Had 1 naughty and 1 nice shot: The nice was lighter and acidic Naughty was dark and anise flavored It all depends on what the particular bartender wants to make. It's up to them They're great mixologist so it'll be something fun and creative This is great spot for unique special craft cocktails I'm waiting to come back and try the cereal with spiked milk Always great ambiance, especially the hidden back room

This great speakeasy bar in downtown Sarasota offers a back door alley entrance, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. It has a cool vibe and inviting atmosphere, with friendly service and innovative cocktails. The extensive menu features some very unique drinks with fun names and great combinations, the food was nice as well. It's a good option for happy hour, pricier than other good bars downtown, but still a good option. We will come back and try more of their cocktails!

Great atmosphere. I recommend the cereal bowl drinks. So much fun for an adult beverage. Great amazing service and a very cool vibe. Drinks are on par for price so you should definitely check this place out

Well I was taken here to experience the establishment and I have some mixed thoughts on this bar/restaurant at this point. First of all you must enter through an alley, mind you I get it, speakeasy feel right. When you enter you see some interesting decor and once you enter the bar it is a dark, but a cozy atmosphere. The one thing that gets me is I really can't tell if it's outdated or dirty etc, but all good I guess. Be prepared for some small seating areas. Our waiter was a very nice guy who made a handful of recommendations that were very helpful. We had 3 different cocktails and all of them were very good. We also ordered the hummus appetizer, a chicken sandwich x2 and a burger with fries. The hummus was really good and the small toasts that came with it were very good as well (wish there were more of those), it also came with cucumbers and carrots ( not my favorite with hummus, but I'm sure some people that are into crunchy veggies will be happy). The burger was pretty decent and that goes for the chicken sandwich as well, they might not blow your mind, but for this type of bar worth ordering if you're in the mood. Now the French fries were really tasty and thin, yes I ate them all. Overall I need to try this place a couple more time's to really see what it's about. Yes I will go back in the future to try it again and see about consistency. Food 7.5 Atmosphere 7.5 Service 8.0

Can't believe this place has been open since 2010 and I just came here in 2023 for the first time... This is probably my new favorite place for a cocktail in Sarasota! It's pretty easy to find since the door has the name of this place in big letters, and there is NO password -- so if someone asks you for a password, they're just messing with you! When you enter, there is a cool sitting room that is decorated in a cool way. There's two big eyes on the wall that gave me Great Gatsby vibes. There's also I believe two bathrooms connected to the sitting room. To enter the bar, you need to just open the door next to the bookcase, part the curtain (walk straight) and you'll enter the bar. The space is not too small / not too big. We were able to find a free table for five people easily. Our server was Camila (or Camilla?) who was awesome. I love that they use the Toast machines here which make it very easy to put a card down / pay when you're done. The menu is also fun -- we came in December so there were plenty of winter cocktails. I loved the cereal ones (the spiked milk with the Frosted Flakes was good), as well as the Chai cocktail, and the Ginger something (had espresso in it). The fries were also delicious!!! If you like skinny, crispy fries then this place does them well, and it's a good sized portion as well. Loved my first visit so much that I'm coming back in a few days for Christmas Eve!

I came here with a small group on a Tuesday night. The drinks were alright. We also tried the Sir Sazerac and Blue Ridge Mountains. I'm not sure if it was the typical for that night as it was not really busy until a little after we came in but the drinks were not balanced. I like the menu concept but I wish it was better executed.

The drinks were fantastic! Ambience was super nice and chill. Gave you that jazzy feel. Didn't order food though

Drinks were tasty and strong! Bartender was nice. Happy hour prices are more reasonable. Overall good place to have a drink. It's a very casual place to catch a drink.

Service was awesome too. We got there right when they opened so it was just me and my mom at first and the guy at the bar made it easy and fun. The vibe feels a bit on the fancier side, but it's still chill, a perfect spot for date night or just taking cute photos. Unfortunately, this experience went from disappointing to downright concerning…read more I do want to distinguish between the two bartenders working. The younger bartender was nice, pleasant, and welcoming. The older gentleman behind the bar, however, was a completely different experience. He came across as rude and was essentially barking orders at guests about how he would take our orders. For a place positioning itself as an upscale cocktail experience, that attitude set the wrong tone immediately. Unfortunately, the drinks didn't make up for it. My espresso martini was mediocre at best. My friend had the lemon drop, which was equally lackluster. Then came the $30 smoked Old Fashioned, which should have been impressive at that price point but was incredibly disappointing. We were also told they infuse their own vanilla into the vodka. Whatever they're using or doing with it, the end result tasted incredibly cheap --not remotely what I'd expect from a premium cocktail program. Then there's the condition of the place itself. There was a wrapped pipe dripping water onto/near a lounge bench, chipped and peeling paint on the walls, and obvious signs that preventive maintenance is desperately needed. The space simply wasn't aesthetically pleasing or maintained at the level the prices and concept would suggest. But it actually got worse when I went to the bathroom. Part of the ceiling appeared to be falling down, water was actively dripping into a bucket, and there was visible dark growth on the ceiling tile that looked like mold. At that point, my concern went well beyond décor. If you're going for an upscale speakeasy experience take a look at The Doctor's Office. That's the kind of atmosphere, presentation, and attention to detail I associate with this concept. When you're charging $30 for a cocktail, expectations are naturally going to be high. I expect excellent drinks, professional hospitality, and a well-maintained environment. Aside from the younger bartender, who was genuinely pleasant, this experience missed the mark across the board.

So, we arrived a few minutes before our 7pm reservation, but were left standing at the entrance as other parties were shuttled right in. In fact, 10 minutes later, we were still standing there. After almost 15 minutes, we were finally escorted into the speakeasy. This was the first sign of how the evening was going to go and, honestly, we should've left after five minutes of waiting. Once seated, we were warmly greeted by Otis, who took our order for the cookies and spiked milk. When the runner brought the cookies they were neither fresh from the oven, nor warm (or gooey) like real Ciro's cookies were. Instead, they were cold, hard and broke like peanut brittle. I spoke to Otis, who immediately addressed the matter and put in another order of cookies. The second order was delivered by the manager, who claimed that he stood and watched the entire process. This was difficult for us to believe because the second batch cookies were even worse than the first batch. So, we called Otis back over, told him we were leaving and thanked him for his superior service. At this same time, a bar tender, who overheard all of this, stopped by with two complementary beverages. The drinks were the highlight of the visit along with the severs graciousness and professionalism. Jekyll appears to be a very nice place. Other downfalls was service being slow, so much that we left without getting any drinks after standing by the bar for about ten minutes without much moving. The place was crowded, probably because earlier today was the pride parade. Another reason for the lower score is only one bathroom stall from what we could tell. After Bodega closes the only entrance/exit is a door that dumps to the side alley. It isn't hidden so found it pretty easily. A loose entrepretation of a speakeasy. Might try this again on a less busy night where the bar service can keep up with the patrons. Recommend this place to smaller numbers of 2-4 people. Anything larger and they just can't accommodate properly. In my picture you can see how small all the tables are...
