I was craving some Pizza so I stopped by. Great pizza and service! Will come back whenever I'm in the area.

ALWAYS FRESH!!!!! ALWAYS TASTY!!!!! I love their Capacola sandwich, the crisp antipasto salad, and if I can't get away fast enough w my order I HAVE to get a pizza! I've never been a dominos/pizza hut customer. As a matter of fact- I've never really been a pizza person- but Pietros has changed me! This pizza is made when you order w fresh ingredients and oooodles of toppings! My favourite is the Pietro's Special Combo (pepperoni, sausage, olives, fresh mushrooms) and then I add basil, artichoke hearts and Romano cheese. This is grease free food. Cooked just right w care and personal touch. It only gets 4 stars from me because 1. I am not a fan of their eat in location. Plastic chairs. TV. Very basic set up- so I always order out. 2. Sometimes they are off on their time estimates for your order to be completed. So I may drive over to snag it up and it's still not entirely ready and you have to wait. Very friendly! Very delicious! My family used to buy sandwiches and pizzas from here all the time. After moving from Pasadena I forgot about this place. Recently, I've started buying my lunches from here again, not only is the food delicious, but quick. Their ingredients are fresh, which makes me a happy eater. The pizza and pastas are wonderful, and their sandwiches? Oh man! The Pastrami alla Pietro's is my favorite, but all the options are great. A large sandwich by itself is enough to feed 2. Nice selection of beers and other drinks to go with your food. Vegetarian friendly options on the menu too. so why not 5 stars? Now that the food is out of the way, there is one thing Pietro's needs to work on, and that's customer service. Friendly faces are a must, and these guys are not the best when it comes to giving you a smile, or even a "hello" when you walk in. As a returning customer, it would be nice to get a "good to see you again" or something, but sometimes I can't even get eye contact. Foods great, the people, not so great...such a shame. read more

I have tried their small pizza, sausage calzone, and "meat" sauce spaghetti with meatballs added (which apparently is extra, 2 balls for $2). The pizza visit was for lunch and because Pietro's prices are not competitive, I got one of the cheaper options by picking my own toppings and asked for anchovies on the side. The pizza was good and my friends agreed. But, my anchovies didn't arrive until after I reminded the guy who brought my pizza, then ate 2 slices and got up to get it myself at the counter. THEN the server brought them out. The next visit, my boyfriend went for me during dinner, and I warned him that the customer service wasn't good, but Pietro's is so close and the pizzas weren't bad. This time, I wanted meaty, hearty spaghetti. He asked the guy taking the order if the sauce was meaty - "yeah." I never believe answers like that shit. Especially when you treat your customers so nonchalantly. One word answers are never friendly or welcoming. So, for extra charge, my boyfriend got meatballs for me. Oh my god, those things are flavorless and pasty. And you only receive TWO?! at least make them large! (That's what she said.) Pietro's biggest problem? Customer service. Then food quality. Then prices for the crap in return. 1 star for my pizza, and 1 star for my calzone. read more

I knew the person that originally started this place. They were so busy and grew so fast that expanded into catering for places some very well know places. The business has been sold several times, but the food is the same (at least the salads are). My favorites are the #1 Anti-Pasta salad and next the Pasta salad. They do have a variety of sandwiches and pizzas. The dressing Italian dressing that they use is very tasty. read more

The woman was craving sandwiches and rigorous activity. No, NOT THAT kind of activity you perv! We hopped on our bikes for an ambitious ride around Pasadeña. We made a stop by a Cyclery and then we made off for lunch at Pietros. It's an old school sandwich place to be sure. It has a very nostalgic feel to the place as it's adorned with photos of the owner with various celebrities and portraits of sports teams they've sponsored in the past. I first started going here for the Hoagies....yummmmy. Great price for a big sandwich. Then I moved to the pizzas. The sauce is very flavorful and when I call to order the always recognize me and make my pizza just the way I like it! I love this small place that makes you feel like family. I decided to try them again after a many-year absence after I wasn't impressed on my first sandwich experiment there. This time I went in and asked what their best sandwich was. The server behind the counter was really helpful and said that their best seller and what I should order was the house Hoagie, a cold sandwich that he thought was far better served hot. So I gave the nod and he prepared it for me. You know, it was pretty good, and I'll definitely put them on my Try Again list because there's a large menu with a lot of other interesting items. My co-worker has raved about Pietro's sandwiches for years. I finally accompanied him to see for myself. I opted for the small prosciutto sandwich combo. I never thought I could have too much proscuitto, but this sandwich was loaded. Basic sub -- no complaints, but not "rave" worthy either. I have yet to try anything else, but I just love the sammies. I noticed that it's super busy on a Friday so be prepared to wait for your order. Good hand made pizza. I gave it 4 stars for the price. 1 large 2 topping pizza with 2 cokes was $20. The restaurant also serves sandwiches (subs) that looked and smell amazing! I'll definitely be back to order more pizza and a sandwich. I'm in! read more

