This is a tough one. Half the meal was terrific, half was not. We were a party of 8 and got seated quickly. Summer was a fabulous waitperson, got our drinks to us right away. On to the food.... The crab and cheese dip was underwhelming- No crab chunks only blended strings and not hot. A bowl of clam chowder- a cup was delivered and also not hot. When the error was pointed out and told the situation was fine as-is, a bowl was brought out and we were charged for both bowls. The blackened chicken Alfredo was fantastic with the Angel hair pasta and the blackened salmon was incredible. The shrimp scampi is ok, swimming in a sea of butter. Greeted and seated immediately. Met our waitress, Emma, who took drink orders and explained menus. Nautical themed wall coverings. Pulled brown paper table coverings and brown rolled napkins.The special page is straight forward. The main menu is large and dense to plow through with too many choices. We went for fish sandwiches both maki and grouper blackened with sides. One of our party went for the chicken sandwich. We had the smoked grouper app to start. Tasty. Service was fast. Drinks wer kept full. Fish portions were small but tasty with a very mild blackening seasoning. Fries were crispy. Coleslaw was super shredded ( not my favorite choice of cut) and fairly bland. My coconut shrimp was almost as amazing as our waitress, Traci! Service was fast and food was fresh!

Our server was excellent, trained to do her job very well. It feels like a chain restaurant, you can get "buckets" of their cocktail offerings, which sounded weird and low-rent to me but I guess some people like that. Arrived during happy hour for a quick snack before checking into our hotel. We sat at the bar. The parking lot was crowded and people were already waiting for tables. I found this odd because on the east coast of FL the lines usually form a few hours later (around 6). The bartender (Tanya) was immediately attentive. She drew a whale on the large paper they put down for you which was cute. Our appetizers came out quickly. The crab dip was watery at first but over time turned to a congealed gob- the taste was the same just no longer drippy. The bar area is super small and was crowded the whole time we were there. Everything was cold. Could not taste the crab in the soup. Fake sauce on crab claws luke warm also ordered blue crab claw cluster came out cold with another type of fake sauce with a lemon after taste that made sauce bitter poured over the crab, asked for drawn butter and old bay. The crab cluster meat had no flavor steamed or cooked in just water or how ever they cook it was very bland and not juicy or moist, lumped crab meat out of the can has more flavor and personality. Pinchers was the place we chose to go last night The menu on their the website looked just right. We called ahead and they put us on the list When we arrived 30 minutes later there was a table within our midst. Our waitress Brenda was nice enough to say, "you have five more minutes for happy hour prices" I quickly ordered one dozen raw oysters, one dollar each, they came with the condiments and the appropriate spices. Brenda reminded us that the prices for wine was two for one Chardonnay for my dates and Pinot Grigio for me, after all was said and done. We focused on the menu it was time to order dinner I already had the oysters so very good, I was way ahead, so far, I was a winner! One guest had the crab cake with sides of apple sauce and broccoli She was disappointed, as the crab cake did not have the right consistency. The cake was shredded, no lumps of crabmeat with lots of bread, seemed processed, it was not what she expected. She thought, it was frozen, the zapped in the microwave, delivered to the table, that's what she detected. The other guest had the salmon with cole slaw and broccoli Her take was, typical salmon filet nothing special, she said, "did not do anything for me!" I had the fried shrimp with baked beans and slaw I must admit they were the smallest shrimp I ever saw! They looked as if they were frozen and microwaved and served on the platter Tasted processed not what I expected, but maybe to Pinchers it really does not matter. I will admit the slaw was delicious and the beans tasted very good But the fish from Pinchers, for all of us, did not taste fresh, as it should. The service was excellent and the ambiance was just fine But the fish, except for the fresh oysters, from Pinchers was not worth the dine. Omg the food was Busssin BUSSIN for being a family owned chain, it was probably best food we had in the area. Our server tray or trey idk but he was good. He was super busy and he was smart enough to have another server help us while we were busy. The food was really good. I highly recommend eating here and having trey or tray as your server. Without a reservation with the more local eateries we came across Pinchers just out on the edge of town. The place was nearly full with guests but were seated promptly. The place looked clean and we were served right away. The food was good and prices were reasonable. We will definitely go back and recommend it for a quick bite and drink. read more

All in all there are much better seafood places in the area. I'm sorry we spent $ on a place that wasn't local. The grouper nuggets were bland. Hush puppies were hot, but how do you mess up those? The crab and corn chowder was my favorite part of the meal. My us and ordered clam chowder and we had to flag down a server for some crackers. When our meals arrived they were served by someone other than our waitress so we had to flag her down again to notify her that my husband's side orders were wrong. My shrimp tacos were overflowing with lettuce and cheese but not much shrimp. I asked for extra sauce on the tacos but never tasted any. Tacos were hard to eat as the tortilla seemed so chewy that it may have been stale? The fries were cold and hard, perhaps they were sitting out too long. My husband's salmon was unremarkable, which is a shame since it was a special. Had to flag the waitress down for refills. They didn't seem busy. It was a real shame. We will not return. read more

