On 11/17/25 my husband and I took a friend there for lunch to celebrate her birthday. They were not at all busy so we were seated quickly, and our waitress was very nice. My husband and I both ordered the fish & chips. We were not thrilled with the fish but it was ok, it was edible; however, the fries were so obviously overcooked (dark brown), dry and hard that although we both love french fries and we both were quite hungry, neither of us could eat many of the fries because they were so unappealing. I expected the waitress to notice that and mention it, and I was disappointed that she did not. I did not ask our friend how her shrimp were, because I did not want to put her on the spot if she was as unhappy with her meal as we were. We appreciated that she was given a slice of Key Lime Pie because of her birthday, but the meals my husband and I had were truly disappointing. I only had two issues with this place 1) our server was so overwhelmed with taking care of multiple tables, that she wasn't able to provide the best service. She was super sweet, and was working hard to take care of everyone, but I feel like it was almost impossible for her. We waited for long periods for her to come back and check on us. 2) I think $70 is ridiculous for 2 crab legs. I made a reservation for 6 (3 kids/3 adults) on Yelp and had a few issues with communication between the Yelp reservation and host stand. When we finally arrived we were greeted pleasantly in the midst of many many reservations and were sat within 5-10 minutes. The service is truly exceptional from the front doors to the kitchen staff. It's a huge place, high top and low tables suitable for every party and each individual (handicapped/stroller/elderly/adolescent). We ordered many different dishes that I cannot remember but I know we ordered the little crab claws in some oil based sauce and it was so delicious!! My nephew took apart the claw meat and made a po-boy with the French bread provided. Everything we ordered was fresh, hot, and we'll seasoned. Sometimes places over salt fried items but not the case here. The ONLY stipulation, on the conch fritters: the conch was very chewy compared to the rest of the fritter. The fritter flavor was very yummy but the conch itself was just too chewy. I definitely want to go back and try them again because this place just had unbeatable FLAVOR and I hope I just had a tiny over cooked batch. The wait staff is so amazing and generous and they work so well together. There's a fluidity and family feel to this environment that I've only seen at sit-down restaurants in Texas. Let me say up top, the staff was great! Everybody on staff was nice and accommodating. Please don't punish the staff for decisions made at a higher level than the hourly wage-earners. That aside, here were the main problems: - Really underwhelming, tube-shaped "fish n' chips" - The music was deafening. Loud in the bathrooms, loud in the private rooms, loud in the waiting area. Louder than I'd want it at an actual house party, even after we had it turned down a bit for our party's room - Totally raw crab dish. Inedible. - The bathroom had a "salt scrub" advertised as a "doctor-approved salt scrub that kills/deactivates the Coronavirus," placed in both bathrooms by management and sold by an company called "Secret of the Islands." The FDA sent a formal warning to the company's president on August 10, 2021, requiring that they stop marketing a product as a drug that hasn't been approved and claims to be able to "deactivate" the Coronavirus with salt, no water, and no actual disinfectant. The scrub was placed directly between the only available sinks, confusing multiple customers into thinking it was the only available soap. Not only is this fraudulent, it's dangerous, as anyone who fails to wash their hands is even more at risk in Florida's unregulated public sphere. Tl;dr - Went for a family-friendly bite to eat and left with a worse impression of the state. Everybody get vaccinated. read more

