I'll start off by saying this review is not about the food, but about them not following COVID precautions, during my visit. This is the third time I've picked up from them during the pandemic and the first time I've noticed them not following the rules. However, it was a big issue in my opinion especially with numbers on the rise and I feel like others should be warned. When I visited today, three employees were not wearing a mask. The woman who was packing up my to-go order and standing near the tables where you pay, had no mask at all. The woman who came to ring me up had not been wearing a mask and only put one on when she came to help me. And while I was waiting, I noticed a third woman going from the kitchen to the counter with what looked like a pot of soup in her hands without her mask on her face. It was around her neck. In addition, a school age child was in the restaurant without a mask. This is a blatant disregard of their posted safety precautions, against the rules of Santa Clara county, and made me feel incredibly unsafe. I will not be returning. And will be warning others. This really disappointed me because their food is great. I'm all for supporting local businesses and restaurants, but not if they're going to take unnecessary risks with my health and break the law in the process. read more

This place has amazing vegetarian pho. I tried their tofu banh mi today and for the price the portion was not bad. They didn't provide a lot of chips with the banh mi, but I preferred that. The tofu was super flavorful and the pickled veggies complemented the tofu and sauce they used in the sandwich. In addition the bread was freshly toasted and tasted soooo good! I would highly recommend the banh mi if you want something light for lunch. I've also had the Spicy Green Hue in the past and I would highly recommend it! The broth is flavored very well and its quite spicy (just the way I like it). They also give you an adequate number of veggies and its quite filling. The service is always really great and fast! I didn't get the pho here but the meal was still unphogettable! We got the shaken beef, beef stew, and pork and shrimp vermicelli and it was scrumptious! I was seeing some reviews saying the dishes weren't flavorful but I honestly disagree. The shaken beef by far was the most delicious. I kept stealing cubes of beef from my brother because they were so juicy and succulent, and it tasted heavenly with the onions and garlic rice. The beef stew paired with the bread was excellent. The stew was perfectly tangy, the beef extra soft, and the bread roll was crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. The vermicelli pork and shrimp had a smokey flavor, both contrasting nicely with the refreshing and crisp veggies that came with it. It was topped with peanuts and an appropriately tangy sauce that provided an extra burst of flavor. Finally, the coconut water came in an actual fresh coconut! Made with fatty brisket, rare filet mignon slices, meatballs and tendons it's an all beef yummy goodness. The soup is very balanced, you really don't need any condiments except for the fresh veggies they provide you with. The fried egg rolls is superb, it's combination of yams, ground pork and shrimp. They were offering free appetizers for its opening day which was great; we ordered fried rolls. I ordered the pho with meatballs and I have to say I'm in love with the broth. It's light but packed with flavor, not oily at all. My only complaint which I can look past because of it being their first day is they offered us free appetizers but forgot to bring it out until the end. The guy in the beginning seemed to be jotting our order on his iPad but then never remembered? Hopefully it's something they can work on and get right next time. Overall, the place is beautiful, the food was delicious, and a little on the pricier side. Because it's one of the closer pho locations, I will be swinging by more often. My favorite place to eat and now with Covid, my first choice for pick up. I recently picked up the beef pho, shaken tofu with garlic noodles, fresh springs rolls, and ice coffee. They practice safe paying and have a table at the door so you don't enter and can pay with a card or apple pay. The staff is super nice and love supporting small business owners. You walk into this place and you probably expect hipster pho (something different and unconventional), but the food is traditional in my opinion. My husband ordered the pho with the steak while I ordered the bun bo Hue (spicy beef noodle soup). I have to say that their pho is not the best I've tried. Tasted like a mixture of chicken and beef broth, but the bun box hue is up to par with some restaurants in the east San Jose area. Very flavorful and savory. My family is from the region of Vietnam so I know how good it can be. I definitely recommend this entree. Since this place is located in a more trendy area, the prices are high (I would say about 10-20% more than other pho restaurants). However the service is also a lot better than most pho restaurants. Flavors are on-point. I have gone here at least 3x, and for the most part, have been satisfied with their flavors for beef pho, beef stew, spring rolls, and beverages (thai tea, vietnamese coffee). Taste-wise, the only disappointment for me was their egg rolls (fried) -- it was dry on the inside, and wrapped in chinese egg roll wrapper. It was the complete opposite of why I like Vietnamese fried rolls, i.e., wrapped in rice paper that gives it a different type of crisp on the outside, and being moist on the inside. Portions are also noticeably smaller than other Vietnamese restaurants for the same price points, esp protein-wise on their entrees. This is not a non-starter, but best keep this mind when ordering so you can manage expectations. read more

