No longer open. Closed a while ago. Used to be a hoot though! Boxed wine was quite terrible.

Went there about 2 weeks ago. No door on the bathroom, just beads. He told me I was not a woman even though my daughter was with me.

Teddy should be the mayor of Venice. The bar is tiny but if you want something different, you have found your place. It is self service so go ahead and go behind the bar and get you a glass of wine or beer. Everything must be poured in a glass because who doesn't want to look fancy. Am I right? Have a seat and get ready to be blessed. The German Shepherd will show up at 10 pm. Teddy takes a 5 minute break to walk him and let him do his business. Make sure you pay Teddy as you leave. You know what you had so don't cheat. If you're lucky, Teddy may let you join in on the cowbell. read more

Teddy's After Dark Wine Bar - Teddy will sometimes ask people to assist. - Wine Bars Near Me - Venice, Florida

Had a great time, Teddy is hilarious but I warn you! He does NOT like loud talkers or disrespectful people in his bar. Several east coast types were there while I was last visiting and he set them straight! It was rather humerus to watch the arrogance wash from their faces. You can talk laugh and have a great time, just don't yell and try to out talk everyone or use foul language...difficult task for a lot of people on the East coast. It's an absolute must if you want a good laugh and listen to Teddys hilarious stories read more

Don't miss Teddys if you're ever in the Venice area but get there early because it fills up quickly. Teddy's doesn't serve food but they do have beer and wine that you get for yourself and pay on your way out. Very clean and eclectic. Teddy is very particular about who he allows in so please bring your manners and enjoy yourself. read more

One other reviewer reviewed it to a tee; "OMG, just go!" Animatronics everywhere and Teddy is so very charming and has a good voice when he sings too! Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The wine is graciously brought to you by Teddy himself and he's very generous with his servings. Love it when he points to the sign that says "I wrote that." Go and you'll know what I mean! A true hidden gem in Venice. read more

Teddy's After Dark is, to me, a perfect, intimate, romantic, musical, Florida-decor wine bar, just around the corner from the famed Venice Theater. If you like friendly people in a casual, small (15 seats) bar offering music standards from multiple generations, both recorded and those sung by talented owner Teddy James, by all means enjoy this Venice secret. From his years of entertaining he knows a ton of tunes and the composer of every single one - just ask him! The microphone is on a long cord, so you can sing too. The decor is artistically Florida (by Teddy) with perfect lighting. The wine list is short but respectable and you get a generous pour at a reasonable price. Many of us know Teddy and his faithful, gentle German Shepherd, Diesel, from the famous Venice dog beach and we are happy to have Diesel as part of our crowd at the bar. Teddy's After Dark is open seven nights a week from 7:00PM until the last customer goes out with the tide. Cash only for now. read more

Great little gem in the area! We stumbled upon this wine bar on vacation and loved it. Small intimate bar, seats 20 or so? We will definitely be back whenever we are in the area. read more

What a jerk. "Keep it down, this is a small place ". No kidding. I've been there before and had a good time. If you are willing to be an a-hole to a small group that was just having a good time in your establishment, you must not need the business. It's your prerogative to choose your customers. It's mine to not recommend your place to the HUNDREDS of visitors that stay at our place of business each year. Never again. read more

A must experience! It as if you got out of the DeLorean after drving 80 miles an hour( ref to Back to the Future), while on edibables. Teddy is a nice gentle man who resides in an unknown part of the universe, A great deal of loving care h as been put into putting this place together. Gets very crowded as place is small. Be sure to stop in at the gift shop on the 4th floor and purchase his newly released album that comes with an 8 track tape read more

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing! Go here for great conversation and atmosphere. It's the closest to home you'll get on the island.

Loved this place. Seriously the nicest people you could meet in Venice. My husband and I bought a second home here in Venice 5 years ago. We finally made it to Teddy's. I love Teddy and Chrissy. Frankie made an appearance and was amazing. If you are a happy, positive, friendly person, you'll LOVE this place. read more

Great little (I mean small) local bar Chrissy is a doll of a server. They have beer and wine only and Teddy great guy tells funny stories and sings the old great songs karaoke style . The owner is pretty strange, walked into the bar and didn't even get in ten feet before he kicked my girlfriend and I out. For having a hat on , it really didn't look like a fancy place to have such a dress code.. read more

Teddy's is like going to your neighbor's house and having some drinks and a few laughs. Definitely for a more close-quarter mood. And it's the perfect nitecap place if you're bar-hopping in downtown historic Venice....which in the last year is getting much better! read more

We love this place! SO entertaining... If you have a shred of a sense of humor, your are guaranteed a great time. Marginal wine & beer selection but that is part of the appeal. Come early to get a hood seat and stay till closing for all the antics! Teddy is a gem read more

Wow. Thought the bad comments were just naysayers but Teddy is very odd and is extremely uncomfortable to be around. My wife and i really wanted to check this place out but when we walked in Teddy said we didn't meet dress code. Thight he was kidding at first. We were dressed very average for a cool evening in Florida and he couldn't tell us HOW we didnt meet his code other than we we dressed beachy!? Very strange. Nobody at all in the bar and weird security cameras everywhere. The woman behind him kept indicated behind his back that he is just kidding but he never let us in. We were banned. She was as shocked as we were. I think she works there. Tiny little place with a psychotic owner. I suggest staying far away. read more

Chairs nailed to the floor. Charge per person/chair not per drink. Rudest service ever received!

Our favorite place when we are in town. In fact, we will be there Sat night. Reminds me of Cheers, "where everyone knows your name," because you have to introduce yourself when you walk in and you talk to everyone there. Just a fun, querky, inexpensive place to go for middle aged folks! read more
