We really, really wanted to experience this place! We had our hostess take our picture upon walking in and we got seated outside. IMMEDIATELY were brought over the table chips and salsa. We waited for 13 minutes and we got up and left. NO ONE came to wait on us. There was a server that knew we were there along with the couple that was sat right before us as that server was closing out her table at the other end of the patio. It was our anniversary. June 25th. We left cash on the table as my husband did eat the chips and salsa but we left, very disappointed. Restaurant decor is gorgeous. Outside seating was extremely nice. Service...not at all.
A cute place for a cocktail or elevated Mexican food. I wouldn't recommend for a large group as it was really hard to hold a conversation over the loud music. I do wish the menu was clearer on which items are Gluten Free and think that the staff didn't seem too knowledgeable on what could be available. I ended up getting the Enchiladas Doña Carmen which came with one of each of these fillings: barbacoa, ground beef, chicken, and cheese. The flavor was excellent! I would definitely order again.
This a pretty positive experience for the most part. My only complaint was that the service was a bit slow and they weren't very busy. I would see the waitress constantly at the bar chopping it up with the bartender more than tend to our table. Now that is out the way, the place has a great ambience. Very aesthetically pleasing!! We were able to park right across the street on the back side of tje restaurant. I like the chips and salsa that come out. It's actually con tortillas that are super crispy (I lived these) and a refried bean dip and salsa. We both had a margarita that wasn't very strong but good. We had the steak meal and the fried red snapper. The steak was well seasoned and tasted very good!! The red snapper was fried to perfection but needed some salt. I didn't taste any favor. Overall it was a positive experience. I would come back.
Beautiful, stunning restaurant. Doesn't feel like you're in Indiana. Came to check out happy hour. They also have a brunch/lunch menu. We got drinks and apps from the happy hour menu. My espresso martini was great! The margarita was huge and on the happy hour menu. Not too much to choose from for food, so keep that in mind if you're planning on sticking to that. Our server was phenomenal. She checked on us periodically and brought chips and dips as needed. We never felt rushed to leave.
I love the vibes in this restaurant! Beautiful decor and ambiance that they've created here. I arrived a little late to a birthday dinner for my cousin, so I didn't catch the name of our server, but she was amazing. She took care of our party of 10 calmly, effortlessly, and gracefully. I mentioned to her that it was my cousin's birthday and she said "say less"! I loved her energy. I enjoyed the unique offering of the complimentary salsa, tortillas, and bean dip. I ordered a Paloma because that's what the birthday girl was drinking. I'm not sure how they're made it or what the ingredients are, but it read like a margarita. A less flavorful margarita. I wasn't really a fan. When it came to the entrees, I went with the Baja Fish Tacos. Two out of ten of us did. I didn't really enjoy mine. The fish wasn't crispy enough. The rice and beans were good. My daughter said hers were crispy and she loved them. My uncle ordered enchiladas, but didn't really like them. The general consensus of the table seemed to be that "the meats" were top-tier. The guests that ordered steaks or the lamb chops enjoyed their dishes the most. I tasted my cousin's steak and it was very tender and flavorful on its own. No sauce or anything. Just meat. If I were to return, I'd go that route. My husband bodied his lamb chops and they looked really good. I broke my own rule. If you go to a steakhouse, Mexican or otherwise, order a steak!
First. This place is SO cute in a modern but whimsy way. The inside was like a party with the music going but you could still have a conversation. The bathrooms were cute and smelled great. Note: there are two stalls and one sink. We sat on the outside patio in front to enjoy the beautiful day! It was a bit warm...ya girl was THIRSTY, the water cups are on the smaller side... so our server Sage gave us a full pitcher they were so amazing the entire time. They give you chips and salsa automatically that salsa was divine. Wish they sold it in a bottle. We had the roasted cauliflower which was DELICIOUS and very sure to grab the sauce in the side of the dish and thank me later. We also had ceviche for an appetizer and there were nice sized chunks of Ahi tuna along with shrimp avocado and pico. Y'all both appetizers just disappeared! So delightful. We had sangria and was lovely, skinny margarita was fire and I had the Mezcal old fashioned.. and I had two. That was one of the top ever!! This place was so wonderful we're already planning to go back next time I return to Indy. We're hoping Sage is there because the level of service was top tier and they were so cool to talk to. Just go. You'll be utterly satisfied
I love love loved my food, the ambiance, the service, the decor, literally everything minus downtown parking .... Luckily since it was snowing I was able to park in front but some of my family had to drive around to find spots. This isn't on the restaurant, this is a common thread for mass Ave locations. One thing I want to make mention of, I covet the stoneware that was used to serve everything down to sauces. We ate in the private dining area that I seats 10 on the main floor. My stepmom felt like a queen for her bday & rightfully so. So super cute that for birthdays they offer a cupcake OR a shot. My stepmom chose the shot and it was served in a champ glass with a lime and on a small wooden board with a salt heart that they lit on fire for us to sing happy bday! I ordered the quesobirria tacos, the oysters Rockefeller & ceviche... I was wow'd. Lamb was cooked perfectly in the tacos! The ceviche had the freshest ingredients and I'm typically not a fan of tuna but mmm mm ... THIS was fire! When I return, I'll be ordering two orders of the oysters & plan on eating both