The worst pho experience I've ever had! Went there on a weekday evening around 5 PM.... I ordered standard beef soup pho with BRISKET and regular noodles - how hard is that to not get right? I got slabs of fat in a sour disgusting broth. It was certainly hot, and the noodles were noodles, but the soup was really awful and the "brisket" was 90% or more fat. I've have pho on vacation in Vietnam itself and eaten in some pretty "seedy" local places with surprisingly excellent pho, so I was not prepared for the disgusting slop this place serves. As I was paying the bill, my waiter suddenly noticed me and that I was not tipping. He asked what was wrong, I told him that the food was disgusting, the brisket was all fatty globs of blah and the broth was sour or spoiled or something. His reply, "Come back again and we will try harder to please you." I saw great reviews, so I thought I would try the place, but there is no way I'd go back. read more

I came here on a Tuesday at lunch instead of going to work (oops) and got a table for one immediately. Ordered the combination pho ($13.25 for a large) and spring rolls ($6.50 for 4 rolls). For some reason, the combination pho is the only one out of the 3 options that isn't offered in a small size -- I usually can't finish a large bowl by myself, so I was disappointed that there wasn't a smaller option for this one. The spring rolls came out pretty quickly in a few minutes. The pork belly and spring in the rolls was tender and the accompanying peanut sauce was delicious. Unfortunately, halfway through my second roll, I got a surprise -- a long, thick, black hair in the middle of the spring roll. I understand that sometimes accidents happen, but this hair was more than half the length of the spring roll, rolled up with the vermicelli noodles. How was that not noticed when the rolls were being made? The rest of the rolls were fine, but I was a little grossed out. I got the pho about 10 minutes after getting the spring rolls, and the bowl was GIANT. I'd initially thought $13 was pricey for pho, but since the portion was so huge, I'd say it ended up being worth it. The pho was pretty good, not the best I've had but definitely up there. The broth was really flavorful and the steak was good. Service was okay, I had to flag down the waitress whenever I needed something, but this is pretty standard for Asian restaurants I think. 3.5 stars for the food, minus 0.5 stars for the hair (ew). One of my favorite local places for pho. Considering it is only ~8 mins from me by car, I always go here for pho. I'm sure there are probably "amazing" pho places out there in the Bay, and maybe this isn't one of those, but it's damn good enough. It NEVER fails to satisfy. The place is clean, the service is nice, and the food always looks fresh and tastes delicious. We came at lunch time looking forward to trying this place. We got seated, and the restaurant was not even halfway full. Me and my wife both ordered a pho and an appetizer (spring roll) and a ice tea and water. 10 mins had passed and we haven't even got our drinks yet and it wasn't busy at all. Finally after 20 mins, our drinks came and along with both our phos. We never got our spring rolls. They never checked up on us, and the veggies and lemons that comes with the pho came like 5 mins after. When I mentioned our missing springs rolls, the server was shocked. I usually go to the food chains for pho, but this time i decided to try Phoever since it seemed to have really good Reviews on yelp. I ordered Passion fruit lemonade from the drink menu. It was a combination of lemonade and freshly crushed passion fruit extract. A very refreshing drink for the summer. We started with Banh mi chicken sandwich. It had a filling of juicy and tender chicken with some coleslaw. The combination was just perfect. Also ordered a small Chicken Phó as compared to regular portion. The quantity is just right for one person. After trying this pho, I might never go back to my usual local pho chains. Highly recommend if you enjoy pho. read more

Got a banh mi with chicken and a rice vermicelli entree with roast pork as takeout. Meat was very juicy and flavorful in both cases. Sides were also on point. So I came back on a Saturday afternoon after visiting the farmer's market and tried a few more dishes. I originally gave a 4 star review because the only thing that stood out was the bun bo hue. Tiny rolls were fried well and not oily, but feel like it lacked some pork flavor, depth, and savory flavors. Bun bo hue: really good! A fair amount of noodles, with a TON of meat in a big bowl of soup. The broth was clear but very flavorful. When it first arrived, the cilantro was very dominant. However, as the cilantro settled in with the soup, it really enhanced the flavor. Make sure you squeeze the lime into the soup, it gives it an extra note of tang! This place serves comfort food at its best. We ordered the chicken pho and tofu Baha Mi. You can order the pho in a regular size or a large size. Regular size is itself pretty huge so if you are not a big eater I would recommend taking the regular sized pho bowl. The tofu bahnmi was tasty and fresh but I highly recommend the pho here. The pho was subtly flavored and extremely comforting. The cost of the pho was about $11 and the sandwich was about $9 which is pretty budget friendly for the quality and quantity of food! Solid pho although a little