There also wasn't a lot of meat in the pho... they skimped out on the ingredients The rice noodles were cooked well with a good bite and texture and I liked the thickness of the rice noodles. Sometimes, restaurants serve really thick or really thin noodles and I just prefer a medium width. Delicious! Classic vietnamese fare in a large, bright, clean establishment. I had Pho Tai Nam with the rare and well done beef. The broth was just exquisite. Very beefy with a lot of lemongrass flavour and a whole bunch of other yumminess. The raw onions had just the right bite, and the jalepenos on the side were a very welcome addition. The small size was perfect for me for lunch. My wife had vermicelli noodles with lemongrass chicken and a roll dip. The chicken was perfectly cooked -- very tender, grilled well, and full of juicy zesty flavour. Overall the dish was very fresh and satisfying, in her words. Cleanest Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to, and food tastes fresh true to ingredients. It might lack the umami you're used to from other pho places that rely heavily on msg/buillon but for me, this was the healthiest & cleanest tasting pho I've ever had. Hidden little Vietnamese place in a strip mall in Coquitlam. After work I was craving some rice and meat. I checked yelp and found this Vietnamese restaurant, and I'm glad I did. My husband likes pho so thats what he usually orders. Tasted the broth wasn't bad (I generally don't order Pho) I opted for the pork lemon grass with spring rolls and rice. It tasted great and hit the spot. Good portions. We arrived around 5pm early dinner place was still pretty slow. The place was nice, clean, with lots of seating. The server was really nice. Following a recommendation from Carolyn N, I decided to give this pho place a try. Very clean looking and was promptly seated and my order taken after a couple of minutes when the server returned with my tea. Only two complaints that I can think of: I'm a several napkin kind of eater (especially after I add all the spicy bits) and had to ask for extra napkins after they dropped off a single one with my water. The plate of sprouts/basil/sliced peppers also had a suggestion of a lemon wedge. It was about the size of a quarter (not hyperbole) and barely any juice came out when I squeezed it. The broth was one of the better ones I've had. A rich brown with a great beefy flavor. Not bland in the least. Seeing as this was my first time here, I got the house special with a mix of all of their meats. Seemed to have a good overall amount of meat, although I wouldn't have minded more beef balls (only came with half of one). The next time I go, and there will be a next time, I'll just be sure to order extra. :-) read more

Having moved to Port Moody from East van had a craving for good Pho but been hesitant to try new places. Whole family had the Pho (Dac Biet), overall pretty good. My wife commented the noodles were dried noodles and not fresh noodles which you find in most good places. Small knock, could be wrong but have had enough pho in my life to tell the difference. Place is clean, staff friendly. Overall a good place, look forward to trying some other dishes. read more

Came here to nom hard after a nice hike with my boy. We ordered Pho Tai Gan (pho with beef slice and tendon), and Rice with lemongrass chicken and cha Lua, as well as spring rolls, and a durian shake. The spring rolls were pretty good, as well as the chicken on my rice dish. Pho was decent...I overheard someone say at another table that this restaurant has northern style pho, which could explain why the pho wasn't that strongly flavored. Personally, my daddy grew up in the South and would cook Pho southern style, so maybe I'm just used to really flavorful pho....either way, I didn't think the pho was anything special. The rice dish didn't fare much better than the pho. It was pretty simple, and only had a tiny portion of pickled vegetables. The Cha Lua was...cha Lua, just cut up and fried. My boyfriend really liked the chicken though, he thought it was very nice tasting. I thought the durian shake was the best thing. Super tasty :))) a bit sweet but seriously so yummy! This seems to be a popular Vietnamese restaurant around this area. It is packed with people during lunch hour every time. We wants to give it a try after church for lunch because we couldn't find seats at Copa next door. Well, it is kind of disappointed. I have many experience with Pho but this one is quite different. I don't think the soup base is freshly made as it was light and clear. I even suspect that they use a lot of MSG as I got thirsty right after the meal. So if you really want authentic Pho, forget it. read more

