We came to Piedra for brunch to celebrate my mother's 68th birthday, hoping for a memorable experience. The space itself is beautiful -- the ambiance and design are genuinely appealing -- but that's where the positives mostly end. The music was turned up to an absurd level for a Saturday brunch. It felt more like a nightclub than a restaurant. We could barely hear each other across the table, and even trying to communicate with the staff was difficult because of the volume. Unfortunately, the service was equally disappointing. The staff seemed completely overwhelmed and confused by very basic requests. Dishes sat on the table long after we finished them, cutlery wasn't refreshed between courses, and simple service steps just didn't happen. It felt disorganized from start to finish. The bigger issue, though, was the food. My eggs were prepared incorrectly twice. When I spoke with the manager and chef about it, instead of offering a solution, I was told, "maybe we are too Mexican for you." That comment was honestly shocking and insulting. Asking for scrambled eggs instead of fried has nothing to do with culture. If a modification can't be accommodated, just say so -- but don't shift the blame onto the customer after multiple failed attempts to get a simple dish right. In the end, this was a $200+ brunch that felt wildly overpriced for both the quality of the food and the level of service. Piedra may look great in influencer reels, but the actual dining experience did not match the hype. I wouldn't return, and I wouldn't recommend it. read more

We decided to try Piedra for our anniversary date and what a wonderful experience it was! The vibe is AMAZING! Everything in the restaurant is absolutely beautiful! We were greeted and seated right away (we did have a reservation). The booth was comfortable and spacious. Our waitress came right over offered us drinks and explained some of the menu. Throughout the meal she checked back regularly, kept our drinks filled, and empty plates cleared. They offer crispy tortillas with salsa and beans to start your meal. We also had guacamole and Piedrafella (their play on oysters Rockerfeller) both were a 10/10! Entrees were lamb chops which were well flavored and tender and the New York Filet, I order steak all done and not everyone does this well, but they did, it was cooked all the way through and still juicy however it had very little seasoning. We'll be back to try more!!! read more

The service has been great. Bar is open seating but I recommend reservations. It was beyond busy Saturday night, got lucky and had 2 seats at the bar. The DJ is a nice touch! Very cool spot! We went on a Sunday afternoon. Not extremely busy but they had a nice crowd. The food is flavorful and truly authentic Mexican food. I hope my review helps! Salud! read more

Very lively, extremely loud, full of "beautiful people, mostly younger. Food is good but very expensive!

The chips and salsa were good. The steak is overpriced. The Tomahawk is $175. We saw it come out at another table and weren't impressed-- it definitely didn't look like 40 ounces of steak either but I didn't have my scale so what do I know? We had a burrito and enchiladas. Both were fine. With 2 drinks, 2 meals, and 2 apps + tip-- we spent about $120, Not bad, but we should've checked the Yelp reviews and pricing first. I wanted steak...it just wasn't worth spending the insane amounts when we've had the same cuts just down the block for less. Our mistake for going on a Saturday night but it was loud and crowded-- loud like a club. The walls were thumping. Drinks came out slow and the one I had with coconut tasted good but the alcohol seemed to have been missing. Service was fine. Overall, it wasn't gross but we can get their menu items for much less anywhere else. The atmosphere was insane for a steakhouse. We won't go back. read more

The food and service was amazing. The guacamole was so good as was the carne asada and tacos. The place is so beautifully decorated. A perfect date night. read more

Hot new spot on Mass Ave, perfect for girls night or an intimate date! Sister restaurant to Verde, the menu might be similar, but the experiences are quite distinct. Walking inside Piedra made me feel like I was not in Indiana. The lights are dim, design is sleek and music is bumping. I was not welcomed in the most warm way, some confusions with the reservation and possibly the large crowd that entered with me caused some chaos. However, once I was seated the service was great! Diana took care of us and recommended the ceviche, which is a tuna lovers dream. Fresh and a large portion. The complimentary chips and bean dip were delicious as well, I wish there were more chips offered to enjoy it! The rest of the meal was amazing as well as we ordered more on the traditional side of the menu getting tacos and a burrito. Lastly, I have no pictures, but the drinks were the star of the night! You could tell the juices were fresh and the liquor was smooth. Can't wait to visit Piedra again :) read more

