Beso Sarasota was a really great dinner with our close friends and our kids, and it ended up being a very smooth and enjoyable experience. Service was excellent--the pacing of the food was especially well done, with dishes coming out at just the right intervals so we could actually enjoy everything as it arrived. Cocktails were well made, and our friends were very happy with the wine selection. We ordered a large portion of the menu, and most dishes were really flavorful and well executed, very true to what tapas dining should feel like. The only two things that didn't quite work for me were the vegetable paella and the mushroom toast, but everything else was solid to excellent. They also did a great job accommodating us with kids. We had a nice semi-private table upstairs, which made the whole dinner feel comfortable and easy for a group. Overall, it's a great place for both groups and date nights, and I'd happily return. read more

Was a very busy night downtown. Parked on the 5th level of the State Street parking ramp and the elevator was out of order! Not the best start. We ordered the watermelon salad and the Queso de Cabra. Both were very good. We then ordered the lamb skewers, the beef cheeks, shrimp and the potatoes. Everything was good except for the shrimp. We had the Flan for dessert which was great. The restaurant is very noisy so I would suggest getting an outdoor table. Our server was terrific with great service and suggestions. The restaurant has an upstairs, downstairs, bar and outdoor seating. We also enjoyed the Sangria. Our friend ordered a gin and tonic and a glass of white wine. He complained to the server how small the glasses were. Our bill for four of us was $260 which is way too high for the size of the portions. read more