Love their pho and fried chicken wings, they're amazing! Other rice or dry rice noodle dishes are great too. Decent service and pretty fast. Not the cleanest but it's fine too. Several parking spaces and a few tables. Walking distance to bus stops too. My friend used to work there and said the treatment was alright not too good at all but the food is great. Had pretty high expectations reading the other reviews, and the place did look clean with Vietnamese workers. I was hoping for a solid pho place to go to in Coquitlam. I was thoroughly disappointed, the noodles were super bland and flavourless. The soup wasn't much better and the meat was pretty chewy. I ate about half of my bowl and it was getting worse with each bite, hoison sauce and chilli sauce couldn't take away from the blan noodles. As well got a fresh squeezed orange juice and they must load it up with sugar cause it was way to sweet and sugary. Needless to say, I'd rather make the drive to east Vancouver. Rather than trying to get a fix for some soup noodles here. read more

This place is now competing with Pho Huy for my favourite local Pho joint! Grabbed lunch here last week with a girlfriend and was very pleasantly surprised by the restaurant. The interioir is very clean and much less 'hole in the wall' than most Pho places - they even have art hanging on all the walls. The service was friendly and helpful and the food that we ordered quite good. I like to stick with my pho staple when I try out new place, just to see how it compares, so I went with the hot & sour seafood pho and was pleased with my choice. Lots of prawns and really nice fish balls in a tasty (although not quite hot enough for my liking) bowl of soup. The key for pho is the broth and I found this to be light and flavourful. There was a good amount of meat and noodles in my bowl as well - just enough to finsh off all my broth. Overall, I enjoy the flavour of my stand-by joint's hot & sour more, but I think that's just a matter of taste. We had two bowls of soup and one Vietnamese coffee and the bill was 20 bux, all in. I will definitely be back ato Pho Phu Thinh to try some of their other offerings in the very near future! read more

Our first couple of times here, we would have given it 3.5-4 stars for taste of food and service. After today's visit, unfortunately, we would only give it 2 stars. Not sure if we're missing something, but when we arrived for dinner at 6pm, the place was only a third full, but the servers were quite oblivious and a bit on the rude side. Most places give apple juice with their kids meals, this place gives purple koolaid in a bag. My son is allowed to eat most chips, snacks and what not, but I draw the line at purple koolaid in a bag - so he sipped water out of a cup. I ordered the lemon grass vermicelli bowl and the vermicelli was beyond shredded. It was impossible to pick up more than a few shreds of vermicelli and shredded carrots with chopsticks, I needed to use a spoon to eat. The flavour of the lemon grass chicken was excellent, no burnt bits and moist. Spring roll was nicely fried and crispy. My husband ordered #27, spicy soup with meat and chicken meat balls. He said it wasn't very good so I tried a sip of the soup and wasn't too impressed either. The flavour was very artificial without depth, which is quite odd for a spicy soup. The portion of the kids meal was a good size and generous portion of meat and noodles. Overall, the service was a total miss. We had to repeat our request for water a couple of times, the bowl of spicy soup was served to the table beside us and then brought over to us without an apology to either table. We've been to numerous pho restaurants in the area and as busy as pho restaurants get, at least other places try to smile or at least have one server that smiles. The restaurant was packed by the time we left but I don't think we will return here. read more

Yay, hubby and I finally came around to trying this "new pho place" by coquitlam center (across the street in the complex with the Church's Chicken). We liked it so much we went back the next day for more. My husband had the spicy bowl of noodles, and I had one of the good ol' regular bowls with rare beef, tendon, and tripe. The regular size is only $6.10!! My husband also ordered a salad roll. The broth was very clear, flavourful, and delicious. I was very impressed. The restaurant was very modern and clean, and the service was great. The man who was serving all the tables was working harder than anyone I've seen in a long time, and with a smile on his face. The bill only came up to something like $17 for the two of us (crazy), and they even take debit/credit. The place as bustling, and I can see why. This is one of our favorite places to go for Pho and I tell everyone that it's definitely worth going to if you're in the area. So when we decided to order out the other night, imagine my disappointment when we looked at what we got and saw that the portions were very small... There was absolutely no distinction between large and small sizes, and there was hardly any meat. We ordered 2 beef balls and rare beef pho (one large and one small), and received ONE beef ball each and maybe only about 4 slices of beef. There may have been *slightly* more noodles for the large, but really that was about the only difference. The house special and bu bo hue, had a little more meat but very little of everything else... Overall, it was far less than what you would get eating in. I could see that they were trying to make it so you could put everything into those little take out bowls the soup comes in, but really, you just ended up getting very small portions. So I'll still recommend this place but only if you eat in. Take out is definitely not worth it!! read more

