My boys were headed out of country and when I asked what they wanted before they left, they answered quickly: sushi and pho. The sushi is for another review, but we went back to PhoEver for lunch on Monday. As always, the service was attentive, efficient, and polite. We've become creatures of habit and get the same thing... all three of us love the chicken pho. The boys like adding the different toppings and sauces to personalize their dishes... Max goes so hot that he sweats! For drinks, I go with the Thai Tea (5/5) and the boys say this is their favorite lemonade ever (10/5), they particularly like the sourness. nice restaurant and area it's located in! we ordered chicken and pork banh mi, and it was decent. did the job but not "authentic" tasting. it came with kettle chips which were good but wished they had shrimp chips or something else with it. the banh mi was lacking something, like some kind of spread on the bread and the veggies weren't as pickled as i expected. it's definitely a less authentic viet type of restaurant. but it'll do the job if you're in the area. service was nice there's free structure parking. probably will not be returning read more

They take a while to check in on you at your table despite you making eye contact to the point it's getting awkward. Portions are very small, I've been to many other pho restaurants where the bowl and side toppings are loaded to the top but here even the water cups were cartoonish small almost like they're pranking you. Pricing isn't too far off from other places maybe 2 dollars more at most, however for the portions you get it's not a bang for your buck. Overall would rank higher if portions were bigger and they weren't so stingey with the toppings and if their water cups were bigger as well, service I could do without but would be nice for someone to check if you need water for the ridiculously small cups they give you. read more

This is an unassuming little place in Washington St. near the main drag of Murphy Ave. There were lots of Pho options, along with starters and more solid dishes. We went for the Pho because we were trying to shake the last effects of annoying colds. To quote my wife, the chicken option was Photastic! Very savory and flavorful with the regular add ins like bean sprouts, jalapenos, basil and onions. The setting was basic but upbeat, and holiday tunes played while we are. The server was friendly and attentive and made suggestions to help us choose from the menu. To those who say the meals are pricey, we paid about $50 for the both of us with the Pho, eggrolls and tip, but we got two meals out of it, and the soup apparently takes 16 hours to fully prepare. I usually don't drive far for pho--but I make an exception for Pho Ever. Their fresh noodle pho is absolutely worth the drive. I always order the fatty beef broth with half sliced raw beef and shredded chicken breast. The broth is incredibly rich and flavorful--way fattier (in a good way) than most other Vietnamese spots in the Bay Area. It's deeply satisfying and has become my go-to pho combo. Honestly, this might be the best pho in the Bay Area. So why not 5 stars? Well... they always forget something. Decided to stop in for some pho following my nail appointment next door at the organic nail spa. Their menu had many different options to choose from. I like that they have premade pho combinations or the option to create your own. I did the create your own and my friend got their #2 bowl. We also ordered a pork bahn me and half order of spring rolls. The chips with the bahn me were my favorite. Overall food was really good quality. We did order drinks: morning in vietnam (coffee) & passion fruit tea. The downside is they were delivered halfway through the meal towards the end. The shop is very quaint however noise carries and it can be a bit overwhelming. When we entered there was a party with multiple kids and no shade to them cause they're kids but it was loud. If you're noise sensitive like me, maybe take out will be better next time. Service wasn't the best, when we entered we were unsure if we stand and wait by the door or go up to the counter to ask for a table. We ended up going to the counter and asked what do we do to dine in, the worker asked us how many and said they need to clean a table (there were two small tables open). It sort of felt like we were pushed to the side afterwards cause the worker wanted to help the person behind us and then more people started to line up. I then decided to go sit at one of the open tables cause it didn't look like the worker was going to lead us there anytime soon. Towards the end of the meal the same worker was wiping down tables nearby and we asked for the check. I would not order the lemonade from this restaurant ever again. Does not taste freshly squeezed, but something more likely made from a concentrate which is disappointing for a Vietnamese restaurant. I asked them if there was sugar on the bottom and they took my cup back, but when they returned, it still tasted the same so I'm not really exactly sure what they did to it. I ordered the custom for with fatty bone broth, which was above average, but the tai meet was not great. It was all clumped together at the bottom of the bowl so it was fully cooked and chewy. It didn't taste like the highest quality meat but the meatballs were fine. I do like how they give each person their own bowl of garnish. I was able to request a hot cup of water which came in a ceramic style mug, which I appreciate. In general, if you need something and you flag one of the guys down, they get back to you pretty quick. read more

