First time dining in. I've done pizza take out a few years ago. I think it's headed a bit downhill. We ordered calamari and it was not great. Pretty overcooked and chewy. The charcuterie was better but tough to mess this up. I had the Quattro pizza. It was super soft and really not that great, super floppy and just ok. The soup was meh. Friends had pasta and said it was pretty good. We had a group that hasn't seen each other in over a year. Being a server is hard but you have to understand when to break in and when not too. Ours was nice but always seemed to be interrupting a story. I get it, but this is an art. I just don't see us going back, there are so many better places. read more

Napule is an independent Italian restaurant featuring top quality ingredients and delicious entrees. I have been dining Napule for a while, and the service has always been top notch. The dining areas are on the main floor with also an outdoor patio and a small upstairs area. What I love about this restaurant is you can see the cooks making your entrees. This is really appealing when you view your pizza in their wood fire oven. We tried their meatball appetizer which was a chef special, and you see from my picture there were three meatballs in a tasty red sauce topped with mozzarella and a fresh basil leaf. It was a great addition to our meal. I also recommend the Semplice salad and grilled salmon which is a good size portion with arugula and lettuce topped with carrots, radicchio and layered with shaved Parmesan cheese. Don't expect dressing as they serve olive oil and balsamic vinegar at your table. Another favorite dish is the cod filet sautéed with capers, onions, and olives which is served with potatoes and broccoli. If you're in the Sarasota area and want a clean and delicious Italian dinner Napule is a great choice. read more

We recently dined at Napulé again for a family member's dinner. This restaurant is valet-only due to the limited real estate then have but they make it work very well. The valet was efficient and pleasant. Now to the food: The bread service basket had a medley of bread and carbs and they were enjoyed by all. We had a vegetable appetizer which was very tasty. I selected the cod fish dinner accompanied by mashed potatoes and broccoli which was nicely prepared. My daughter ate all the creamy mashed potatoes, she is a big fan. My daughter had some fresh pasta which she happily ate. The other diners in our party had selections from the specials menu which were quite nice and enjoyed. For the birthday treat we were kindly presented with a birthday cannoli which had excellent flavor. Our server was on top of refilling our water carafe and was all-around attentive. We stopped here with our grandchildren and their parents. The kids weren't happy with their dishes of rigatoni and meat sauce. My pizza was great. My wife liked her lasagna and the kids parents liked their prosciutto pizza. We had a reservation for 7 and weren't seated until 7:30. Not good when you have young children. Service was great. You had me at pizza! I was searching for delicious pizza and after scrolling through many reviews of Italian restaurants, the picture of Napulé's pizza drew me in. I made this place the location of my first meal once I arrived to Siesta. And I was not disappointed. The staff are very friendly and provide fantastic service. As I sat and observed at the bar, I saw many people coming in and out ordering pizza and frequent patrons speaking highly of the food and especially the pizza! The Caesar salad was delicious as well. I love the taste of (quality) anchovies in dressing as well as the twist on the croutons with polenta. The cocktails were perfectly made. Also try the gelato- the vanilla was surprisingly one of the best vanillas gelatos I've had. If you like coffee, try making it an affogato by adding espresso to your vanilla gelato. Came here by recommendation from my neighbor who is from Italy. She knew that i am critical of Italian food being Italian and from NY. Well, this place knocked my socks off. I had to pick my jaw up from the floor when the Fritto de Strada appetizer was delivered. From there it got even better with the pistachio Pappardelle. My wife got the roasted lamb and that was cooked to perfection. Never in a million years did I think one of my best Italian meals would be in Florida. When my neighbor said it's the place that most reminds her of home, I knew I had to try it. So glad we did. The servicer was great. She was fun and we enjoyed talking to her about her home country after we were done. They even gave me a small cake for my birthday. It was just awesome. read more

