Delicious Italian food, I loved the ambiance. Date night here is a great option. I wasn't so excited about their food, it wasn't SUPER phenomenal, it was Italian-American. read more

I'm reviewing this restaurant based on 1 visit. I will return again and update this review pending a second visit. Today's meal was good, albeit a little pricey. I ordered a panini with peppadew peppers (my favorite) and carmalized onions on a soft chibatta roll. It was very good. I did have a problem getting overcharged for a beverage. The manager caught the error and has offered to make it right. I applaud the restaurant for hearing their customers and reading their reviews. I would visit this restaurant again. read more

We had the tavolta pizza and the beet salad. Both good! Not usual a lamb fan but the lamb sausage was nice. Wish service would have been a little more available- we waited for quite some time for our bill. Other than that, pleasant experience! read more

This was my first time here and I'm a little torn. I really wanted to like this place but there are a few issues. First the terrible. The Caeser salad. BLAND, BLAND, BLAND. All I could taste was the radicchio and licorice. The dressing has no taste what so ever and I don't recall fennel as an ingredient. And the croutons were teeth breakers. I did eat about 2/3 of it because I wanted the greens. The Meh. The service. I swear everyone there was Eeyore. No personality or warmth. No how's everything, thanks for coming in. Literally 20 words from the staff to me the entire time I was there. It was just the bare minimum of service. The good. The bread with the dipping sauce. I could eat that everyday and be happy. And the meatballs. I tried the sauce first and thought why such a plain sauce? Then I tried the meatball. So so yummy. You don't need a super complicated sauce. The meatball speaks for itself. I will probably go again to see if I just went at an off time. read more

Absolutely unacceptable. There were 7 of us and no one will return to eat there again. The grilled octopus appetizer for $10.50 had one small tentacle on the plate. The Zuppe de Pesce had such a small amount of seafood, the shrimps were these tiny ones, the rock cod or other white fish were two small pieces, there were about 6 small clams and I don't think there was anything else. The prices are too high for the quality of the food. read more

When they have a special running, whatever it is, its a good deal. One thing sticks out in my mind, though---I made reservations for lunch on a Saturday. They stuck our party of two in a far corner of the restaurant against a wall. I heard walk ins getting much better tables. I went through the trouble of making a reservation, shouldn't I get a better table? That sort of thing makes your realize its a chain. They lost a star for that. Its still very good and a very nice spot--full of light, even on a rainy day. We had special salads which were fresh and lovely. read more

I have to admit that I was looking for something more special about this place. We had dinner for two. First the food: it was OK but nothing I'd come back for. I had the LUGANEGA (House-Made Fennel-Pork Sausages, Pancetta, Roasted Potatoes, Red Bell Peppers, Grilled Onions, Escarole & Stone Ground Mustard Vinaigrette) which sounded great but was not all that exciting. It was rather dry and not fantastic. Dinner wasn't cheap and wasn't stellar for the price. The wait staff was great and made sure things were OK. But I ordered what I ordered and what can I say? I was stuck with this and enjoyed the potatoes. The other thing I found out later is that this is a chain restaurant. I try to support the independent businesses and thought this was one but there is a website with a bunch of these restaurants. There are a lot of other restaurants at University Village and I'd try something else. read more

Been here a few times - rating is cumulative. The last time I went I had a clam cioppino dish. It was really tasty. On the small side if you get a 'half' plate. For those with small appetites. My wife got the chicken parmesean and it was really tasty, a great marinara for the pasta. Service is good, ambiance is nice (upscale), but the food is overpriced since it's in the village. Good food, overpriced, I don't go that often as there are better places to be had. read more

I was left with mixed feelings about their pene pasta dish. The broccoli was exceptionally well seasoned and cooked possibly the best broccoli I've had, but other than that, the dish was appallingly incongruent! I'm still baffled to what the sauce was. It was a very watery tomato sauce with chunks of over-peppered tomatoes and unseasoned chicken in it. I have no idea why they didn't just go with a creamy sauce as would have complimented the broccoli and compensated for the inherit dryness flavor of chicken. Anyhow the experience was OK for the price and you'll definitely want the small portion unless you plan on taking half of it home. Of course you'll get your pasta slightly undercooked, in accordance with the unwritten laws of Italian restaurants delivering "authentic" taste, and you do get the whole cheesy Parmesan cheese tell-me-when-to-stop song and dance. I liked the ambiance, the decor was simple and worked well, enough spacing between tables, and there was adequate space on the table, even though the booth was slightly small for my size a person. Will I go again? Probably not. P.S. The garlic bread was exceptional. read more

