The best eggplant parmesan sandwich I have ever had in my life. And I'm from the Italian-American filled East Coast, so that's saying a lot. It's been a long time since I wrote a review on here, and my how Yelp has changed! To spare a lengthy diatribe too tangential for a food website, I'll get to the point. It's a bad sign if you decide it pertinent to write a review of an establishment mid meal (take away, obviously). If the food was so fantastic that my intentions were born from excitement, an ensuing food coma would force pause until after the dish was cleared. Besides, as much as I like writing, I wouldn't let a good meal go cold. Half of my Antipasti salad and eggplant parm sandwich sit in front of me as I type. Now, let me blow my usual tune to set the stage. I've been to Italy over 15 times. I've eaten food anywhere from on the street, to museums, to people's homes with their Mother and her family ragu. From Palermo to Milano, I'm lucky enough to say I am very familiar with Italy. I know what authentic food is, but more importantly I know when that is even relevant. I know "Americanized" Italian food and can sometimes crave it over "authentic". That out of the way, this food is a grey spot on a grey wall on a cloudy day. I can't even say it's disappointing. You sort of know what's coming to you in a strange way once you set foot through the door. Without sounding overly mystic, this food feels bored. Bored when it was prepared, and bored when it was served. I was salivating from the thought of eating a huge salad with pepperoncini peppers...I get so nostalgic and hungry just typing that! That's all my salad needed to have for me to be happy. I read it on the menu, they're listed as an ingredient...what could go wrong? Here, they sliver the peppers so that they fold into the salad like juice-less flecks of dull. Why? I've heard of putting a dress on a pig, but this is like a flesh colored body suit on a pig....more effort for no result with impact. Sure, I've seen ringlets of peppers rather than whole in salads. While this is by no means an undiscovered travesty to me, the sting makes it feel so brand new. Even with ringlets, I get more tang than what they have at Pietro's. They're like little flakes...dry and miserable. Kind of like my mouth right now. Again, I know this seems like a tiny detail. Some places do, and some places don't. There's just nothing else here to redeem this bowl of grass. I now fear I've written the type of review I hate to read. A person griping over some miniscule detail that's presence is totally a matter of preference, not standard. At least I'm not complaining about parking. The sandwich, I forgot what that tasted like already. It did have raw bell peppers in the sauce which angered me. Maybe you like that? Essentially, the sandwich ended up tasting like cold bell peppers....so, like my salad. I did have some cheese ravioli here once that wasn't bad...again, maybe because I was craving some simple, Italian-American food and was so hungry I wasn't going to discriminate unless the dish came out different colors than red and white. The sole reason this place doesn't get one star. Man, the pepper slivers are making me mad....still! read more

I love the antipasto salad, I've ordered the chicken parmigiana with pasta and it's a hit or miss depending on who's cooking it. I guess they just hired new workers so they seem to not know how to cook very well. so I don't order the chicken parmigiana anymore, I will just stick to the salad from now on until they get stable people that know how to cook. read more

Do not go here as you will only be dissapointed. I decided to try it because it is right next door to the infamous Roma Deli. Needless to say I would never come back to this place. As an earlier Yelper noted this place is cheap on the two main components of the sandwich; the bread; and the meat. I ordered to hoagie, which was all bread and low end meat at best. Think Subway quality from 10 years ago. My wife had the turkey and provologne took two bites and threw the sandwich out. The turkey was slimy and gross. If you are hungering for good Italian food, pass on Pietro's. The meal started out promising with the antipasto salad, which seemed crisp and fresh. However, the sandwich was completely lacking in flavor and texture. I ordered the eggplant parm sandwich, which was listed on the menu as "DELICIOUS!" (yes, in capital letters). So, naturally, I thought it would taste good. It did not. The bread was toasted nicely, but the insides of the sandwich were some of the worst I have ever eaten. The eggplant was tasteless, flavorless, and soggy. It was complete mush. There was no crispy outer coating on the eggplant. The sauce was flavorless. It tasted like tomato paste that you would pour out of a can. There are plenty of good little sandwich shops and Italian restaurants in the Pasadena area. This is not one of those places. read more

