I came here with my 4 year old son because we needed some cat therapy (our family cat passed away a few months ago and we miss her terribly). This cat cafe is super cute! There are a lot of cats (there must have been 15-20 that I saw. They are hidden all over the place - there are so many nooks all over the place for them to go! A lot of the kitties were napping, but there were a few who were down to play. They all seemed very sweet and didn't mind us petting them. Logistical details: there is a small parking lot outside the cafe where you can park. Don't pay for parking since it can be validated in the cafe! I recently visited the Cat Cafe, looking to adopt my first cat. Well I found him (or he found me)! The cafe has a very nice welcoming vibe. It's clean, cozy, cute and the cats seem happy to be there. I applied for and adopted Brooklyn. Carrie called me for the interview and virtual home walk through. She was wonderful. Carrie listened to my story and told me a lot about Brooklyn. I found another cat café while on my travels-hurray!! I'm loving this trend of adoptable cats being housed in fun coffee shops where patrons pay a fee to visit and can sip on a drink while entertaining the cats. It's a win-win really! You pay $18 per person (even children) per hour. You can order drinks from the counter outside the cat room, then take it in with you and find table or chair to lounge in. Most of the cats are friendly, although there are some with orange collars that may not be too keen on people. Be respectful of all of them, and maybe a little cautious of those with the orange collars. The staff here is friendly and attentive-they care about the safety of the cats and will monitor guest behavior either by walking around the room or observing the cameras. They ask you to abide by the ten cat-commandments listed on the wall before you enter and just overall be cool. Don't pester the cats and they will likely come to you. While walk in's are allowed and accommodated when possible, it's best to make a reservation online. If you are bringing children, reservations are mandatory. read more

My daughter wanted to visit here for her birthday so we planned on advance and made reservations. The cafe part was very good. However we all felt very micromanaged and as most of the cats were sleeping and we can't disturb a sleeping cat it was a lot of sitting around doing nothing, which most of the other patrons were also doing. I have worked as a veterinarian for the Humane Society and understand Fear free handling but being told to watch out for a cat laying a foot from my actual foot was a little overbearing. I was aware the cat was there. I understand the need for guidance but this was two hours out our day between the drive and hour spent there. Letting people know the interaction may be limited would be helpful. We went home and played with our foster kittens instead. read more

My boba sistah and I planned an outing here with her little one on a Caturday, very appropriate. I'd been about 5 years ago when it was still in Tempe, and I was excited to come back. The café is located on Garfield street, can't get more cat friendly than that, and I was lucky to snag metered parking right in front. We walked in and got in line at the café portion, where you can order drinks and snacks and check in for lounge time. Missy, who runs the cafe, is wonderful and was getting drinks made and people checked in for their reservations. There were at least a dozen, maybe two dozen cats roaming around. Some dozing, others playing and giving cuddles. It's nice to see people come and socialize with the cats and consider adopting them as well. Folks of all ages seem to enjoy their time here and it a nice way to spend an hour. What better way to spend your Caturday than to hang out with some incredibly cool cats? I love the concept of this cat cafe. By paying a nominal fee for an hour you can cuddle and play with frisky felines and also sip on some drinks. Almost all of the cats here are available for adoption and there is one resident cat at the cafe, Charlie Chaplin, who is no stranger to the Limelight as he has his own book published about him that you can read about in the cafe. While reservations are highly recommended, they do accept walk ins if there is enough space. We had reservations for the first hour in the morning and there was a steady influx of people coming here on Saturday after us. After you check in with the hostess, you may opt to get drinks at the cafe where you will place your order. It will be brought to you once you've gone through the rules of interacting with the cats and have gone into the cat lounge. Our main reason for visiting was that my toddler absolutely loves cats so we went here so she could have fun. There were so many cute and spunky cats to observe and play with! There was even one that loved to get exercise on a large wheel, what a character! The rescue people here were so nice and friendly and were great with the kiddo. There was definitely one that I would be tempted to take home with me if it weren't for the fact that I'm allergic (I gotta thank Big Pharma for Zyrtec during this kitteh hour) and we already have way too many pets in the