Our waitress and all the staff was friendly and attentive, the food was delicious, and the ambiance is fun! We had the coconut and boom boom shrimp, salmon cooked with the lemon sauce and big fish sandwich. The baked beans were my favorite side that I tried-super delicious! Portions are huge as well. There is no real sitting area while you wait for a table except for a busted springs arm chair that you need help getting out of or skinny wood benches on the way to the bathroom. The food was not a high quality - but the dogs enjoyed the fish we brought home. We didn't stay for dessert. The best part of the meal was the ice sweet tea. The Fish and Chips was soggy and tasteless. The "cut to order" French fries were NOT fresh. The hush puppies were nothing like I'm used to, being from the South and the "Cajun mayonnaise was nothing I ever tasted in New Orleans or any place on the Gulf! The tartar sauce was basically oily mayo, the red sauce didn't have enough horse radish, there were cheap rolls of paper towels on the tables and butcher paper on the tables. Not classy at all. Pinchers reminds me of what fun, chain restaurants used to be like: lots of awesome decor to play "I Spy" with your family, waiters that would write on the tablecloth, kids eating for free, etc. So there's a sense of nostalgia I had walking into Pinchers. We came on a Friday night with family and it was pretty busy. There was a 30-45 min wait but we waited at the bar and enjoyed their all-day/everyday 2-for-1 special on their drinks. It was easy to know when our guests table was ready since they texted us. We started with the hot crab dip as an app, very flavorful and not too salty. Enough to share for a 4-6 people. I had the Alaskan King crab with a side of rice and green beans. They gave me all the tools to work with my crab. The only thing is the crab shell was very soft and made me wonder about freshness or if they just over steamed it. The crab inside was great although already tasted buttered up so didn't need to add mucb more. We were too full to go for dessert although the options looked tasty. Florida institution, call ahead to get on the list so the wait is shorter. We had amazing oysters and at happy hour they lower the price. They ditched the generic IPA for High 5 (Ft Myers) which I appreciate. Freshest fish, we had the grouper both grilled and broiled and the grilled had a smoky flavor that we preferred. We were seated immediately but then proceeded to wait 15 minutes before we had to flag someone down to find our waiter. Likely, Summer was kind enough to take our drink orders even though it wasn't her table. We finally put in our food order after getting our drinks and continued to wait. Eventually all of our food came at the same time - appetizers and main courses dumped on the table. I ordered the crabcake dinner with rice and green beans. The crab cake was advertised as jumbo lump and it was neither. You can see from the pictures that it is over 50% filler (aka breading). What little crab was there was dry and flavorless. The rice was basically rice-a-roni out of the box. After dinner Summer came by and explained there was a mix up in table assignments and no one was assigned to our table. She offered us free key lime pie for the mistake which I thought was redeeming and nice. They brought out one small slice of pie for the entire table and only one fork! To add insult to injury, they made us pay the sales tax for the 'free' piece of pie. This place is absolutely a joke. There are so many better choices for seafood in the area. We like to go to Pinchers later in the evening but we find it very unpleasant when the staff starts cleaning the floors, moving furniture around etc while we are still eating in at our table. It's very rude and unprofessional. We felt like we were in your way and you wanted us to leave the restaurant as quickly as possible. We pay the same price for our food as the guests who arrived at 5:00 pm yet the final cleaning doesn't go on when I eat at Pinchers at 5:00. Pinchers is a family restaurant, not some back alley barroom. Be respectful to all your paying guests by cleaning the restaurant after you close. Other restaurants do this so I'm sure you can come up with a more appropriate and professional way to do housekeeping After all your paying guests leave. We arrived at 2: PM on a Monday afternoon. Hardly any cars in the lot. Got inside and only 3-4 tables occupied and 2 people at the bar. There were at least 12 empty tables. We asked for a table and was told it would be 15-20 minute wait for a table. Absolutely ridiculous and I'm sure they are understaffed but that's their loss. We went to "The Point Restaurant " and had a wonderful meal, great service and was seated immediately. We will never set foot at any Pinchers location again. read more

Trued Pinchers twice this trip. They are a casual restaurant with decent prices and tasty seafood. I've tried the crab cake and also the fried shrimp. Both came with home cut fries, which are fresh. Had the Cole slaw once and greens beans the second time. Both were good, though green beans had a little too much garlic for me. Wine and other drinks come as 2 for wine so the drinks are very reasonable. Nice patio to eat outside. I'd recommend it for dates or family. read more

I was there yesterday with my family and the food was very good. I had the Shrimp Sampi with Garlic Bread. Usually I don't eat Shrimp Scampi because other places makes it with so much butter. But here, it was more brothy than oily and very flavorful. This is the first time, that I actually took the garlic bread and kept dipping it in the scampi sauce. The people I stayed with wasn't keen on trying the place out so we finally went in for to go food since the restaurant we ate at(Drunken Poet) left all of us hungry. We ordered the 12 Blue Crabs clusters in garlic and butter sauce, Fish n Chips with fries and garlic mashed potatoes, shrimp pasta, and 2 Conch fritters. All came out to $92. The conch fritters weren't what I expected because I didn't think it would taste so much like hush puppies. The Fish n Chips were really tasty and very crispy. I really enjoyed the mashed potatoes as well. I definitely will come back if I am ever in the Venice area. I would really like to dine in one day. This was a rather large establishment with lots of pictures and signs related to fishing and seafood on the walls. Fresh seafood could also be purchased here. The menu had lots of options and "happy hour" prices all day long. The service was friendly and the food came out in a timely matter. For appetizers, the hot crab and cheese dip ($11) was ordered as well as the conch fritters ($10). The dip was labeled as having some spiciness to it, but I did not taste any. The dip was good, but had a poor balance of cheese and crab. It was way too cheesy. The conch fritters were better because of the conch sauce that was provided. The fried conch was cooked to perfection. For my entrée, I went with blackened pompano ($18). This came with 2 sides and I opted for the beans and corn on the cob. The beans were tasty and flavorful, but the corn on the cob was boiled way too long. The pompano was solid. The skin made it a little tough, but the seasoning had a slight kick to it and went well with the fish. For dessert, their signature Key Lime pie was ate ($6). It was small given the price. Visited my mother here in FL. Took her to dinner here. First visit for us both. She ordered the shrimp scampi. My order was blackened salmon with fresh green beans and close slaw. When the food came, hers was correct and she thought it was delicious. Mine was correct sides but shrimp instead of salmon. Ok no biggie. Happens. So they took it back. 15-20 min later after my mom was mostly done with her plate they bring out the super small potion of salmon with french fries instead of the fresh green beans. Twice they got the the SAME order wrong. I wasn't going to wait for them to get it right while my mother sat there with a finished plate for the next half hour. Needless to say no manager came out to apologize or explain. Left it to the young high school waiter to do it. Maybe for regular visitors this was an isolated incident that can be brushed under the table due to great previous visits. Unfortunately it was out first. And last. They get a lot of people. I'm sure it's hectic. But attention to detail and getting orders right are basic staples of being in the restaurant business. read more