First time dining here and let me tell you it's an experience that teleports you to Mexico. We went to celebrate a friend's birthday and from start to finish everything and everyone was wonderful. It was a Friday night and the vibes were great, they had music playing but not too loud where you are unable to hear conversations. We started with some appetizers queso, guac and chips which were delicious! You could taste the freshness of the guacamole. For mains we all got different dishes and every single dish was made to perfection. The flavor in each bite was really good and the portion sizes were perfect for 1 person not too much or too little just the right amount!our server was very attentive and super helpful in walking us through the menu and explaining to us the various dishes! She was really great and it was nice that the manager came over and wished my friend a HBD and checked in on us and how we enjoyed our meals which we all really appreciated. I highly recommend this place it was really delicious and fun environment, I will definitely be returning! read more

Our server was excellent, the complementary chips were very good. The wife had the steak chimichanga was very good. I had the heads on shrimp they were excellent, but messy you need to peel them and remove the heads, fortunately the server had anticipated this and had brought a stack of napkins. I thought the rib eye tacos were a little small. My only complaint was the music was too load and difficult to have a normal conversation. read more

We were excited to try this restaurant as it is a sister restaurant to Verde which we love. When you walk in there is a beautiful hallway with flowers which opens up to the bar/dining area. Gives off a very similar vibe to Verde but a little more sophisticated. A lot of the same menu items available at Verde but we opted to try something new. The carne asada was perfectly cooked and came with a stuffed jalapeño wrapped in bacon. Would definitely get this again. The pork shank melted in your mouth and was so flavorful. Service was okay, our waiter disappeared for I don't know how long and then we had to wave him down to refill our water and he filled my husband's glass and walked away and had to wave him back to fill mine. You expect better for this higher end restaurant. We wanted something sweet to finish off the meal so we shared the tres leche, smooth and delicious. There is a DJ which can be a good thing but keep the volume at a comfortable level so you can have a conversation and enjoy the people you are spending time with - if I don't want to talk I'll go to a club. Also, we Sat to the side of the bar in a green velvet booth which I thought was great until the table next to us got up and moved our seat and theirs. The seating doesn't seem to be secured. Overall a good addition to Indy but think we will stick with Verde. Sad to say wasn't that impressed and really thought it should feel different than Verde. read more

Piedra is amazing. The complimentary salsa and beans with the tortilla chips are so good. The drinks were tasty and strong. Our meals were tasty. My husband finished the lamb chops. I ate half my pescado frito and I took the other half home for my children to devour the rest. I definitely recommend this place for an upscale Mexican dining experience. The service was fantastic. Our drinks were forgotten mid meal, but she quickly brought them to us when she realized her mistake. No big deal but if I'm being nit picky then I should subtract at least one star. This is definitely a place we will be trying again. Next time I'm getting the grilled octopus. read more

My lady friends and I chose to go to Piedra after the MJ show at the Murat Theatre. The interior is stunning and provides an upscale ambience. One friend ordered the ceviche as an appetizer to share with the table. She found it too spicy but I thought it was delicious. I ordered Quesabirrias-slow-braised lamb birrria tacos and really enjoyed it. Our Verde Barrel Margaritas were good but not outstanding. (But I'm a professional drinker). Our server was attentive and all in all it was a great experience. Will be returning. read more

On our trip from Cincinnati to Chicago we came across to this amazing place, Piedra is a new high class Mexican Steakhouse that did not disappoint, from the moment you enter the place a nice electro Latino house welcomes you with an incredible vibe, the place is simply beautiful, decoration is top notch. The ambience is nice. Dim lighting, music, nice decor. However, the food wasn't that great. Queso came out cold. The chips were just okay. I ordered a the classic Arroz Con Pollo, and it was just average. Not nasty, but definitely not great. And at the price point, I expected the food to be DELICIOUS. So I was a little disappointed in that aspect. The service was okay at best. There were 6 of us, so I understand how it can be overwhelming, however a couple of our dishes came back incorrect MULTIPLE TIMES. Also, I ordered a coke and never got it. Overall, I wouldn't recommend unless you're just going for the experience. read more

Piedra reminds me of a restaurant you visit while on vacation. DJ spinning good sounds, beautiful decor and delicious food. With the DJ we could still hear our waitress and each other. It was nicely decorated. We both enjoyed our meals. I took the rest of mine home and it was a whole additional meal. Our service was great from our waitress but I'd give them 3.5 stars for the hostess. Our reservation was for 9:00, we literally walked in at 9:14 (they have a 15 min grace period) and two people were in front of us. By the time we got to the hostess (who never left her station) it was like 9:17 and this girl was so cold and flat and said they have a 15 minute grace period and they gave our table away so we have to wait but we can wait at the bar if we'd like. As I pushed back she ignored me and stated again we can wait and it's 9:17. So we concluded they gave our table away before the 15 min was up. We sat at the bar which was kind of tight and the hostess girl looked irritated that she had to come check on us to seat us at our table and even asked if we still want our table since we're at the bar. Girl!! Luckily the rest of the people we encountered were really friendly and helpful. One even walked me to the restroom when they could've just pointed read more