Although the food can be good, the service is not good. Our waitress placed our order incorrectly and then was very snotty about correcting it. She didn't inform the manager that I wanted to speak with them. I had to get up and find one myself. The manager attempted to correct the problem but by then, my wife was disappointed and unhappy. The final insult was when the waitress literally threw the bill on our table as she rushed by. We were unhappy, annoyed and hungry when we left, opting for fast food after this awful experience. This was probably the fault of the waitress who claimed " I put the order in right but the kitchen didn't pay attention"! It really doesn't matter whose fault it was just that it happened. There are far better places to dine where the employees care whether or not they do a good job. It certainly didn't happen at Pincers. read more

We were attacked at pinchers today ...an angry woman f bombed me for no reason and broke a glass at the bar and walked by me and hit me and the staff did nothing..in fact the varstaff said I should defuse the situation...I don't think it is my job to keep order in their bar...food not great so I won't miss it...I will never return I'm in shock police were called...and nothing was done...very sad read more

Ate here on Jan 11th - 2022. Bottom Line -Much "Much" better options in the area. As my mother admonished me to always say something positive. Will first start there - 2 for 1 draft beer for $6.50 - a very decent deal. Cole slaw in a small plastic cup was best part of the meal. It wasn't great but not bad. Now for everything else. We went there as they advertised Conch fritters. We previously lived in the Caribbean & Key West and know a good conch fritter. I should have gotten a clue when the food runner dropped them off and announced - "Order of hush puppies!". Yep, $14 for a few balls of fried dough sans any conch. My wife had the grouper tacos (2) for $20 like the conch fritters -long on filler and short on fish - she had the same (grouper fish tacos) at a local place 1/2 mile away had twice the the amount of grouper per taco in her three tacos for $14.50. I had the grouper sandwich - an enlarged fish stick on a small bun. Side options are sad - nothing green except green beans. Hand cut fries were soggy. Other side options are applesauce? & garlic toast? I know Venice is a senior population but applesauce?? Really. If you want Seafood - look elsewhere if you want cheap draft beer and fill up on limp fries (& applesauce) then this place will hit the spot. read more

When we arrived at 9pm the hostess told us that it would be an hour wait?! Really. The restaurant was hardly full. This was disconcerting as an hour wait would be when the restaurant would close. We wanted to have dinner so we asked if we could eat on the bar which was full. Tracy the bartender was awesome and welcomed us to a table in front of the bar. We were a little miffed at the hostess and we told her how we were welcomed. She apologized and all was well thanks to her hospitality and great service! First came the two-for drinks: he had draft beer & I had margaritas w/ salt on the rocks! The hostess irritation began to fade... We started with the steamed shrimp with Old Bay (our fave) and it was delicious. We are used to bigger shrimp but still an excellent appy with drawn butter. He ordered the King Crab legs with garlic mashed potatoes and I had the snow crab legs with the green beans and baked beans sides. Our dinner was very good. Thanks to our 5-Star server/bartender Tracy! We also ended sharing a Key Lime Pie dessert. Pinchers came through and despite the rude hostess and all kudos to Tracy! Imagine that hostess turning away hungry customers who WANT to eat and spend money at a restaurant. Thank you Tracy. You were the best! read more

Saturday lunch-For starters, Traci, our waitress was outstanding! She did everything right, checking on us several times, her suggestions and answers to questions were spot on. The two of us shared our lunch so we could try more stuff. Crab Rangoon appetizer, Grouper sandwich, shrimp tacos, baked beans, coleslaw, and fresh green beans. Everything tasted great. Extra plates were left for sharing as well. BTW, 2 for1 margaritas were awesome as well. It was the perfect lunch with a perfect setting overlooking the water as well. It was a fantastic restaurant, I got the mahi mahi and it was perfectly seasoned. They brought the food out relatively quick as well. It was definitely a crab shack, the walls were covered in decorative fish and painting of light houses. read more

My boyfriend and I were driving down from Tampa when we stop at the Venice Beach location. We had the smoked grouper dip which was our favorite. It is amazing. We asked if they sold it by the pound as they did with their other fish but it was only available for take out. We would have taken two orders to go but we had to drive 3 more hours to Miami. I had the grouper nugget sandwich and my boyfriend has boom boom shrimp. Everything we had was good. This is now my go to restaurant when I visit the west coast of Florida.
