I recently decided to try this spot since I'm just starting to get into pho, and I was happy with my visit. The food came out extremely quickly, and we were seated right away, which I really appreciated. I ordered the number 8, and overall I enjoyed it. The only thing that threw me off a bit was the TVs in the restaurant playing political news the whole time. With the state of everything right now, it just felt like a vibe killer while trying to enjoy a meal. It's a small thing, but switching that up would make the atmosphere a lot more enjoyable in my personal opinion. That said, the food itself was solid, and I can see myself coming back for another visit.

Really authentic pho with a beautifully light, clean broth exactly how it should be. You can tell a lot of care goes into the flavor without it being overly heavy or greasy. The pho alone is worth coming back for. Tried the bún bò Huế as well which was a solid dish, but a bit too heavy on the spices for my personal taste, so I'd rate that a 4/5. Still well-prepared and hearty, just more intense than expected. Service was fast and efficient, and the food came out quickly. Overall, a great spot for authentic Vietnamese comfort food, especially if you love a lighter, well-balanced pho. Definitely recommend!

4/5 Food 4/5 Service 4/5 Space This space is special with unique menu items that you wouldn't normally find at an American Pho place like bone marrow.

The food was really good, and the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming. However, I do wish the TVs hadn't been playing political content during dinner. It made the atmosphere feel a bit uncomfortable and took away from what otherwise could have been a relaxing experience. With everything going on in the world, sometimes it's nice to have a space where you can just enjoy a meal without being reminded of the political climate.

This section of town is an enclave and there are several Vietnamese restaurants. I liked the look of the vegetarian (chay) options at this one. It was a very fast pace of service; I probably hadn't been in my seat five minutes before my order was taken, and this distinctively fresh cuisine doesn't take long to make either. My summer rolls were straightforward, but satisfying. More importantly, the grilled tofu over rice I got was mouthwatering dish. Not because of the tofu itself, which was a bit sweet in flavor and not huge in portion. No, the broken rice was incredibly aromatic and I savored it in combination with the tofu, vegetables, and the chili oil available at the table. I didn't get a huge portion for this being an edge of town kind of place.I was also a tad confused on whether I could pay with my cards or not, but ultimately I got good food of a sort that I wasn't sure I could find in Richmond.

I haven't been to this place in years. It has changed to Pho Thien Phat it was formally Pho So 1. Well, decided to give it a go. I always go in with open honest mind, and hope it still just a as good as the former. So I am a creative habit so I normally start with "Goi Cuon" fresh shrimp & pork roll. You get 2 of them, but couldn't resist in digging in. Lol I loved the pork, shrimp, lettuceand rice wrap, but their was to much rice noodle filling for my taste. Tried the main dish "Bun Tom Thit Nuong" Grilled pork & Shrimp on rice vermicelli with no peanut on mine. It wasn't to bad l, but the pork was a little bland. All in all it was good. I may come back if I am in the area, but knowing me I am going to try other places

Pho Thein Phat is a great place. Tucked away, it is an unassuming spot. But, if you know you know. While the other location is definitely better in my opinion, this is still a top 5 Vietnamese spot in RVA. Service is good as well. Good boba too!

This pho was so good . The broth was excellent. The amount of brisket and really all the meats they gave up was a lot . I will be back !

There is no shortage of Pho places in RVA, but this one is a steady fave of mine. Kinda hard to find off of the Horsepen area, you'll need to look behind Full Key to figure out where they are. With veggie options for pho, that's always a plus, as well as delicious bahn mi if you're not looking for a soup situation. Solid choice if you're craving a standard pho experience. The staff are kind, and mostly hands off with your experience unless you need something. The place is ideal for groups 5-6 max, and isn't very loud so good for conversation. Not the cleanest place imo, the bathroom wasn't my fave to use. Parking is easy, they have a lot in front.

I got the pho($13) with slices of eye round steak, well done flank, fat brisket, tendon, and tripe and Vietnamese iced coffee ($6). The broth was one of the better ones in Richmond. Savory with the right amount of saltiness. There was also a generous amount of meat in the soup which I was surprised about. I very much enjoyed the Pho. Vietnamese coffee was strong and sweet, a very typical but good drink to have. Overall one of the better pho places in RVA, the generous meat portion is a big plus and a reason to come back again. Food: 8.7 Staff/service: 7.0 Value: 8.5 Overall: 8.3/10

Many say Pho Tay Do or Pho 79 is better, but I don't know, I'm just reviewing on my experience here. Very satisfied with my bowl at Pho Thien Phat. Broth had the right amount of herbal punch to give me that euphoric Pho feeling. You can just tell from the first taste of the broth whether it's too light or just off in general. If Pho Tay Do or Pho 79 is better then I'm excited to try those as well because Pho Thien Phat was legit! And that's coming from someone who grew up in Falls Church, VA with Pho 75, Pho Sate, etc. You may be tempted by Richmond BBQ and burgers, but don't sleep on Richmond Pho!

I was craving Pho, so we scanned Yelp and decided to try someplace new. Set off Horesepen in the middle of a lot of restaurants. it's pretty easy to fund. We were great and seated right when we walked in. A server arrived at our table pretty quickly to take our order, I had questions, and she didn't speak any English, so she walked away and sent someone to our table. This server answered our questions, though it was pretty abrupt. I wanted a bubble tea, too, yet he walked away too fast for me to order. Orders came out very fast. Egg roll filling was very dry I was surprised. Pho was just noodles and tofu - no vegetables. Broth was pretty flavorless Pork chop was flavored nicely What we ate: Pho Chay- vegetable noodles soup with tofu Cha Goa- pork and shrimp egg rolls Com Thit Nuong- grilled pork chop on broken rice My rating rationale  +.5 Service +.5 Food~Taste/flavor/quality + 1 Presentation +.5 Atmosphere/vibe +1 Value

We stopped by here from lunch and the plsce is packed! This is a big restaurant though so there were still room for my friend and I. Orders got taken within 5 minutes and food came within 19 minutes of us sitting down. The broken rice and pork chop was delicious. I love how tender, soft and perfectly seasoned they are. Portions are big too. The summer roll is good, small rolls and meat are thin though! My friend couldn't stop eating the fried rice eventhough he was so full. We also got the rainbow desset and it is not sweet at all!

Just ok pho. The broth was decent, but the noodles are clumpy, and the brisket doesn't taste good. The search for great pho in RVA continues

Is the restaurant starting to go down in quality? I notice a foul smell the past few visits, like they don't properly clean.

The change in management has caused it all to go down.

I am not sure what went wrong, but it felt like my noodles weren't fully cooked and the broth wasn't hot enough to cook it all. The flavor of the broth was also a little too perfumy for me and a bit off. More people came as we dined so it took a while to get the check, but we accounted enough time and weren't worried.

Soup isn't a meal -- it's a thick beverage. Like a milkshake, but made of tomatoes and eaten while a grilled cheese sandwich watches in judgment. Pho is different. Pho isn't just a hunger suppressant -- it's an activity. Like dipping fries in ketchup or doing fondue. You get to cosplay as the chef while the restaurant acts as your sous chef. They gather the materials; you do the real work. Want lightly cooked tripe? Pull it out early. Want thoroughly cooked brisket? Let it soak. Want to eat an entire garden with your meat?