One of my go to places for pho! I always get beef pho with the bone in short rib, along with their spring rolls. The short rib is the star of the show- literally falls off the bone! The spring roll comes with an amazing peanut sauce that you can't replicate with a store bought sauce. Overall, I would go back keep going back to PhoEver because of the short rib. I've been here a number of times over the years, only ever trying Pho FWIW. Quality of their meats is great, definitely the best in the area -- cannot complain on that, even their "basic" rare steak is high quality and tender and my wife REALLY likes the rib. Their pho broth is very basic and could use some additional herb flavor IMO, but it's not bad by any means. I stumbled upon PhoEver while looking to grab some coffee nearby, after a group of us had hung out at Tipsy Putt, all within walking distance of each other. This Vietnamese restaurant is surrounded by apartment buildings on all sides, which is connected to a greater set of living and shopping in downtown Sunnyvale. The wait on this Saturday night was not bad and the size of this place is on the smaller side. I had to order their Bun Bo Hue as I do whenever it is available wherever I go. I was impressed with the authenticity and flavor of their spicy beef broth. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised at this Sunnyvale restaurant's BBH. Of note, they have small paper forms at each table and small pencils where you can build out a custom bowl of Pho for yourself. I would like to try this out next time. After hanging out with friends nearby, I discovered PhoEver nestled amongst the tall apartment buildings in the downtown Sunnyvale area. The space inside is on the smaller side but well laid out to maximize what they have to work with. The ceilings are tall so I didn't feel claustrophobic. Tried both the rare steak with meatballs and chicken pho. The steak and meatballs were tough, but the broth and noodles were good. The chicken pho overall was pretty good so if you're looking for chicken options, this could be a good choice. I wouldn't order the steak pho again. I do appreciate how you can customize your pho by choosing what protein you want, what kind of noodles you want, and what extra condiments you like. I feel this is a good way to try and cut back on food waste, and wish more restaurants offered this. I also caution everyone that they do charge a 3-4% service fee. Pho broth was very salty. Even pouring the water from the water pitcher to dilute the broth didn't help. The meat was, in turn, also salty. Orders were mixed up for two people in our party--one didn't have vermicelli in their vermicelli dish and the other was given the thin noodle and not the fresh noodle. Note: for those unfamiliar with Viet food, the fresh noodle simply means the flat noodles, but does not refer to noodles that are freshly made. Ambiance isn't bad. If you come with a large party like we did (7) , then they may seat you at a table and table benches that's nailed down. The legs of the tables are like pipes and since you can't scoot the benches back either, watch your knees. A few of us came out with bruises on our knees. It also made getting in and out a hassle because of how close the benches are to the table. read more

I came here for the first time for a nice warm bowl of pho on a cold day. I ordered a build your own bowl pho with brisket, rare steak, and thick noodles. It didn't take long to come out after ordering. I was most excited about the 16 hour broth. My first impression of the beef broth soup was that it was very salty, especially compared to other pho places that I've tried. The flavor was good, but I just wished it had less sodium; I didn't need to use hoisin or hot sauce because there was already so much flavor. I'm curious about the fatty broth; I might try it next time if I return. The thick fresh noodles were good and everything else was standard. They give a generous portion of bean sprouts. The Thai tea was very sweet and creamy with lots of jelly toppings. The cost of the food is slightly high for what it is but the portions are big. I ordered the shrimp and pork spring rolls and the preset oxtail pho (there are options to DIY your own pho bowl, but the preset ones are more worth it, in my opinion). The broth, supposedly boiled for 16 hours, had a richness that you could really taste. The soup was fantastic and instantly satisfied my pho craving. The oxtail was amazing too! The spring rolls were gone the instant they arrived at the table. They, along with the included peanut sauce, were so addictive. VEGAN/VEGETARIANS BEWARE!!! I have told my family and little sisters to come here however now I am going to tell them to NOT. I absolutely adore this place I've been coming since 2015 or so when they opened after going to a flywheel class (now it's cycle bar). I even had met the owner and she was so friendly and gave me a black soup spoon because I told her I wanted to buy one and she gifted it to me because I was such a frequent customer. However - today I had an insane experience with a staff member. I ordered the green vegetarian spicy hue on the phone. She said "we only have chicken or beef broth" to which I said "I want the vegetarian spicy hue" she said ok "spicy hue". I was a little worried because she said a few times we don't have a spicy vegetarian broth. I said - on the menu there is a green spicy hue. So anyways I go to pick up the broth- a kind gentleman staff member helped me when I picked it up. I realized they gave me the beef spicy hue when I got home. No one in my house eats meat. I called and explained to the female staff member the mix up to which she got very defensive and said they don't have vegetarian broth. I asked her to give the phone to someone else because she wasn't helping me come to a resolve and the male staff member came on and he said to call back in ten minutes so he can call the manager to have her refund it. I live in Los Gatos and couldn't come back at 8 pm and needed the refund. So I called back and the female staff member went OFF on me. I hung up on her because she went on a rant about how she's worked at the restaurant the longest and how they other people don't know anything. I don't tolerate yelling or disrespect so I hung up and excused myself from the situation. I'm very very sad to leave this review but I don't feel comfortable to come back to a place where the longest working staff member isn't educated on the menu offerings. And had the audacity to yell at me and refused to refund me. If anyone should be mad, it should be me as my religion doesn't permit beef and it was brought into my house!! And luckily I could smell the difference and didn't taste it myself! I could have been very very sick. Ultimately I love the vegetarian green spicy broth. It's one of a kind in the bay! But this experience is unacceptable. And there was no remorse. Just yelling. Vietnamese food is my favorite, so I was excited to see a place with some clearly marked vegetarian items. I started with the tofu rolls. Loved the fact that the tofu was grilled and a little smoky. The peanut sauce had a great consistency which was even better with the bits of fried garlic on top. The waiter recommended the green spicy hue as a comforting dish, and since it was a cold night, it seemed like a good choice. I love pho, but there were no veg options for that. The hue broth was rather thin and lacked a depth of flavor. It had a good amount of noodles, but not much tofu or veggies, which was a shame at the price point. When the bill arrived, they came by with a credit card machine. Automated tip options were 18% and then the next highest was 25%. I don't prefer to tip less than 20%, but didn't appreciate these presets that clearly were pushing for a high standard (not in line with level of service required/received). I was hoping to come back to try the shaking tofu, but think I'll likely pass in favor of some better options in terms of flavor, quality, and service. read more
