My son-in-law and I visited them on Easter Sunday and they were open, Premier Football (soccer) matches draw patrons. You can smell that smoking has been allowed, although none of the customers were imbibing at the time. I also did not see ashtrays at the bar. Our goal was simple, order an authentic English Breakfast. Champions appear to be a basic mom-and-pop restaurant. Pop takes the orders and tends bar, mom is in the kitchen preparing orders. I ordered a small breakfast which I will share in an attached photo. The order was huge. The full breakfast has an additional egg and double meat. English breakfasts include eggs, fried bread or toast, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, bangers, and ham. I suggest ordering a small breakfast unless you are beyond hungry. I have been fortunate to enjoy a proper English Breakfast in the UK and what Champions prepares is the real deal. One of the others ordered curry chicken and I'm disappointed that I didn't try it, but it is on my list for the next time I visit. Bottom line, I highly recommend Champions Pub if you enjoy British food, or enjoy European Football. But it wasn't until this last visit that we even realized this place existed - and we are SO glad we did! :) Tucked in the middle of a small and unassuming shopping center, the outside is very dark which definitely helps with the authentic Irish Pub feel. Once you open the door, it's smaller place, with around 10-15 small tables, a bar straight ahead, and a small area for local performers on the left up against the outside window (because of the dark ambiance, its hard to even tell the back is glass. The staff was helpful and attentive. We were going for a walk, but I wanted to see the menu, so I popped in to grab one with one of my daughters in the baby carrier. There were 2 performers and a few tables of people and everyone smiled and made comments about her, and I grabbed a menu and left. During the walk, I called to order our food, and the bartender on the phone was very helpful. He happily accommodated getting all of the sauces on the side and even offered some things to be separated that I didn't think about (since I mentioned we would be walking home with the food). When I went back to pick up the food, the place was far busier, almost every seat was taken, and I had switched out kids in the baby carrier. People were just as friendly even though it was noticeably crowded. It had only been 15 minutes, but the food was ready and packed - and boy was it GOOD!! There's no food at Growler's, but the bartender suggested that we order from one of the nearby restaurants and have them bring it over. We ended up leaving to eat, explore a bit, and then return to Growler's later that night for some live music. However, we did see some people order food and the restaurant nextdoor walked the food right over. Around 9 or so, a couple of bands started playing. It seems like a pretty cool place where new artists can get a start. One of the women who played said it was her first show ever. The crowd there were nice people. The DJ is awesome and his wife is a lovely person. The owner was nice up until all this happened. My husband and I were on our 1 year anniversary and his RnR from Afghanistan for 15 days. We went to Florida and went to this bar on a friday night. There was a man there that walked up to me and ripped my pool stick out of my hand, told me to shut the F@#$ up and sit down. He threatened if I said anything more that he would call the owner and get us kicked out. My husband and him start talking it out and then the crazy man kicked my husband in the balls and beat the crap out of his face with a pool stick. The owner let him run out and told us we needed to leave. I asked to call 911. The owner and bartender said their phone does not dial out. We are currently pressing charges against the man. His name is John Colvin. We wrote statements and my husband is writing a disposition from Afghanistan. He broke his nose, and gave him stitches. He ruined my husbands only time off for the 1 year that he is deployed. The owner should get time in jail too, it is his job to maintain the crowd and if we can we are going to sue him as well. read more

I had a very disturbing experience at Memories Lounge. A bartender named Tony became aggressive during a simple order situation. When I asked about my order, Tony escalated the situation without any clear reason and physically grabbed me by the throat and forced me to the ground. I did not act violently or threaten anyone. This level of force was completely disproportionate and extremely concerning. Police were involved, and I left as instructed, but this raises serious concerns about customer safety. This kind of behavior from a staff member like Tony is unacceptable in any establishment. I strongly recommend management review this incident. read more

Long bar, service good, bartenders did a decent job taken care of you. Not a ton of seating, but there was an ample amount. There is several pool tables as well. They have an area in near the back which includes seating, but it's used for karaoke on Saturday nights, the DJ who runs it, does a nice job along with the songs and words printed out in several places for the singer to follow along and sing. What was interesting, some of the Locals show up dressed in costumes. Hilarious. One thing I didn't like was I'm from up north, and you can't light up a cigarette anywhere in the Midwest, as it's been banned. Here in Florida or at least in this bar, people smoke wherever. Now it doesn't seem too bad as the airflow is decent, they must have good ventilation . However I went to where Im staying, and I smelled like an ashtray. Drinks are pretty good, they have a decent variety, and as I said before , the bartenders make decent pours, and provide the appropriate alcohol amount. Prices aren't bad. I have no complaints there, not a lot of beer selection, but you're in a dive bar , so why would you expect anything different than most popular beers. you'd find in the liquor stores? We had a good time and will return. Place was well organized and seemed fairly safe . Like any bar , I'm sure they have problems from time to time with patrons, but no trouble tonight. Worth a stop.

I stepped outside briefly to grab something from my car, came back, and found the drink wasn't made the way I ordered it. Not exactly a national emergency. Any halfway competent bartender could have fixed it in thirty seconds and moved on. Instead, I had to flag her down because she seemed more interested in hanging around the storage area than actually tending the bar. When she finally decided to return to work, I told her the drink was wrong. That apparently triggered a full-scale emotional crisis. She immediately developed an attitude, started arguing about what she supposedly asked me while I was already walking away, then stomped over to the register shaking her head and muttering under her breath like a teenager whose phone had just been taken away. Absolutely embarrassing behavior from someone whose job description includes interacting with customers. Then security arrived, and somehow things became even more ridiculous. A bargain-bin bouncer with an inflated sense of importance marched over and decided I was the problem. Apparently his investigative process consisted of hearing one side of the story, skipping anything resembling common sense, and immediately appointing himself sheriff of the upstairs bar. Truly inspiring work. I asked for Karl, the owner, because I previously thought he was a reasonable guy. That assumption aged poorly. I explained the entire situation. His solution wasn't to address the bartender's behavior, apologize, or simply have the drink corrected. No, his brilliant management decision was to tell me I could move away from the bar and sit at a table or leave. That is an impressive level of backwards thinking. Employee creates the problem. Customer points out the problem. Management inconveniences the customer. Outstanding leadership. Apparently accountability at Raffurty's is treated like an endangered species. I wasn't going to relocate because a bartender couldn't handle being told she made a drink incorrectly, so I left. I didn't drink it. If I'm charged for that drink, I'll dispute the charge through my bank and deal with it appropriately. The truly amazing part is how spectacularly unnecessary this entire situation was. Remake the drink. Say, "Sorry about that." Problem solved. Instead, they turned one incorrectly made drink into a masterclass in attitude, arrogance, amateur-hour security theater, and management incompetence. You almost have to admire the efficiency. It takes real talent to turn a minor bartender mistake into a customer permanently deciding not to return. If this is how Raffurty's handles a simple complaint, customers should probably lower their expectations before walking through the door. The bartender was unprofessional, security was laughably overzealous, and management demonstrated the conflict-resolution skills of a folding chair. What used to be a good bar now feels like a clubhouse where the employees protect each other's bad behavior and customers are expected to smile and tolerate it. I won't be returning, and I'll gladly share this experience anywhere reviews are accepted. Congratulations, Raffurty's. You successfully turned a thirty-second drink correction into a lasting example of how not to run a business.
