short rib paella

This has rapidly become one of my favorite spots in Sarasota! The Iberico pork is better than most steaks that I'll get in this town.. and the paella is unbelievable! The owners are from Spain, so prepare every dish in authentic fashion, bringing us right back to the best of Spain! It's a must-try for sure!!

The food was very good in particular, the ham croquettes were to die for. Our main course of paella with chicken was very tasty. Our waitress was very good and accommodating. Made us feel at home. The decor is a little trendy but clean. A definite place in the rotation.

We were sad to see the old vegan restaurant go, but this has been a huge upgrade from a food standpoint. Totally opposite kind of food, but delicious! The chef is serious about his food. Real life, Spanish tapas here!! We started with the appetizer plate of cheese and meat, which were top quality. We moved on to the gumba/shrimp and broccolini, as well as the carpaccio. Everything was top grade. Service was really good and not rush They didn't do much to the interior, and they didn't have to. They did put up one big mural of a Spanish scene. It's actually very lovely My only complaint is the noise level. I hope they do something about it. It was quite difficult to hear in there, even though the crowd thinned out as the night wore on. Acoustical panels would help! Highly recommend for the food, and happy to see a vibrant scene in here full of people.

Alma de España is exactly what its name promises--the soul of Spain, beautifully brought to life. Every dish feels intentional, from the classic tapas executed with precision to the seasonal selections that show real respect for ingredients and timing. This isn't just a menu; it's a conversation between tradition and creativity. Alma de España doesn't rush you. It encourages you to slow down, savor, and connect--exactly the way great food "Alma de España -- The soul of Spain, shared." is meant to be enjoyed.

Phenomenal from start to finish! A 3 hour meal. Each succulent moment was divine. The Tapas plates (shared) brought flavors and visual happiness! We ended with Paella Ibiza = our way! We added grilled octopus. Perfect!. Our server was a delight. He knew each wine, each tapas, the entire menu! Our dessert, burnt cheesecake with guava sauce, well let's just say I am still dreaming about it. We topped the night off with Don Zoilo Sherry - compliments of the fabulous chef and owner Elier. We will be back! So much more to try! And the prices are reasonable! Love!

We had a great dinner at Alma de Espana. Started off with the octopus, which was perfectly prepared. Then had the classic paella.

Service was great and prompt. If you want paella, it does take 45 min so it's encouraged to order right when you get there so they can make it in time. Our favorite dishes were the tomato bread with cheese, potatoes, seafood paella, shrimp and the artichoke. The grilled manchego Spanish cheese was like a grilled cheese but spicier than we thought it would be. Paella was delicious and the shrimp had lots of garlic which we loved. We got sangria as a table too, which they only do red as pitcher. If you want white they do it by the glass! We ordered chocolate churros and flan for dessert. The flan is some of the best flan I've had - not soggy at all and very custard like. Delicious! Would definitely come back if we're in the area again.

It's got a relaxing beach vibe with outside seating and a nice patio in the back with enough shade. I could tell that they host nightly entertainment here with a small stage. For lunch, I ordered the lobster maki roll. I'm not a big sushi fan, but I was intrigued. This lobster roll was one of the best sushi rolls I've had in a long time. Also ordered include the blackened grouper sandwich, billionaire burger, and tempura shrimp appetizer. Our group loved every entree. The cocktails were also refreshing. I really loved my jalapeño watermelon margarita. Our server was wonderful - very friendly and quick service. Definitely an enjoyable lunch or dinner spot!

The parking place had ample parking where you needed a mobile app to pay for your parking. There was a larger souvenir store there if you needed to kill time before your seating. Once it was our time for our dinner reservations, we were greeted and seated at our table. Our waitress was a bit sarcastic or had a witty comments that didn't sit well with my kids. When ordering our foods, the kids asked what type of drinks they had since it was not listed on the menu. She said Coke but didn't elaborate that they had Coke products. Since she said Coke so fast our daughter didn't hear the response and asked her the question again where she just said that's a great question and ignored her and moved on. Food wise - we had the Peruvian ceviche, Peruvian chicken, I think I had a special grouper dish. The food was good. We were able to eat everything and the kids enjoyed their kids burger meals. Outside of the waitress comments, the place placed nice modern music to listen to and had the basketballs games playing on the tv at the bar.

While Bohemios is tapas, they also offer some full plate dishes such as the Paella and our other dish, Bohemios Churrasco. We definitely liked the food. The Paella had a mild familiar flavor. It could have used more seafood but for the price, I was more than satisfied. The Churrasco steak was cooked perfectly for me and their zesty chimichurri sauce made it excellent. I didn't try the side of Gallo Pinto, I don't really like most beans, but my wife seemed to enjoy it. The fried sweet plantains were delicious. Another thing I did enjoy was their Mediterranean Bruschetta, three pieces stacked high, what a great start to the meal. Bohemios is a smallish place with about 8 tables and maybe a dozen bar seats inside, a few more tables outside. Reservations are recommended. Our server was a fun, outgoing, memorable guy and we loved all our interactions. The pace of the meal was good, about 10 minutes for the Bruschetta, another 10 after we finished for the main course. We picked a bad day for only one reason, the guitar player was out with an injury.

I will also add that the wine and beer lists are very good. The soup of the day was very good too (I wish I could remember the exact name) but it was a mojo pork soup. The Caesar salad was also really good and I've had a few poor ones recently. The "Caprese" was outstanding. It came with multiple types of tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and the perfect amount of balsamic vinegar. There was also a sort of "side salad" plated with the caprese. The pork loin was prepared perfectly. It came with their amazing brussel sprouts and cheddar mashed potatoes. All in all, a truly wonderful experience. I can't wait to return soon. In my entire 67 years, I've never been served oysters without crackers and horseradish. I ate none of the oysters. My husband said smallest oyster he ever ate and definitely not worth the money. Our friend who also got oysters agreed. Then my calamari salad was served totally cold - I understand the salad is cold, but I expected the calamari to be hot - and I had to send that back. My husband did enjoy the lamb but at $50 it better be good. Finally strawberry shortcake dessert was not a shortcake. No whipped cream, again even when we asked the server to bring some. And no real strawberries except a slur. Together we still left half of it on the plate because the cake was so dry. Honestly we don't understand the hype behind this resturant.

It's like they don't even have a chef or a plan or a recipe. The wine glasses have an odor like the dishwasher isn't doing its job. Water stains on the glasses & silverware. No attention to detail. The famous 1905 salad - soggy lettuce and some kind of bottled dressing rather than fresh. My daughter ordered the Paella Marinera ( Seafood lovers Feast) $48 entree with only the shrimp lobster & scallops - UGH! My black beans were thick and just like they came out of a can with no preparation or seasoning at all. My husband ordered the Red Snapper Adelita a $42 entree - instead of being grilled it was battered & fried. The Sangria had a taste of something chemical I can't figure out what it was. Drinkable but definitely not the wonderful fresh fruity brandy feel that it should be - and definitely not enjoyable. I'm sorry to have to say these things - but I don't want your special event to be disappointing like ours was.
