I found this place on Yelp after an appointment out of my neighborhood. I downloaded the app and had no problems putting in a mobile order. The app was accurate with times and easy to use. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it was a warm inviting space. The staff was quick to help me and my food was HOT! How was the Thai? Amazing! Some of the best I've had in Richmond. The Green Curry? Perfect medium spice, strong lemongrass and curry flavors and great ratio of meat to veggies AND coconut milk to oil. Not overly oily has been hard to find in Richmond! The Pad See Ew was delicious! I came to this spot for lunch. When I walked in there was only 1 other table there. The space is intimate with 7 tables and a small bar. I ordered the fresh spring rolls and the lunch red curry, with a Dr Pepper to drink. The sodas are cans so no refills. The fresh spring rolls were very good and more filled than other places I've been to, the peanut sauce is a bit different than I'm used to but it was fine. The red curry was good also. The only thing I would recommend is better chop sticks- they have those cheap wood ones and it gave me a splinter. Other than that, I'd go back. read more

We decided to give this place another try since we heard it was now under new management. We ordered for takeout: - papaya salad: this was pretty average and taste as expected. We miss the papaya salad from the previous owner! - Duck ka pao: the duck was tender and had good flavor, kind of pricey though. - Khao soi: this was a bit salty and underwhelming. This was a great find for takeout Thai food and we were pleasantly surprised. The place was small and cute and customer service was great, and even though we had arrived before the takeout time they immediately started preparing our order. The food was delicious and had an authentic taste. We ordered a takeout of the green curry, pineapple fried rice and the shrimp wonton appetizer. Loved the curry n fried rice a lot. Terrible customer service today. Very disappointing considering the food usually is very good. Was treated poorly and food was 35 minutes late after it said it was ready. When I got there I was told it would only be a couple more minutes. I asked for a discount since I left a generous tip when I ordered and was just hoping to get that back. I have to admit, I was very intrigued by this restaurant at first. I've never seen a restaurant serve both Thai food AND British food. I don't live in Richmond, but I was in the area and decided to get lunch. This was one of the best reviewed restaurants close by so I figured I'd give it a try! The restaurant is relatively small, with maybe 6 tables inside. It seems like they do mostly to go orders. Though the restaurant is small, it was decorated very nicely and was also very clean. We talked to one of the owners and he explained that he is from England and his wife, the chef, is from Thailand. Now onto the food! I ordered the chicken pad thai and my friend ordered the fish and chips. My friend really enjoyed the fish and chips! It was a great portion as well. The chicken pad thai was incredibly flavorful and a BIG portion! I wish there was a little more spice to it, but that's just a personal preference. The staff was very welcoming and provides fast and great service. The restaurant has a quiet ambiance and have the latest pop songs playing in the background as well. This restaurant is such a hole-in-the wall spot with great and flavorful food, it felt like a homecooked meal. The wife is Thai and the husband is British so they have both foods! The Thai food was alright. They really take their spice seriously, even level 2 had a good kick. The fish and chips was good. I liked having both a curry sauce and tartar sauce. We ordered online and went to pick it up at the designated time but had to wait an additional 15 minutes.. Finally found this gem after reading about it on Facebook. It is the cutest, cozy little place. It would make a great first date place. The owner waited on us and was very informative. The two kids were happy with the kids menu. I had the drunken chicken and took half home. I did have to add a bit more spice but I like spicy. Just got back from backpacking through Thailand (Chiang Rai all the way down to Koh Tao) and I can honestly say this is some of the best Thai food I've had in the states. The tom yum was my favorite tonight, but the khao soi was phenomenal as well. They were very accommodating being that I'm vegetarian, and were happy to adjust the soup for me to add vegetables and tofu and take out the chicken. Now I need to try the larb and papaya salad! Let me tell you this you need to go here and experience this restaurant not only is the husband British, and the most delightful person you've ever met, but his wife is Thai and makes delicious Thai food. It was delicious and it's been probably over a year since we've been there tonight we popped in and after working a Saturday and here's my second review they are delicious and I cannot wait to go back and do breakfast... Tonight we had the sausage roll which is probably the best damn sausage roll I've ever had for 6.99... we did that for appetizer then we ordered. I got the fish(Haddock )& chips and my friend got the bangers and mash (with peas) apparently you have to ask for the peas. It is more traditional..... the wife was on vacation to visit her family and the husband who is British was serving only British food... Well, I am so glad we stopped tonight. It was great.! Thai Won On is a hidden gem within the eateries in the Richmond area. After being introduced to the establishment by a close friend I got to enjoy sharing this place with a small group of people this past Thursday evening. Jonathan was his usual kind, welcoming and English self when my ragtag group of friends arrived at our predetermined time. Drinks were quickly offered along with a couple of hot tea pots. While we chatted we were allowed to relax and enjoy. As dinner arrived everyone commented on how good everything looked and it continued as they enjoyed their drunken noodles, fish and chips, bangers and Mash, red curry with chicken and various other plates. The comments were all positive and multiple members of the party stated this location would be added to their list of favorites. That they would be back sooner than later. Joy, the wonderful Thai chef, stepped out long enough for all of us to thank her personally for the wonderful food that she had provided us. Cute little restaurant with interesting cuisine combinations of Thai & English. Service was nice & friendly, considering we were one of two tables eating at 2p. We got a plate from each menu, chicken pad see ew and haddock fish/chips. The pad see ew lacked the sweet/salty sauce. It was a weak, runny & mild flavored sauce. The noodles were also just tossed and not sautéed with heat/fire wok flavors like many Asian restaurants. It wasn't bad but just not authentic. The fried haddock & chips were also average, fish is on the greasy side but tasted fine with a smattering of tartar sauce. Chips definitely needed some sauce as it was bland, and the curry was also watered down, lacking taste. I learned about Thai Won On when they were a food truck. The truck was parked outside of my real estate brokerage office on a night I was working very late and very hungry. It was as if the food Gods answered my call. I went up to the window, and the owner said they were not open yet but could throw on some spring rolls and Pad Thai for me. Minutes later, I was enjoying freshly made Thai food that they had made just for me. I was hooked and continued to visit the truck at various locations. Now, a brick and mortar restaurant, that same loving customer service remains, only, I think the food got even better. My children and I visited on a cold evening and decided to dine in. The food came quickly, although the owner explained they were still working out the kinks of being brand new restaurant owners balancing a ton of customers calling in for takeout. We started with the crab wontons - so good I'm still thinking of them. Perfectly fried and amazing flavor. The chicken dumplings were also good. However I'd say the crab wontons were my favorite so I'll get a double order next time. For dinner, we shared red curry with chicken and shrimp pad thai. Both were so flavorful, fresh, you could tell were cooked with love (the chef is the co-owner and wife). Comfort food at its finest. The pad thai was so tasty I forgot to take a photo of it but that was the dish I enjoyed most. Although the heat and coconut cream based curry was perfect for a cold evening meal. The owner chatted with us and made us feel at home. It was a nice night in an environment that was welcoming. It's so nice to see family businesses grow.
