Went out in downtown Sarasota for a friends birthday. Beso was a nice flashback to our honeymoon with some authentic Spanish Tapas and Sangria. They even gave us all a little bit of Cava on the house as a birthday gift which if you're not familiar is like Spanish champagne. Pictured are the patatas bravas 10/10 Picanha 8/10 clams 9/10 fried artichoke 9/10 lamb 10/10 shrimp 7/10. Everything was great and service was fantastic. My only negative was the fact that they had olives on the menu for $8 which in sure are good olives but in true Spanish fashion I think they should be free and served upon sitting. Walked around downtown after and scoped out lots of good looking places to review!

Best has a great atmosphere for relaxed but sophisticated dining whether alone or with a bigger group. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and space at the bar too. The menu reflects traditional Spanish cuisine and is best experienced through ordering a series of "small plates". They have a large selection including meat, seafood and vegetables. The my favorite dishes were the octopus and the seafood paella. The anchovies were also a decent appetizer to try. Service was excellent and very attentive. Prices are definitely on the higher end. Granted I ordered a bunch of different things to try, but was almost $150 out of the door for just me.

The food is small portions and very mild, but comes out hot and fast. Great for families or date night. Parking is a little bit of a pain in the butt, but service is polite. They have great drinks and the exclusive Paella is great. Come, give it a go and bring a friend or significant other. You won't be disappointed.

Perfect spot for a double date night! We came here recently for dinner with my wife and another couple, and it was a fantastic evening. The atmosphere is vibrant and lively, making it a great place to kick off a fun night out. The food was delicious, but the absolute standout for me was the croquettes. They are a must order appetizer if you go. The location is also excellent. Since it is right in downtown, we were able to easily walk to The Alchemy Bar nearby for a nightcap to finish off the evening. If you are looking for a fun, energetic dinner spot with great food and walkability, this is the place. Highly recommend!

Food was good I had the steak, lots of garlic yummy, mistake was sitting at the bar, Miguel bartender was rude on a Saturday night, for no reason, my first time here and last. I asked 2 simple questions about if the steak was like a filet with no fat he replies (didn't I look at menu),I have no time for people like this he should be written up or better yet let go,he doesn't have the right personality.i told manager and she seemed nice ..bartenders should be chill, patient, and friendly not him

Came here while visiting some friends and had the best experience! A party of 6 of us sat at the bar and had great service! The drinks are amazing and came in the funnest glassware. We ordered a slew of different tapas and small plates. They were the perfect size for each of us to have a bite or two. The ambiance was super cute and perfect for a light night bite. Can't wait to visit again!

    fried artichoke - just ok

I came here with my sister in law for a dinner out -- she and my parents had recommended it as a top spot in Sarasota. The Spanish food was good. The standout was the beef cheeks - on par with what I had at a pinxos bar in San Sebastián (basque country) Most of the other dishes were very good as well. I liked the croquetas and pan con tomate. I did not really care for the fried artichoke and felt the Spanish tortilla was a bit underwhelming compared to the options I get in Chicago. Overall it was a great meal -- we also ordered a ton and the bill was still reasonable.

Such a cute and intimate spot, perfect for a date night or catching up over good food and drinks. I had the Queso de Cabra, which was so fresh and flavorful, definitely a standout. The Picanha was cooked beautifully, super tender, and full of flavor. The kind of steak that doesn't need anything extra. The cocktails were light, refreshing, and paired perfectly with the meal. Nothing too overpowering, just clean, well-balanced sips. Overall, loved the vibe and the food. Sat at the bar and the bartender was amazing. Very personable and recoded most of the dishes we ordered. Would absolutely go back!

We had one night in Sarasota, FL and decided to walk to Beso from our hotel. We tried the palomas and I thought mine was a bit too sweet, so I switched it out for a Boal Albarino. The boquerones white anchovies were good, and I think the pate' de higados (chicken liver mousse) was my favorite. The sobrassada was also quite good. For vegetables, we tried the patatas braves (fried potatoes, paprika aioli, chili flakes) and for cranes, the albondigas (pork and chorizo meatball, tomato). It all went well with a Petalos Mencia red wine. Our servers were friendly and helpful. The restaurant was not full and the bar had only a few parties, including us.

I came to this restaurant while visiting Sarasota because someone recommended it to me before, honestly it did not disappoint. First, the service was great our waiter was a very nice guy from Spain, He helped us and recommended the best things from the menu. We started with drinks sangria and a mezcal cocktail called La Madrileña (If you like mezcal, that drink is amazing) The sangria was not too sweet, but still very good. Both drinks were really nice. For tapas, we got the patatas bravas, croquetas, and chorizo Everything was delicious. For the main dish, we tried the special paella of the month It was a mix of Mexican and Spanish flavors with birria meat. I didn't expect that combo, but it was very good! The place is modern and elegant with nice music and very clean I really liked it and I want to come back to try more. Totally recommend it!

A group of us (20) went to Beso on a Monday evening for a sampling of their dishes in their private dining area. Service was very good and more importantly, they told us each tapas ie. Pa Am Oli(bread, tomato, garlic, machete and jamon (4of5); queso de Cabra (roasted cherry tomatoes, garlic and warm goat cheese (6 out of 5); Alcachfss frites (artichoke, lemon aioli, crispy jamon) (4 of5); Patatas Braves (fried potatoes, paprika aioli, chili flakes ( 6 of5); Pulpo (Octopus, paprika, saffron potato ( 4 5 of5); Carillada de Ternera (braised beef cheek, PX sherry, saffron potato) 5 of 5; grilled steak, red chimichurri, mojo verde 5 of 5; finally traditional paella and a vegetarian paella (5 of5). Pitchers of sangria accompanied our meals and the piece de resistance the flan(must order) for dessert. A notable dining experience that must be repeated in this upscale restaurant. I could not take pictures, but each dish was nicely presented as well. Plenty of parking in nearby garages for a couple of dollars if you don't want street parking.

