We love this place! The pizza never fails to be exactly as expected, flavorful, hot and thin crust for me, thick crust for my husband. We learned our lesson from our last visit when we came 30 minutes before closing, come earlier for full selection! Completely understandable since they sell the pizza by the slice. My husband loves the Utica (thick crust pepperoni & cheese with a pesto drizzle) and go for either the Mr. White (cheese with chicken, no red sauce) or the Funghi (white with all veggies) and of course, the garlic knots!

Pizza craving!! Decided to Yelp it and stumbled upon this pizza joint. Called and ordered a Deep Dish Utica. Now for the flavor, it was light, sweet, and savory. I enjoyed the focaccia bread and the tomato sauce; however, I had envisioned a deep dish loaded with cheese. This pizza was solid in taste and texture.

We ordered four large pizza pies for our kids soccer party and there was no pizza left, everything was devoured by kids and parents alike. The pizza was hot, delicious and ready on time. The online ordering process was super easy.

When I'm in the mood for some pizza and I don't want a whole pizza I love to stop by here just for one slice. They have some quality New York style pizza with good tasting ingredients. There are so many pizza joints around this neighborhood but they all keep a constant flow of customers at all of them.

Whole pies available.

Recently a friend brought a pizza from Tomato Pie to my Super Bowl party. I didn't take a photo because I thought I already reviewed this place. Turns out I haven't. What??? I've purchased slices in the past, and since I haven't written a review I stopped in with my nephew after he passed his driving test. Inside reminded me of a New York style pizzeria. Whole pies are available (NY Style & Sicilian) in addition to a variety of slices, including Gluten free & Vegan. Pasta, salads, wings, subs, calzones, desserts are also available and they even have beer and wine. Quinn took our order and was so nice. Not only was he attentive to us but also the patrons in the dining area. My nephew ordered a slice of the Hawaiian, and I got a Sicilian cheese. Quinn heated our slices for us. The Sicilian was as good as I remembered. The crust was soft & chewy with a slightly crisp bottom. The sauce had a good flavor, and the herbs sprinkled on the cheese enhanced the flavor. My nephew loved his NY style slice. Our bellies were happy & satisfied.

We stopped in after the 4th of July parade. Pie Life has a great vibe and solid service, but the pizza itself didn't quite hit the mark for us. The ambiance is definitely a standout, casual, fun, and welcoming, which made for a nice experience overall. That said, the cheese blend tasted a bit dated, it reminded us of the kind you'd find on a Costco pizza, which was a bit of a letdown and same with the quality of the toppings with nothing memorable. With so many standout pizza spots nearby like Prince Street and Triple Beam, the competition is tough, and this one just didn't leave a lasting impression for us. It's a solid 4-star experience for atmosphere and effort, but probably not one we'll rush back to.

Top tier pizza that easily ranks among the best three spots on my list. The tomato pie slice is my favorite of all time. It has an incredibly soft bite with an amazing crunch on the undercarriage. I honestly do not know how they do it, but the sauce is like butter and melts in your mouth, followed by a perfect crunch at the end of each bite. The undercarriage on all the other pizzas has a great crunch and char as well. We tried every slice except the Miss Green because I am not putting artichoke on pizza lol. The sauce is so good, and their in house ranch is the cherry on top.

Tomato Pie is solid pizza joint worth a visit. They have three locations; this review is for their South Pasadena location. We ordered for take-out a Sicilian deep dish, with half as the classic "Tomato Pie" ($25) consisting of Marinara, Romano, and Olive Oil, and half "Utica", a spicy Pepperoni, Mozzerella, with hot honey and pesto cream drizzle ($36). Each of these came atop a crispy sicilian bread that was perhaps slightly thick for my taste, but rich nonetheless. The Utica was delicious, crisp, surprisingly spicy, and succulent. The simpler Tomato Pie was also excellent, emphasizing an excellent homemade tomato sauce. Both were filling and delicious. The service was friendly and helpful. I ordered takeout over the phone and they were quick to take my order, make recommendations, and give me a realistic waiting time which I could plan around. As we did take-out, I will not comment on the ambiance, but the inside was clean and presented a nice retro vibe. The value is excellent. Our large pizza, including tax, came to around $30. Two hefty Sicilian slices are enough to satisfy most people. At 8 slices, this comes to about $7.50/person, or $3.75 a slice, a great price. Individual slices are for sale as well. Tomato Pie Pizza Joint, while not a game-changer, provides a good pie, great sauce, and an exceptional price. If you're in the South Pas area, give the Tomato a visit! Food: 4/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 5/5

Let's be real - you can't find a real NYC style pizza in Los Angeles - but Tomato Pie Pizza Joint comes as close as we can get on the west coast. The service is great, the establishment gives off cool retro vibes, and the pizza is delicious. The pizza sauce is delicious, the crust is crispy, and you can order by the slice. Also, if you order two slices you get a free drink! This is my favorite pizza joint in L.A.

The service was friendly, the ambiance was lovely, and everything is farm-to-table, so you can really taste the freshness in every dish. I'm a huge fan of foie gras, and I absolutely loved it here. You might call me crazy, but we tried three dishes with foie gras. We started with the foie gras appetizer, it's unlike ordinary liver pâté, it was soft, buttery, and melt-in-your-mouth. A good foie gras is like caviar or Japanese A5 wagyu, yes it's pure indulgence. We also tried foie gras in pasta and burgers, and both were flavorful. In my opinion, the best way to enjoy it is grilled. Oh so heavenly! We'll definitely be back to try more!

By then our son had already finished eating and was ready to go home. This was for an early dinner on a weekday. It looked like a mistake had happened because numerous tables had been seated after we had ordered but received their food much earlier. Our server was apologetic when our food finally arrived and was well aware that the food was very late but the overall vibe felt like they didn't care all that much.

Then saw a unique appetizer salad item on menu "Involtini" $16. It was a great appetizer consisting of arugula, and goat cheese wrapped in prosciutto, with an impressive large thin sliced piece of Parmesan on top drizzled with a balsamic reduction. Very unique and good, I look forward to replicating at home with a little more balsamic. I ordered the Settebello $21 pizza as a main entree of which I thought was advertised with pancetta, mushrooms and Italian sausage. Pizza came out hot and fresh, but with prosciutto instead of the perceived menu listed pancetta. Pizza sauce was good, the sausage and mushrooms were great. Crust was a little doughy, not crispy but charcoal charred in places. Not phenomenal but not bad, middle of the road overall. Service started off great but fell flat to the floor. Drinks and food came out on time indicating bar staff and kitchen staff were on point. Waiting staff could up their game. No check up or check in. No offers for drink refills or another round. I had to ask for refills on water. Final bill $56.35 for one drink, appetizer and pizza for a solo dinner. Three (3) stars at best! Room for improvements.
