Fantastic cigar lounge in downtown Sarasota. We were visiting for the weekend and happened to stumble upon this lounge... 1 of only 5 locations btw! They have a great selection of cigars, the guys who helped us were extremely nice and informative and there is a section for great drinks and small bites. I do wish they had a little more to choose from, food wise. But other than that, awesome little spot to hang out and vibe. read more

Fantastic Cigar Lounge Experience! Corona Cigar Company in Sarasota is a gem for cigar enthusiasts. Here's a detailed breakdown of my experience: - Service (20/20): The cigar personnel are great and know their cigars. I have been helped by Jandy, Ryan, and Jon in the past. They have always given me excellent recommendations. The bar staff are top-notch, super friendly, and make an excellent old-fashioned when I am craving one. Overall, it is exceptional service even when busy. - Cleanliness (15/15): The bathrooms have always been clean when I come. The rest of the store is actively maintained by staff. Easily one of the cleanest places I frequent. - Product Selection (25/25): They have hundreds of cigars, and this is always the toughest part, but rest assured, the cigar staff is always great at recommending an excellent stick. They have everything a cigar aficionado will be looking for, and it can be purchased online if not stocked in-store. The list of bourbons, whiskeys, and scotch, as well as other favorites, is a lot to wrap my head around. The bar has everything for making any cocktail you desire. - Value for Money (15/15): Considering the size of the cigar selection, Corona has the best prices on cigars compared to the cigar shop closer to my house. For my old-fashioned, the second shot is always half-off and I take advantage and get the double. I also receive a 10% discount for being in the military. They support veterans/military and law enforcement/first responders and extend this discount to those personnel. - Atmosphere (15/15): The atmosphere is chill and laid back. There are many regulars, myself included. The patrons here are respectful and great to socialize with. I see strangers sitting together and chatting all the time, especially when it's busy. Overall a good cigar culture where everyone normally treats each other with respect. - Accessibility/convenience (10/10): I find parking in the back of the store, and unfortunately, it is paid parking, but I use the ParkMobile app for that. There is free parking in most places just a little further like Whole Foods. This place is in the heart of Downtown Sarasota and is great to go after dinner or to grab a drink and a smoke in your free time. They are open late, up until 2AM on weekends, so that leaves plenty of availability for when I need to stock up on smokes or want a drink. Corona Cigar receives a 100/100 in my review rubric. Overall, this place delivers on every level--exceptional service, cleanliness, an unbeatable selection, great value, and a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended! read more

This cigar lounge is relaxing with a great selection of fine cigars as well as humidors, lighters, etc. with an excellent bar and comfortable seating both inside and out; terrific music selection and, of course, tv's all around. The best part of Corona, however, are the people who work there. They are knowledgeable, professional and could not be more helpful. The bartenders, too, are superb. In my travels around the world, I always look for a cigar bar to relax and take in the truly local flavor of the town or country. I've heard great things about Sarasota FL for years; so, my wife and I spent a long weekend. Of course, I looked for some good cigar bars and found Corona Cigar Co. I was blown away. This is a beautiful place with a modern but welcoming decor. It's very spacious with comfortable leather seating inside and large screen TVs (standard fare for good cigar bars), and they have nice outdoor seating too for those wanting to people watch. The cigar selection is nothing short of fantastic. Since the entire place is perfectly climate controlled with great ventilation (some of the best I've experienced) the cigars are all out in the open beautifully displayed. The local clientele are super friendly. I asked some who looked like they knew their way around for help finding some of my favorite brands. He took me around, made some great suggestions. I asked how long he's worked there, and he said, "I don't work here, but it's my favorite hangout." Like I said, it's a great place to meet good people. I did say this is a cigar BAR, and the bar is a bourbon and scotch lovers paradise with 200 Scotches and over 300 bourbons...and Monica the bartender describes them as some of the very best. Monica is not wrong! This is a 5 cigar bar... and I've been to some of the best in the world. If you're in Sarasota, do yourself a favor and look them up. I work a few blocks away and was so excited for its opening. Walking in the door you're greeted by a friendly staff and a beautiful use of natural light, comfortable leather chairs in an array of settings, TVs are all around and a HUGE wall of spirits behind a spectacular bar. Behind the greeting desk is four aisles of most all of the cigars I enjoy m, as well as new adventures to try. After reading complaints of dress code after 6pm. I made it a point to tell them to please keep it. If you want to dress in flip flops, T-shirts and ball caps for a night out, there's plenty of other places to go, but stay away from here. People are part of the atmosphere and can add or subtract from your overall experience. Personally, I love the dress code. There's only a snack menu, so don't plan on eating a meal, but the charcuterie board was elegantly done and enough for the four of us to snack.(sorry, no photo this time in) read more