Absolutely delicious Spanish restaurant in downtown Sarasota! Every single dish was outstanding. We loved the artichokes so much and the paella. Their pricing is expensive but the food is high quality and the vibes of the restaurant are great. We will be back soon!

    12/24 Patatas Bravas - Orgasmic!!

Southern Basque tapas and Catalan paella joint with good food and good value. ++. Ambiance is eDgy, moody and Fun. It's definitely different than other SRQ restos. A mid-size restaurant with a good bar presence on the main floor. Across from it, tables are by their side windows. Additional tables are on the second floor... loft style overlooking the main floor. ++. Food is their (State Street?) take on Spanish tapas. Their dishes were heavier on sauces than other tapas bars I've tried. We didn't try their paella as no one can beat my mother's ;). Everything was well executed and tastelicious! These are what we tried. * Alcachofas Fritas - great light texture * Albondigas - satisfying * Patatas bravas - Phenomenal!! * Calamari - Good * Picanha - perfect temp & delicious! * Gambas ajilo - veggie heavy * Basque cheesecake - tart and creamy Our faves were patatas bravas with amazing paprika aioli sauce, Basque (La Vina) cheesecake, picanha with red and green sauces and alcachofas fritas for interesting presentation and texture. Their gambas ajillo was sautéed and had more veggies, which I appreciated but the balance could've been better. The meatball lover among us, really enjoyed more complex flavors in abondigas. The calamari was typical and def American and bar friendly. I so wish black ink sautéed version was served here. Although not strictly authentic, food here, is a refreshing interpretation and is delicious! Beso def adds an enchantment to SRQ dining and cocktail scene. +++. Price is reasonable and very good value for quality. ++. Service was prompt and attentive. Our server Matt was informative and his recommendations were on point. +. Parking is street or paid public lot. MY RATINGS - - - Inhumane - - Disgusted - Don't bother = Missed the Mark + Good ++ Better +++ EDIBLE... WHERE have you been all my LiFe!

We grabbed reservations for the outdoor area to enjoy the weather and were thankful for the shady tree cover. This time we opted for some bites and though the menus change seasonally, I would recommend anything featuring tomatoes. They use truly fantastic heirloom tomatoes that remind you what you're missing with the watery ones we get at the grocery store. Also recommend the Mediterranean Platter. It's full of veggies and the dips are YUM. As usual, the cocktails didn't disappoint. It's never a weekend in AMI without a visit here! Previous Review: 5 Stars for the best cocktails on AMI, and a craft cocktail bar vibe you wouldn't necessarily expect here. (Plus, the service is AMAZING) We walked in (no reservation) after dinner one weekend evening and we were greeted by Matt, who found us a spot at the bar. He gave us menus and a "wellness shot" -- delicious little concoction to wet your palate! Right away I was blown away by the interior and the menu. This looked like it belonged somewhere in Denver or Chicago, but I was thrilled to find it on the island! Matt helped guide us to drinks we'd like on the menu. I ordered the Purgatory, made up of Bourbon, chocolate bitters, agave and premium mezcal. It was divine!! We also ordered some warmed olives, and they were hot and so fragrant. Definitely something I'd order again at the bar. I was stoked to see they have a veggie-specific section on the food menu and can't wait to go back for dinner. I'll definitely make a reservation though, as it was pretty full. Next time, in terms of drinks, I have my eyes on the espresso martini (off menu, but saw a pic on Yelp), and the kiss kiss bang bang. Thanks to Matt and Emily who helped us with our drinks along the way. Sometimes these fabulous craft bars can be pretentious, but the service here was a huge standout. Can't wait to return!

I feel like the drinks used to be a lot more creative from what I saw on their socials and from what my friend said who went back in the day it used to be more of a speakeasy elevated cocktail vibe versus a tiki/dive bar vibe. We had to ask for the chips that are supposed to be given complimentary and then we ordered bread and soup which literally took an unnecessary like 30 mins or more to come out as we watched the people on both sides of us get their full meals before us when we got items that just had to be reheated. The tomato soup was very good once it finally came out, the rolls were good but nothing as great as the hype in my opinion for the menu. The drinks were good but honestly the starter shot given at the bar was my favorite which was a hibiscus Pom margarita which I ended up getting fully as my second drink. Service started out hot but then went downhill but that is unfortunately the standard of when gratuity is already included in a check. Then when it came time to pay it got weird when there was a simple mix up when my friend intentionally overpaid even with gratuity involved in her check and the bartender asked her if she wanted change and she said yes but never brought it back. My friend gave 3 - 20s on a $38 check (gratuity) already in but she wanted to tip a few more dollars because she is a very generous person and then when she asked about her change that's when it got weird and the bartender made it seem like she didn't understand why she wanted change instead of just apologizing for the mistake and they went back and forth for a few minutes with the bartender ending up just giving her the extra $20 back. Just left a weird taste in our mouths for the experience when I feel like any bartender would understand what she wanted to do with giving extra larger bills to split especially when she said she wanted change and it was a massive overpayment or if the thought there was a very generous tip like 30% would make sure with guest that's what they want and show appreciation if that were the case. It was just weird how it all was handled. The decor was on point for Christmas and the vibe was very casual but oldie vibes which makes sense for it being in Anna Maria island.