Price and portion sizes are on par with other pho places and the service is quick. I'm surprised that Pho Phu Thinh has 4 stars - I think it's more of a 3 and under but I suppose it's a 4 if you're comparing it to any other pho in coquitlam. I wasn't too impressed with my small #10 - noodle soup with sliced rare beef & beef ball. The soup stock doesn't seem rich enough (as in it hasn't been boiled long enough with the beef bones) and I feel that there wasn't enough meat in it to satisfy hearty meat eaters (I'm a small meat eater so I was relatively ok with this). One thing I do have to commend Pho Phu Thinh is that their noodles are definitely of a better quality than Delicious Pho (a block down from Pho Phu Thinh), and the chicken wings ordered by the table next to us looked absolutely delicious. I think they are accustomed to Asian customers who would usually ask for cooked bean sprouts (they are supposedly cleaner this way) since they gave us cooked ones without us asking for any. My fiancée and I actually like our bean sprouts raw so we were surprised about this, but others might enjoy this service. All in all, I wouldn't be purposely travelling the distance to Pho Phu Thinh just to get a pho. This is definitely more of a we-were-in-the-neighborhood-and-we-have-a-pho-craving kind of place. read more

Big fan of this place. This is our go to Vietnamese restaurant . The kids love this place. The owners are very friendly and appear to genuinely love kids. They go out of their way EVERY time we are there to come over and talk to our son and daughter. On to the food. You can't beat their Banh Mi. For 3.50 you get a great sandwich filled with Grilled chicken, carrots, cucumbers, peppers, cilantro.. Their lemon grass chicken with either rice or vermicelli is fantastic. Noodle soups are great as well. The broth is never too salty. Overall a very good Vietnamese restaurant at great prices. Truly a great place to take your family for lunch or dinner. read more

I love pho! If you look at how many Pho places I review, it's a lot. lol. I went in a couple of days ago as I was in the area, even though I had just had breakfast two hours earlier, and oh yeah, totally worth it! I had the bun bo hue and the broth is THE BEST in the lower mainland. I mean, I didn't suffer from "starving makes everything taste great" thing, so it must be the best! Get extra meatballs. After my Boxing Day haul at Coquitlam Centre Mall, my family and I went over to Pho Phu Thinh for late lunch. It's the Vietnamese restaurant beside Copa Cafe in Coquitlam. I felt like having pho since it was a cold day so I ordered a #12 large. It had sliced rare beef, well done flank, and tripe. I really liked the broth actually. It had a cleaner and lighter flavour compared to other pho places in the area such as Delicious Pho. The noodles and beef weren't bad either. However, when I was trying out the tripe, I noticed that there was a piece of plastic around it! I was already more than halfway through my meal when I noticed this and showed it to the owner. He was very apologetic and brought out a new order for me but I wish they had just comped the meal instead since I was already pretty full. I ended up finishing it anyways (with some help). Other than my little plastic tripe incident, the food was good. The service could definitely be improved though. I stumble onto this place as my massage therapist is a block away. I live in Vancouver so I have eating at a lot of Vietnamese restaurants. The place is very clean and most important the bathrooms are very clean which is not the case for most Vancouver pho restaurants. The food is very good and the meat was very fresh and its almost comparable to my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Only pho place I'll go to in Coquitlam. Clean, great food and great people! The pho here is hot and filling. The broth sits much closer to northern style pho which I prefer because its not as sweet. If I'm not feeling pho I love 37a which has the meat Patty on the vermicelli bowl. So good and you can't find it at a lot of other pho restaurants. Their sandwiches are great too, with some yummy chewy bread gah. The pricing for the sandwich makes a great cheap lunch meal. read more
