Basement restaurant need to take stairs down no elevator

A recent addition to the RVA food options, in Downtown. Take a flight of stars to the basement restaurant. Lots of cute decor and a full bar. Host/ Server was so super nice. We came for a late lunch. There is a lunch menu with smaller portions ranging from $13-$18 My go-to Pad Z Ew with tofu was good. I've had better and I'm kinda a snob when it comes to this noodle. The broccoli was crunchy and cooked well. The noodles a bit too soggy for my taste. There was a fair amount of fried tofu. The spice level was 2 and it was a "sprinkle"of chili peppers. The chicken satay came with 4 very thin pieces of chicken breast. Tip- unsweetened ice tea in a small glass is $3 each and no refills. They will charge you another $3 if you ask for another glass. The very nice server did not tell us.

Came on February 13 and thankfully they had spots! This place sees relatively new too. Loved the decor and vibes they had here. They even let us take some of their Valentine's Day balloons! The food was super good, even though the wait time for the food was long (they did warn us about it in advance). They seemed to have a nice selection of drinks too, which I wish I could have tried. I do think they're legit with their spice levels, although my food wasn't as spicy as I wanted for 4/5 level. Probably hard for my dish to consume as much spice. Staff were friendly and kind. Such a nice Thai spot in Richmond.

Kin-D, a Thai restaurant, opened a few months ago in the Shockoe Slip. I hosted an event recently with 10 people and the service was excellent! Tammy, the manager, was easy to work with in terms of getting the reservation and logistics sorted ahead of time. We had our own section/room to ourselves. Throughout dinner our server, Antony, was attentive and handled our (admittedly rowdy) group so well. Their happy hour deals are great! It's every day from 5-7pm and includes a variety of starters and drinks. We tried a ton of their drinks, appetizers, entrees, and desserts - it was all delicious. I will say they seem to be quite heavy handed with spice so I'd be cautious picking any dishes with the chili indicator if you don't have a tolerance. Our server mentioned that my dish was level 2 spice at the lowest by default, which I thought I could handle but I was soo wrong. Street parking can be limited but there is a garage nearby. Lastly, I love the meaning behind their name. They say in Thai 'kin' means 'to eat' and 'dee' means 'well', and it's also 'kind' in English, so their name expresses their philosophy to eat well and live kindly.

Went here for dinner with friends and had such a good time! The interior decor is so gorgeous. Their Thai tea is a must! The staff were so friendly and everyone loved what they ordered. Definitely check out this restaurant if you're in the area.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while in RVA. Catie @ the bar took care of me! She steered me towards some yummy cocktails and lunch. Even convinced me to try the mango cheesecake. Not wrong, delicious!

Food and service was great. I would definitely come back here. We ordered a thai tea, wontons, fried rice, tom yum, and cheesecake. All very good and reasonably priced.

I was like Wow! Once I entered inside the restaurant. It felt like I was in an art gallery that's showing Thailand's story. The food was incredible, especially the authentic taste of Tom Yum hotpot soup that I couldn't find this taste in any other places in the states. The shrimp donuts were delicious- crispy, juicy and flavorful in the same time. The clay pot mixed was.. O-M-G!!! Don't forget the Mango Sticky Rice at the end to complete your Thai meal. Katy was a lovely server as she was providing a great service to us. Me and my family loved this place and it will be the Thai restaurant that we will always go to when we're craving for Thai food.

I tried the Drunken Noodle Chicken and the Massamun Curry Chicken and both were phenomenal. The noodles had the perfect texture, and the Massamun curry was unbelievably creamy. I also have to rave about the Chicken Satay. Easily the best I've ever had, and that peanut sauce? Pure perfection. Beyond the food, the decor is absolutely mesmerizing. Such a great ambiance to enjoy a meal. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

Parking is available on the side, or you can usually find street parking nearby. I really liked the industrial atmosphere, especially the swings, but we ended up sitting closer to the bar area. Our server was super nice, and the service was quick throughout the meal. FOOD REVIEW Sabai Platter - 3/5 Not bad for shareable during happy hour, but some of the items were just okay. Pad Thai - 4/5 The flavors and spice level were balanced really well. Pla Muk Tod (Calamari) - 4/5 Good overall, but I wasn't a big fan of the dipping sauce. Pik Gai Tod (Wings) - 4/5 Flavorful and really good. Moo Sam Chan (Fried Pork Belly) - 4/5 Tasty and flavorful, though a little over-sauced for my preference. DRINK REVIEW Thai Tea - 5/5 Refreshing and enjoyable. Thai Mojito - 5/5 Really good and refreshing as well. Overall, good food, great drinks, and friendly service.

We had to chase down waiters to order anything, everything didn't come out the same time, and zero hospitality. Fast forward now to last week. A group of 9 of us come in for our wedding weekend and they thought we had 8 people not 9. They try to seat us on the swinging seats which can't even fit our 8 people. NOT ONCE did they try to help us, move us, offer to do ANYTHING. They literally stared at us not saying a word. We asked if we could have two tables, no. Have a stool to add, no. Wait for a larger table outside, no. Just absolutely the worst hospitality or lack there of I have ever had. This place has had issues with staff for years. Unfortunately it's now costing them consistent customers as we are not the only ones this has happened to. We ended up leaving and going to another Thai restaurant. If you want to be ignored and stared at with dead fish eyes this is the place for you.

My waitress Kat was very nice and helpful, even patient with me since it was my first time. I already had in mind what I wanted to order, but she was eager to jump in and help me with recommendations if I needed it. I started with some chicken gyoza which was really good and the tangy sauce was very flavorful. Not even 3 minutes after receiving it, I got my main entree which was the scallion chicken and fried rice which was absolutely incredible! The sauce was very sweet with a bit of spice thanks to the peppers in the veggie mix. I heard that this place is known for its ramen so I'll definitely return to try that!

My brother ordered the spicy Soba Noodles and really enjoyed them--the noodles had a nice, chewy texture. My mother chose the Indonesian Ramen and loved the strong basil and lemongrass flavors. She added chicken to her ramen, but unfortunately, it seemed either overcooked or processed. However, the staff handled the issue well and removed it from our bill, which we truly appreciated. Overall, we had a great family dining experience and would definitely return!