The vibe is pretty upbeat and elevated. I really enjoyed the overall setup. What we ordered was pretty good, not mind blowing Ceviche is a bit too lemony; portion and presentation is nice 7.5/10 I like my drink mango mezcal cocktail (mango was light but is fresh mango tasting and not syrupy) not spicy, even though server gave a warning 8/10 Wagyu tomahawk steak 8.5/10 cooked a little more than medium rare, veggies were still crisp and good
Seafood galore!!! Started with crispy calamari and ceviche. Thr former's batter is well flavored, didn't need sauce to enjoy it. And the latter, is how ceviche should be. Lots of fish chunks and is very well marinated. Main courses were Preida lobster mac: Flavor was good but the lobsters size was small relative to price. The Grilled Octopus was rrally well and evenly cooked. Texture was soft throughout, even on the thicker part of the meat This was a good one. And lastly, the Pescado frito. Man, the whole fish was huge. The sauce that was recommended was Salsa ala diabla was really great. It's spicy but not hot spicy, mildly opens up yoir nostril but then it doesn't anymore so it's not overwhelming the more you dip in. Ended the night with chocoflan. It's good, not strong in sweet so it made it enjoyable. Service waa great and not intrusive at the bar area, which was well lit. Place was packed on a Tue night. They have papertowels in the restroom. No outdoor seating. Will gladly return to this place.
So beautiful!!! Like vibe is 100% vibbing! Came here for a birthday party that had about 25 women. I wish they had a community table they could pull out for larger parties. They do have a round table that fits about 15. Food... the red snapper is superb like amazing and huge. I had the steak fajitas...it was ok. The meat was ok ..I would go back but try something new.
Authentic Latin vibes in the bottle works district! Beautiful interior, amazing food, and top notch service. Gets very busy on a Saturday night but worth the wait (make a reservation) Pro Tip: DJ spinning great music on the weekend elevates the experience!
Piedra is a beautiful Mexican Steakhouse located right on Mass Ave. The parking is very limited, so be sure to leave out early or you may be late for your reservations. They offer $20 valet parking as well. Upon walking in, I was greeted by about 4 other groups that were waiting to be seated. Our reservations were at 8:15 pm and we were seated until close to 9 pm. When we were seated, we were placed by a window, and every time someone opened the door, we felt a huge draft. We asked if there was anything available to warm the area and was told no. They told us we could move, but since there weren't any tables available, we'd have to wait for another table to get up to leave. Being that we had already wat almost 45 mins to be seated and another 10+ mins to get water, we decided to weather the storm. Our waitress was truly nice and bubbly, and she was attentive. I chose to participate in the devour menu and get the oysters rockefella, ribeye and tres leches for dessert. The oysters were cleaned very well, but even wth the addition of cheese toppings, still lacked flavor. The steak was delicious and had flavor. The potatoes served with it lacked salt, but were good. I didn't really care for the cake. The leches didn't have an additional flavor to it, s it was semi bland. I was offered to change t but fr something different, but I chose my to. I tried a expresso martini as well, and it was very delicious. I'd definitely come back for that alone! Piedra had a DJ that night and it was giving Chicago rooftop vibes...IYKYK. We were given a dessert coupon for our wait. Overall, the ambience is amazing. The food is decent, but the wait time to be seated needs to be improved. This restaurant s still somewhat new, so hopefully they will make the tweaks to make that better.
Ouch. It hurts to give three stars. First off, it is absolutely stunning inside this place. From the moment you walk in! Kudos to them for that. There were two of us, and we were seated on the back half of one of the columns at a two top table. They have cute purse and coat stands to hang your things (specifically for your table) next to your table. + Every table gets salsa, as well as a bean dip with fried tortillas instead of chips. Unfortunately, our tortillas were stale with a burnt taste to them. Our server actually tried a piece at our table - we were shocked to see her do this haha. + We ordered queso with chips, and sadly the chips were overly fried, and were drenched in grease. + The arroz con pollo was different. The chicken was good, but the rice seemed over cooked, and had an interesting taste to it. I can't really put my finger on it but it seemed very different than the flavors of the classic dish. 6.5 /10 + We also tried to Wagyu burger. The burger + fries were good, however the burger came on a burn that appears burnt, but were told is something called a charcoal bun. Visually not the most appealing, but the burger itself was pretty good. 7/10 I'll likely give it another try around spring/summer! Great spot for drinks.
Reviews are largely positive. People highlight the beautiful ambiance, attentive service, and flavorful food. Many also enjoy the creative cocktails.

