P7. Veggie pho. B1. Bun cha Hà Nội.
    John D.

Spring rolls came out after pho and bun. Crispy and piping hot fresh. Veggie pho came with assortment of veggies with deep fried tofu. Drizzle of sesame oil was a nice touch. Bun cha Hà Nội was interesting. First time having it. Noodles and greens were on the side. Deconstructed. Would come back for the veggie pho.

3.5/10, everything tasted good but not amazing. It is very expensive and although the menu is extensive with many choices, the pho pairings are limited. I wanted rare beef and beef balls but the only option was to add an extra 3$ or get the special pho but I didn't want all the extra stuff. The spring rolls were crispy but wasn't phenomenal as mentioned. If you're looking for a quick bite and pho fix this will do! Service was decent

Just got back from Vietnam when I tried this place. Don't hate me, but I was on the look out for that authentic pho taste I had back in Hanoi. I ordered the P12 which was the special rice noodle. It was quite tasty and the broth was pretty rich. The best part were the condiments (they have fresh chilies and preserved garlic slices) which made the pho even more tasty! I ordered spring rolls as well, and this dropped the rating a bit. The shell of the spring roll is a bit hard versus the crispier version you might be use to at other pho places. I will come back to try their hanoi's style rare beef noodles, cause this was what I was looking forward to trying, but decided to play it safe and order what I usually order which is a house special noodles. lol

    New location. It's really big!

They've lost their hole-in-the-wall status! The restaurant is still great though. But it's bigger, and you can now take your friends that care more about decor than food there, and not be embarrassed! Hey, we all know people like that, let's not kid around... Anyhoo, the restaurant is quite nice inside now, not dissimilar to I Love Pho in Mississauga. And instead of the 4 small tables they had before, there's now like a dozen, so they're better for groups now. As such, they now offer hot pots, which are a Vietnamese staple. I haven't tried them yet, but they look good. What about the Chao Long (grilled offals and sausage congee)? That favourite is still just like I remember. It's worth coming here just to get that. You can also just have the offals and sausage alone, and eat them with herbs and vermicelli. Either way, you'll be very satisfied. Pho is still the best, too. What about the bad? There's nothing bad really, but the new location is in the middle of nowhere, in some kinda big office building. It's not really where you'd expect to find a restaurant. It was packed when we came though, so I guess people didn't mind trekking there to get some quality eats.

This is a northern Vietnamese restaurant! I've never been to one before. So this is a first for me. Right off the bat, I noticed that there were many unfamiliar dishes listed on their menu so I decided to go for Hanoi style rare beef noodle (pho tai bac). I received my bowl with ginger on top and thought that it was really strange since I've never eaten pho with ginger before. Pho Tai Bac 4/5 ($9) The simple soup broth was good, had good flavours and with the added ginger, it was perfect for the cold weather. I personally love ginger but my partner did not. He found that the ginger was too overpowering. The rare beef was good but nothing out of the ordinary. This bowl provided me with extra warmth for the wintery season and perhaps even a boost in my immune system thanks to the ginger in the Hanoi style pho! I will be back to try other dishes! (Northern Pho is on the taste of its clear and simple broth, whereas Southern is slightly sweeter and bolder!)

