Absolutely delicious . I get heat level 2 which really isn't spicy at all , very flavorful. The rice is always perfect for me and melts in my mouth instantly when i drizzle the broth over it. I absolutely love the food here and would eat here everyday if i can. I usually come upon opening or lunch and it's usually one person at the counter. You can sit anywhere in the restaurant as long as the seats are empty. The waiter takes your order upon the walk up unless you're in a group or dining i'm willing to review the menu. It's frustrating when you drive 45 minutes to pick up food from here and you ask the cashier, "is everything in here" and they tell you yes. You go home and you're missing items. Maybe I should have double-checked, but I thought their word would suffice. Placed a $50 order and I'm missing two orders of jasmine rice and an order of papaya salad. Tried calling to go back and pick it up, but the call goes to voicemail numerous times. We all love Thai food, and we all know how important the rice and papaya salad is. The folks they hire to wait tables and run the cash register are also wonderful-- one of them told me once that she worked there in college but came back to work some shifts after graduation just because she enjoyed it there so much. This is THE Thai place that I will only go to! Not because it's closest to my house, but everything on their menu has been delicious. My go-to dish is their Drunken Noodles (any protein) with flat noodles and medium/hot level spicy - depending on my type of mood. Just...perfection. My husband's go-to has been their curry and I try to get a small bowl of rice afterward for their broth. The appetizer dish that I would recommend is their curry dumplings. Whenever my husband and I finish the dish, we would often save the sauce to add over extra rice the next day or so. I hate that I always end up getting their drunken noodles and my husband is trying out all of their different curry dishes each time we order. The food has never failed us and they do have flavor and kick. I also enjoy the fact that they offer Gluten Free options! My friend has very bad allergy to Gluten Free so I'm glad that we are able to have a spot close to home to enjoy some happy hour and grub. Ordered Thai Top Ten for delivery and got their Pad Thai, Pad See Ew and an "Appetizers for 2" which included Spring Rolls, Fried Wontons, Shrimp Tempura, and Fried Dumplings. Starting with the appetizers, I'd say these are pretty standard fried appetizers which were nothing to rave about, but weren't bad either. For the entrees, the Pad Thai was good but was lacking a bit in terms of flavor. When I think of Pad Thai, its either a sweet version or savory version, and this was oddly in the middle for me. Again, not bad, but I would've preferred a stronger flavor profile with this one. The Pad See Ew, on the other hand, had stronger flavors and I thought this was the best dish out of the bunch for me. All in all, Richmond has quite a variety of Thai restaurants and Thai Top Ten happens to be one of them. A group of us from work orders food last night and had it delivered. I had the Pad See Ew and the Thai tea. Although it was a large portion, I did not really like the food. I've had plenty of Thai food before but this one did not taste right. The noodles were overdone, the broccoli was underdone and the usual taste/sauce for it just didn't taste like the normal kind you get with the dish. It tasted weird. Veggies are crisp and perfectly cooked. Spice levels can be adjusted to your taste but you are warned that if you select too hot, then it's too bad. We had medium and should have gone hotter. No matter; very tasty and filling. Sauces are good and soaked up by the rice. Only two or three persons work the seating area so you may be delayed getting your order in, but you will see them working really hard. Richmond has several really good Thai restaurant options. Out of the different Thai food places, Thai Top Ten is my go-to choice. My favorite dish here is the pad see ew. I like how you can really customize it by choosing between thin noodles and flat noodles, American broccoli or chinese broccoli (gai lan), and spicy levels from mild, medium, American hot, and Thai hot. The portions here are large, and lunch entrees are served with some fried chips and an eggroll. The servers were really nice and came back multiple times to refill water. They are nice about separate checks. The restaurant is decorated nicely, has a comfortable zen feeling, and is pretty spacious. The hours are a little weird and may be inconvenient because they close between 3-4 PM Monday through Friday and 3-5PM on Saturdays. There is only street parking available, but you have to pay for the meter on weekdays. Tickets are frequently given out on Grace Street, so pay the $1.25 per hour parking!! read more