We held a birthday dinner there for a party of 10. The vibes were amazing the servers were very pleasant. I ordered the ribeye tacos that came with bone marrow, rice, beans and a jalapeño margarita. The margarita was perfectly made. The tacos were delicious but I would say the rice was under cooked. I had to ask the server for a new plate of rice. The second batch was hard as well. But overall it was a beautiful atmosphere and the service was great. I would return !!! read more
I'd love to give it a 4.5 but Yelp doesn't have 1/2 points. I liked Piedra. I really did. I had read reviews and thus was prepared for the loud music (which, I agree, they really do need to turn it down) and the higher price tag. What I was determined to get, though, was their pork belly tacos (which I had gotten via takeout once prior). SO GOOD. And very filling. Not sure if I'll be able to venture away from ordering this in the future. I thought the tortilla + salsa was a unique take. Certainly made me mindful of how many I ate! The salsas were both mild but tasty! I got the Ambar cocktail which was quite good-- would recommend! Service was quick but then again I went at ~2 pm on a Saturday so it wasn't exactly prime time. Overall, the vibe that everyone's been talking about was certainly there & I think this is a great addition to Bottleworks. Would definitely go with a friend next time (and get another round of pork belly tacos!). read more
After reading several reviews that mentioned the ambience I expected to enjoy the vibe of Piedra, but I have to say it wowed me even more than expected. The moody lighting, live DJ playing music, and gorgeous interior together made it feel like we were on vacation away from Indianapolis. I had great service with good food recommendations - our server described the dishes and drink options, and she made it a point to bring us extra chips with the beans/salsa and tostada chips included for free. I enjoyed my enchiladas with four different meats/fillings and they were well flavored. I was worried it wouldn't feel "special" but it was very well executed and hit the spot. The real star of the meal was the pork shank though- the mole was truly amazing and it will be the favorite dish we come back to order again and again. read more
Oh my gosh! We had the best time at Piedra last night. The place is stunning and the vibe is upbeat, playful, and elegant. The service was top notch. The food and drinks were fantastic! It's pricey so it's a treat but one I'd like to have regularly. read more
Great addition to downtown! Easy parking in the garage and inside is gorgeous! The service has been quick. Lunch is a great option here and dinner time there's a vast cocktail/ mocktail menu with excellent tequila options. Food is delicious and I can't wait to return. read more
Remember the area on college and mass ave /!bottleworks that was under construction for a long long time? Well well well one of the new spots is Piedra. Public parking is super convenient and you only need to walk 10 steps outside in extreme winter to get to the restaurant. Upon entering, I was greeted by a hostess and I saw many folks waiting for their table, and they all had reservations. We were seated within 10 minutes, and overall our service was not bad at all as I originally expected seeing the crowd at the front. As soon as we sat down (it was a tiny table for two), the server brought us hard tortilla with salsa and bean dip. It was alright. Next we ordered calamari appetizer which came fairly quickly. It was fresh from the fryer. Soon after we placed our drinks order and dinner order since the kitchen was getting busy. Funny enough our drinks and dinner came together so we didn't get much time to enjoy our drinks and appetizer, and it was difficult to fit everything on our tiny table. For dessert, we got the chocolate flan which was good too. I really liked the salmon entree and the sides it came with. The food was flavorful and I liked the speed of service but this wouldn't be the place to enjoy the ambience as it was loud and we felt a bit rushed. Overall a nice place for celebrating milestones. read more
I dined here with some friends for devour and it was an amazing experience! I can't wait to go back to try the regular menu and also go for brunch. The ambiance inside made me feel like I was somewhere like Vegas, amazing decor and a great live DJ. The cocktails are also top tier and the staff was extremes tentative and nice. Highly recommend for a date night or dinner with friends, great addition to Mass Ave. read more