new age fusion rather than your typical delicious hole-in-the-wall. For example their pho meat is "filet mignon" so even if you get a pho tai (basic) the meat is thicker but very tender. A small is $10.75 and relatively filling although I don't eat a ton. Most people get the larger size for a little more. They have vegetarian options too. It's also nice that they give individual plates of bean sprouts, jalapeños, basil, and lime for each order so you don't have to share. Cute little bucket of mints on each table to add a little ambience. Taken me PhoEver to review this place but not anymore. I'd say this is the most modern of the Viet places I've been to in a while. It has the high open ceilings and clean solid tables and clean floors with no carts running around with dirty dishes and being served at a numbered table. Menu is pretty simple they are known for the noodle soups and they do a good job with them. I always get the veggie green Bun Bo Hue as it's my go-to way to judge how they make a vegetarian version of the popular dish of Hue with out all of the meat parts that Vietnamese people use customarily. Vietnamese like to eat every part of the animal by the way, everything... For some reason Viet places in the US love to serve veggie pho with thick noodles that fall apart and they use regular noodles for the meat versions. I have no idea why but I always have to ask for the thinner noodles which are the normal noodles normally served with this dish. Don't go changing that on me..:) It's a solid bowl of noodles and worthy of trying. They serve it with this red chile paste which I always ask for more. Noodles are cooked really well and the broth has a good flavor considering it has no meat. The tofu is also good and sliced thin and seasoned. They also give you lots of toppings of sprouts and jalapenos and shredded cabbage to add which is nice. Veggies are not overcooked or undercooked. They are perfect. I've tried the Ban Mi sandwich and don't recommend that dish. It's pricey and they put very few toppings and it has no crunch and tastes too sweet. They have another stir fry dish with Tofu but it has no veggies so I've passed. Wish they could create a few more veggie items on the menu but I guess I'll just stick with the noodle soup as it's pretty darn tasty. Service is always fast and friendly. It's not even all that busy so you don't' have to wait to flag someone down. Vermicelli bowl and rare steak pho... 1) place is very clean and it appears that they are doing every precaution to limit spread (facemasks, limiting folks inside, etc.) 2) The food is WOW. How do people in this area live so close to here and not obsessively eat this all the time. 3) filet mignon in rare steak pho i'm pretty sure is actual filet mignon. Very tender and high quality (you can literally see them slicing the filet in the kitchen) 3.5) you can keep the quality of pho pretty damn good for take out. I put my broth in a pot to reheat. Once it gets to a simmer, I add my noodles and use chopsticks to separate them. I then add my meat and immediately eat. This preparation is just as good if not better than in-store 4) vermicelli bowl quality of ingredients phenomenal. I got mine with peanut sauce and grilled chicken. Again 10/10 perfect for a summer day 5) vegetarians: beware there is fish sauce in the TO-Go sriracha (i think the in store one is fine). it says it pretty well on the container but FYI. Menu is pretty veg friendly, and when I eat with vegetarians, they love the food here. Non-vegetarians: this sriracha is the best i've ever had. EAT IT!! So happy to have come across this lovely Pho house just minutes from my residence. At first, I was a bit skeptical of this place given that it's located in downtown Sunnyvale, not an ideal place for authentic Vietnamese food, per se, but I must say - this venue has exceeded my expectations in various ways. The venue itself is contemporary-rustic themed with an adequate amount of seating. As well, they include tall, vaulted ceilings and large windows which allow plenty of natural sunlight inside. Their tables are beautifully made of wood and for larger parties, long benches are readily available. As expected, Pho is slightly pricier here than your average Pho house, however, it's well worth the price ($11) given that all their soup orders come in a large sized bowl. Their Pho is freshly made to order; all the meats, tender and rice noodles perfectly cooked and not overly soft. I appreciate the generous amount of toppings they provide per order, typically I'd request for additional jalapeño's or basil, though that wasn't necessary here at PhoEver. Only downside I have with this place is that they close relatively early (given its location is nearby bars/pubs which close much later in the evening) and all day on Sundays. She recommended coming to PhoEver, since she has dined here before and enjoyed her meal. Now, I wasn't really in the mood for pho, since it was so warm out, so I decided to order the Tofu Banh Mi. It's not really your typical banh mi. There wasn't much inside my sandwich besides the grilled tofu. It wasn't totally bad, but it also wasn't good either. There's a sauce on the tofu I didn't really like. I say just skip this menu item. $7.75 for a mediocre banh mi. You really won't be missing out on anything. Anyway, it typically cost $5 for a better quality one on fresh bread at a an actual banh mi shop. Service here is ok. The girls that helped us were nice, but...after they cleared our plates...we did have to go up to the cashier to pay for our bill (not sure if they were supposed to bring it to us?).
