Cozy, no frills restaurant with a deeply flavorful pho broth! We ordered the chicken banh mi and rare beef pho. The pho broth was stellar - super flavorful with no excessive MSG flavor. Probably one of the best broths I've tried in the East Bay. The chicken banh mi, however, fell flat. The chicken didn't have the usual grilled, bbq flavor I'm used to. I will say the vegetables were nice and fresh and the bread was crispy yet chewy. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor seating, though both are pretty limited. The service was quick and our interaction with the staff was short but efficient. Definitely will be coming back! read more

Delicious combination beef pho. I got the size small and finished it, which I normally can't do when I get pho from other places, but it was the perfect amount for me and I was hungry. The beef balls were the best I've had and I would probably next time just get the rare beef and beef balls. Will order again! Super fast and friendly service too. read more

My family and I came here after church one Sunday and after our first visit we have being coming back consistently. The food is amazing and the employees are kind. They have always been the most welcoming and genuine, they make us feel like family which is big reason we keep coming back. I'm not sure who the previous manager was but they made a terrific choice with new management. The ingredients are always fresh, the Vietnamese pancake is always crispy, and the smoothies are always delicious. I'm glad we found Pho Sam read more

What a beautiful restaurant which has received a beautiful upgrade to the dining area with bright lights, beautiful photos and wall decor. It has such a friendly atmosphere that makes you feel like family. We always have the PHO soup that has a very tasty broth. Also a favorite of mine which I recently discovered is their crepe which is absolutely the best I've had ever. The food is pretty good. I got the grilled beef over rice, good flavor and juicy meat. I will update the review once I get some Pho. The service was ok, I understand that Pho Sam has gone through a change of ownership, so they are still training. I have been a long time Pho Sam patron close to 13 years. I do miss Long and his family, Long was a character which made everyone feel like you were having a meal with family, he always knew my order and would always put a smile on your face. Definitely give the new owners a chance, it takes time to get everything dialed in. Inside is not as busy as it usually is during lunch, but the renovations are very nice. i plan on coming back and trying different menu items. read more

Pho Sam was my family's go to place for pho. Unfortunately, it has gone downhill with the change of ownership. I'm not sure what all the glowing reviews are from. The new owners are very friendly, but the food is lackluster. Pho is all about the soup base and theirs is lacking flavor. They kept the old pricing, but the portions have been cut in half. Truly one of the best pho bowls I've ever had. After reading all the yelp reviews I decided on the rare beef bowl (which I never get, always pho ga for me) and it absolutely lives up to hype. The broth is full of a complexity of flavors, and the delicately sliced beef has the perfect chew. I'd suggest opting for the XL bowl if you're only getting one meat, I definitely wanted 2x the amount of beef. But the price point is fantastic for how incredible the food is, so order away! Pho-Sam is our go-to Vietnamese spot in San Ramon. It's a family business that has been under new ownership since November 2025. The Pho, consisting of beef and chicken noodle soup with homemade broth, is great as are the appetizers and rice plates. The Ban Xeo (Sizzling Crepe) and Banh Mi Vietnamese sandwiches are also very good. I like the Thai Tea and Vietnamese iced coffee. The dining area is intimate and very clean. Today, I went back with my family to try a much beloved restaurant of ours after discovering that it is now under new ownership. The first thing we noticed was that the restaurant has been newly renovated and now has a clean and welcoming appearance. The new owners were very friendly and accommodating and I am happy to say that they have well exceeded our expectations and quality of the previous owners! We ordered three bowls of special pho and were greeted with a generous portion of meat, noodles, and broth. The broth is very fragrant and savory and the meat is tender and fresh, all while keeping the same affordable prices from before. We even got free Thai milk tea and soft drinks for visiting them during their soft opening. They also offer a new and improved menu with a wider variety of items to try. As an extremely experienced Vietnamese individual, I can confidently say that the new Pho Sam restaurant is quite possibly the best Vietnamese restaurant you can find in the entire East Bay Area. If you are looking for delicious Vietnamese food at an unbeatable price and quality, this is the restaurant for you. My family and I will definitely be new regulars here! read more

Small family run business in a random strip mall. There's not many tables inside, 6 in total and a couple tables outside. I ordered the medium #28 pho with well done meat and meatballs. The bowl was on the smaller end so if you're super hungry get the Large. the broth was decent for the area, the noodles felt a bit overcooked and not springy anymore, and the well done meat basically disintegrated into my broth and noodles lol there was legit nothing to pick up with my chopsticks. The meatballs were decent and they barely gave any veggies. Overall as a whole it wasn't bad but I think there could have been more meat and veggies for sure. Broth was on the sweeter side. read more