Unexpectedly stumbled across Thai top 10 today and was pleasantly surprised with a vegetable spring roll little appetizer to start. Food was very good as well and I cleaned my plate empty. I'm not sure sure if I was just thirsty but the water also tasted extremely satisfying and really quenched my thirst. Delivering for Grubhub brought me into this Gem of a place. I walked in and noticed a gentleman obviously in need of some additional help/little extra loving enjoying a bowl of soup. Went to lunch there with a large party during the week. With it being in the heart of VCU's Monroe Park Campus, it seems to be a popular lunch spot. So I was surprised that only 1 waitress was working the floor. But she was able to handle our large party, the other large party that came in after us and everyone else in the between. For my lunch, I chose the fresh rolls and Drunken Noodles (or Noodles of the Drunken as it is printed on the menu). When asked for the spice level I wanted, I timidly said "medium" since it was my first visit here (and after seeing the sign on the wall). My Thai fresh rolls were crunchy and delicious. I liked my Drunken Noodles, too. Medium spicy was the right way to go, too. Some heat that still allowed me to enjoy the flavors of the sauce and basil. In all, I like this place. Did an online order of the pad see ew with tofu. Food was ready at the expected but, but it was not good at all. The menu says it should have eggs but there were no eggs. It was just noodles, broccoli, and tofu. The sauce was also not flavorful and the noodles were extremely oily. Portion sizes, as mentioned in other reviews, are incredibly generous and could last most people 2 meals ( not me doe ). Got food here to-go a couple days ago with my friend and sister and it was not the best experience, to say the least. Mind you, I had had Thai Top Ten plenty of times in the past and I really liked it and never had any issues but OH BOY. I usually always get a noodle dish - either pad Thai or pad see ew - but I was kind of sick of noodles and wanted to try something different so I ordered the massaman curry. Usually I love curry, especially massaman curry, but I was not impressed by this one. I don't know why exactly, but I just didn't like it. It was just eh. My sister ordered pad see ew and I sampled some of hers since I didn't really enjoy my curry. The pad see ew had good flavor but it was pretty greasy, which was a bit offputting. That being said, it wasn't me or my sister, but rather my friend who had the worst experience that night with Thai Top Ten. First, her order got mixed up. Instead of mild, she ended up with medium spice. If you didn't know, Thai spice levels are extremely spicy. Consequently, as she was eating her food, she sounded like she was in pain. Because her food was so spicy, she had to chug ALL of her Thai tea. Once she had finished her tea she found a little black speck in her cup. Surely enough, it was a bug that had been frozen into one of the ice cubes. ...I feel like the universe was just out to get her at this point. We know one of the employees here and she actually told her boss about what happened so he offered a free Thai tea to replace my friend's, but since we got our food to-go it wasn't really worth it to return just for that. I often try not to write bad reviews unless warranted. Thai Top Ten is the worst Thai restaurant I have ever tried. Hungry at work and late, I opted to order thai since my coworkers never tried it before. I wasn't looking for the most authentic but just something tasty. My coworkers had no expectations but regretfully, I should've I ordered somewhere else... their first experience with thai food was horrible. My order consisted of panang curry, chicken satay, papaya salad and pad thai. First, as you can see in my pictures, the sauce for the panang curry is broken. The broth curdled and the solid pieces floating throughout made the dish completely unappetizing. There was very little protein as well; I asked for chicken. Overall this dish is the main reason for my 1 star rating. Clearly this dish was not made correctly and should have never been served. The chicken satay looked like it was sitting out for hours. When I opened the foil, it was lined with grease.... but then....the actual chicken on the skewer is dry. How that is possible... I do not know. Again, you can see it in the pictures below. If that wasn't enough, the sauce that paired with the chicken had a thick layer of grease too! The pad thai was "ok." Not the best but not the worst either. Decent noodles but nothing to praise. I still wouldn't order it. Overall, I would NOT go back and I would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone. I'm still very bothered by the lack of quality control with the dishes. Richmond is filled with great locally owned restaurants. This is NOT one of them. How can anyone, the chef and owners especially, stand behind and be proud of dishes like these? I hope something changes because the apathy and lack of quality is unfair to customers. read more

The latest update on my continuing quest to find excellent Thai food landed me at Thai Top Ten. As I have said before, I am not 100% sure what good Thai food is supposed to taste like! It seems like each restaurant has a slightly different take on flavors, and some can be radically different. I guess you sort of base it on whatever your first experience was, and then assume that everyone else got it wrong. This Thai restaurant was spot on with the flavors that I expected. It is sort of a hole in the wall on Grace Street, but it seems like most Thai restaurants are, and the attitude of the wait staff is outstanding. The portions are enormous and even a large guy like myself ended up getting a box to take some home. Be careful with the spices, as they can jack it up pretty high if you're not careful. I am a big fan of the pad see ew, and this place did it just right. Pricing is about what you would expect, and a lunch special runs just under $10 with a drink. Again, the service was quick, the food was good, and the price was right. Parking can be a bit of a challenge in that area, but if you're just making a quick hit for lunch or carrying out, I would recommend it. Only thing I would criticize is they could stand a good cleaning! read more

