Just amazing. The "make me cry" style hits every time. The Chinese eggplant dish is great! Just specify vegetarian sauce

I ordered the Beef Salad Special(Nam Tok) with medium spice ($14) and the Hoy Jaw($11). The Hoy Jaw was disappointing as portion was quite small and the tofu shell wasn't as super crispy as other places. The filling was good but not the best I've had. The Beef salad sauce was quite savory, spicy, and sour! It could've used more lettuce for sure, but the beef and sauce was quite enjoyable. Service was good. Overall a decent Thai spot, food was good but not anything mind blowing. Food(50%): 7.1 Staff/service(25%): 7.0 Value(25%): 6.0 Overall: 6.8/10

A coworker recommended me this place quite a while ago and finally had the chance to go. I had the Basil Fried Rice with Beef, mild to medium hot, and it was delicious! My friends got Pad Thai and Ginger Fried Rice with Chicken. Both also tasted great! Would definitely go back again!

Came here for a weeknight meal with three of us, we were seated quickly and the service was generally quick and unfussy, although not overly attentive. The food was delicious! We asked to make all our items vegetarian (no fish sauce, etc.) and were kindly accommodated. The Pad Thai was super tasty and full of flavor - I don't love Pad Thai and still enjoyed it. The Drunken Noodles and Red Curry were both very good, spiced just right, and portions were huge - I found myself wanting to eat more even though I was full after finishing about half the entree. However, the one disappointment was the iced coffee - I generally love Thai iced coffee but this one was super thin, watery, and too bitter. Would absolutely come here again for the food but not for the drinks!

We landed here for lunch. Got a Thai beef salad to start. Not impressed. We asked for it mild but there was no spice at all. The beef looked like it was boiled and not grilled or stir fried. Flavor was good. Our entree was tilapia with garlic sauce and panang chicken. Both entrees were very sweet. Panang chicken came with peppers and zucchini. Tilapia came with broccoli, onions, and mushrooms. I think it was a bit overpriced. The service was very nice. The place was small but nicely decorated. There's only one restroom in the restaurant.

Ginger Thai is a Richmond institution and for good reason! The food is excellent and the one-woman front of house staff is the hardest working person I've ever seen. My most recent visit to this restaurant was around 7:00 on a Saturday evening. Carytown was crowded so we knew not making a dinner reservation anywhere was a gamble. We waited about ten minutes to be seated before getting a nice corner spot by the window. It's a tiny restaurant, maybe 30 seats, and definitely what you'd describe as a cozy hole in the wall. The decor is minimal but cheerful and the menus are old and worn with stickers marking updated prices. The owner does everything but cook all on her own: seat diners, answer phones, bus tables, take orders, ring up takeout, and serve food. It's amazing to watch. Despite being run off her feet she is still pleasant and welcoming, knows regulars' orders by heart, and service was very fast! The best part: the food. The fried rice, curry, and noodle dishes in particular are terrific. This time I got the Pineapple Fried Rice with chicken and my partner had Pad Thai. They both were delicious and very generous portions; we had enough for lunch the next day. The quality of the chicken is much better than some other popular Thai restaurants around town, and the spice is flavorful and potent. You can customize spice to Mild, Medium, Hot, Thai Hot, or Make Me Cry. Believe me when I say medium has a good kick, so watch yourself if you are brave enough for hotter!

Love this place. I am OBSESSED with their basil fried rice. Keep having to come back to get it bc it'll be on my mind and I just *have* to have it. Also the staff are lovely! Service is fast. It's quaint and cozy.

As usual we went to our favorite Thai place to introduce a friend to some great fresh food. She initially was a little skeptical able trying Thai food, but with some encouragement she tried it and loved it. She order the vegetable spring rolls to go and shared some of our food as you get enough to share.

Price was great! I don't think you're able to find fair pricing like this restaurant. -.5for cleanliness overall but not bad. The pad Thai was extremely sweet- almost too sweet like it's been dripped in sugar coat (-.5). Which for that I'm not entirely a fan of. The portion is small as well but definitely enough for me to eat. I really like the Tum Yum noodle soup-~ they used like Pho noodles and the flavoring was perfect. I can tell they didn't put too much msg or artificial stuff so would get it again when I'm back in town. Cute little spot and assuming this is owner operated. Parking an either on the street or the plaza across the street.

A-must-visit for anyone looking for authentic and delicious Thai cuisine. From the moment you walk in an inviting atmosphere. The decor is modern and sleek, with comfortable seating and beautiful artwork adorning the walls. The menu offers a wide variety of options, each dish bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. The Pad Thai was a standout dish, perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and tanginess. The Mango Sticky Rice was also a highlight, the perfect combination of sweet and savory. The portions were generous, and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, Ginger Thai Taste is an excellent choice for a flavorful and satisfying meal in a welcoming and comfortable setting. Whether you're a Thai food enthusiast or trying it for the first time, this restaurant is sure to exceed your expectations.