We were seated immediately. Beautiful and spacious inside, customer service was good. We had the yellowtail for the appetizer (yummy!) and the chicken vermicelli and the lemongrass pork chop for our mains. The chicken was nice and tender with a nice char. Plenty of vegetables. Dipping sauce included. I asked for chili oil and they said they charge $3 for it. I have never heard of such thing. The lemongrass pork chop tasted good as well, nice sear to it and it was tender. No dipping sauce included, we had to ask for it. I wanted a Diet Coke but they said they don't serve sodas, only sparkling waters (I believe flavored ones). So we opted for just water instead. Our server was friendly and attentive. When the bill came I was surprised they automatically added a 20% tip for a party of 2. You don't normally see that for small parties, I also don't remember seeing it on the menu, maybe I overlooked it. Overall this was a nice place to have lunch, for the price point, however, I was expecting more flavor and bigger servings. It was definitely good but nothing spectacular. We paid $100 for 2 people including 1 iced coffee. I was told by my companion the iced coffee was okay. This place is at the lot so plenty of parking.

So excited to know that they will be moving to a larger space in the same shopping center. They can get super packed and the wait is long on the weekends so moving to a larger space means more people can enjoy Andaman Thai! Today I noticed that they had new dishes on their "Secret Menu." And can I just mention that I love their new menus! The photos of the dishes look delicious and tantalizing!!! The service is always A+! We ordered: Tom Kha - so flavorful but I wish this soup had more veggies. It's mainly chicken chunks and mushrooms. Fried Calamari - Decent. It stayed crispy even after dipped in their delicious sauce. Green curry with tofu and veggies - another flavorful dish with fresh veggies and tofu. Such a delight. Kor Moo Yang (Pork Jowl) - Good grilled flavor. I wish it were more tender and maybe cooked more. The tamarind sauce complimented the pork well. So good with jasmine rice. They actually have three (3) locations in the Bay Area; Walnut Creek, Danville, and the location I am reviewing, San Ramon. This particular location opened its doors back in early-2018 and has had very positive feedback up to the present day. Located in an upscale strip mall on the corner of Bollinger Canyon Rd & Alcosta Blvd in the Marketplace Shopping Center in San Ramon, this place is just a few minutes from Highway 680. Parking was fairly easy to find, even during our visit which was on Saturday 8/8/2026 at around 7:15pm. Even though my lady and I didn't make reservations, we were seated immediately even with as busy as it was. The interior dining area is small but offers ample space complete with various booths and tables for small and larger guests. The beige walls with the brown ceilings and hanging lights really gave the overall appearance a cozy yet upscale one. Keep in mind that this place can get loud (mainly during the busy nights and weekends) so if you're looking for a quiet, romantic dining experience, this might not be your best option. As for their menu, they offer a very respectable number of choices. This includes appetizers, soups, salads, noodles, fried rice, curry dishes, and main entrées. Many of the traditional Thai favorites are found here as well as tofu dishes (for the vegans) and seafood dishes (for the pescatarians). As for our entrées, my lady went with their "Pad See Ew" which included pan-fried thick rice noodles with beef (as her protein), Chinese broccoli and eggs in sweet black soy sauce. I went with their "Seafood Hot Plate" which offered prawns, scallops, calamari, fish and mussels with peppercorn, bell pepper, onions, ginger root and basil sauteed in a spicy sweet chili paste sauce. We both split a side of rice and for drinks, I went with a "Thai Iced Tea" while she ordered a diet soda. I will say that for it being a Saturday evening, our food came out in less than 10 minutes! That's a huge plus considering how hungry we both were. As for our dishes, hers was cooked to perfection with the perfect amount of sweet, salty, and savory in the noodles, veggies, eggs, and beef. Mine though was a bit on the spicy side. I've had my fair share of Thai dishes over the past few decades, and this seafood hot plate took "hot" to a whole other level of spicy. I also wanted to add that there wasn't a whole abundance of seafood as I found way more bell peppers and onions than anything else. However, service was top notch while the prices were lower than many other Thai restaurants in the Bay Area. All in all, I am giving "Andaman Thai" an above average four-star rating. While her dish was excellent with a decent amount of meat, mine was just average at-best with not enough seafood. This place does have fairly decent hours of operation being open seven days a week from 11am-2:30pm (for lunch) and 5-9pm (for dinner). I definitely see myself returning and possibly checking out their other locations. But for small or large parties, I highly recommend checking them out.