That is nothing special pizza pie! Prices seem a bit off and there is some problem calculating the cost of different toppings on separate halves. I thought the sandwiches were better than the pizza, but that's mainly because they provide for a giant meal--again, nothing special. Then again, odds are I'll be back for more. I think I'm being generous and I'll explain why service really makes a difference. Reason I'm never going back is at the end. I, like many others before me, fully intended to try the sammiches at Roma Market next door. We walked in and saw a super market, and went to Pietro's thinking that's what people were all talking about. Now, I used to frequent the Pietro's in Burbank. And by "frequent", I mean that I became the Duke of that joint in only two visits. That place closed months ago after poor sales and I can't help but wonder if that's what would happen to this location if Roma wasn't there to confuse everyone. The guy running Pietro's could not be less happy to be there. Actually, if this was New York, he might be a pretty talkative guy. But dude, you're in Southern California and in a local joint. Would it kill you to entertain your prospective loyal customers? My friend asked him what his most popular sandwich was. The guy's response? "Meh, people order a bunch of things." (say it in that accent... yeah now you know what I'm talking about right?) He just didn't care. Okay, whatever. A large sandwich with chips and drink was $9.50, a fair price. The soda fountain was of the Coca-Cola variety with an unsweetened Lipton ice tea thing next to it. The soda was pretty close to flat. But I didn't complain... I just... you could just tell with these people that they didn't care. The large Pastrami (& cheese) sandwich I was obscene. And I mean... it looked like a lady organ suffering from white melted cheese disease. The sandwich was large and the ingredients seemed fresh enough... but my problem is with how it was constructed. The mustard was placed in the back of the roll, not spread around. That's where all the pickles were too. The meat was placed on top of that and the cheese on the very top. It looks great when the sandwich roll is on the back, but when you pick it up to eat it like a sandwich, everything is out of whack. Cheese on your right hand, mustard on your left. Flavors aren't blended together. In addition to the odd aspect of the sandwich, the bread was similar to a dried cracker. It just wasn't very satisfying. Okay, so here's the part that really makes me hate this place. Some guy comes in with his wife and they both buy drinks. They sit down and begin to eat their sandwiches (from Roma). The guy who runs the joint kicks them out! He points to a sign that says "No outside food or drink". Pietro's was EMPTY. There was nobody clamoring for those seats. They sold beverages so what's the problem? The couple left easily enough but they did say that was really rude. AND IT WAS! That was a dick move, Pietro's and I'm not going to support a business that conducts itself in that way. My food was only so-so anyhow so no big loss for me. Very rude. They all seemed very annoyed to have us there. We asked for a side of the sauce they make their hot wings with for the chicken strips (that tasted like cardboard) & the clerk just rudely pointed to a bottle of Tapatio sitting on the other counter. We got there at 8:05 pm. We were all in a good mood, quite, polite & stayed to ourselves in an empty restaurant, in the corner, out of sight. Our food came out a little after 8:30. While finishing or meal, 5 minutes after 9:00 (they close at 9:00) they came & locked the door we were sitting next to and told us "we are closed" then turned off some of the lights. When we went to go wash our hands after pretty much being told to stop eating, we go to a blocked off bathroom with a "bathroom closed" sign. We got several eye rolls at us though out the visit like when we asked for the Diet Coke we ordered 15 minutes before, when we told the server that he gave the wrong person the wrong thing, then when asking for boxes for our stuff we didn't get to finish after they kicked us out. About 5 minutes after they kicked us out, while we were finishing our conversation with the friends went to dinner with (since we had to cut it short in the restaurant) we saw one of the rude employees talking to someone very causal, both leaning on a truck parked across the front of the restaurant, about 5 yards away from us, the entire time we had & finished our conversation. Some food we had tonight was pretty good & some was the worst I've ever had. If you want to take your chances ONLY DO TO GO, if that. The prices ARE dine in so I highly DO NOT recommend going or getting food there. read more

The pizza and the food in general is sub par as you can tell by all the other reviews. What makes this establishment a place to avoid is that they're thieves. My first experience was when I closed a a bill with a $100 bill and the jerk owner attempted to short change me by $33.00. The menu prices and what he typed up on the receipt didn't match. Pietro the owner said he typed it up wrong and said I could get my change after I was done eating. I demanded my change which he gave back reluctantly without even a apology. I understand a few bucks but $33 I mean come on. My coworkers went their for lunch the following day and payed with credit cards and left the tip in cash. Both of them had their cards charged a tip which they never left via credit. Luckily they saved their receipts and Pietro's reimbursed them. This establishment is a disgrace! get robbed at your own risk if you dine here! read more

