He was resource guarding, refused to leave the house unless I was with him and just generally scared and miserable all the time. I am so happy to report that my young lab, Daisy has made tremendous progress thanks to Justin at Hunter Canine. We have friends who took their dogs here and we were shocked at how the dog still behaved, but we also know our friends were a little lax with the instructions. We decided to take our pittie pup here to get some help with his insane energy and lack of listening skills. He was a bit too rough with our older dogs and we wanted to make sure we were going to be able to keep a peaceful home without having all our furniture destroyed. I saw a huge difference in Rosco the first time I went for a lesson. He was prancing around with a huge smile on his face and his tail would not stop wagging, as he stared at Chad waiting for his next command. He looked like a happier, more relaxed pup, and I was so excited to see how much better he was at my next lesson. Since we entertain a lot, it is very important to have dogs who mind, listen, and aren't too crazy when we have a house full of people. Our friends were immediately commenting on how different Rosco was and they were shocked that he was so calm and well behaved. I took my Dobermans to swim or dock diving classes at Hunter Canine for many years. Great facility and the dock diving trainer is great. I have had a recent issue with them because they refused to issue a credit for the next session when I did not take my dogs to 2 classes because there was a heat advisory out. I even called to see if they were holding the class that night and they said yes. My dog is black and very high drive and I did not feel having him do anything in that heat was wise so just did not go. When I went to sign up for the next session and asked for credit for the 2 nights when there were heat advisories I was told NO because class was held and not cancelled. read more

Our 5 month old Lab puppy Emmie just completed Hunter Canine's 3 week board and train program with Erica. We are completely blown away by Emmie's new leash skills, and it is an absolute delight to walk her now. Natasha, our 5 month old labradoodle is so good since she came home, that she is a pleasure to be with, to take on walks, to cuddle with and eveything else. I rescued My dog from a rescue agency at 7 months old. He suffers from anxiety and being a larger dog it can be quite intimidating to others when I would attempt to walk him. My husband and I have worked with several different training facilities over the years with our dogs. We learned and grew as handlers from each class we took. We have worked with a variety of tools and methods, based on what our dogs responded best to (not every tool/method works for every dog). With that being said we felt we knew a lot but Hunter took our education to an entirely different level. We are far better handlers after going through Hunter's training than ever before. They not only give you the tools to train your dog but they provide education and explanations for you to learn to be a better handler. We decided to take our rescued 2 yo Belgian Malinois to Hunter after having her almost a year and not getting the results we wanted. She was dog reactive/aggressive on a leash. When she saw another dog on a walk she would pull, lunge, bark, snap; this was complete freak out mode and we couldn't re-direct her. We wanted to be able to take her places and get started in different dog sports but her reactivity made it nearly impossible. I refuse to send my dogs anywhere without meeting the people and seeing the facility first so Andrew scheduled a meet with us prior to us committing to any training. We were impressed with what we saw and bumped up our initial plan of doing training in June to February. We signed her up for their training retreat for 4 weeks with Andrew. I didn't expect much because, well, we had done everything to try to solve her reactivity with very little success. BUT Andrew gave us the tools we needed and a miracle! Andrew and the other trainers far exceeded my expectations. Once we picked up our dog, we practiced what Andrew taught us at home and attended the follow-up classes. We also are going to start her in Intermediate obedience to keep her and us learning. We've taken her out for walks and participated in Barn Hunt with little to no issues (she is in drive mode so that is why we expect to experience little issues). The big test was taking her to the Phoenix Pet Expo at WestWorld just 3 weeks post training retreat. We took her to the event and she behaved wonderfully. Dogs were walking past her and she didn't react at all. She also finished up Hunter's swim class last month and she had a blast. Attending wouldn't have been possible without her training with Andrew. We look forward to more swim classes and maybe dock diving in her future! Don't be fooled they can train your dog but it is up to you to continue the work and learn from them. Life has been easier with her trained. It is the best money I have spent in a long time. AMAZING!! Hunter Canine took my "babies" (full grown boxers), and taught them how to be a pleasure to have in the house, on a walk, or when guests are around. Everything I was hoping for. (I would say swimming but that sounds like an enjoyable activity which for them it is not.) I brought my black lab puppy here after she was being a little difficult. I wasn't used to the Labrador barking or the slight stubbornness (aka: attitude) my pup brought with her. I was feeling like she'd look at me and say "I don't have to listen to you! You're not my real mom!" :-) All jokes aside, I spoke with Chad to go over any concerns I was having. I booked Mason for the in-home training retreat and she lived with Justin for 3 weeks. When I say she was 90% reformed afterwards, I mean it. She went in when she was around 5 or 6 months old and was in dire need of impulse control. We're still working on that, she's still a puppy. Follow up classes are so helpful and definitely needed for continued success. I've been slacking on the follow up courses, but plan to start again soon. I'm happy to report that she's still doing awesome now at a little over 1 year old. I get compliments all the time on how well behaved she is, even when she's extra excited around other dogs and people. She's not barking, pulling, etc. She comes when called, which is SO important. We had a bit of a scare last month when she was off leash (bad human--I have a habit of dropping her leash and having her walk next me when my hands are full) and she was startled by an unfamiliar noise. She took off running and all I had to do was call her name and say "whoa", and she stopped dead in her tracks. She came back when I said "come". I attribute this responsiveness to Hunter Canine's training. I was able to build upon what HC instilled in her and customize her training to our needs. Anyway, cannot say enough about this place.