Sarasota is such an interesting town. It's like a suburb, yet with its own charm. Napule is a find. It's on the far southern edge of Sarasota. Driving up it's clear this is a swanky place. It was packed to the brim, and the only way to park is via valet. Inside the dining room is inviting with a fun and festive atmosphere. We had a large party and we were seated in a family style table. Our waitstaff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Our bread basket and water glasses were always full. As for the food, it was a mix. For appetizers we got the large meat and cheese board which featured their in-house charcuterie and cheeses. The charcuterie was out of this world. We could not get enough of the prosciutto and salame. The cheeses were good, but not very strong. We also got the sautéed octopus. It was ok. We were not impressed too much though for a $20 appetizer. Many of us ordered the Mezze maniche allo scoglio, which is a rigatoni with a seafood mix with a tomato white wine sauce. My brother ordered the Grigliata Mista Di Carne. It included a lamb chop, sausage, and NY Strip with roasted potatoes and broccoli on a sizzling plate. The seafood pasta was ok. The sauce lacked pop...not enough white wine! It tasted like they missed the last minute seasoning in the pan with the white wine deglaze. The seafood was nice and fresh. My brother let me try his meats, and they were definitely better than my seafood! Well seasoned and perfectly grilled. We finished off with gelato, and it was to die for. The strawberry gelato was the best I have ever had with fresh strawberries - full of flavor with an ultra smooth finish. This is in comparison to the best gelato from NYC and Seattle! When we return I'll definitely focus on the charcuterie and a meat dish, skip the pasta, and maybe try their Neopolitan pizza. And of course, GELATO!! read more

If I needed to guide foodies through Sarasota, this would be lunch rather than dinner. Outside on the patio. Why you ask... Lunch offers a bunch of non traditional foods, as well as a buncha pizzas. A good wine list. It's quieter and more relaxed. There's a nice bar with six seats if you want just a bar seat or a drink while you wait. Staff is friendly and attentive. Dinner, in high season, is busy. Super busy. Noisy too. The main dining room is lofted ceilings with rows of tables. The loft above looks more relaxed but the staff has to climb the stairs so be kind! Menu offers a great variety, and the food is good. I can see how folks love it. However, service is not super fast and the loudness makes it hard to sit and enjoy the food. Next time, I probably would just order a pizza to go and sit on the beach to enjoy instead of sitting in a very loud place. But yes it is recommended if you like thin crust pizzas. read more

The shaved Parmesan cheese was loaded on the salad. If you added a protein to this salad it could suffice as a dinner. For my main course, I opted for lamb chops. The three juicy and perfectly grilled chops were cooked to my liking and seasoned perfectly. The accompanying roast potatoes were flavorful and the rapini added nicely to the dish. A friend recommended we try this gem and we are glad they did. Now that most snow birds have left, the drive was easy from Longboat Key. This popular restaurant is busy and has a feel of Boston's North End. The bar is floor to ceiling and a black and white movie is playing on a large screen so if there is a lull in the conversation, you can engage in another medium. The food is beautifully prepared- my caprice salad was a work of art and melted in my mouth. My homemade pasta was in a simple tomato,basil and olive oil dressing and I forgot to capture it on my phone. The gelato dessert was very tasty and the bill for all three of us was very reasonable. If you are a tourist, you MUST come to Napule for dinner! You'll start your evening off with complimentary fresh bread and a delicious eggplant spread, and enjoy some witty repartee with your Italian-speaking waitstaff. We ordered old fashioneds and whiskey sours to start off. I HIGHLY recommend the house whiskey sour, it was so well-balanced and pretty. Their wood-fired pizzas were phenomenal.. we shared their margherita pizza as an appetizer (pro-move to order pizza as an app! ahah), and a week later I am finding myself still daydreaming about it. For our entrees we ordered veal piccata (perfectly lemony and served alongside the best kale I've had, and roasted potatoes), the special which was salmon ravioli (served in a powerfully flavorful seafoody cream sauce), and the pesto gnocchi which was to die for. The tiramisu is the only item I wouldn't recommend, it was a bit too small and too chocolatey (I think they sacrificed taste and size for aesthetic). They have a beautiful little outdoor patio, a long bar, and 2 floors tucked into their little haven, and played old Italian film clips on a large screen in the dining room. This was by far the best dinner of our 2 week trip, and I cannot wait to come back next time I'm in town! read more