I had the pleasure of celebrating my birthday here. I unfortunately did not take any pictures of the good. However this still warrants the review I am about to give. Let's start with the obvious this restaurant is gorgeous. I mean gorgeous you want somewhere stunning to eat you have to come here. The art the decor the attention to detail. Service is unmatched we were well attended to the entire evening. Our server recommended cocktails margaritas were delicious. The fajitas were so good. I got them three way and that include chicken, shrimp and steak. Steak was so juicy and tender. My mouth is watering thinking about it. Since I was celebrating my birthday I decided to try the fried ice cream. It was good. I can't wait to go back. read more

The ambiance was amazing! I felt like I was in Miami or something. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. 10/10 recommend for date night, girls night, or whatever the vibe you're looking for. I can't wait to go back. Only draw backs were the music being loud and the restroom was small. Only 2 stalls for such a large restaurant. read more

The decor and vibes are 100/10! This is one of the nicest new restaurants in Indy, perfect for special occasions. Upscale dining with delicious Mexican food. I came for my birthday and they gave an option for a free cake or shot, and the cake was rainbow colors that looked and tasted amazing! So moist, it felt like a gourmet bakery cake. And the drinks were very tasty and come in the most aesthetic glasses. I ordered the strip steak and it was so good, so much flavor and came with traditions Mexican sides like rice and beans, and of course the presentation was perfect. Everything here was amazing, highly recommend! read more

The ambiance is amazing! The customer service was good the server was knowledgeable and made good recommendations. The food was hit and miss, I ordered the calamari, it was a hard pass for me, too much breading and they were chewy. I also had the bone marrow and ribeye tacos they were delicious! The bone didn't have much marrow in it at all which was kind of a bummer. The margaritas were good as well. Overall I would definitely try them again. read more

If I'd done a review after brunch during the snowstorm, it would have been 5 stars. Our waiter Hugo was outstanding. They need a bunch more like him! Unfortunately, he wasn't there for the dinner experience I just had, which was memorably horrible! For starters, the level of the music is too loud. It's apparently a strategy that gets people to drink more and eat faster- all about quick profit over the comfort of patrons. As my companions noted, this is a pricier restaurant so the people with the most money to spend are least likely to want to come here due to the sound. I've been at dance clubs at the same volume. And when you're there to connect with friends over food, but are seated right under an obnoxiously loud speaker, the experience created is negative. And it was a Sunday evening just after 6- not Saturday at midnight. Nothing like spending $70 on dinner and barely hearing a word said at your table. My ears were still ringing when I left. Our request to lower the volume was denied. Insert middle finger here. The food: Fideos soup was fine- nothing super special, but edible. Tonight, I ordered the shrimp, served whole- not sure who thought this was a good idea, but the amount of exertion it took to deshell it was not worth the payoff. The shrimp were overcooked, and the oversized steak knife provided had a rounded top, which isn't so helpful when trying to peel a shrimp. Unless I was supposed to do that with my hands? But they provide one cheap paper napkin with the meal and despite asking twice for more, never got that. If you have any issues with background noise: avoid at all costs. Highly recommend trying brunch in inclement weather. Way more inviting and accommodating. read more