This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Richmond, however I've been slightly disappointed the last few times I've been here. I have a feeling that they have a new chef because the taste of my favorite dish has significantly changed. I can definitely tell the difference in the taste and even the way the vegetables are cut is different. It definitely doesn't taste the same lately and I've very disappointed about that. Anyway, I ordered my usual, which is the Pad See Ew, I get that with the chicken, beef and shrimp combo. It's usually so good that I always want a plate to go, now it taste different and average to me. The portions are always satisfactory though but you'd expect that for the pricing. I always get the Thai ice tea and that's so good. We ordered the calamari for the appetizer. They were so incredibly crispy and borderline not edible. My bf ate them cause I couldn't and he didn't want to send them back. As usual, the service is good. I always have a great experience here. The ambiance is always chill and it's a great little spot. Very sad about all my favorite small businesses quality decreasing as of late.

Ginger Thai Taste Ratings: 4.2/5 Food: 4.5/5 - We came here for dinner before heading to TopGolf, and it was delicious. This is a top-notch Thai restaurant, and I loved all their dishes here. Also, I love how they gave grounded peanuts to all of our dishes, and I can eat peanuts with almost anything, so kudos to them. You need to come and try this place! Please see the descriptions below of the food we ordered. - Satay Chicken [GET]: Best satay chicken I have tried in Richmond. The grilled marinated strips of chicken were so tender and juicy, literally falling off of the skewers. It is nicely seasoned and grilled to perfection. It is served with delicious satay peanut sauce on the side. - Pad See Ew [GET]: I got the medium spicy, and it was not that spicy at all. The flat rice noodles are soft, al dente, and got a nice bouncy texture to it. The chicken is tender, great size, and well-seasoned. It's stir fried with eggs, broccoli, and carrots in a sweet and savory sauce, definitely more flavorful than the Drunken noodles. This one tasted significantly better than my boyfriend's. I am glad that the noodles are not heavy at all, unlike other places might stir fry it in lots of oil, instead it's light and tasty. - Drunken Noodles [GET]: My boyfriend got this dish. The flat rice noodles got the same texture and chew like mine described above for Pad See Ew. It's stir fried with basil, peppers, celery and onion in their savory sauce. Vegetables are fresh and nicely cooked. The downside is the Drunken noodles are not as flavorful, more on the bland side. The pork was just okay, would recommend other proteins if possible. - Bangkok Chicken [GET]: This chicken is packed with spices, flavors, and spiciness, insanely flavorful and everything you can ask for in a chicken dish. The chicken is wonderfully battered and fried perfectly before mixing it in their signature spicy hot sauce. It is tender and meaty, fresh and high quality. It is packed with veggies too, tons of mushroom, carrots, green beans, and red bell peppers. Just watch out the in the bathroom the next day, because it's super spicy. - Pad Thai Wunsen w/ Jumbo Shrimp [GET]: It comes with clear bean thread noodles stir fried and mixed with vegetables and jumbo shrimps. The shrimps were fresh and tender. The noodles are those thin rice noodles, so didn't have a chew compared to the soft and rice noodles, but it still absorb the sauce quite welll. The sauce is on the sweeter side, so I wasn't a big fan, and my sister thought it the same as well. Ambiance: 4/5 - Located in Carytown. It got a mom-and-pop shop type of vibe. The interior looks a lot like other Thai places in RVA, and there's tons of seating available. It is a bit dark and not the fanciest looking, but we can tell it's the food that shines. There's an outdoor patio too. Decent spot for a casual dinner if you're strolling in the area or want a meal with friends. Price: 4.25/5 - We got an appetizer to share for $9.95. My boyfriend and I got the Pad See Ew and Drunken noodles for $16.95 each, and siblings for the Bangkok chicken and pad thai wunsen was $18.95 each. The total for 4 entrees and an appetizers came up to be $106 after tax. I'll give it a WORTH it for Thai food in Richmond, super tasty and portions are huge. Service: 4/5 - The service here is a bit slow, because there's only one server, but it didn't affect our experience. We came here for dinner during the weekday, and it was pretty busy. Our server was kind and lovely, and she reminds me of my grandma; she's attentive and know how to take great care of us despite she how many other tables she had to watch too. The food came out fast and hot, definitely made fresh to order. BLUF: I am obsessed with this authentic Thai restaurants in Richmond. Serves high quality ingredients, tasty dishes, and great service all at a reasonable price. It is a hidden gem in Carytown, and do not let the small storefront scare you away. Take some time and try my favorite Pad See Ew and Satay Chicken at Ginger Thai Taste in Carytown. It will be worth.

I called the restaurant to resolve the issue, and the floor manager said someone from management or accounting would follow up. Over a week later, I never received a call.