This place is a true hole in the wall gem if you like authentic vietnamese food. Every order is made to order by the owner himself, and the same family recipe has been used for all the food from Vietnamese Village in San Bruno before it changed owners. If you truly love pho or vietnamese food there is a dish on the menu for you. Some of my favorites: A3. House Special Vietnamese Egg Rolls - These fried egg rolls are wrapped in the same rice paper used in Goi Cuon (Spring Rolls). The rice paper gives the egg rolls an extra crisp will make your mouth water. Be sure to wrap them in lettuce and dip them in fish sauce. 1. Combination Beef Noodle Soup - Also known Pho Xe Lua or the works. It has rare and well done beef, tripe, tendon, and beef balls. Combined with all the right compliments of bean sprouts, basil, lime juice, jalapeno, and sweet/spicy dipping sauce for the beef makes this my daily order at the restaurant. The soup is made daily for 6 hours like it should be, with the perfect color and taste. I have tasted other pho restaurants that have an orange/amber color with a terrible salty taste. If you are not a fan of tendon or tripe, I would recommend getting #4. It has beef balls and rare steak, both of which taste amazing with the sriracha/hoisin sauce. 29. BBQ Pork on Rice, Add Fried Egg If you are vietnamese or chinese, you most likely love pork. I am no different and this dish is satisfies my glutenous stomach every time. The pork is marinated and charbroiled vietnamese style, with the char on the edges. Its topped off with salted green onions that go great when mixed with the rice. The fried egg on top is the cherry on top if you're feeling extra hungry. I would not recommend it if you are not a big eater. The fish sauce and veggies on the side compliment the dish nicely. You should be stuffed by the time you clean your plate. 59. BBQ Pork and Egg Roll /w Tiny Rice Stick - Not many vietnamese restaurants offer Banh Hoi, or tiny rice stick. It is basically squares of mini-noodles that is topped off with shrimp flakes. The noodles make good substitutes for rice if you're looking for a change, and I prefer mines with extra shrimp flakes and salted oily onions. Of course you can top off the tiny rice stick with your favorite choice of meet, mine being the charbroiled pork. Sometimes, I like to treat myself to the grilled shrimp on sugar cane. It's not as filling (shrimp hardly is), but the shrimp is so delicious and tender that it is hard to resist. The cherry on top of this dish is the added egg roll. I'm a big fan of getting the grilled shrimp with the added egg roll over banh hoi to fill me up more. 85. House Special Crispy Chow Mein - This dish has been my favorite ever since I first had it in East San Jose. A large bed of egg noodles are fried to a golden crisp, and topped off with mixed veggies, your favorite meat, and a special sauce. The sauce is a chinese mustard that softens and flavors the noodles so that you can enjoy them in your mouth. If you like your noodles crispy like me, you only half dip your noodles so that you get that balance of crunch and chewiness with the flavor of the sauce. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is still a work in progress. I have talked to the owner and he has many plans to improve the place. The restaurant is indeed mom and pop owned, and you can even get a glance of their 5 year old son playing in the corner. The service is extremely friendly, even if their english is sometimes lacking. Oh and also, unlike many other asian restaurants, the bathroom is CLEAN!! On the way to the back you get a behind-the-scenes look on how the food is made as well. Pho Sam is still very new but I feel like this is an up and coming restaurant because the food is so good. If you really need a decent atmosphere, then take the food to go and enjoy it at home. I often do this after I have finished eating so that I have left overs for later, or if I'm in a hurry I'll grab a Banh Mi sandwich to go. Man, writing this review makes me want pho. read more

When I think of the difference between a good Vietnamese restaurant and a good steak house, only one thing comes to mind........cleanliness! This place is small, this place is old, sometimes it looks even dirty. But you know what! This place serves some really damn good pho so who cares if the roof is coming down on you or not! The Opening Sign did fall off when I was there on my last visit though, lmao wtfbbq! Their pho is very aromatic, but could use a little more meat. In their defense, the prices are so low, I think you get enough for the price! They offer Vietnamese Sandwiches but too bad its nothing compared to like the ones you can buy in Oakland C-Town! They don't have any of the pork liver paste on the bread. Just the meat, veggies and some sauce. There's really not much service but what do you need that for at a place like this. My favorite pho place since I've discovered it for myself! See you next week Pho Sam! read more

This is my first time visiting Sam Pho, and I was really impressed! I heard there's a new owner who's working hard to make the pho even better -- and it truly shows. The beef broth is rich and deeply flavorful -- you can tell it's made from real beef bones, and chicken bones not from powdered or "beef-flavored" mixes. The taste is natural, comforting, and full of that slow-simmered depth that true pho lovers appreciate. The meat was fresh and tender, especially the rare slices that cooked perfectly in the hot broth. The noodles were soft but not mushy, just the right texture. If you're looking for authentic Vietnamese pho with real bone broth and top-quality ingredients, Sam Restaurant is a must-try! The service is great, and the people are friendly and welcoming. read more