Atmosphere is great. Bourbon selections are fantastic. Staff still need training, more focused on cleaning ashtrays than taking you order. I'm sure that will change. The main issues are the dress code. After 6pm they have posted NO T-shirts, flip flops, tennis shoes or baseball caps. We had a party of 5 and we moved a chair so we could all be together. We did not impede any walk way. The made is put the seat back and 2 of my friends left. I hope they realize this is a customer based business and we come here to relax. Not for strict rules. I am an accountant, Sep 15 was extension deadline so in the past 2 weeks, I've been going to bed at 4am. It's been crazy but we got done with everything on time so I called my best friend, let's celebrate, go downtown to this cigar place, and enjoy a good cigar and a smoked old fashioned. Being an accountant and the owner of my accounting firm, I know how to be presentable. And I was. I wore a button down shirt, and jeans. I was just happy to be casual. Upon arrival, I was approached by one of the employees telling me ripped jeans were not allowed. I first thought it was a joke. He then elaborated that after 6pm, the dress code did not allow ripped jeans. He pointed at my left knee where my jeans were ripped but there was still fabric underneath, and said, that was ok, but then he pointed at my right knee where my jeans were ripped and showed my kneecap, and said, that was not ok because it showed too much skin. So I pointed out that I was wearing a shirt and jeans, looking still more presentable than 50% of the people in there who wore shorts and a shirt or a T-shirt that looked like they had just come from the beach. He said shorts were ok but not ripped jeans that showed skin. Then I noticed someone else sitting there wearing jeans that were ripped and distressed all the way from the top to the bottom of one leg. How is that ok? He said those jeans didn't show skin as much as mine. So I asked, what is then the real issue here? Is it showing skin or is it the ripped factor? Because if it's the ripped factor, then the other guy with his jeans totally ripped shouldn't be allowed in either. But if that's ok because those jeans didn't show skin and it's really the showing of skin that's the problem, then I think all the folks wearing shorts shouldn't be allowed in there because shorts show way more skin than a little cut around my knee area. This dress code is absolutely ridiculous and very much inconsistent. It makes no sense. We are in Florida and not in Paris or London. People who actually look presentable and not like a bum are asked to leave the place because of a cut on their jeans that show their knee while people wearing shorts with both knees completely exposed are ok to stay!? We were literally kicked out! This place is going to lose a lot of business with this ludicrous dress code! People want to go and enjoy a cigar wearing something comfortable! Ripped jeans are today's fashion as comfortable casual outfits. Yes, they are actually fashionable! There's a huge gap between someone being fashionable but still very presentable and someone looking like a bum or homeless! Anyone and everyone should be able to differentiate between the two! Except for this employee. This was the worst experience ever! My friend who was just checking out backed out saying, if we weren't allowed to stay, then he wouldn't buy those cigars he had picked. What was planned as a laid-back and celebratory night enjoying a good cigar ended up being the worst experience I have ever had anywhere! This is an extremely repulsive business model! I was Anticipating the opening of this location for a new experience since i have frequented the Tampa location weekly for the last 10 years but my anticipation ended in disappointment and embarrassment by my guest. Memorial weekend i had company visiting from Palm Beach that i was excited to take out for a nice evening to Corona (Sarasota). We drove over 50 miles from Apollo Beach and before leaving we called to make sure the lounge was open. I was told that it was running on regular business hours. When we got there, a gentlemen that was working gave us a tour of the entire lounge as well as upstairs because we often rent the upstairs room in Tampa. The staff was friendly and accomodating. I purchased cigars and drinks for my party at 10:15. By the time we ordered drinks it was 10;30. At 11:10 the Owner of the lounge named Tonya (who by the way the staff had no problem giving us her name) approached us in a loud, rude and condescending tone and said "you need to finish up your drinks because we want to go home. We have giving you guys and extra 10 minutes but we are closing." No one told us before we ordered drinks or when our cigars were cut and lit that they were closing in 30 minutes nor were we told that when we called. the waiter, bartender and the cashier had the most appaled look on their faces at the way she spoke to us, even apologizing. There was another group of men of 4 who had also just came in and ordered who were upset as well. This was by far the worst experience i have ever had to be treated as though my business was not appreciated. My guests were disappointed and i cannot recommend this place to anyone i know that smokes cigars. Disappointed!! read more

I had been looking forward to the Sarasota location for some time. I live about 50 minutes away, so I called before making the trip. I spoke to Jessica who advised the location was fully open, selling both cigars and alcohol. We arrived at 10:15 p.m. took our initial look around and was impressed with the lounge. By the time we selected cigars and ordered drinks, it was around 10:35 p.m. At the time of placing our order we were not advise they would be closing soon. At 11:00 p.m. the owners wife, Tanya approached us and said " Drink up, we're trying to go home", In a very condescending manner. I told her I called earlier and specifically asked if the were fully open and Jessica told me they were. While we in the the process of making purchases and placing drink orders, no one informed us they would be closing momentarily. We didn't have a chance to enjoy our purchase. My party had to leave barely touch drinks, and cigars that were only 1/4 smoked cigars. This was the worst cigar lounge experience I have had in almost 20 years of smoking cigars. I doubt that will visit this lounge again! read more
