21. Veggie and Tofu Rice Noodle Soup
Parita A.

My true rating would be a 3.5/3.75. Great option if you're looking for a quick, casual meal in Boston. Ordering was easy. You order at the counter, find a seat, and the food comes out pretty quickly. We had the summer rolls and the vegan ramen. The summer rolls were fresh and flavorful, and the peanut sauce was especially good. The vegan ramen was also enjoyable, with good-quality ingredients and a satisfying broth. My only real critique is that I wish there were more options to add heat. I tend to like my noodle soups on the spicier side, and I would have loved more chili oil, hot sauce, or other spicy condiments to customize the flavor. There was also SO much broccoli and that really took over the soup, I wish there was a bit more variability or balance in the veggies. Overall, the food was tasty, the quality was solid, and the service was fast.

Really terrific food here - we ordered takeout beef pho and banh mi and both were really exceptional. The only thing I'd say is that this is a bit pricier than some of the other Vietnamese places I've been to, but it's definitely a place I'll be back to often. Beef Pho ($15.95) - The broth here is great - so nice and savory. You can tell that it simmers for a really long time to get all of that flavor from the bones. It has a bit of a sweet note to it as well which is a bit more than I'm used to, but I really liked it still. There was a good amount of meat, and the whole soup experience was great, especially for takeout. They did skimp on the bean sprouts and herbs with takeout though - it was a pretty small amount of veggies, but still a really solid pho. Banh Mi ($9.75) - Yes, the price is a bit high for this one as well but the size was HUGE. The pickled veggies were perfectly sweet and tart, and the cilantro added a nice freshness with the cucumbers. The bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the balance of flavors here was really spot on. And, like I said, it was HUGE. Definitely not the cheapest Vietnamese food I've had, but also absolutely delicious - I will be back!

18. Fish Ball Noodle Soup
Joelle L.

Solid pho place on Commonwealth by the BU campus. The two items I've gotten here, Fish ball pho and lemongrass pork vermicelli, are flavorful and definitely satisfy my Vietnamese food cravings. I want to come back to try their banh mi and their drink options. Convenient for take out and you could dine in as they have a couple tables but plan for extra time to wait if you come during the weekend or before an event at Agganis Arena. Their space is smaller and it can get quite busy but it's well managed.

Amazing food! Every dish we have tried is great but the pork chop rice plate and Special Pho are a favorite. Bahn Mis also need a little shout out. I have been going to the same Vietnamese restaurant in the Bay Area since I was a kid and have tried many many different places throughout the country and especially the east coast since going to college and moving out here and this is the only place I have tried that comes close to my place back home. Even took my parents here during a visit right after they returned stateside from a vacation in Vietnam and they loved it. Don't hesitate to try this place out I can't recommend it enough!

Everything was pretty good you just have to tweek your order. Also got side of chicken broth not sure if it was from scratch didn't ask as we got it to go got a cold cut banh mi which was solid. I shall return. Use to buy banh mis when they were at the food court in super 88 up the block.

Not sure I would describe this place a hole-in-the-wall, like some reviews say. Maybe it's because I've been to more run-down places than this in the past LOL, but Pho Viet's is a small restaurant with lots to offer. They have a few tables and chairs for dining in, and whenever I drop in, there are always lots of people eating inside. I like to order carry out from here because of how close it is to home. Service is fairly quick and they have a very large menu. What I appreciate the most is their generous portions. I can get almost two meals out of one order, so it's worth the almost $20 for an entree!

Bun Bo hue
Eri L.

Stopped by on a rainy day and found the bun bo hue to be a great pick-me-up. It was very comforting and portions were generous. Very mildly spicy. The beef tendon was very tender and I appreciated the variety of meats in this dish. Food came out quick and service was friendly. There are plenty of tables in the back of the restaurant.

4. Three Pieces Vietnamese Spring Roll 25. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup 33. Lemongrass Chicken Breast with Rice Plate

This place is always reliable and very comforting. The food is good and taste fresh. You order at the counter, it can get packed not much seating. But there are tables if you want to dine in. Highlight is the food.

Pho with Rare Steak
Angelina R.

The pho was delish! Despite being busy, the restaurant didn't feel overcrowded and the food came out extremely fast. On top of that, the portions were huge for a very reasonable price. This is a great spot for warm, comforting vibes and to grab a tasty bowl of ramen with friends or family!

Special beef noodle soup
Oliver H.

Just a short walk away from Agganis Arena and accessible via the green line! Got the special beef noodle soup and it was delicious and a large serving size for it's cost. The amount of meat was good and the broth was very clean and had a depth of flavor. Didn't take a picture of the skewer appetizers but they were 3 large sized skewers which was decent for it's price. Not the best location for big parties since there's an assortment of tables inside that can maybe fit 25 people? Once it hit 6pm it got slammed so definitely try to get there sooner rather than later if you want to sit down. If you sit towards the front of the restaurant, you will get a draft whenever someone opens the door which will be pretty often (this place seemed very popular w door dash etc). Will definitely come back here again, possibly Everytime I go to an event at Agganis?