Pho Son is a Vietnamese restaurant located in a small strip plaza on the northeast corner of St.Clair Ave W and Runnymede Ave that specializes in Northern Vietnamese food. Vietnamese cuisine is divided into three different regions which is North Vietnam, Central Vietnam (Hue) and South Vietnam. Each region offers different dishes. I have been to Pho Son a few times and this time I decided to order bun cha hanoi ($11.50 plus tax) which is essentially grilled pork/pork patties served in fish sauce with vermicelli and fresh herbs. This is the iconic dish Barack Obama ate with Anthony Bourdain on the tv show "No Reservations" when he visited Hanoi Vietnam. The dish was really good, the pork had a nice grilled char, perfectly seasoned and so flavourful along with the fish sauce. Pho Son probably does one of the best bun cha hanoi's in the city of Toronto. What makes Pho Son really unique in Toronto is that they offer a lot of the special Northern Vietnamese dishes that most Vietnamese restaurants don't offer like long doi (grilled Vietnamese sausage made with intestines) and chao long (Vietnamese congee with pork organs). These dishes aren't for everybody but in Vietnam they made dishes with what was available to them. I have also tried the pho here, both the pho dac biet and pho ga (chicken) both decent but not what the restaurant is really known for. Overall, a really good Vietnamese restaurant especially if you are looking for Northern Vietnamese food. The restaurant is really popular with the Northern Vietnamese community in Toronto. It's priced a little higher in comparison to most Vietnamese restaurants in Toronto but not outrageous. Service is reasonable and the place is reasonably clean. Parking is a little bit of a hassle and can be hard to find.

I tried first time Vietnamese food and I have to say it was delicious. For appetizer we had shrimp summer rolls and I think they are so fast the best summer rolls I ever had in my life. The sauce on the side was perfect to eat the summer rolls. Then we had the duck salad the salad was amazing but sadly the duck was not cooked well. And as the main course I had the chicken vermicelli bowl it came with a spring roll and this was the hidden gem such a great combination of flavors. And at the end I had very delicious Vietnamese coffee. After drinking that I know the real meaning of coffee. I would definitely recommend this place. And I will go again It's family friendly and even great for dinner and lunch with colleges and friends. Price was is nice too.

    Best lòng di in GTA
    Karla T.

It was my first time here and the it wasn't bad! I've heard so many good things about Pho Son, especially their Long Doi dish. And I have to admit, they have the best lòng di dish in GTA!!! Pho Son is a small restaurant on St Clair near Runnymede. It's very tiny but clean. The staffs are quick. The seats are limited so you may have to wait during their rush hours. Besides lòng di, I ordered Bun Cha Ha Noi or Northern style grilled pork with vermicelli. The meat was a bit hard and dry, their vermicelli as well. But the fish sauce was just right that kinda help me to be able to almost finish the dish. It comes with herbs, pickled daikons and carrots, and lettuce. It was a good dish, but I won't say it's the best Bun Cha in GTA. Some may not like it since they make the broth for Pho differently. Why? Because they made it the Northern style. The broth is clearer, but has stronger taste and more flavourful. The food portion is pretty decent for the price you have to pay. I will definitely come back here to try out other items on their menu. And once I did, I will write an update. Till the next check-in...:p

If you're looking for authentic viet food then you must come here! They have special dishes that aren't serve at all pho restaurants. The restaurant is clean but limited parking outside. Spacious interior and friendly staff! Food isn't cheap but the quality is amazing.

    Ha Noi Styled Vemicelli

I never give 5 stars for a Vietnamese restaurant because they always lack something. But this restaurant is just good in general. We drove all the way to the restaurant for 30 minutes because we heard they serve authentic and well-known Northern Vietnamese cuisines. Instead of getting Pho today, we ordered the special Vietnamese grilled sausages, Ha Noi styled vemicelli, and Marinated Pockhoc with Vemicelli. The grilled sausages were the best thing I've ever had at a Vietnamese restaurants. They were absolutely delicious. It is my favorite dish there and I think I will always come back for this. The Hanoi styled vemicelli was also very good. It was very tasty when I had my first bites, but then the grilled sausages came out and I was just so into the sausages after. My friend ordered the Marinated Pock Hoc and I tried one bite and honestly didn't like it much. My friend however said he likes it as much as I like my Hanoi vemicelli. Service, in general, is good too. The waiter was very nice. The only thing I noticed that the table was quite sticky so I hope it could be wiped carefully next time. The restaurant is very small. There are about 6-8 tables. It will be hard to get enough seats if you come with a group. I noticed a family group of 5 and 6 came in and were not able to get enough seats. Pricing is fair I would say. It is for sure on a higher-priced side compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. However this restaurant is very unique in terms of dishes they servered. It's quite impossible to find another Viet restaurant that serve authentic Northern dishes such as grilled sausages, or marinated pock hoc. Overall I totally recomend this restaurant if you want to try authentic northern cuisine. It was my first time trying it today and I was completely satisfied with my meal. P/s: Vietnamese grilled sausage is only available from Fri to Sun as it is a part of the Weekends Special.