Ordered the pizza over the phone.. First time eating there.. My father, husband and son went to pick up the pizza.. Extremely rude!!!! Didn't greet them when they walked in. Barely gave them a thank you... Customer service counts for everything. First and last time we will be ordering from them. They had to say hello to the workers and even then they didn't respond. For takeout pizza, it doesn't get any better. Yes, their prices are higher than the chains, but you get 2-3x more toppings than at Papa Johns (which is in my opinion the best chain pizza, at least with a location nearby my house.) I recommend the Sicilian, to which I like to add anchovies and Italian sausage. Their sauce is flavorful, and the crust is crunchy. And while you're there, stop by Roma's next door for the best in prosciutto, cheese, and Italian groceries. read more

Good spot to grab a quick sandwich for lunch, the prices are a little high but given the options around you sort of just cope with it. My only issue is I always ask for it hot aka toasted but more often than not I get a cold sandwich. Their bread is a little tough so toasting it makes it easier to chew, 10.50 for a small sub, chips and a small fountain drink, only to not get for what I asked. My boyfriend and I were driving by the area and came across "romas" but unfortunately they only carry one sandwich and I'm not too fond of salami. So, that's how we stumbled into pietros next door.. I got the chicken parmesan sandwich which was pretty mediocre (the ones I make at home are better.) I mean it wasn't too bad but the chicken was a little dry and they could have better sauce. I would give them 3/4 stars but THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE. The gentleman watching the front was so grumpy, I mean no customer service skills what so ever. Not even a "hi, how are you" "thank you" absolutly nothing. I truely hope this man was not the owner because that would just be sad. Jersey Mike's is a better choice overall, but not having to drive into downtown is the main reason I go here. Not good. The eggplant parmesan tasted like... nothing. I literally couldn't tell what it was in it - fish? meat? mushroom? eggplant? I tried looking, but it looked like it tasted - like some mush that was fried in some stinky oil and then left to sit in the kitchen for a day or two. The sauce was standard, and the bread tasted stale. Just terrible. They do have cannoli, but the shell was soggy like it was filled last week. Not a chance I'm going back. read more

The pizza is really good here. The problem is that you never know how long it's going to take for them to make it. They always say 20-25 minutes and then when you come to pick it up thy haven't even started it yet. Expect at least 45 minutes for a pizza to be made. The guys are working hard but probably need more workers to handle the volume of clients they get. read more

I went to Pietro's today for the first time. I ordered a Pietro's Hoagie sandwich (large) and went with the combo meal which comes with chips and a drink. Out the door this combo was $10.77. I am giving this visit only two stars because the sandwich was only so-so: way too much bread, skimpy on the cold cuts and cheese, and too expensive for what you get. For over $10, I would have expected a true Italian Submarine sandwich. I am not sure if I will be returning to this joint. read more

I love, love, love pietros!!!! I was born and raised in Pasadena and used to eat here at least 3 times a week, but since ive moved to Lancaster ive been missing the antipasto salad, the hoagies, the calzones, the pizza, and the spaghetti. There is no place here in lancaster that can compare to pietros. Whenever hubby and I are in the Dena area we end up going here to bring back my memories of childhood, Pietros will always have a customer in me, I gave it 4 stars because they need to broaden the business and put one here in lancaster LOL read more

Went here for lunch, got the pastrami and it was ok. Doesnt set itself aside from other spots. Would i get it again? No. Would i recommend it? Sure. Their skimpy on the meat. No love on the meat. If they loaded it up, i would recommend it all day. One HUGE negative was that the worker was preparing sandwiches without gloves, bare skin...that was gross! He was grabbing trays and opening compartment doors then grabbing cheese, meat and bread...cross contamination. I told the owner about my concern and he asked his employee to put on gloves. Got the pastrami sandwich . I got it hot but you should order it cold because the bread isn't that thick so it was a little dry because the bread was toasted. It was nonetheless yummy and filling . Today I was excited to Try Pietro's for my lunch break. My husband grabbed a sandwich from the deli next door and I paid $8+ for a calzone at Pietro's. We sat down at a table after we had ordered and were told that my husband could not eat his sandwich from next door even though I had purchased food from Pietro's. They would not even let us sit and wait for our food at a table and pretty much kicked us out. This put a dent in our lunch hour as we had to get it to go and had already paid for the food. It took a long time to get our food and as we sat in the front of the store the older man who works there (maybe the owner) gave us very blatant dirty stares. The service was HORRIBLE! They didn't just not show appreciation for our business they took it a step further and ruined our afternoon by pretty much kicking us out. The calzone was OK but it was not worth the wait, price or mistreatment. We will never go back. read more
