The coolest speakeasy that I always love to go to. Cuban themed with great hand crafted drinks and great coffee as well

Super cool speakeasy in downtown St Pete! Looks like a laundromat.... But there's more! You must use the phone to call in and get a secret code and get access to the real party! They have fun cocktails, 15-18$ each. Live music some nights. Nice patio to chill out on as well. It's a fun stop for sure.

A super fun speakeasy right off Central. Pick up the pay phone, listen for the code, and you are transported from a laundromat to a Latin inspired bar! The day we went, mid afternoon, it was DARK in there, like we couldn't even read the menus. The bartenders all seemed a bit off, like they were all in a mood and in each other's way. Regardless, our drinks were fantastic and the vibes were 10 out of 10.

This was our first night in St. Pete so we wanted to celebrate with cocktails. Then our friends told us about a speakeasy in a laundromat, I was like "yes, let's go!" A gal at the counter greeted us and asked if we were there for coffee or cocktails. We expressed interest in cocktails and she directed us to a pay phone. The recording on the phone provided instructions to enter the speakeasy through a washing machine...or maybe it was a dryer. I forget. After walking through the washer/dryer, we entered a dark and artsy bar area complete with DJ booth, dance floor with disco ball, and lounge areas. I ordered a Mango Guava Mojito. Full transparency, I couldn't taste the guava. I even suspect that it may not have been in there. However, I forgive the lack of guava because the mango flavor came in full force and I was doing my happy dance...partially because of the nice buzz from the mojito but also because this tasted so good! https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dirty-laundry-st-petersburg?select=YXW-z_9r40DOMoiC0ujuiA Hubby ordered the Made in Havana. Our friends had the Cayo Coco and a Strawberry Agua Fresca. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks. https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/dirty-laundry-st-petersburg?select=gI-Z9b24xUiNYabufict0w We took our drinks to the back patio which was lively in color (mostly pink) with a beachy theme and cool vibe. We enjoyed the music that was playing. As we were leaving, we realized that the music we were listening to was a live musician/singer that had been performing inside! She was really talented. Such a fun place for a fun night with fun friends :)

This is such a cool speakeasy. Definitely loved taking pictures here! The bartender was SO sweet and down to earth and really professional when I heard her telling someone they could no longer continue being served as she didn't feel comfortable. I think it's important when bartenders take their jobs seriously like this. I really enjoyed my White Sangria! It was not really that busy, so we didn't stay long, but I'd try it again next time I'm in the area.

This was such a fun and unique speakeasy. It is set up like a laundromat and once you speak the secret work you're led through the wall into the back room that is an inside outside experience. The food is light bites so don't come hungry. The drinks are delicious. The ambiance is an intimate blue lighting and once down the hallway you're in an open air seating area. I enjoy cool days so for me that is perfect for these fall/winter nights. They have warming lamps for those who can't handle cold. It's an amazing experience for a first date. The staff is friendly. It's pretty busy once inside so they aren't super attentive but again, it's busy. There's multiple types of seating both inside outside. Built to accommodate various group and date sizes.

Fun, but packed speakeasy hidden behind a mock laundromat near all the action in downtown st pete. I visited on a thursday night and it was super busy. No hats allowed!! Some guys in our party learned the hard way that they couldn't wear their hats inside. It took some time to order our drinks at the bar and there wasn't much available seating. The presentation of the drinks was very nice! But the overall it's more of a bar vibe with a hidden speakeasy concept. We went outside to get some space, but soon after finding a table were told they were all reserved. Would consider coming back for a quick drink and then moving on to a different spot where it's easier to talk and get a drink

FUN!! What a cool concept for a speakeasy! The initial entrance looks like a 1950's diner/laundry-mat. You use the payphone to get a code for the secret door (which is a washing machine!) to get to the speakeasy. I wish I took more pics but I was originally confused as to what was going on in this place... Once in the speakeasy, the space has a latin/spanish feel. I ordered the "made in havana" martini (espresso martini) and it was delicious but surprisingly small (and expensive). Regardless I would still recommend checking this place out for the vibes as I've never been anywhere like this! :)

Great location and atmosphere. Thursday of latin night was great. The Mojitos were ok, not the best. The bartenders were very attentive and nice. La localización está excelente y buen ambiente. La entraga esta super cool. Los moritos buenos, pero no son de lo mejor mejor. Jueves es de música latina y es una nota... Buena diversidad cultural y los bartenders muy atentos.

I love the service and the cocktails are cute. It's always a nice break from the hussle & bussle in Tampa to come to a calmer Central Ave. Maybe that's why they call this a "SPEAKEASY"! The setting is cafe inspired with a surprise door to the total opposite. Shhhh! Go check them out. I have more photos & clips but then I'd be giving away the ______.

