The specials were a great option for anyone who wants fresh seafood, and upon walking in there's a lg display of fresh fish. We were seated promptly and waitress (Chloe-was busy but did a great job) I ordered the blackened grouper stuffed with crab cake. The grouper was good, the crab cake was disgusting (it was mushy & tasted like stuffing made with swamp water-not to mention it was a bit green) I told waitress who had manager come over and after we both explained how bad it was she did remove that crab cake from bill & offered us free slice of key lime pie which we took to go & can say neither of us liked-but was a nice gesture. Had to ask for old bay seasoning twice and finally got it after majority of meal was done. The Sangria was delicious, decor was interesting-very laidback with pics and writing on the walls with a beach design (It's 5 o'clock somewhere etc) overall I wasn't impressed! We hadn't been to Pinchers in a long time so we decided to give it a try. We enjoyed the crab dip appetizer but the entrées were not worth the money. My husband decided to splurge on the grouper special with crabmeat. The sauce was so spicy that it covered up the taste of the fish which was just as well because the fish by itself had no flavor. Went to Pinchers Venice for a birthday meal and was sorely disappointed. I ordered the fried oysters and my dining partner had the soft-shell crabs. The oysters were minuscule, dry and cooked beyond recognition, appearing and tasting only like extra crunchy balls of batter. To add insult to injury, both the oysters and fries arrived lukewarm. My partners fried soft-shells were limp and also served at a tepid temperature. The serving of coleslaw was tasty but just too small. We complained to our waiter and he promptly disappeared. Even without considering the meal being overpriced, I have to say that this was one of the worst dining experiences ever at a "seafood" restaurant. We will never return. read more

Solid food and service. Started with drinks at the bar as there was a short wait. Bartender was super friendly and drinks were excellent. We didn't wait more than 10-15 minutes for a table and once seated the waiter also was very friendly and food came out quickly. Used Yelp's Wait List feature to book a last minute table here for 6 people the day after Christmas and was impressed with how easy it was to use. We were seated immediately when we arrived. My grandparents love this place and after visiting with them, I clearly know why! Our server Ashely was helpful, friendly, and prompt all evening long. The restaurant is big and easily allows many large groups/family's to be served at once. We got there just in time for happy hour (which included most drinks as buy one, get one free) and they honored that offer for our entire meal. I ordered the Snow Crab meal and it was delicious. Very fresh seafood and their asparagus was doused in garlic and butter- delicious! We also enjoyed their coconut shrimp appetizer (also on the happy hour menu). We were seated pretty close to that time. The calamari was delish. I don't know if we were all just starving, or it was really that good? My family got the Boom-Boom shrimp and I got the stuffed grouper. The fresh cut fries were great. The grouper I got had a strange floral taste. I don't know if it was the fish or the crab on top. Great seafood! Always fresh and delicious. They use local vendors for their vegetables. I've tried other places but they always deliver.

We visited Pinchers in Venice Beach, which was across the street from our hotel, three times on our recent trip. During this time I had and/or shared a number of items: - Stuffed Grouper (special) - They brought me the wrong dish at first, but made it right efficiently. I ordered the grouper blackened style. It was tasty overall, although I found that the blackening spice could have used a bit less salt and they could have been a bit more generous with the stuffing. I had garlic mashed potatoes and garlic green beans, and both of these were very good. At $32, I thought it was a bit overpriced; based on value I'd see a price point of $24-26, perhaps $28 if they upped the stuffing a bit. - Blackened Grouper (special) - my wife had this with garlic bread and garlic green beans, and declared it excellent. - Crab Rangoon (appetizer) - all parties agreed this was very good. Wontons were crisp. The individual pieces were small but contained a good amount of filling given the size. - Conch Fritters (appetizer) - again, all parties enjoyed these. They were tasty, and the presence of conch in the fritters was clearly evident. Shrimp Scampi - I had this with angel hair pasta. The pasta was cooked exactly right, and the sauce was above average. As advertised, the amount of shrimp provided was generous. The service was great, and the restaurant was very generous with respect to the adult beverages. We shall return. read more