I really wanted to enjoy it, but no matter how much I tried, everything tasted bland and unremarkable, especially considering the wealth of incredible mom-and-pop Italian spots in the area. Also, keep in mind it's valet-only, which might be a consideration for some. Overall, while it's a nice spot to relax with a good drink, I wouldn't return just for the food. read more

Very nice server. Very soft spoken in very loud noisy chatter. I ordered the Linguine in white clam sauce. Bad choice. Not much flavor/seasoning. That wasn't the worst part... the "clams" were.VERY tiny.. the shill size of a dime and you could fit 20 of them on a teaspoon. Spent my first 15-20min digging them out of linguine with the "sauce" consisting of ... oil. No clam juice what so ever. A few dishes on menu sound interesting but I grew up in restaurant and not thinking I would chance their seasoning skills given the dish I had. My lady had the Lasagna.... Looked like a blob on a plate .... Nothing like the Lasagna I know. Seems this place has high ratings so at least I'd stay away from those two dishes. Since the Rays' home game waylayed plans to eat in St. Pete, the opportunity to revisit Napule arose. We arrived without reservations by 6pm on a Saturday and were fortunate to be quickly seated at the pizza bar in front of the impressive oven and talented pizza chef. A basket of fresh bread and eggplant antipasti quickly arrived for us to enjoy with our cocktails while we waited for our appetizers. Ask for the spicy oil to spice up the bread. Service is consistently friendly and accommodating, efficient for the volume too. I love that they offer pizza marinara that does not have cheese on it. The fried calamari rings with shrimp and chips (?) were yummy. It brought back memories of all the yummy fried street food in Rome. The accompanying aioli was unexciting and an odd addition. Hubby added anchovies to his shareable Ceasar salad. My pizza was amazing as always and great fun to watch its creation. Hubby's cacio e pepe (not on the menu) was large but disappointing in taste. I guess it is famous in Rome but not so much in Naples! Still a great people watching place. Go for the appetizers and pizza. Had a few recommendations to try this place and wound up pretty disappointed. We were able to snag a reservation on a busy Saturday night. Took an Uber but have others have said this is a tiny parking lot. It was raining so absolute cluster getting in and out. Were seated out on the patio which is probably nice on a clear night, damp and cold in the rain and had to ask them to close the awning - no patio heater was on. Sat for 30 minutes before getting our first drink, appetizer came and went and we still waited. Manager came by and said he would comp the round, never saw him again so that never happened. Took another 20 to get second drink, server was nice but appeared to be managing a lot of tables so very little attention. Food was meh. I returned here for another dinner meal. For an appetizer, the taglieri trio ($19.95) and seafood salad (17.95) were ordered. The trio was a special that contained a stuffed fried zucchini flower with ricotta and served with prosciutto and caponata. This was very good. The zucchini was soft and stuffed with the ricotta while the caponata was a nice complement to the fresh prosciutto. The seafood salad was marinated in lemon dressing with various forms of fish such as clams, calamari, octopus, shrimp, and mussels. It was solid. There were a few fishy pieces and more olive oil was needed, but overall, appetizing dish with plenty of each type of fish. I had the gnocchi with pesto and homemade sausage ($21.95) as an entrée. This was tremendous. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked, and the pesto was creamy. The sausage crumbles were tasty too, but I would have liked to see a little more present. I also tried the ravioli special. It was stuffed with burrata cheese and topped with a few pistachio crumbles and a balsamic glaze. They were large raviolis and stuffed appropriately. Not that impressed There were a couple of areas where I thought it could have been better, the restaurant was packed, and my food wasn't as good as I would have liked. After reading other reviews I anticipated we would have to use valet parking. That's not a great start for me, I'm ok with having the option to valet park, which for me is never, not so much forced into it. There is no charge, but I feel obligated to give a tip. We were not able to secure a reservation beforehand but were told if we got there early they could probably accommodate us, and they did. The restaurant is a big room with tables lined up about as close together as possible and still have narrow pathways to get around. Our table was outside where tables were not crammed together, we just had to negotiate one of these narrow paths without bumping into the backs of chairs. I guess we are done with COVID. Once seated things went very well, water and table bread brought pretty quickly. For the entire meal there was always food in front of me, I was ok with that. Our server did fine and had no problem describing several specials. I didn't think the service part was as polished as it could have been, but the job got done. There is a door between the diners inside and those of us outside. I think I was put off early when I saw our server close the door on a busboy with the excuse a customer inside was complaining about the door being open. As I watched the staff using the door during our visit, I could understand customers seated just inside the door not liking their seats very much. As for my food, I had their bruschetta epomeo, bruschetta with tomato, basil, and olive oil, and their orecchiette con salsiccia d'abruzzo e cime di rape, pasta with sausage, rapini, and dried ricotta. For our bruschetta we added prosciutto, and as you can tell from our photo, we got a lot of prosciutto. What we didn't have were very many tomatoes, and the bruschetta was burnt enough that it tasted burnt. For my orecchiette, my favorite part should have been the sausage, but it was hard to notice because of the amount of the strong flavored rapini. I also found the dish kind of dry. It was ok and a good sized portion, I brought some home for another meal. For the cost of our visit, which was roughly the same as what we spent a couple of days ago at another restaurant, the experience was not nearly as impressive this time. read more