Decided to try this place out for lunch as it was on the way and nearby. It was a northern Vietnamese Pho place . I don't really know the distinction between different places of Vietnam so I didn't know what to expect. Some of the differences I noticed was that there was less things in the menu. I didn't see the beef and tripe pho that I usually see in other Pho places I went to. I decided to try Pho Tai Bac - Hanoi's Rare Beef Rice Noodle Soup. The first different thing which was noticeable was the type of noodle they used, and the beef was not that much as well- I think all restaurants now are downsizing with their portion. Might be the rising beef prices? Maybe. So this was around $12 for the medium size. It was more broth like the other reviewers said. It sure filled me up with the broth though. As for the taste, I can taste a hint of ginger and some fish sauce in the broth? I think. One thing which was nice was the cold iced drink.. I think it was green tea? Perfect for the hot summer day. Kind of different as I know most places serve hot tea. I also got a grilled pork and chicken to go which was around $14. The taste was ok but not really to my liking. I was happy though that there was not much burnt spots on the food, as my previous pet peeve with grilled take out food. However I did not really take a liking to the somewhat different taste . I'm not sure how to describe it. Overall, it was a good place to try, however it is somewhat on the $$ price range for me. Some of the staff were friendly but one staff was kind of I don't know? Could've perked up more .

Holy this place was good. Got fresh spring rolls and it was so soft. Not sure how to explain it but this is the first time I've had it like this. Their noodles and wrap seem to be more cooked than other places making it soft. I also got the regular pho and it has the best broth I've ever had. You can really taste the herbs and also the beef. It was strong but a good amount. Amazing! This place is fairly small so you almost have to wait for a table to clear up most times. Definitely worth the wait though.

Ooooh I enjoyed my dinner here so much. I was craving Vietnamese since I arrived to Toronto and this small place -and all the good reviews I read- did not disappoint me! My boyfriend ordered a Pho with pork and I ordered the lemongrass chicken with vegetables and rice. Everything was so fresh, full of intense flavours and super tasty, even the small spring onion soup that came with my main dish was great and full of flavour. We finished our dinner full and super satisfied, and at a very good price. Totally recommendable.

I previously have had Anh Dao for take out before - their pork sausages (nem nuong) are delicious and perfect when you wrap them with vermicelli and fresh herbs. Even when I got take out, the restaurant gives you plenty of fresh ingredients to create your own fresh rolls. I recently went to Anh Dao for lunch to dine in at the restaurant on a Friday around 12:30pm. The place was pretty quiet as it seemed like I was their first customer that day. During my time there, there was another party of 2 that also came in to eat lunch. I opted for the house special soup pho ($19.95). Service was friendly and my food came at a reasonable time after I ordered. The house special pho included slice rare beef, beef brisket, beef balls, and tripe. The soup was slightly sweet with a nuttier flavour. The noodles were unfortunately not the fresh kind but there were ample beef ingredients in the bowl of pho for the price you are paying. I love how in addition to siracha and hoisin sauce, there is also ground up chili sauce as well as a pickled sliced garlic and jalapeno pepper mixture at the table. Moreover, you get bean spouts, a red chili pepper, fresh herbs, and lime that you can add to your pho broth. Overall, a tasty bowl of pho where the quality of the beef was good. Anh Dao is a tasty option for Vietnamese food in the College and Spadina area. Definitely do try their meat platters as they are quite delicious!