Vicki M.

So glad this place got their own space out here - they used to be in the food court across the street . What an upgrade! And what a cute cool and cozy space inside! Very cute interior art on the counter wall depicting scenes from South Asia, and the brick wall with the benches and greenery with potted plants. They did a great job with the decor incorporating the Vietnamese culture and roots in here. Very nice! It's a long space that leads to a few tables at the far end. Seating for about 20-25 people. Banh Mi sandwiches were great we got chicken and pork plus a few extra for next days lunch. Yummy! Tasty, filling and fresh as always! Go here if you haven't already!

Phở Gà (Chicken Rice Noodle Soup)
Jay S.

I have had the pleasure of going here and I think Pho Viet's has some great Vietnamese food around the Boston area! Granted my experience is slightly limited because I have only been there once and did not order a lot of stuff, so if I have the chance to return, I would like to try this spot again. Phở Gà was probably the best I have had almost anywhere in the United States, and the fact that the chicken is hand-pulled makes the texture extra nice! The broth is very well-made which of course enhances the experience of eating any type of phở! I also had the vegetable & tofu egg fried rice. The rice was quite mediocre with no distinct flavor or seasoning, probably because the vegetables on top of the rice should be the main part of this dish, and it shows. The dish felt like vegetables placed on top of plain rice and that was it. The vegetables also lacked seasoning, which was unexpected. The stark contrast of these two dishes that I have had is leading me to give this place a 4 star. I think part of it might be because others don't really come here to order what I have ordered, the Rau Cải Xào Cơm (Vegetable & Tofu Egg Fried Rice), so maybe I will order something more in line with where their popularity lies next time.

Ham with rice rolls
Victoria C.

Pho Viets is one of my go to places for quality Vietnamese food. I've gotten everything from pho, banh mi, vermicelli bowls, and rice plates. Everything I've ordered has always been top notch and the portions are enough to share or keep for 2 meals. It's great that they've moved into their own place since they have a handful of small tables for indoor seating. The service is quick because everytime I've ordered online it's been ready to pickup by the time I get there. My most recent visit I decided to try out the Vietnamese ham and rice rolls. It comes with side of pickled carrots, cucumbers, and bean sprouts with fish sauce and spicy sauce. It's definitely best eaten when it's fresh when the rice noodles are soft, but still heats up well the next day. If you looking for a quick, affordable meal I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

I found this explanation misleading and frustrating. These items are an essential part of the dish, and customers should not have to know to request them separately if they are normally supposed to come with the meal. Not everyone is familiar with Vietnamese food, so customers who don't know what the dish is supposed to include may never realize that part of their order is missing. The restaurant should clearly indicate on the menu if certain ingredients are not included or require an additional request. Not knowing this the first time my husband and I visited Boston (in 2021), Dorchester has a large Vietnamese community (funny thing was we were staying at an Airbnb in this city and had no idea). But later on found out when my husband was looking where to eat for lunch. We ended up loving Ba Le Dorchester so much that we came twice during our visit to Boston. Upon these visits, we ended up ordering: Banh Da Lon, $4 prior to tax- I love these layer jello like cakes. This one has flavors of pandan and coconut. It also had the right amount of sweetness too, by not being too sweet. Banh Mi Dac Biet (Special Combination), $7.01 prior to tax- My husband ended up ordering this sandwich twice (on both of our visits). I am not a big banh mi person so I didn't have any but he really liked it. Banh Cuon, $7.95 prior to tax- Rice rolls are one of my favorite things. We ended up ordering 2 different versions of these (on 2 separate visits). One with the ground pork and mushroom filling that also included slices of Vietnamese pork sausage. But on our second visit, we got an order made with shrimp filling. Portion size is more than plenty for 2 people to share and both were cooked perfectly. Goi Cuon, $6.08 prior to tax- Spring rolls is another favorite Vietnamese dish of mine and so I decided to get these that were filled with shrimp. An order of this came with 3 spring rolls and a large side of peanut sauce. After seeing a baking sheet on the wall with Guy Fieri' face, I found out that Guy Fieri visited this eatery with his son for his show Diners Drive Ins and Dives, which aired on November 15, 2024 Service was friendly and quick on both visits. I love that you can grab some premade items before heading to the register but you can also order them to be made fresh at the register. There is a small seating area towards the opposite side of the register. There is also a clean single toilet, unisex, bathroom in this seating area as well. This eatery takes both credit card and cash as payment. Parking is just along the curb. If you aren't able to find parking, you might be able to park around the corner, where we parked the first time we came. Everything that we had was delicious and would come back here again if visiting Boston.

It's definitely one of those places where you can get a filling meal without spending a fortune. Now, is this the best pho in Boston? Definitely not. If you're looking for really good, authentic Vietnamese food, I'd personally recommend heading over to Dorchester, where there are plenty of Vietnamese restaurants that do pho better. The broth here is decent, but it doesn't quite have the same depth of flavor that I've come to appreciate from some of my favorite spots in Dorchester.