I don't know what happened here, but it went from an incredible spot to meh in 6 months. I came back on my birthday for the salad and pasta I loved last time. This time around there was SO much dressing and the shrimp that was grilled and blackened last visit was marinated in garlic and lime- like a ceviche you get at Whole Foods or Fresh Market. It did not pair well with the Caesar dressing. The pasta was al dente and dry, with sparse sauce that didn't resemble the homemade taste I had last time. This place was a 10/10 experience!! I have not had this good of an experience at a restaurant... dare I say... ever? We got there around 7:30 pm and the place was packed!!! They didn't have any tables, but let us know we could hang by the bar, eat there, or wait for our table. We should have known since it's season in Sarasota right now. All of the staff, the hostess, the bartenders, the food runners, the restaurant manager were outstanding. So inviting and you could tell they enjoyed working there. The bartender was incredible. He was making the most delicious drinks all night and even putting together is own. Okay, now on to the food - The food was EXQUISITE! We ordered this dish (tried to look it up so I could tell you exactly what it was, but couldn't find it) that was toast with cheese, like an air fried Brussels sprouts and a truffle honey. Literally the best thing I've eaten in years... not to be dramatic. We literally bought some honey from them to go home with. Then, we ordered two pasta dishes that were PERFECT. The right portion size and so delicious. Honestly not over priced either. It seemed like everyone in the place was having a good time. We were making friends and everyone was happy. Our waiter was Carlos and he was top notch. All of the waitstaff were super friendly and courteous .... Bread was brought to the table with roasted eggplant. Our meals were good but we all agreed that the roasted potatoes were the best. I had a taste of the veal and thought it was a bit tough.... My chicken was good but I was not a fan of the roasted pepper on it. This restaurant is definitely worth the visit... I think I will try the wood fried pizza next time. I've been here 3 times now and have loved every experience. This is my favorite Italian restaurant for special occasions. The atmosphere is very warm and perfect for a date night or celebration. It's beautiful inside with dark wood, brick, and metal accents. I've gotten pasta every time. My last visit I had the pappardelle with a pistachio cream and speck toppings. The pasta was served al dente which I believe is how it's supposed to be cooked. It was so creamy and flavorful. My friends got the pizza and wow! it was just as delicious! I might have to get my own pizza next time. Also, worth mentioning, is the complimentary from-scratch bread and roasted eggplant that comes at the beginning of the meal. 5/5 great experience with high-quality, authentic food, great service, and great atmosphere. read more