I've eaten there twice. Bolth times it was very tasty. Service was great. Nice atmosphere. They have incredibly affordable happy hour and a nice menu to go along with it.... read more

I like Piatti. The staff is incredibly friendly, the food is consistently flavorful, and the pricing is adequate. Some favorites include the pesto gnocchi (seriously the best potato dumplings in the city, fluffy little pillows of delish) the mozzarella/roasted red pepper appetizer, and the arancini. They have a great happy hour as well read more

Always enjoy the dining experience at this restaurant. Started off with a really good bread which is really yummy. I usually ordered the linguine with clams, which is usually good (but can be very spicy sometimes). Ordered their menu of the day as well, and tasted okay. Tried their diver's scallops as well: perfectly moist in the inside, crunchy on the outside... yummm... Very good service. read more

The food is great! Service is great! People are friendly. It is very traditional European style. The water comes in bottles with restaurants own filter. The bread is amazingly complimented with their special olive oil (Super addicting). read more

Beautiful Restaurant! Very clean with a updated interior, menu was small but easy to find something for everyone. My family is Italian, I found the food to be very authentic. Waitress was friendly but somethings said were odd. Ordered the Margarita Pizza and was pleasantly surprised with the delicious fresh mozzarella. Slow service but enjoyable time spent. Will be back! Update: Visited again and had a wonderful dinner with my family! Such a great restaurant! Had the greatest waitress, her name was Haley! Such a sweetheart! Will definitely be back soon! read more

Lunch. Bread with olive oil, vinegar and basil dipping sauce was excellent. Pizza here was thin crust and better than some of the ones in Italy. I thoght service was good. Free parking in the mall. read more

What a relief. Italian is not the "in" cuisine that it was in the 90's. I have been looking for a decent Italian restaurant serving a modern twist for quite some time. My first try at the "new" Piatti was great. We walked up and in and were seated immediately. None of the pretentiousness where the hostess makes you wait with a bunch of open tables just old fashioned hospitality. There was a little mixup about who our waiter was, but once that was cleared up we had a wonderful experience and attentive and prompt service. I ordered appetizer of grilled bread, fig jam and goat cheese with pine nuts...it was very nice. read more

Came in with a friend and enjoyed our dinner. We were in a hurry but still wanted something nicer and a sit-down restaurant. I got the margarita pizza and it was great! Even as a simple pizza it had a lot of flavor. Server was very friendly and we did not wait long on anything we ordered. read more

This is a review of my first visit to Piatti - lunch with a friend on a weekday. It is a nice atmosphere - light and airy. The seasoned balsamic that came with the bread was honestly FABULOUS. We had the calamari to start and it was also fabulous! I'm not big on breaded calamari, but this was not over-breaded or over-cooked as it typically is. The plate was truly wonderful. The green beans and fennel root were unique but welcome partners to the calamari. In addition, it was a generous plate considering the price. I had the tre colori salad which was a blend of savory/bitter greens (arugula, endive and radicchio) with gorgonzola, almonds and figs. The dressing was a bit heavy-handed for my taste and my cheese snob palate noted the gorgonzola was not of the highest quality, but it was still a lovely salad and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My friend had the Caesar which she was disappointed with. It had very little flavor according to her. At this point in time we had enjoyed a nice lunch with excellent service. We expected to just nibble our entrees and take them with us since we'd already had bread, calamari and salad. But we were still looking forward to tasting them! Honestly, the entrees were a HUGE disappointment. We should have just skipped them. My friend ordered the chicken penne (I wondered why she chose that when you can make that at home very easily) and she said it was bland and boring. She planned to take it home and spice it up a bit. I ordered the small portion of the butternut squash ravioli. I really wanted to LOVE this ravioli but I just didn't. It came with baked apples and cinnamon. Don't get me wrong, I love baked apples and cinnamon, but I was looking for a savory entree, not a dessert. And the ravioli itself? Tasteless. I ate one at the restaurant and took the other three home in a box. I ended up tossing them in the yard waste because I had no interest even as leftovers. I would not hesitate to lunch at Piatti again although I would skip the entree and just do appetizer and salad. All in all, it was a nice experience and a fairly reasonable price. I just wish we could take back the entrees. If I went there for dinner I would be VERY careful about what I chose. But you just can't beat the calamari and salad for lunch! read more

