It's aiiiight. I was craving a bowl of hot pho, and I stopped by Pho Saigon for the steak, flank, tripe, and tendon version. There are multiple varieties and combinations per usual on the menu, and the beef pho broth is pretty uniform across the board. The flavor was fine, but right in the middle range of phos I've tried. The side toppings were a bit wilted as well. There is a regular small size and a large size, which comes with more noodles and broth. I also sampled the avocado smoothie with pearls, and this was also fine. The avocado was a little on the raw side and I could taste it. The pearls were overall cooked fine, but there were a few clumps along the way. Pho Saigon is not bad in a pinch, but it likely wouldn't be my first choice. read more

My girlfriend and I were visiting Houston for a few days and luckily found this place close by to where we were staying. We arrived Friday around 4 pm and there was a lot of open tables. Their staff is quick and very friendly. Their menu is very extensive, but I went with the go-to beef pho and avocado smoothie. My girlfriend ordered their 11 and some egg rolls. Our pho soups came out quick as did the smoothie... the egg rolls took about 15 minutes but made their way out after my girlfriend reminded them. The soup broths were savory, nice portions, and real good sliced tender beef. Chef's kiss foreal. Their avocado smoothie was subtly sweet, i got their tapioca extra for only 25 cents more for the chewy fun. Love this place on a cold day! The Combination Soup is everything you need. Ingredients are fresh and the broth is so slurpable. The drinks are refreshing, so are the smoothies and coffees. The rice/vermicelli plates aren't the main attraction, and leave a little to be desired, but you should be ordering a soup to begin with. The banh mi are hit and miss. First off, they have multiple combinations so you can pick and choose the cuts of meat you want. I ordered the #18 that had eye-round steak, well-done flank, fatty brisket, and soft tendon. You can also choose the size of your bowl. The large bowl is more cost efficient because it's only an extra $1 but I get full off broth quickly and opted for the small bowl which still left me full at the end. I also ordered the ca phe sua da and it brought me back to life. They actually serve it to you with the coffee filter so you can make it as concentrated or as dilute as you like. This has been my go to pho spot for over a decade plus. I appreciate the consistency and the broth is just very comforting and nostalgic for me. The service is fairly quick for pho to come out. The egg rolls may take a bit longer depending on how busy they are but not bad. Although this last trip they completely forgot our egg roll order sadly but life goes on. I've ordered here through door dash when desperate and can't get out the house but it doesn't taste the same as dining in. The ambiance is cozy and reminiscent of late 90s for me. I don't think much has changed and it's what I appreciate. It looks like they have new menus now and not the flip spiral booklet so that's exciting to not have to flip through. I have been here at least 6 times in the last few months, and the consistency, quantity, and value for your money have yet to be topped by anywhere else in Houston. If you like leaner beef, try the Pho Tai. The pho dac biet is plentiful with the noodles and the meats. The broth is more flavorful that other places. Pho Saigon is casual and has plenty of available seating even when busy. Usually only wait 5-10 minutes from sitting down to eating good pho, so a wonderful place to stop for a quick meal. Once in a blue moon the broth is a little bit off, but otherwise you can count on some tasty broth, noodles, and meat. The pho comes in large and small options which is nice, and they give you plenty of fresh ingredients to add in like sprouts, basil, and cilantro. Their spring rolls are also good as is the peanut sauce, but you can only order two min (would be nice if I could just order 1 when I dine solo). Typical weekend night for me to have some pho. Okay, maybe an occasional thing for me so I was stoked to have some. We tried the special Pho, seafood pho and a side order of grilled pork chop. The seafood pho was a very clean tasting broth but the seafood-ness of it was nowhere to be found. Not sure what they intended to do here or how they intend to do it but it was a complete miss. Besides the two pieces of seafood it came with, it was still a fulfilling bowl of noodles but for the Covid pricing most of the pho shops are jumping to, I expected more. The special pho was a standard bowl of pho. Nothing remotely special other than the gauging price. The side order of the pork chop was probably the best thing we ate. It was slightly saltier than I liked but nothing a sip of pho broth can't fix. This joint gets an okay for me and I'm on my way to find my forever pho joint in Houston. read more

Came here for brunch on a Monday morning. Parking was super easy - the plaza has a parking lot. I got the Chicken Rice Noodle Soup. It hit the spot, what else can I say. They have three different size options: Small, Medium, and Large. All with different prices. You can even select white or dark meat for the chicken in your noodle soup. I got the small and it was under $8, including tax. It was great. It also came with cilantro, mint leaves, etc. The only criticism I had was that not all of the seats were placed six feet apart so be careful - COVID is no joke. They're not really mindful about seating other parties away from one another, so you have to be the one to ask them to seat you further. I'd recommend going when they're slow or ordering to-go.
