This place has the best crab!! We had the King crab here and is the sweetest king crab I've ever had!! I also had the Virginia and Massachusetts oysters. I liked the Massachusetts oysters better than Virginia. The Virginia were a bit gritty. I've always eaten my crab steamed and when I ordered it here it came cold so I gave it a try and because it was so sweet it didn't need to be warm! Dipping it in the hot butter was perfect. The king crab was huge, I held it up to my finger for scale. The crab was from Dutch Harbor in Alaska so I immediately thought of Deadliest Catch. I've been here twice now and the service has been great! I love sitting outside enjoying the weather, ambiance at night with the lights, watching people walk by, and enjoying the food. We stopped in without a reservation and were pleasantly surprised by how accommodating the staff was. Chris greeted us as soon as we walked in and immediately found us a table in the bar area. He was not only our server but also tending bar for the restaurant, yet he never seemed rushed and provided attentive, friendly service throughout our meal. The menu is extensive, with plenty of options to suit a variety of tastes. It took me a while to decide, but I ultimately ordered the yellowfin tuna tartare, and it was the right choice. The tuna was exceptionally fresh, beautifully presented, and balanced with flavors that complemented rather than overwhelmed the fish. As we waited for our entrées, Chris brought over warm bread as well as smoked salmon pâté. It was an unexpected touch that made the experience feel even more welcoming and gave us something delicious to enjoy while we waited. Although we were seated in the bar area, the atmosphere was comfortable and conversational. The noise level was just right--not so quiet that you felt like you had to whisper, but not so loud that it distracted from the meal. Had a horrible experience at Crab N Fin on St Armands Circle in Sarasota last night. Waitress was a bit bothered, my wife ordered a Filet Steak Tartare appetizer but was pulled away, our granddaughter was a bit overtired and was taken home early by my daughter in law. She eventually got back to the table and we all commenced eating. The appetizer (ordered as an entree along with another one) just wasn't liked. We were hoping she might take the appetizer off the bill. Its not an inexpensive place, you know. Her response was, you should have told me earlier. We more or less dropped the subject. I saw her most likely explaining the situation to the manager, showing him the check. Well, he did nothing...the check was presented in full. Manager didn't come over to express regret or ask why we were less than pleased about the meal, or even offer a dessert. Food has been good for a long time here and most of our meals were superlative. They've lost long time customers. We'll never step foot in there again, and business was really scarce that evening. My wife dined there for years and years and loved Robert who was manager/host. He saw her kids grow up, every Friday for dinner. She is done with the Crab N Fin. I am too. We arrived 30 minutes early of our reservation in the hopes of having a drink at the bar, but the bar was filled with diners. This seems to be the new trend everywhere we go. Even more disappointing because we couldn't get happy hour prices for our drink because we were seated at a table. Our server was very friendly and quickly took our drink order. The list of cocktails and wines is extensive. I settled on a hibiscus infused cocktail with guava juice and lemonade. For me it was way too sweet. The menu is varied, but definitely geared toward seafood. There are no daily specials as the menu changes daily. I settled on a Caesar salad and the crab cakes. While waiting for my salad we were served salmon pate with some crackers and also fresh warm bread. Both were very good. My salad looked very nice and was good too. We had a large party with kids and wanted a table away from the crowds and they let us pick any table and even let us move underneath the heaters. Ambiance inside seemed to be more upscale. We live on LBK, and all of our visits, the service has always been ridiculously rushed, with the main courses always arriving before the appetizers were finished. We've been going here for valentines day for years but Went here for this Valentine's Day and the valentines menu left much to be desired. Everything with truffle and just nothing exciting. The bisque was delicious as usual but the stone crab was frozen and the new "reimagined" crème brûlée was awful. Mind you, it was 300 dollars so I would expect much better quality. My husband ordered a Bloody Mary and when asked if it had horseradish, he was told no. Came with a ton of horseradish. We decided to split the tuna with cold vermicelli noodles and the Cobb salad. I loved the tuna, seared perfectly with a ton of flavour. Cobb salad on the other hand was beyond boring. So we ordered chicken to throw on top. The smell of the burnt grilled chicken was so intense my husband thought the chicken was bad. Worse 27.00 Cobb salad I've ever had. I can't believe we spent 27.00 bucks for that. I'm from NY and it's not common on menus in the northeast so this was a treat. My wife had the whole yellowtail snapper . Both extremely fresh and flavorful. This is the first review I've ever written because I usually don't complain. I ordered the halibut, which cost $64. Unfortunately, it tasted like it had been cooked the day before. The fish was extremely dry, and the aftertaste was unpleasant. I mentioned it to our waiter, and he said he would let the chef know. So of course we ordered fish when it's caught the same day that we're about to eat it. My hubby had the grouper and I had the branzino. The fish was cooked perfectly and we really enjoyed our choices. However, the grouper was a very small portion. As a person who weighs her food because I am on Weight Watchers, it looked like it wasn't even 6oz. Pricey for the portion. It was served with roasted rainbow carrots which were so good because hubby shared. My branzino was delicious, but I had a few bones that were missed when filleting the fish. Crab and Fin is an upscale restaurant right in the heart of St Armand's circle. It's larger than it seems, with outdoor seating, a nice inside bar and an upstairs (I didn't venture up there). Being an upscale place, service was very good and our booth was very comfortable. We brought our own special bottle of wine and paid the $20 corking fee. I had the scallops, which were surprisingly tiny, but good. The overall portions of our meals were fairly small as well. As they're going for the upscale feel, pricing matched as well. It's changed over the years to this large plate. We still get it bc the King crab is wonderful. But it was much better years ago. Last nite's clams were really fishy, the oysters were OK and the cocktail shrimp were overcooked. We had an 8 pm reservation on a Friday nite. The restaurant was lively and seemed packed inside. There were a few empty tables outside (which are first come first serve), and live music with a pianist outside. Our experience last nite was meh. Our server didn't talk about where the oysters were from and we had to request bread. She did recommend the desserts which were good. We will probably just get the king crab next time. Only non seafood items on the menu were steak offerings at $40 and up. What really turned me off was when one person in our party asked if they could give her another vegetable besides asparagus on her order. The waiter said they could give her string beans but at a $3.00 up charge. Her dish was $40 for a 5oz steak and you wouldn't change asparagus for string beans unless we pay $3.00?