Ambiance is not fancy or flavorful but okay. I felt this restaurant look better outside than inside. Service was not fast but decent. Food is what you can expect from a mall. The food- I think this restaurant does some menu pretty well and some not so good. Housemade pumpkin ravioli was excellent- I really enjoyed it, but fish (Mahi Mahi) was boring and not impressive. The bread before dinner were warm, which is good, but a bit greasy. I don't think I will be back given its price. read more

The food was just average. We had the penne with chicken and broccoli. It was very watery and not very flavorful. We also had the chicken breast which was also nothing to rave about. My favorite was the complimentary breads. They tasted really good with the olive oil and vinegar. I don't think I will be going back to this place, there are better Italian places in Seattle to dine in. read more

I've been to Piatti only two times but one thing is for sure, their bread and balsamic vinaigrette is absolutely legendary. It's so delicious! However, their pastas are decent. Both times that I went to Piatti, I got pastas. The first time I went there I had the Penne and it was okay. It was a bit dry but it wasn't anything that I nit-picked about. The most recent time and probably the last time I went would be when I ordered the House Made Linguine. This had clams in it and the clams tasted fishy so I wasn't sure if it was just the dish or if the clams weren't washed well before it was cooked. I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't satisfied either. I don't think I'll go back to Piatti unless a friend suggests it or if there was an occasion that I had to go. read more

I've lived near the village for decades, so I'v been here often. Piatti was one of the first restaurants in the village that was more than a quick stop food fueling station. Frankly, initially I was not impressed. So-so Italian in a so-so space, at too high prices. I had the impression they didn't really care. A few years ago that all changed. New management, new head chief, a major renovation. Now the space is comfortable and inviting, The staff is friendly and welcoming. They seem to care about making the customers experience a positive one. Whether I'm in the main room or the bar, I feel very well taken care of. (I've been coming here enough that I have a favorite table and a favorite place at the bar). The food is very satisfying. I am very grateful that they make a point to cater to people like me that are gluten intolerant. They have a gluten free menu and can make their pasta gluten free. Unlike some restaurants that have gluten free pasta, they do their's perfectly. No pasta envy here. I love the white bean and kale soup, also the gem salad ( excellent white anchovies, I always beg for an extra). Although I've been in many times, I've never got beyond soup or salad and pasta. When I stop in I have the pasta bug bad and need to scratch that itch. Finally, a good wine selection, representing a PNW and Italian choices, and a good cocktail list. This is my go to Italian restaurant in my neighborhood. read more

With great dread I entered this Fritalian-McChain looking beast. However my shopping companion insisted, and it was not to be put off. But really, it was better than I expected. The gnocchi were good and the pesto sauce tasted fresh. The fettucine bolognese was quite OK, but at $16 a bit steep for your basic chain spag bowl. The chocolate tarte was the "must put on the menu" molten chocolate cake that was so way bad a$$ in the 90s, but must now be stopped. read more

The food is great, offering some more unique dishes than the standard italian resaurant. This is a place where a group of my friends and I go for a meal and eat about half of what we get, and the other three eat the remainder, while we eat theirs. The service is always great, great attitudes, great speed, and not TOO attentive (which is a personal pet peeve of mine). The drinks are great, a few of my friends were quite pleased with the selection and ingenuity of the bartenders. It is also one of those places that is just swanky enough to feel like you are going out to a nice place, so you dress up a little. It is not, however, so swanky that you cry at your check if you are on a budget. Its a splurge, but not a heart attack. read more

Not bad for a U Village Restaurant For an afternoon appetizer, the pear crostini was excellent. The sandwiches seemed overpriced, though the polenta fries almost justified the prices. This afternoon, we shared a fairly lackluster pepperoni pizza. The pepperoni itself was great, but the pizza was oily and mediocre. Overall, if you're stuck in U Village and need a bite, it's not a bad option. read more

Nice place, especially in the summer, when you can sit outside in the patio, under the trees. Fantastic service! However, the food... the food is not so great. What a pity. The chef needs to find a recipe, not a better one, but any recipe for real gnocchi because those are not gnocchi read more