I tried Piedra with my book club! We had a large group and got a more private dining room of sorts. The ambiance is AMAZING! Love the music choice too! The food is incredible! I got the fajitas three ways and the amount of meat that came with the dish was perfect! They don't skimp out on the meat! I will say the only thing I found lacking were the amount of tortillas that came with the fajitas. They also make an excellent classic marg! Perfectly balanced! Service was swift and great! Our server was amazing! read more

I loved it here! The ambiance was beautiful. This restaurant is near the Bottleworks area and I had no idea it was here. Apparently this is a sister restaurant to Verde(?) so if you've been there, it's the same vibes. Dark, moody, good food at a middle price point. Here to celebrate a birthday, I had a great time. We were seated upstairs at a large table for our group. Staff was attentive and helpful. The place was packed on a Saturday night. Great date night vibes. I had calamari for the appetizer; we also had chips and salsa, ceviche, and several other apps and the presentation was nice. It's more elevated than typical Mexican. I'd try it again, definitely. read more
Honestly loved this place and I'm so excited to go back. We went for drinks and a small meal, my friend is vegetarian and she said it's the best chimichanga she's ever had. They have SO many options for vegetarians! The food was amazing. The drinks were perfect. The chips and salsa were okay, a bit bland but they are complimentary. Service was excellent, ambiance is GORGEOUS. One of the most beautiful restaurants in Indy. Looking forward to next time. Recommend reservations. read more
What an amazing restaurant... Mexican fine dining. Cheap? NO. Worth it? YES! You can tell as soon as you enter this exquisite space. It is simply beautiful. Tasteful decor wherever you look. Most amazingly, they will bring you a purse holder which looks like a bird perch so your purse does not have to sit on the floor... top that. Instead of the traditional salsa and chips, you are greeted with a duo of dips, one seems to be refried beans and the other idk, but it's spicy. It comes along with some crunchy tortillas. Delish. For starters I ordered the frozen strawberry Margarita. It came in a sizeable glass and was so good. It really hit the spot. Highly recommend. I started with the Carpaccio, it is hard to find a good one around Indy, but this one ranks highly. A big plate of paper thin slices of, yes, raw beef filet. topped with capers, drizzle of balsamic and some other dressing. It had a mountain of greens with onions on top nicely dressed with a citrussy dressing. I also tasted the Ceviche and the Guacamole my guests had ordered. Both were beautifully presented. The Ceviche was served in an oblong lava stone dish that weighed a ton. Fresh fish, tomatoes, onions and so on in a citrus marinade. Very nicely done. The guacamole presented on a flat dish, like a mountain range and alongside another mountain of chips. And so smooth and tasty. I had ordered the Chimichanga with chicken, which was nicely presented alongside a dish of queso, refried beans, avocado slices, Pico de Gallo and perfectly seasoned rice. Unfortunately I was already getting full and could only eat half of it. My friends enjoyed the octopus entree and the other had shrimp tacos. The octopus received very high ratings, whereas the tacos only received a 'good' which translates to a little above average, but nothing to write home about. Service was impeccable. For your leftovers they will also bring you a plastic bag and even open it for you. All in all, this place is definitely living up to the hype. Definitely worthy of special occasions or just to spoil yourself. read more
What a fun evening to have dinner with two of my best friends ! We were able to get a reservation at Piedra, but ran kind of late. We did call to let them know, and over the phone they said okay..however, once we arrived at the restaurant the hostess wasn't the most pleasant. I understand how busy restaurants are, especially a new one like this, but being friendly/polite costs nothing. We did have to wait a few minutes, but once seated, our server and her trainee, were very sweet. They gave us great recommendations on drinks and food, and overall we were pretty satisfied. I looked over the menu, and I knew immediately that I wanted the oysters. They. Were. Fantastic. I would go back simply for those. We also shared the chicken taquitos, and calamari. I thoroughly enjoyed the calamari, but the taquitos were a little cold. We assumed it was because of the guacamole..if those were a few ticks warmer, they would have been my second favorite thing to eat. I ordered the fajitas 3 ways for my entree. They were also pretty good. My only complaint about those was the chicken not being very seasoned. I would order them again, but just with steak or steak and shrimp if they would allow that. My one other observation and complaint...there was a Dj. He was mixing the music very well, but at one point a "hip hop and r&b" song came on. From what I noticed, everyone in that restaurant was snapping their fingers and singing along...until, who I believe was the manager or some authority figure, came over to the Dj and asked him to turn it off. I was very disappointed seeing that. I am a woman who loves all types of music, so not being able to hear a song that everyone seemed to be enjoying was disappointing. Overall I give the restaurant an 8/10. I will be back to give it another try. read more