This is certainly a night time place! We chose to check this place out for their brunch time burlesque show which, we clearly went on the wrong day(it is not every Sunday like it used to be)! Showing up it was very empty and only one bartender on staff at the time. It was nice not having to wait for a drink, however it did feel out of place to find a table and keep walking up to the bar to order drinks. We did decide to eat the food outdoors which was short lived in the Florida sun. The space itself is honestly really fantastic, I can certainly see how it would be the place to go for night life! The food was tasty and the drinks were deviously good! I could certainly see coming back here at night! From all the murmurs I have heard I think I came here on an odd time/day for them, be sure you go on the right Sunday if you're looking to see the burlesque!

staff was cool! the vibes were immaculate. loved the music choice! the drinks could use a little improvement coming from an old bartender. cool spot to hang at though definitely be back.

I've heard a lot about this place and glad I finally got around to checking it out. I came fairly early in the evening so it wanted crowded at all. The passionfruit mojito was amazing and so were the yuca fries. The girl performing "Kayla Evender" I hope I got her name correct was amazing. She had a beautiful voice and sang some great R&B songs while we were there. The ambiance was really cool and had a wide variety of people here. I will definitely come back and recommend to others.

Is this place kid friendly during the day?

I haven't been during the day but the setup I would say is more for adults.

    How's the parking situation?

    We found free street parking:)

Once inside you see how little this place is, which is one of the reasons for 3 stars. Other downfalls was service being slow, so much that we left without getting any drinks after standing by the bar for about ten minutes without much moving. The place was crowded, probably because earlier today was the pride parade. Another reason for the lower score is only one bathroom stall from what we could tell. And not enough tables because of how small the venue is. There were a couple small tables with drinks on them but no one busing the floor. Liked the decorations in the corner with old record albums... Kiss, Robert Palmer, Chuck Magione, Ricki Lee Jones, Adam Ant. The music playing was good. After Bodega closes the only entrance/exit is a door that dumps to the side alley. It isn't hidden so found it pretty easily. A loose entrepretation of a speakeasy. Might try this again on a less busy night where the bar service can keep up with the patrons. Recommend this place to smaller numbers of 2-4 people. Anything larger and they just can't accommodate properly. In my picture you can see how small all the tables are... Bodega closes several hours before Bar Chica, so if the Central Avenue door is locked then entrance is down the alley to the right. They close at 1a on Saturdays...

Service was terrific -- they made us feel like it was our bar! Ambiance was in point with suggestive dark, moody lighting. I feel like the drinks used to be a lot more creative from what I saw on their socials and from what my friend said who went back in the day it used to be more of a speakeasy elevated cocktail vibe versus a tiki/dive bar vibe. We had to ask for the chips that are supposed to be given complimentary and then we ordered bread and soup which literally took an unnecessary like 30 mins or more to come out as we watched the people on both sides of us get their full meals before us when we got items that just had to be reheated. The tomato soup was very good once it finally came out, the rolls were good but nothing as great as the hype in my opinion for the menu. The drinks were good but honestly the starter shot given at the bar was my favorite which was a hibiscus Pom margarita which I ended up getting fully as my second drink. Service started out hot but then went downhill but that is unfortunately the standard of when gratuity is already included in a check. Then when it came time to pay it got weird when there was a simple mix up when my friend intentionally overpaid even with gratuity involved in her check and the bartender asked her if she wanted change and she said yes but never brought it back. My friend gave 3 - 20s on a $38 check (gratuity) already in but she wanted to tip a few more dollars because she is a very generous person and then when she asked about her change that's when it got weird and the bartender made it seem like she didn't understand why she wanted change instead of just apologizing for the mistake and they went back and forth for a few minutes with the bartender ending up just giving her the extra $20 back. Just left a weird taste in our mouths for the experience when I feel like any bartender would understand what she wanted to do with giving extra larger bills to split especially when she said she wanted change and it was a massive overpayment or if the thought there was a very generous tip like 30% would make sure with guest that's what they want and show appreciation if that were the case. It was just weird how it all was handled. The decor was on point for Christmas and the vibe was very casual but oldie vibes which makes sense for it being in Anna Maria island.

But other than being one scary venue, Spookeasy has food and drinks that are worth hanging around for while you take in the spookiness of the place. A full coffee bar, they already have my name on it, but they also feature sandwiches, snacks, salads, and other bar food. While I came here for a Death Cafe event, I decided to make myself comfortable by getting myself some food and lattes. Thankfully, the place serves up food that makes a visit here worth more than just a quick look around. I got myself a hot marshmallow flavored latte, and a breakfast sandwich. The latte was delicious, and I loved the marshmallow flavor I got with it to give it a more unique taste perfect for winter. It gave me just the right kick while I waited for my event to start. The breakfast sandwich seems simple enough, bacon, eggs, cheese on toast, but each ingredient was thoughtfully prepared to make one filling meal. I can tell the egg is fresh cracked and the bacon was perfectly crispy, all held together by two slices of thick toast. I also loved the fries that came with it, well seasoned with cheese sauce AND melted cheese, so I was pretty occupied and well fed during my meeting. The staff here is great, laid back, and super-friendly to talk to. They have a good vibe about them that makes me want to come back to haunt--er visit them, haha, Death Cafe meeting or not.