Piedra just opened up last week and it's going to be one of my go to spots. This place is slightly elevated Mexican similar to Verde. The drinks were 10/10 and very strong. Food was delicious. And the vibe/decor was so chic! A lot of picture worthy spots. You won't regret going to this new hotspot. read more

I really wanted to love this place as we frequent Verde, one of their sister restaurants, often. The decor is gorgeous, but everything else detracts and makes this a "one and done" for me. We made a 5:00pm reservation 30 days ago for 6 people on a Thursday night, prior to a show at the Old National Center. The 6 of us were seated at one of the booths near the bar, which is clearly meant for a maximum of 4 people. The seating consisted of a semi circle large sofa with a small circular table, and a single chair that clearly didn't belong there. Upon seating we all commented that we couldn't even imagine having 6 dinner plates at the table, it was that small. We brought our concerns to the attention of waitstaff, who seemed annoyed with us. When she returned a third time we asked specifically for new seating that would accommodate 6 people, as there were multiple larger empty tables in the restaurant, and we were met with resistance. She even commented "I've seen even more people than 6 sitting around this exact table." (I'm honestly not even sure how). She eventually spoke with the manager at our behest. After we had finished appetizers we were reseated nearly an hour later (service to that point had been very slow). However we were informed that we would need to leave by 7:00pm as the table was reserved (mind you, multiple tables remained empty during the time we were there). I don't know that we will return. There are too many other higher end restaurants in downtown Indianapolis that are able to accommodate six adults comfortably and without question. As others have mentioned, the music is entirely too loud. It really is difficult to hear those at your table, even at the tiny table we were seated at. The food was mediocre. If you've been to Verde before you will recognize many of the menu items along with more pricier ones. In all honesty, for the price it really isn't any better than their less expensive sister restaurant, Verde (but equally as yummy). read more

The food and service was great. The vibe was everything. This is a great social spot for a ladies night or a date night.

Ambiance is amazing! Good addition to Mass Ave. Service: It was a bit slow. Went on a Monday and bar was not full. Sat at the bar and it took quite a while before bartender came over to take drink order. Also, glass was empty for a while before asked for another drink. Food is above ok, could be better for the price. Margaritas are ok, which is sad for a Mexican restaurant of this caliber. B grade. read more

Sometimes there's a place that does a great job making a beautiful space. And that's great. However, you have to also bring everything else someone expects from a restaurant and Piedra missed the mark in every element of that. To start, we were seated almost 45 minutes after our reservation. This happens, I get that. It truly happens when a place has great food. However, this was one of the most mid meals I've had in a very long time. Everyone at the table ate less than half of their meal. The drinks were good though. However, it took us almost an hour to get drinks each time we ordered. Mind you, there wasn't a massive crowd. To add insult to injury, the service was nowhere near what you would expect for spending over $200 for a dinner for three. read more

Love this place. 4th time here. But this time at 6pm sitting at the bar, the music was so loud. Asking the bartender if they could turn it down a little twice. She said she would ask manager, but the owner controls it from his phone offsite. Not sure if this is why the place was empty compared to my other visits. Anyway, food and drinks are still great, just hard to have a conversation. read more

We had our first dinner at Piedra. The food was excellent. The service was excellent. The interior was classy (and obviously expensive.) Nevertheless, I will not return--the "music" was loud and pounding --and despite several requests from our table, was never turned down. The people at our table couldn't hear each other, nor could we hear the waitress--who said several other patrons had asked that the music be turned down, and that the management had refused. Too bad. Otherwise, we'd return. read more

Really good service. I took my girls with me and we all enjoyed their brunch menu. Will be back to try the dinner menu

My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary today for dinner. Our reservation was for 9pm. However, we were late trying to find parking (that was our bad). We contacted the restaurant saying we would be late. Their policy is that they will hold the table for 15 minutes after the reservation time. We made it at 9:10 and the host checked us in. In theory, if the table was supposed to be ready at 9pm and they hold it until 9:15, you'd think the table would be available from 9-9:15. We waited an additional 20 minutes for the table. Once we were finally seated, we noticed water from the ceiling dripping on us. We did not say anything to our server at first and just shuffled around the table to avoid the water. However, when we did bring it to her attention she kind of brushed it off and didn't offer an alternative. It was a busy night so it's possible no alternative was available but it was kind of just brushed off and basically felt like "deal with it" which didn't sit right with us. read more