This place is bomb! The owner is FRIENDLY! Be prepared for a conversation. But it's not the fake conversations you will normally have with a restraunteeur, he's just genuinely a nice guy. As for the Pho, I am a recent convert to Vietnamese food. It is beautiful. It's light, yet filling. You don't feel laden down after a meal. I love it. I try and go here once a week if I can. And I don't know what it is they put in the Vietnamese iced coffee......but it has to be illegal in some state. Haha, one cup and you are redlined for hours. I was warned not to drink it too fast for a good reason. Give them your business and you will not leave unsatisfied. read more

I wish I could give them 5 stars for their pho ga because their chicken broth is the best I've tasted in the East Bay. It's deep-tasting and extremely flavorful. Their chicken pieces are good also. But why no other vegetables? Yes, they have the usual toppings (bean sprouts, hot peppers, etc.) but no broccoli, green onions, cabbage, celery, etc. And putting roasted garlic or roasted onion in it would really make it a 5-star special. So while I love the broth and service, and it comes tantalizingly close to being on par with some of the ones I have had in San Jose or the City, I am afraid I can 'only' give it 4 stars. read more

My family and I went to Pho Sam for dinner few days ago for the first time. We ordered Curry Chicken with bread, beef noodle soup and BBQ shrimp rice noodle. I am on low sodium diet, so I asked if I could have shrimps sauted/ BBQ with no sauce. The chef then brought (in person) two different shrimps to show me and let me picked the one I preferred. I thought was very thoughtful. The dishes were great even though mine was with NO DRESSING. I still enjoyed. Normally I don't write review for pho places, since I can't tell the biggest difference between them except for the broth, which is probably the only difference. Service here was soso. We were pretty much the only table here and they didn't seem attentive. Guess its not their fault since it was at an odd hour. Pho itself was delicious, but there was a big strand of hair in the bowl and it made the meal unappetizing, but the smell of the broth was so good that I could not resist. Price is good. Just to note, there's at least two other sushi places around here, with one across the street and one just down the street in the shopping center next to this one, there' no shortages of sushi spots here. However, with Senro Sushi, if you want affordability it's probably one of the more affordable ones out of all 3 in this area. The place itself is pretty big, with lots of seating inside and very spacious all around with a pretty massive sushi bar area. They are staffed well overall, as even when you go in the morning there's usually a couple of servers at least, and several sushi chefs behind the sushi bar counter area, prepping fish, cutting, making sushi and etc. The service here is pretty good overall. Haven't had any issues. The menu here is, pretty big. They have a bit of everything that's not just sushi options of course. I've tried several things here already, so let me just go through each thing. The lunch bento is probably the best bang for your buck here. Compared to the other sushi spots, you won't be able to find one as cheap as them, and the amount of stuff you get here with it is pretty good too. This bento box does come with miso soup and also a tasty salad (dressing is yummers). You will also get a California Roll with it, which is amazing because their California here is actually quite tasty. One of the better ones hands down. You have the option to choose two other things from the menu (if you choose to go with 2 items), and decide what you want. I've tried the chicken teriyaki, the chicken katsu, and the tempura. All have been good. Hands down what you should get if you're here at that time on a weekday. The Agadashi tofu was just okay. Wasn't terrible, but felt their dashi was really bland, and the tofu itself wasn't fried that well. It needs to be more crisp to avoid it just falling apart when moist. Also, the batter they used just didn't have any flavor to it at all. It was okay. The sushi roll we got was yum. I don't really have much else to say about it other than that it was good. The fish was fresh, the spicy fish was good, and the sauces blended well. Good. The chicken egg don was not great. We had actually mistakenly ordered this instead of the katsudon, and this was just awful. The chicken didn't feel well cooked, the broccoli was just straight steamed with no sauce on it. The egg was overcooked, and not even remotely fluffy for what this is supposed to be. Just overall not at all what I had expected. Overall, Senro is a great spot for affordable sushi options in this area in San Ramon. While it's not going to offer anything super flashy, which the sushi spot in the shopping center across the street may offer, it's also going to be much less of a bill here when all said and done. The bento boxes are hands down the best option here for those here on a weekday lunch. The sushi rolls here are also great. Some of the other stuff we had were just, okay, but overall, was a nice experience here right near the Crow Canyon freeway exit.