This place checks off all the boxes when I'm looking for some thai food to satisfy the craving, but overall, nothing about the dining experience is out of this world. Came here on a late Wednesday night and the restaurant was pretty empty- parking was also easy to find on Grace St (no time limit or fee because it was after the specified time). The guy at the desk all the way in the back of the restaurant told us to sit wherever we liked, and he was able to get us menus and take our orders in a very timely fashion even though he appeared to be the only server there. I got the Lemon grass noodle soup with medium spice. The broth is pretty typical Tom yum type broth, and the noodles were one giant clump that was hard to separate. It definitely wasn't super memorable, but it hit the spot with the weather being so cold. Service was quick and efficient through our night, and I'd say prices are fair for serving sizes and so on. We did have to walk up to the counter on our own at the end to pay, they didn't give us a check or anything so maybe don't wait around for the server if you're done with your meal! read more

Tried Elephant Thai's food, particularly the beef drunken noodles, and you can just tell that they are cooked in slightly different ways. The beef drunken noodles from Thai Top Ten are much less greasier and they taste very good. Additionally, the delivery wait wasn't even that long. If you are a college student on a budget and want some decent Thai food, Thai Top Ten is for you. It located in the heart of VCU and deliver almost to anywhere on campus. They also have dine in option as well. The interior is clean and no fuss. The price is decent and the portion you get is far more than any of the other Thai restaurants would give you. I usually ordered two dishes at a time to meet the minimum delivery amount and the food always last me 2-3 days. Your money will go a long way here. The food is Ok, not terrible, not great, just okay. Some are hit and miss. I'm not a fan of their Pad Thai or drunken noddle. I agree with other reviewers that they need to step up their seasonings. They taste very bland. However, I am a fan of their Pad See Ew and Fried Rice (both curry and pineapple). That in American Hot is my standard delivery order. They didn't miss the seasoning there. I like hot food. I can eat 3 chilli peppers with a glass of water. I regularly eat a whole raw jalapeno with pho. My current fave hot sauce is Melinda's XXX or Savina which are both haberno hot sauces and I use about tablespoon worth with appropriate food. Warning aside, their American hot is hotter than the above. Don't even dare try the Thai hot. They heat up things with some fresh minced pepper mix of I think habanero and chili pepper. I drank 3 glasses of water. The curry definitely isn't to par with the coconut milk breaking. How you break coconut milk is beyond me. Though the fried rice was very good, otherwise 3 stars. DO NOT EAT HERE!!! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. We use to come here all the time but I will NEVER EVER COME BACK AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!! We ordered take out from here on 3/10/21 and I got the panaang curry and my boyfriend got the seafood fried rice with muscles. I had only three bites of my food when I came across a THICK BLACK CURLY HAIR!!! It was about the length on my index finger, and noticeably human. Immediately I was grossed out and couldn't finish my food, but my boyfriend said he would eat the rest. He also found multiple of the same hair in his food, and more in mines. In total, we found almost 10 pieces of hair in both of our meals. We called the restaurant and we were put through to the owner. He is the most pathetic miserable business owner I have ever come across. After we explained what we found in our meals, he said "haha very funny. There's no way hair can be found in both the meals, your lying and just want your money back" he then tried to provoke us over the phone but when we stayed calm he became more agitated and spouting racial slurs and saying we don't know what we're talking about and the hair most likely came from the muscles. But I only had chicken. And this was clearly human hair. The owner was non apologetic or sympathetic about the situation and he was looking for a fight. Over something that his restaurant staff caused. This restaurant is filthy with a cook who is obviously balding owned by a pathetic looser who doesn't care about his customers and tries to antagonize them when they have a complaint. I've never been talked to like that by someone who's in the food business. He was non apologetic whatscover and had no care being for what we were eating.
