I came in here for carryout to bring home for dinner, since I was in the area and needed to bring home dinner... The guy working the front was very friendly and nice. The menu is loaded with many Vietnamese delights, but I was only there for Pho, so I asked what broths they make and was surprised to learn they make beef, chicken, and vegetable broths for their Pho! Many places I visit only seem to make a beef, so I was happy to be able to enjoy chicken broth with my Phở gà. I told him to pack the order securely as I had a long drive home, but that clearly didn't happen. I didn't wait long for my order, maybe 10 minutes total and when I got it, it was in a tied plastic bag, which I carried out. I felt heat on the bottom and thought maybe one of the lids leaked, so when I looked at the lids, they were very poorly secured, which is an issue. They bought terrible, cheap, low-grade quart containers, which barely hold the lid. So I seatbelted the bag in my front seat and made it home fine. But when unpacking at home, I noticed the large round containers they put the main food in had lids that was sitting on top of the base, but didn't lock on at all - Again, cheap containers. They also had a nice assortment of accoutrement in that container, but everything was mixed together, both the cold and the hot - this is NOT appropriate. You should never pack cold and hot things in a single vessel when food is "to go." Even still, we separated everything and when it came time to eat, the noodles were so soft, they were melting. The broth was on the bland side, so I found myself adding Sriracha and salt for the first time ever to my Pho broth. The veggies were fresh though. The chicken looked and tasted good, but there were several odd, dark pieces in it that wasn't appetizing to come across. Overall - I really wanted to love this experience, especially since the smell inside that restaurant was great, but I feel it was slightly less than was it should have been. I'd say this was a 3.5 star visit, but will rate on the hi-end at 4 stars. Would I return? Not for Pho. read more

As we ate our dinner we all loved the food. My daughter even shared with the owner she thought they should get 100 stars. The broth was flavorful and the meat delicious. So I'm sure you're curious as to why after saying the food was good and the service was good why the rating is only 3 stars. I will tell you-cockroaches. After we finished our meal we saw one crawling on the wall behind one of our children. My husband killed it. I then as one naturally would started to be more observant of our surroundings. We saw another on the molding of the door to the kitchen. Then a whole group along with roach poop in the corner of the kitchen door and our children said they looked behind the corner couch/booth seating, many. I went from being elated to find such a great pho restaurant to feeling sick at the lack of cleanliness. If I had not seen that I would have given them 5 stars but the presence of not one but many cockroaches makes my skin crawl and I feel I have to share what was present as I would want to know, and wish I did know. I sincerely hope they get an exterminator in and improve their cleanliness but unfortunately we will not be back because of that. We are very Vietnamese-Food literate as a family. For three decades, we lived in an area that was nationally known for its Vietnamese cuisine and population. Since moving to Richmond, we have been skeptical of well reviewed Asian restaurants in general and Vietnamese in particular. Forgive me, but as a family, we have pretty high standards for Vietnamese food. It is with great pleasure that I report to you that Pho Vet has clearly met those standards. The Bun with pork was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and had a special smoky flavor that sets it apart from most others.The Pho broth was rich and flavorful and easily among the better ones we'd ever had. The Cha Gio was very good, though not quite as good as Pho Tay Do's. Still, we all greatly enjoyed it. I'm sure we will go back there many times over the coming years read more

This place is very good the meat is very clean but the broth is nothing short of amazing my mom is a Summer roll fan these are typically made with shrimp which we can't eat but luckily they offer a pork version it tasted very fresh however I have never been a fan of peanut sauce. Our bowls of pho came out in adequate time. Presentation was ok - I'm used to seeing more. Visuals ideally catches my eye first - sadly it was only its decor that was the most appealing part. Next aroma and taste both of which were lacking. What I did love is the accoutrements of the sprouts, basil, lime and in their case cilantro. This I did enjoy as often times I feel other Pho places over do it with overkill of the cilantro in the broth. The portion size was just right. Though I always want more noods but that's the pastaholic in me. Unfortunately, both my hubby and I agree the broth was needing flavor. Really had to doctor it up with hoisin, sriracha and chili oil. The meats were also screaming for some semblance of taste. I really had high hopes for this place given its rating.