If you want a salami sub, I'm telling you.. get it here. I made the biggest mistake of getting an Italian sub from Lovebirds and it made me gag. Italian dressing on a sandwich does not an Italian sandwich make. Or whatever. Pietro's served me about 1/2" of salami slices with shredded lettuce (minimal), pickled banana peppers, mayo, tomato and provolone on a fantastic roll and I was in heaven. The chew of the bread.. the fresh meat.. the peppers. I had redeemed myself. The man who takes orders doesn't look the friendliest but he never gives me loose change. He always rounds up and gives me bills. He smiles at me now too. :) The only thing is sometimes there aren't the most friendly patrons dining in. Otherwise, I like enjoying my sandwich in their little shop. read more

Just happened to stumble upon this place not sure what to expect. I ordered a turkey sandwich. Granted, that is hard to mess up, but Pietro's sub was waaay better than I thought it would be. The sesame seed roll really made it - it was very tasty and light. Most subs are on hard, heavy bland rolls. Not Pietro's. It wasn't overloaded but had just enough of everything to leave me satisfied. Plus the service was friendly and fast. And it wasn't expensive. Pietro's is right round the corner from me. I've tried their Linguine in Clam Sauce three times and the pasta has gotten worst since the first! The first time it was absolutely devine. The pasta was al dente and they didn't go skimpy on the clams. The second and third time, the pasta was soggy and I could eat it with a spoon. I think I'll try the pizza instead from now on! Pietro's has the best pizza I've eaten in a long time. The crust is light and thin, the toppings are fresh, and sauce tastes great (not too sweet, not too acidic). Their cheesecake is okay, but the cannoli was a delicious treat! Several weird things: They do NOT deliver after 4pm. When I visited, it was 91 degrees and they did not have air conditioning in the eat-in area. I had to wait about 10 min. longer than they'd stated. Pizza and Antipasto Salad here RULE. The delivery service hours are kind of funky. The Antipasto Salad is a staple food at our team meetings, and is usually the first thing gone. I just don't understand the delivery system and hours here. But, I would make my first delivery call to Pietro's in a heartbeat. read more

Ordered take out. A large salami cold sub and a Pietro special pizza. Pizza was good and thin and crispy because we ordered it was done. Sandwich lacked meat and was really all bread (THREE layers of bread), but we didn't know there would be two slices of salami, two slices of mortadella and three slices of thick soft white bread. Tried Pietro's for the first time today. I thought it was Roma's, but it's okay. I love cold cut subs and love to find new places that have authentic ones. My sandwich was pretty good. Not a 5 star, but a 3.5. Too much bread. The meats were fresh. The only other comment is that NOBODY smiles or greets you when you walk in. They just grunt and don't look up from their work to take care of you. I'm assuming the owner finally came to the register and just stared at me until I blurted out my order, rang it up, I gave him my money, he gave me change and not a word was spoken besides my ordering. read more

Was craving Italian food for lunch so told the office gang I was making a run to Pietros...We ordered Chicken Parmesan, Turkey and Ham Sandwiches. Wow when you order a large sandwich it is BIG. Tasty Bread and just the right amount of cheese and meat and dressings. The bread holds up great which is something I really like in a sandwich. My daughter runs a pizza place and I'm surprised by their low prices. I know that cheese costs have gone through the roof this last year. I will try the pizza this weekend! If the eggplant parmesan sandwich is the reason to go to Pietro's, then the spinach lasagna is the reason to stay away. The marinara sauce was sickly sweet - I tasted sugar before I tasted tomato. The spinach was either frozen, or had been boiled within a millimeter of its life, or had been sitting around all day -- possibly all three. The noodles were OK, but all in all it was gross on a school cafeteria level. The roll was bland, crusty, and a little burnt. Where, oh where was the garlic? My bf got meat lasagna and pronounced it "OK" and "edible", which is more than I can say for my meal. I left half of it on the plate. We also ordered two beers, which were skunky and old-tasting. This is definitely a call-in, take-out joint. Otherwise, it takes way too long to get your food, and the seating/lighting is uncomfortable to the point of being inhospitable. I might give the place a second chance, maybe order some pizza or something, but I think I'll try a few other places first. read more

The food here is probably a 4 but when you take into account the great friendly service they deserve a 5 star. I usually phone in my order before lunch it's always perfect. I've had the pizza with mushrooms and olives and its delicious. I've also had the mortadella sandwich a handful of times. The sandwhich is good but the pizza is where it's at. Had the Pietro's hoagie. It was fine. Too much bread for my liking so I pulled the middle slice out. The meat was fine, no premium meats used but not bad. They dress the lettuce with a vinaigrette but it was really mild so I added some mustard to add a little flavor as well. Overall, good sandwich if you're in the mood for a hoagie and you get a nice size portion for the price. read more

2nd time here and it's confirmed; the 1st time wasn't a fluke. This is indeed the best pizza I've ever had (had to make sure to tell the guys behind the counter that before I left). Ordered a large (huge and great price) pepperoni and sausage and an order of wings for the family. Picked a table, didn't wait long at all, and started chowing down.
