Unfortunately, this experience went from disappointing to downright concerning…read more I do want to distinguish between the two bartenders working. The younger bartender was nice, pleasant, and welcoming. The older gentleman behind the bar, however, was a completely different experience. He came across as rude and was essentially barking orders at guests about how he would take our orders. For a place positioning itself as an upscale cocktail experience, that attitude set the wrong tone immediately. Unfortunately, the drinks didn't make up for it. My espresso martini was mediocre at best. My friend had the lemon drop, which was equally lackluster. Then came the $30 smoked Old Fashioned, which should have been impressive at that price point but was incredibly disappointing. We were also told they infuse their own vanilla into the vodka. Whatever they're using or doing with it, the end result tasted incredibly cheap --not remotely what I'd expect from a premium cocktail program. Then there's the condition of the place itself. There was a wrapped pipe dripping water onto/near a lounge bench, chipped and peeling paint on the walls, and obvious signs that preventive maintenance is desperately needed. The space simply wasn't aesthetically pleasing or maintained at the level the prices and concept would suggest. But it actually got worse when I went to the bathroom. Part of the ceiling appeared to be falling down, water was actively dripping into a bucket, and there was visible dark growth on the ceiling tile that looked like mold. At that point, my concern went well beyond décor. If you're going for an upscale speakeasy experience take a look at The Doctor's Office. That's the kind of atmosphere, presentation, and attention to detail I associate with this concept. When you're charging $30 for a cocktail, expectations are naturally going to be high. I expect excellent drinks, professional hospitality, and a well-maintained environment. Aside from the younger bartender, who was genuinely pleasant, this experience missed the mark across the board.

Service was awesome too. We got there right when they opened so it was just me and my mom at first and the guy at the bar made it easy and fun. The vibe feels a bit on the fancier side, but it's still chill, a perfect spot for date night or just taking cute photos. No hidden entrance or secret password that we could see and street parking is available. No wait during the day. It's not the cheapest spot, but honestly worth it for the drinks and the aesthetic. I'd love to go back and try more of their craft tails sometime!

It was midday on a weekend, (Apr 2026), and they were serving a short lunch menu. We were tempted by their nitro cold-brew, but instead moved on to chomp on fun zingy chili-lime yucca fries with chipotle aioli, completely compatible with ice-cold Pacifica Clara pilsner and Modelo lager from among craft and classics on-tap. This is a pleasant spot for a Saturday or Sunday midday retreat. We gotta come back in the evening (Thu-Sun) when we're cool enough for their speakeasy :-)

I was sexy in every way, from the decor to the glassware, to the cigar corner. Every inch of the place was a vibe. Go see Manny, the bartender. His service was unmatched. He made me a Coconut Passionfruit Margarita with a Tajin rim. When I tell you that's THE BEST margarita I've ever had, I mean it. The waitress took one of our party's order wrong and he personally came over, made it right, and was our best friend the rest of the night. We got a yummy charcuterie board to soak up some of the alcohol. Highly recommend that too. The last thing I'll say is that even though we missed the live music, they were still playing the artist's music over the speakers. It's great to see them continue to support local talent because I immediately looked up the person and downloaded their music all because the establishment didn't stop supporting him after he stopped singing. It shows how deep they want to grow roots in the community. Love it and I'm absolutely going back.

Looking at the menu I was bit surprised they did not have more signature drinks on the menu, mainly mojitos, but then realized this is a Latin speakeasy, with music playing to match. They also have a full bar so anything you want they can make, The bartender and servers were super nice and friendly, and they worked quick to get all drinks out. They also had some food, that looked delicious, and hope I get the chance to come back to try some. After seating in the lounge/ speakeasy area for a while, we moved to the bar for a last drink. The bartender said Espresso Martinis were her specialty so we order those. She was not lying, one of the best we've had.

I had a group of us driving to Orlando for a weekend and we were making good time, so it was perfect to stop short in St Cloud to see what this Black Squirrel Bookstore was all about. I actually let the girls go in and check it out as we had brought our dog. I sat in the car and read a book ironically, why they had some speakeasy fun. well after maybe a half hour i looked up and my gal and another lady were by the car. The other lady said she was the owner and that we could bring our dog Augie inside. It was very kind of her, as it really wasn't expected art such a nice spot. They don't make you do it if you don't want to but, that is part of the fun. We solved it and in we went. Squirrels everywhere, fun signs, chandeliers, books and light, plus beautiful cozy tables and sofa seating, giving this a great speakeasy ambiance. On the corner a piano, and to our surprise a wonderful live jazz singer, who made our experience even better. The owner happened to be there that night and came to welcomes us at our table. Really nice lady, very happy to see people enjoy the place, and she herself was there with friends having a great time. The drinks are fun, and they have a food menu too. Honestly a place I want to come back to and recommend to everyone.

Once inside you see how little this place is, which is one of the reasons for 3 stars. Other downfalls was service being slow, so much that we left without getting any drinks after standing by the bar for about ten minutes without much moving. The place was crowded, probably because earlier today was the pride parade. Another reason for the lower score is only one bathroom stall from what we could tell. And not enough tables because of how small the venue is. There were a couple small tables with drinks on them but no one busing the floor. Liked the decorations in the corner with old record albums... Kiss, Robert Palmer, Chuck Magione, Ricki Lee Jones, Adam Ant. The music playing was good. After Bodega closes the only entrance/exit is a door that dumps to the side alley. It isn't hidden so found it pretty easily. A loose entrepretation of a speakeasy. Might try this again on a less busy night where the bar service can keep up with the patrons. Recommend this place to smaller numbers of 2-4 people. Anything larger and they just can't accommodate properly. In my picture you can see how small all the tables are... Bodega closes several hours before Bar Chica, so if the Central Avenue door is locked then entrance is down the alley to the right. They close at 1a on Saturdays...