Stopped in for a quick lunch with a friend. We shared the basket of warm focaccia, which we both enjoyed. It's a pretty good serving size of bread for the price. My friend ordered some type of pasta with pancetta. I got the $16 lunch special that included an 8" Margherita pizza and Caesar salad. I liked the pizza. However, considering it was wood fired, I expected a bit more of that classic char on bottom. The salad was ok. It was topped with freshly shaved Parmesan and loads of croutons (which are the best part IMO). The dressing was a tad bland. Overall, it was a decent meal. It just wasn't anything special. read more

The food here was actually decent and our waiter in the bar area was really great. However, the price for the portion size is bordering on absurd. There should be no way that this place is rated "$$" for price. Not the most expensive place, but over $80 for two people before tip. Again, some great food and a decent staff, but if you go in expecting more than a small portion for a large price, then you may leave disappointed. Worth a visit to make your own opinion, but we will most likely not return. read more

Oh man, how did I JUST discover the fact that Piatti has a great happy hour menu? Mondays and Tuesdays are up to $25 off a bottle of wine, making most bottles half off! My friend and I shared a $40 bottle of Pinot Grigio making it only $20 due to happy hour. We each had the margarita pizza, our fabulous server Nikki brought over fresh shaved Parmesan and omg it was delicious. The pizza was simple yet perfect. She told us the menu rotated and recommended the rosemary olives, I will certainly try that next time. We will be back for sure. read more

Service was great, but the food was really sub-par. The restaurant had a new modern and hip feel to it, but the food that comes out is just limp and tasteless. We ordered several pastas off the menu and a pizza...the meatball pasta was the most disappointing-- meatballs were questionable and bizarre in taste, and the Ceasar salad had leaves that were bruised and incredibly limp...I was expecting at least the salad to be fresh and crisp...but nope. The pizza was also bit over cooked and bland. This restaurant has so much potential but the food was just barely below average. Bummer read more

This place has been one of my favorites for as long as I can remember so writing what I'm about to say is hard. I had dinner with my grandpa there recently and we both had their soup. Good: 1) our server was great. Nice person... Bad: 1) food took FOREVER to be served, our lunch ended up being around 2 hrs, 2) worst Caesar salad I've ever had. I like anchovies in my Caesar but not when that's all you can taste 3) they forgot an order at our table so we had to wait even longer for the extra dish 4) meatball sandwich was very average, fairly dry, needed more marinara I don't believe I will be going back with so many other Italian restaurants around... read more

Great service! Good wine selection, appetizers and bread & oil!!!! Dinners were average and price was high. Great for groups!

has a nice setting, and seems like it would be very good, but honestly tastes like store bought food. i had gotten pizza and it didn't taste fresh at all, and it needed to be cooked more. service was great, besides the fact that there's a 5% surcharge for the "cost of the employee mandate" which is bs because we had also given a tip. wouldn't recommend if you're getting any pizza there, didn't try any other foods though. read more

Went here today for the first time. No one greeted us. Waitress was doing her best and she looked like she was covering the whole restaurant alone and least 10+ tables solo. My wife has pretty severe gluten and citrus allergies. Waitress was not knowledgeable but was trying and repeatedly went back to kitchen to triple check. Salad came out for her with just greens, not what she ordered. They said they had a dressing without citrusy but then they didnt and didnt ask but just brought out oil and vinegar... um okay. They didnt offer us bread until I asked for gluten free bread. Food came was tasty but as my wife finished she started to have her citrus allergic reaction. I asked if they had put citrus on anything and the manager? came out and basically told us we were wrong and it isnt possible that there was lemon or citrus on anything. They disappeared with my card for what seemed like forever... I wanted to leave. I felt kind of hostage while they figured out what they did. So we get up and stand by entrance and the manager? had the audacity to tell my wife and us that it isn't possible and maybe she has developed another allergy and should consult her doctor... seriously?! She knows her reaction as it has a very specific set of reactions... like partial throat closure (it isn't a full anaflaxus). They didnt offer to comp anything basically just insulted us after we were very specific from the beginning and treated us like we were making it all up. Really mad, frustrated and all in all $55 without drinks or tip for an insulting experience. I am simply appalled. read more