Got it -- here's the tightened, harsher Yelp-ready version with that added clearly at the end: Came in expecting a high-end dining experience and left seriously annoyed. The food is the only saving grace here. The tomahawk steak was genuinely excellent--one of the best I've had--but even that wasn't perfect. The salt added at the end completely overpowered the meat. If you order it, tell them not to do that. The service was absolutely terrible. It took 17 minutes just to get water, then another 15 minutes for cocktails. One of the drinks we ordered never arrived, and I'm pretty sure we still paid for it. No explanation, no apology--nothing. That's unacceptable at this price point. The decor and atmosphere are very nice, but it's extremely loud, making conversation difficult and adding to the overall frustration. Until the service improves significantly, I would not recommend this restaurant. read more

This place is absolutely incredible. When Jill told me we were getting Mexican I didn't expect this place. First of all, the restaurant is unbelievably beautiful! We were greeted and led to a table. We asked if we could eat that the bar and were politely accommodated. I'm not 100% but I think the bartenders name was Armando. Total hospitalitarian. Led us through the menu and made perfect drink recommendations. The food is an easy ten out of ten. Again, this isn't your queso and store bought chips kind of place. Everything is elevated. You owe yourself a dinner here. Whenever I go out to eat, I have a ballpark figure of how much money I'm gonna spend. When Jill told me we were going to Mexican I put that number in my head. We spent way more than that and I cannot wait to go back and do it again. We got the Trace Leche cake and Armando recommended a dessert cocktail and it was quite honestly one of the best spirit and food parenting I've ever had. Don't miss out on it. read more

Had an amazing dinner here! Might be becoming a favorite go to. Pretty as before. Wanted to ty this place for dinner after coming for brunch. Didn't disappoint. We had res at 5, got in about 5:08, had to wait until about 525 before being seated. It was very busy here. Lots of people waiting with reservations. Ambiance is great. There wasn't a DJ yet but the music didn't let you miss that, it was great. It was funny the waitress said DJ is coming but never saw him in the hour + that we were there. Had the cute purse hanger. Came for my friend's birthday and thought we'd get the same treatment we got last time where they give you 3 choices of things you can get i.e. a shot, dessert, or something else i don't remember. We didn't receive any of that. The waitress def knew it was our friends bday. The food was great. I got the lamb chops. The veggies were good and the pompano potatoes as well. A bit diff and mushier than id like but still good. Lucky I had a free tres leches dessert card from the last time for writing a review so we had that which was great! Drinks were good as well. I like Ambar a lot. I got Rubi which was also good. The verde barrel select margarita was also good and smooth. My friend enjoyed her tacos. I thought the bone marrow would come on the tacos and not separate. Highly recommend! read more

Brunch at Piedra Mexican Steakhouse was a whole moment. I came on a Friday afternoon and loved that they actually offer brunch every day. I grabbed a mimosa flight and instantly knew I made the right choice. Only sad part was realizing the Tres Leches item on the brunch menu is Saturday and Sunday only, so I skipped the brunch menu and went with the lamb chops after my server told me they were the move over the octopus. She was so right. The lamb chops were insanely good. We started with the churro waffles which were super yummy. My friend ordered the steak and eggs and we also each tried the mojito margarita which was light and refreshing. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. Probably one of the most beautiful spaces I've been in. Ten out of ten recommend and I will definitely be back. Octopus is happening next time. read more