house. The toddler asked when we could go back again right after we got back home. As for the drinks? I had a calico chai, partially because I was feeling like having some tea, I like calico cats, and the drink sounded delicious. It's a chai latte with dark chocolate, white chocolate and caramel. It was way too sweet for me though so maybe I'll opt for something more simple next time. The rescue is independently owned and operated and they work with a lot of TNR (Trap-neuter-release) groups so you might notice some of the cats have tipped ears which indicates at one time they were a stray/feral that was part of the program. Overall it was a purrfect way to spend a weekend morning and we can't wait until we go back! You need a reservation and you need to be on time, there cannot be too many people in the place at once for the comfort of the cats. If you are not a cat person or don't understand animals it may be a little disappointing for you. You need to be nice, patient and willing to work for the cats attention. They aren't just going to come up to you and be your best friend. They take a little coaxing. While I believe the place was clean you have to understand this is a place filled with 20 ish cats at any given time. Cats have a little funk to them, there is litter boxes all around, and food. The atmosphere is laid-back, with plenty of places to sit, ramble, and even work - if one wanted or needed to and, apparently, you can rent the space for events! The large space is divided up into smaller spaces, giving patrons and cats plenty of legroom to lounge or wander. The staff is friendly and helpful, and there's even validated parking! I was particularly happy that I got to experience a space like the cafe, a place open for people who don't or can't own pets, but who want some furry interaction from time to time. One can get their fix, so to speak, in a controlled environment that is safe for both cats and patrons alike, and then be about their day. Most of the cats were amenable to being interacted with, and those that didn't want to be touched kept their distance...which is to say the full gamet of cat-like natures and personalities were on display! The PHX Cat Cafe is a excellent way to draw attention to cats that need adopting, while giving people a place to lounge and relax. Cats also get some needed socializing, with humans and other cats, which will increase their chances of being adopted into a forever home. There is an hourly fee of $18/hr, but it's fair for the service offered to us and provided for the cats. The venue was also very clean, no small feat for a space draped in nearly two-dozen cats (and attendant litter boxes)! I hope more places in Arizona open up along similar lines. OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS CAFE!! What an amazing concept! La Gattara is a nonprofit rescue that provides a safe environment for patrons to interact with adoptable cats. It gives much needed socialization to the kitties while also allowing people like me to get our cat fix (I have 3 cats... but still). I love that I am helping to support the rescue by purchasing coffee here. They also offer a bunch of cute cat-related items, such as soap, cat toys, cat ears and apparel. It is very clean and the cats have such a great space to play! The cafe also offers fun events including: morning yoga, drag bingo, and paint night. Reserve your time slot on their website to ensure you get a spot during the lounge hours! They accept walk ins but it's best to secure a time just in case it gets busy. This cat cafe was great. I surprised my boyfriend with a reservation here today and he had a blast. He's been wanting to go to one of these types of cafes for a while. While there is one closer to us, this one looked to be more robust in terms of the cats, food options, toys, etc. The cats looked to be in good health and they were mostly out and about. Their personalities were fun to see as well. Some of them had some attitudes, some liked to hide and sleep, some liked to play, and some liked chasing each other. Both cafe owners were there when we went today and they are amazing. I'm glad to see this business in the area to help get these cute furries a new forever home. Best place I think I have ever been in downtown. The cats come out of there comfort zone once you sit by them. LET THEM COME TO YOU. Now lets talk about the problem. The problem is these parents who think this is a daycare. DO NOT take your kids if they are going to torment these cats. Today a man who had two small children was on his phone majority of the time, allowing his kids to run off and do whatever. The youngest child was literally HITTING this poor tabby with a toy and hand. The cat kept trying to run away while this child ran after this cat. Full on abusing this cat. Throughout the whole 35 minutes of both of us being there, the child abused three cats. I unfortunately was too afraid to get up and say something to staff, thankfully i did after they left. I regret not letting staff know, as these cats deserve better. Replying to the other comments about staff, suck it up. Nicest staff who actually cares about their cats. If your child got scratched from a cat, your child was obviously not listening to the 10 rules and understanding personal space. These cats give signals and warnings PARENTS raise your kids correctly its not that hard. read more

