoyed the seafood on his risotto. (A real overload of rice.) And our friend was happy with her spinach and cheese-filled ravioli. Again -- the sauce was great. Based on the website, there's house wine for $24 a bottle. Not when we were there! So we passed. San Marco takes reservations. (Our friend who lives locally, said that's not typical of the area.) Visiting family down here from Pittsburgh, excited to try a new spot! The start to our dining experience wasn't the best, as the hostess up front was rude to our party because she didn't know our reservation specifications. Told us to follow her, lead us in the restaurant and then she walked through the front door and left us. Thankfully we weren't going to let that sway our night. The server was AMAZING. I wish I could tell you her name but she did a fabulous job dealing with us. I like the vibe of the restaurant but it is small, I think it'd be cool to sit outside though. The food made up for everything though. I started with a Caesar salad and had the lasagna which is bigger than it looks- but oh my if I had the strength to finish it I would have because it was to die for. I made everyone else give reviews of their food and nobody was disappointed! 10/10 would come back again, hopefully the hostess is in a better mood. read more

After being asked how we enjoyed our meal, we commented that while we really liked the spaghetti, the pappardelle had an overwhelming amount of peas . Let me start with the positives, we were seated near our reservation time, and the lobster was properly prepared. Renovation/expansion is bright but I miss the intimacy of the old San Marco. Now for the negatives: Wait staff for the most part young and NOT trained for service in a finer establishment. Waiter let me taste wine, and as I approved poured the first glass to me and not my wife. That's a no no Some tables had white linens most did not, huh? Waiter literally did nothing but coldly take our order. I ordered the most expensive meal of filet and lobster tails. My steak was most definitely NOT a filet, but a sirloin. When the "manager" stopped by she took a plate from our table and bumped my wife who was sipping red wine (first glass I might add). She spilled the wine as a result of the bump by the manager. The manager said its time for someone to have a sippy cup, did not clean up the spill and walked away. Rude is an understatement Appetizer (peppers) were served cold. Personally i did not like the new atmosphere. I won't be back and reconsider visiting here. There are MUCH better options everywhere in this area. read more

So close to 5 stars! I just had hoped my dish would have been more special and unique, BUT it was still very good! It was the TAGLIATELLE AL SUGO Di CARNE. I was however happily surprised and impressed they had gluten free pasta available. Just a few doors down at Cassariano they do not have GF pasta. So big difference there! My husband had the lasagna and I couldn't resist trying a few bites. Now that was a memorable dish...the combo of cheeses was perfection and a little different than I've had before. I absolutely LOVED the unique feature of having only Italian red wines on the menu (not sure about whites). Just made it feel more like a genuine Italian experience and a great and easy way to try types of wine I've never heard of. The server was incredibly polite and helpful and the style of service was very formal and done well (I.e. always serving on the right or whatever the rule is!)
