    Korean BBQ Meatloaf
    Olivia R.

My boyfriend and I chose to spend our Valentine's dinner at this restaurant. Wow, what a wonderful meal for a special evening. We started with our cocktails (Basil-cucumber Martini and the Bramble... yum!) and ordered the Crispy Shrimp Tostada as the appetizer. We loved to see they had a Valentine's special menu. My boyfriend ordered the Ribeye steak from that menu and I got the Korean BBQ Meatloaf from the main menu. I cleaned my plate!! I really wish this place was closer to home. Such a warm intimate atmosphere and our service was great. Hope to return someday soon!

Food was top notch. Specials included bone marrow and beet infused gravlax. Both delicious. The reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is the drinks were average at best. Had a cucumber vodka drink and a granatiti which was pomegranate and vodka. Both were just average. Go for the food not the drink.

I really appreciate how they accommodated me last minute. My tuna tar tar was absolutely amazing. I have to say it's the best in town hands down. Perfect place for date night or your next special occasion. Make a reservation just to be safe. Limited seating, and it's worth every penny

Good was good bit concerned about how they make cocktails. Asked for spicy they told us they can add red pepper flakes...WHAT? How do you not have spicy peppers on hand?

Korean spiced pork chops over kimchi polenta which was drowned in broth :(

First time and what a cozy and appealing space. Terrific vibe. Four of us for Friday night dinner. Service was great throughout and corkage is $25. Great cocktail list and nice wine list too. Our drinks and appetizers were excellent- focaccia and fried Brussel sprouts with sausage. Entrees all left something to be desired. My Korean spiced pork chops were delicious but underneath, literally drowned in broth, was supposed to be kimchi polenta which was a soggy mess. The poached egg was a gelatinous blob. Ate the chops and left the soup. Two got the Tiger Shrimp with noodles. Both loved the noodles, but the shrimp was overcooked and lacked seasoning. The fourth got braised short rib pasta which he found tasty but was surprised by the small amount of pulled meat - was expecting the actual short ribs. Overall good maybe better on a weeknight when the kitchen isn't slammed?

Our Airbnb host recommended this restaurant. Honestly I don't know what I was expecting but this place was not what I was expecting. The menu kind of had a little bit of all different flavors. We started with the tuna tartar and the flavors were great! The only thing my husband and I wished was that it had 1 more piece of wonton crisp to eat up all of the tuna. I got the sos vide Berkshire pork chops. It was cooked so well. Even my husband who doesn't love pork chops for being dry enjoyed this dish. I loved the kimchi fried rice it was paired with. My husband got the spicy Thai red curry seafood & linguini. It had plenty of seafood and the pasta was cooked perfectly.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner, GOAT, OMG, SLAP MY ASS AMD CALL ME SALLY, So good you're slap your mama!!!! We came specifically because of the fried chicken staff meal that is now on their menu on Thursday nights only. The server greeted us immediately. Drinks were delivered immediately and his checking back and being in communication for the entrée coming out was awesome. That plate of food, the staff meal fried chicken dinner, was one of the best meals I have had in my life. Chicken was second to none and hands-down in my entire life. I have never had fried chicken that good before. The mashed potatoes that the chicken was sitting perfectly perfect portion and was as delicious not at the level of the chicken. This meal can easily be categorized as CRAVEABLE!!!! Ambiance was perfect! I am so glad that it is not Snowbird season and I can get back in without worried worried about getting a reservations many times until this November. I have to note that this is my fifth or six time there and I have always always always been extremely satisfied with the food and service that I get there. This is a hidden gem that should have Michelin stars every year. I tipped my toque to the chef and the amazing job that he has done with this restaurant. Mic Drop experience!!!

Pleasant surprise at Baker and Wife. Situated outside of the glitz and glamour of downtown Sarasota, Baker and Wife is a cozy well put together restaurant perfect for a nice causal night out. Great Service, Great Food and a great night at Baker and Wife. We started off with a pizza that was cooked perfectly, followed by some excellent entrees. We ordered the grilled chicken, tiger prawn shrimp with sweet potato ramen noodles and the short rib fettuccine....they were all delicious. Not a morsel of food was left. We'll definitely be back We'll done Baker & Wife

Was looking for a decent place to eat while visiting. We were headed to another restaurant down the street when we passed Baker and Wife. Glad we changed our plans and went in. Great food and good service... highly recommend

    Do they have gluten free?

I think many things are gluten free. You can see their menu at their web site. http://bakerwife.com/baker-wife-menu/

I'm confused. There are a lot of recent reviews about lunch here, their header says breakfast & brunch, but the hours are only from 5pm-9pm? When is this place actually open?

Hey Jenny! So sorry for the delay in responding. And thank you for the reminder to update our listing on Yelp. Baker & Wife hours are 5-9pm Tuesday-Saturday only. We no longer serve breakfast/brunch/lunch.

The menu - though not expansive - offered a fish, a steak, a chicken, a pasta, a burger, wagyu meatloaf, salads and several other options, appetizers, a full bar & wine. The four of us were very pleased with the food, service - and live music (guitar/singer was excellent). Overall experience, 4.8 stars out of 5. For that, we'd definitely return. However - the parking experience was a fiasco. Given this was our first visit, my husband circled the hotel/restaurant twice as the clogged pull-in area was full and there was no valet in sight. Also / no signage to direct us. Finally - my husband opted to pull into a reserved lot behind the hotel/restaurant and temporarily parked as I sought someone to direct us.... I walked past the valet "station" - nobody there (perhaps busy with other guests) and I headed to the restaurant to request assistance with parking. My husband followed shortly as he found the valet and asked if ok to leave the car - the male valet handed us a parking placard and said he'd take care of it, no problem. Ten minutes later a young lady valet approached our table - telling us she dug thru my glovebox to find us - asking if we realized she could have us towed. Beyond rude. We attempted to tell her the other valet had checked us in - but she continued down a shaming diatribe at our table - telling us how folks park back there illegally, etc. When we asked to speak to a manager, the young lady valet informed us that her company was a third party and she was not employed by the restaurant so our dissatisfaction with her rude & threatening behavior was nothing the hotel or restaurant manager could do anything about.... Eventually she walked away /her nasty attitude intact - and the male valet squared things so we could enjoy a lovely dinner. When exiting, no valet in sight again, we waited at the pull-in area where two other couples stood next to cars asking us where they were supposed to park or find the valet. Another couple were standing next to their car asking where the valets went, waiting for their keys to depart. Fiasco. Time for a better valet system! So Wink Wink gets a 5 but the valet is a big negative. We live here year round and there are too many options in Sarasota to deal with a valet threatening to tow us at our dining table.

My spouse loves mushrooms. I like them but it was still really good. Cubed yellow fin tuna: Also a very large portion and good flavour but it could have gone without the tomatos (and I love tomato's) And perhaps served with a rice cup or something to scoop it up. Everything is diced up so it makes it kind of messy to eat. We got a burger to split. we didn't order a side but the waiter I guess put them in anyhow. The FF without the poutine are just ok. The burger on the other hand was really good and cooked perfectly. We split everything and took home left overs, as it was a lot of food. We shared the butterscotch gelato and had coffee to go with it. The service is good, The athompshere is pleasant. We will definitely be back to try some of the other items. I'm not a greek fan so I wouldn't touch those but my husband will. :)