We went on a Friday early afternoon and were able to pay and go in. I can see how it can get crowded on the weekends so be mindful and make a reservation. Cost is $18/person. Yes, for the first second when I saw the cost I was like "oo pricey" BUT it's to help take care of the cats so i did not hesitate to pay. The space was very nice for the cats. Lots of high places for them to hide and relax. There were definitely a lot of cats, but you wouldn't know it unless you start looking around. There are a handful of cats who were not initially wanting to interact and we respected their space. Eventually some came out and allowed some pets. There were a handful who were happy to be petted. So glad I found you, cat cafe! I love cats! Almost as much as my daughter! Unfortunately, my husband is allergic so we can't have one of our own. When I found this place online, I was excited to check it out not knowing totally what to expect. Let me tell you, they have exceeded all of my expectations and then some! I've gone twice now, both times reserving my spot online beforehand. The first time, I brought my daughter (then 5) and my niece (11). The vibe is serene and quiet as you don't want to startle any of the felines. Remember, you're entering their home and they don't want things to be rowdy. There's some rules the staff will go over with you and feel free to order a coffee or a snack right when you get there and they will bring it to you when it's ready. I've learned there's a varying number of cats depending on rescues and adoptions happening. But that doesn't mean there's ever a lack! When you first enter the cat's domain, your eyes will dart from one lying in a corner to another walking by you, and one lying on a table and another perched up high on one of the elaborate climbing walls or features. It's truly so wonderful! They have toys available for you to play with any cats that are in the mood, plenty of seating, and lots of purring! The 2nd time we went, it was just my daughter and I and we got to interact with some particularly sweet and social ones. I would keep in mind that cats are not always the most forthcoming so our initial visit, my daughter was slightly disappointed she didn't get to pet as many cats as she had wanted. Our 2nd time though, she had a cat lay on her leg and a couple followed her around and it totally made her day! Would come here often with friends. Came with some friends and my daughter. We noticed it wouldn't allow us to buy a child ticket prior so we bought an adult. Come to find out they were at capacity with children. My daughter is more well behaved than most adults but understandable. Ask for a refund and the ladies at the front were extremely robotic and "corporate" like with their response of no refunds or no rain checks. The lady even had the audacity to say "you adults can go" and when we said "so we just leave the child here?" her response was "that's on you". Extremely horrible customer service. They let us pet them for a few minutes before and after cat yoga. If you're not into yoga and want more cat interaction I would probably book either just the hour visit, or the yoga and a visit! I just adopted a cat (Eva) from here during the holidays and I can truly say the process was exceptionally smooth. The staff are so kind and really do a fantastic job caring for the kitties! They are very clear about their policies and have always been polite when I have questions. This is a great place to adopt from or just to visit for a little cat therapy. Today I went, and ended up going to their old location (so be sure to check you are going to PHOENIX and not TEMPE!! It is not updated in maps yet!). Well, my good gosh and heaven, what an absolute PURRRRRRfect place and idea. Glad it is finally opened. I waited a few years to check it out. The best way to explain it is that you pay 15 dollars, which of course goes to help support saving a kitty cat life. You hang out in a cat day care center for an hour. lol Get a coffee while you are there. It was delish and the coffee names made me laugh. They also have a very small gift shop with cookies and cat themed items like mugs and such. I bought a catnip toy that at present my fur children are fighting over. Best 15 bucks I paid all year. I'm visiting my 90-year old grandma and wanted to take her for an easy outing. We made reservations and came to the cat cafe today and it was wonderful! There was a huge room with over 20 cats. Most were sleeping but there were about 5 who were very active, playing with the toys and exploring the room. There was an employee working in the room and they were so kind and helpful, bringing cats over for my grandma to pet and checking in with us to make sure we were doing ok. They were also talking to everyone about the cats and their personalities. Very informative and very friendly! My grandma was skeptical when I told her we were going to the cat cafe, but by the time we left she was a converted cat person! She had a blast and it was overall a fun experience.
