    Our pups had a blast!
    Cece R.

I was a little apprehensive about leaving our 6-month old puppies for 3 weeks at Hunter Canine's training retreat, but once we arrived, Chad and Violet put all of our worries at ease. They spent the time with us to discuss all of our goals for our pets, walked us through the facilities, and explained their approach. At our 2-week check-in, we were amazed to see the progress our spunky Toy Fox Terriers had made. Picking up our pets at the end of the 3-week period, we feel prepared and ready to continue their training. Hunter Canine laid a wonderful foundation and we can't wait to continue to build on the skills our pups have learned. They even offer follow-up classes to reinforce their training. We're already planning to board with them for future trips- we trust them with these very important members of our family - our pups. Thank you to Chad, Violet, and all of the wonderful staff at Hunter Canine. Everyone was so helpful and great to work with during this process.

This training program is fantastic. We have used several trainers with our rescue dogs, and we are very pleased with Justin of Hunter Canine. Consistency with a disciplined approach while utilizing corrective communication methods describes their methods here. Summing it up, "Give your dog praise, not a birthday party." Lots of relevant information with respect to a wide range of canine behaviors and how to influence both the positive and negative. Outdoor environment so prepare accordingly: hydration for your dog and sunscreen for you. This was an excellent experience for our very determined Cairn Terrier. We saw a marked improvement both at home and on the walking paths after the third week. Great six week class. We will be back.

We found out about Hunter Canine and our fabulous trainer Violet from another happy client. We had recently adopted a rescue puppy that was poorly socialized and fearful of just about everything. He was resource guarding, refused to leave the house unless I was with him and just generally scared and miserable all the time. We opted for the 3 week in-home program with trainer Violet and she worked wonders on our pup. Not only did they teach him to heal and walk beautifully, he's confident, he's happy and he's relaxed. They took him on outings, socialized him with lots of other dogs and people and exposed him to all the things he missed as a young puppy. He's got a fabulous foundation to be a great family dog now. I highly recommend Hunter Canine and Violet!

We just picked up our 3 y/o golden retriever Harvey from his 3 week board and train. I'm completely blown away with the progress that he's made in such a short amount of time. We originally brought him in for pulling on the leash, ignoring commands, and general restlessness no matter how much physical activity he had. We used to have to throw the ball with him for an hour or two a day to get him to get tired. Since picking him up he's been an absolute delight to be around. It's like we're finally properly communicating with each other. We've been able to take him out for dinners and on walks through busy areas with no issues! Violet and the rest of Hunter Canine have my eternal gratitude for helping me enjoy my dog again.

I am so happy to report that my young lab, Daisy has made tremendous progress thanks to Justin at Hunter Canine. We just completed the 6-week beginner class and on the first day my dog was a barky, squirmy, scared mess. I wondered if there was hope for us....but I wasn't giving up. Justin was excellent and he gave us the tools to begin getting her on the right track. We practiced with her daily and her leash skills and beginner obedience have exceeded all of my expectations. Even my neighbors have commented on the change. We still have a lot of work to do with her fear and barking in new situations...but I'm confident with more training and continued socialization, we will reach our goals. We are signed up for the intermediate course and can't wait to make more progress!

We have friends who took their dogs here and we were shocked at how the dog still behaved, but we also know our friends were a little lax with the instructions. We decided to take our pittie pup here to get some help with his insane energy and lack of listening skills. He was a bit too rough with our older dogs and we wanted to make sure we were going to be able to keep a peaceful home without having all our furniture destroyed. I saw a huge difference in Rosco the first time I went for a lesson. He was prancing around with a huge smile on his face and his tail would not stop wagging, as he stared at Chad waiting for his next command. He looked like a happier, more relaxed pup, and I was so excited to see how much better he was at my next lesson. Since we entertain a lot, it is very important to have dogs who mind, listen, and aren't too crazy when we have a house full of people. Our friends were immediately commenting on how different Rosco was and they were shocked that he was so calm and well behaved. I would strongly recommend Chad and all the trainers who work with these dogs. You can see how much time they spend with the dogs and they genuinely care about the dogs and they want to help them and the families they belong with. I have never had a dog as difficult as Rosco, but now I know where to get help if I ever have another crazy pup!

Paws up for Hunter Canine, the only place you should bring your dog for training. We bought a german shepherd puppy right after our wedding and needed a place where she'd be safe and well-cared for during our weeks' long honeymoon -- bonus for starting her on a positive training journey. From the very first phone call with Chad, we have LOVED Hunter Canine and the entire team. They were open and welcoming to take-in a 16-week old puppy, shaped her with the best manners, and helped us understand what to expect of her based on her own personality and breed needs. Kristi was absolutely patient and very warm when I would check in from across the globe on her. Allie is an absolute dream in not just training our puppy, but teaching us. And Chad is so encouraging and honest in our follow-ups and questions. We are now working towards her Canine Good Citizenship certificate, and looking forward to intermediate and agility classes. Make the Hunter Canine investment in your dog, and yourself as a pet-parent.

My dog at the facility diving and he totally enjoyed it.

I took my Dobermans to swim or dock diving classes at Hunter Canine for many years. Great facility and the dock diving trainer is great. I have had a recent issue with them because they refused to issue a credit for the next session when I did not take my dogs to 2 classes because there was a heat advisory out. I even called to see if they were holding the class that night and they said yes. My dog is black and very high drive and I did not feel having him do anything in that heat was wise so just did not go. When I went to sign up for the next session and asked for credit for the 2 nights when there were heat advisories I was told NO because class was held and not cancelled.

I'm am beyond thrilled with our choice to have our dog, Luna, trained at Hunter Canine! Luna is a 9-month-old English Creme Golden Retriever and while we adore her, she was jumping on couches, counter surfing and wouldn't walk on a leash properly for anything. We enrolled her at Hunter Canine after doing a ton of research. Most other places were a lot less expensive but didn't have nearly the raving reviews or the facility that Hunter Canine did. We took a chance and it was SO worth it. Luna did the 4-week program where she was trained on and off-leash (e-collar), and rattlesnake trained. It's now been about 2 months that she's been back at home and for the most part, she is still such a rockstar dog! No more couches, rarely does she try to grab food from our little ones (she's not perfect), and she walks on a leash like a dream. Don't look any further, it's worth every penny!

A model student at Hunter Canine! Did I mention how nice the grounds are as well!

Secondly, they are an open book, with tours, complimentary half day boatding to trail the dog and the live streaming into the room and play areas. Who doesn't want their pup sleeping in a bed? Petsuites has thought of everything, they are very careful and selective about who they let stay there, which all adds up to a safe amazing experience fot our Doggie. Then I received a text at 4:40 telling me I had to pick my dog up or he would be boarded. They did let me pick him up but like how careless is your staff? How lazy? I've worked at an even bigger dog boarding facility before and we never had our dogs going back with urine on their head & we were extremely organized with food. I was also and am never told if my dog eats his last meal or not. And sometimes they send pawgress reports that I didn't order (not complaining about that) I just feels that showcases more how disorganized they are. I think the key to knowing if an establishment is good is good communication and not having to DO the work of communication that should be their job! A lazy staff = no communication and neglect and errors.