Went out in downtown Sarasota for a friends birthday. Beso was a nice flashback to our honeymoon with some authentic Spanish Tapas and Sangria. They even gave us all a little bit of Cava on the house as a birthday gift which if you're not familiar is like Spanish champagne. Best has a great atmosphere for relaxed but sophisticated dining whether alone or with a bigger group. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and space at the bar too. The menu reflects traditional Spanish cuisine and is best experienced through ordering a series of "small plates". They have a large selection including meat, seafood and vegetables. The my favorite dishes were the octopus and the seafood paella. The anchovies were also a decent appetizer to try. Service was excellent and very attentive. Prices are definitely on the higher end. Perfect spot for a double date night! We came here recently for dinner with my wife and another couple, and it was a fantastic evening. We had one night in Sarasota, FL and decided to walk to Beso from our hotel. We tried the palomas and I thought mine was a bit too sweet, so I switched it out for a Boal Albarino. The boquerones white anchovies were good, and I think the pate' de higados (chicken liver mousse) was my favorite. The sobrassada was also quite good. For vegetables, we tried the patatas braves (fried potatoes, paprika aioli, chili flakes) and for cranes, the albondigas (pork and chorizo meatball, tomato). The boss didn't like the consistency of the cheesecake because it was not smooth. The best dish I enjoyed was the grilled cheese. That may sound silly, but the manchego was melted perfectly on a buttery toasted bread. The lamb skewers with couscous was delectible. The couscous was so fluffy and yummy. The shrimp with garlic was also flavorful and cooked perfectly. The service was excellent. I came to this restaurant while visiting Sarasota because someone recommended it to me before, honestly it did not disappoint. First, the service was great our waiter was a very nice guy from Spain, He helped us and recommended the best things from the menu. We started with drinks sangria and a mezcal cocktail called La Madrileña (If you like mezcal, that drink is amazing) The sangria was not too sweet, but still very good. Both drinks were really nice. For tapas, we got the patatas bravas, croquetas, and chorizo Everything was delicious. Pitchers of sangria accompanied our meals and the piece de resistance the flan(must order) for dessert. A notable dining experience that must be repeated in this upscale restaurant. Such a great find in Sarasota! Spanish tapas like I was back in Barcelona. The pan con tomate was just like in Spain. Perfect crunch on the grilled bread with that wonderful fresh tomato, olive oil and salty topping. So good. Next was the anchovies. Tender and tasty with a little crunch from the fresh made chips after. Then the artichokes. Surprisingly crunchy, close to too crunchy but mixed with the flavors on the plate was delish and sopped up every drop. The octopus was the star for me. Cooked so perfectly and tender, so tender. I didn't want that dish to end. I ate at the bar and wish I remembered the bartenders name. We were in the area because we were visiting the Ringling museum for my cousin's birthday! We just look up in Yelp and this restaurant immediately comes up, and as usual Yelp was right showing us this, we came in around 4pm I think is the time they open, the vibe was nice and the place was very nice and tidy, as soon as you walked in, you can see they put an effort on the decor and theme of the restaurant, just in awe! We were sat down and we ordered a couple tapas and appetizers to share within the table, the octopus was one of the best one I've ever had, it was so well prepared and seasoned and the pair with the potatoes that comes with it is just superb, I also liked a lot the pa amb oil and the sardines portugués, they are very good starters! I did not drink this time, but my friends ordered a sangria pitcher, and they were talking about it so I had to try a little bit and it was great, very well balanced, not to strong but at the same time you can really feel the wine. After that, we moved on to the main entrees, we order the mariscos paella, they advised you since the beginning that the paella usually takes more than half hour to cook, so we ordered as soon as we were ordering the drinks, then we the paella came, it was so worth the way, I think I can say it was one of the best paellas I've ever had in a really long time, it was just so great, we share our between 3 ppl so it was a very generous size. We are coming back for sure if we are in the area, one of the best restaurants ever for sure. We ordered cocktails and the bar tender was an attentive gentleman and the drinks were tasty. I had no complaints about our waitress she was very nice and helpful. On our second night we went back and ordered many tapas. Artichokes, steak, anchovies, trout, croquettes, and churros. The artichokes, steak, and anchovies were at the top of my list. The trout was unique and interesting, the croquettes came in second. The churros were a little heavy tasting for my taste buds but the coco sauce with the churros was great! Food- Great. Customer service- TERRIBLE Long story short - We dined at Beso 3 times - Friends gave us a gift card in March of 2025 knowing we liked this restaurant. We spent May thru October visiting family up north - Made a res at Beso in November - Used the gift card - they declined it saying it was used in July. - We were in Pennsylvania in July - They noted the card used for the full amount, but they apparently did not ask the user for the card nor did they keep the card? - We had our card. We had to pay for our meal - they researched it but still still wouldn't honor the gift card - the CS person offered us a free paella. Thats it! Perhaps a glitch with the gift card company or a hacked card number? Not sure. They should have honored it as gift cards are a service THEY offered and should take responsibility for. In my opinion, even with excellent food, a lack of integrity will keep me from ever returning. Was it worth losing a repeat customer over a $100 gift card? Apparently so. Enjoyable dinner in a modern setting with floor to ceiling windows, and a spacious bar. Drinks were ok, sangria classico was on the dry side but I liked that it wasn't too sweet or overly carbonated. Bread with tomato, manchego, and ham was fantastic, if not particularly authentic. Same goes for the patatas bravas, which came tossed in a creamy chipotle-esque aioli. Several of the tapas dishes had common elements, I would have preferred more differentiation just for variety's sake. For example, beef cheek and pulpo (octopus) were both served on potato puree. Pulpo and trucha (trout) both had the same smoky flavor - though they were both delicious. The trout was cooked perfectly, flaky, and with crispy skin, served with a white bean sauce that complemented it perfectly. Croquetas were crunchy on the outside, creamy inside, but I struggled to identify the ham inside. Anchovies were yummy and beautifully presented, complemented by a bit of citrus and green olives, but I wasn't a fan of the potato chips that accompanied them. Overall, we're glad we tried this place and we were happy with our meal. However it's not necessarily a spot we'd visit every time we come to Sarasota, like we do with our other favorite restaurants. read more

Visited Beso on a rainy Tuesday night. The place has a very intimate setting and the few amount of customers emphasized it more. We were greeted quickly by a very nice host which took us immediately to our table. The server was very attentive at all times and seemed very knowledgeable about the menu. We started the meal with a charcuterie board which was delicious. We were very excited for the paella and the wait was worth it. All of the seafood was very fresh and well seasoned. For larger groups (we had 11) they apparently have a pre-set menu to taste through a bunch of their more popular options. Everything was incredibly good.
