I wish the spicy coconut curry broth had a stronger coconut curry flavour. I found the soup to be a bit watered down than what I would have liked. Service was great. Restaurant is kid friendly. Solid veggie pho options on the healthier side. I visited for lunch one day, having seen that they have a sizeable vegetarian section of the menu (most items are vegan). They have 4 different veggie noodle soup, so I tried one of those -- the spicy creamy peanut vegetable noodle soup, since I'm a sucker for the peanut phos out there. I got a large ($13 plus tax). The soup came in about 5 minutes. The pho I took doesn't really do it justice, as all the veggies, tofu and noodles were submerged in the soup. You get plenty of veggies -- mostly broccoli and carrots -- along with steamed soft tofu and a generous portion of al dente rice noodles, with the usual garnishes. The broth was on the very light side, almost more reminiscent of a light miso character with a soft peanuty element, only lightly spicy. It's aiming to be on the healthier side, so as such, it's lighter and not very salty -- so don't expect a deep flavour explosion. For what it is, it's very solid and I'd have no problem returning, but it doesn't blow you away with complexity. Very solid spot for healthy veggie pho. read more

Not really sure how to rate this place. It's a hole in the wall restaurant with one waitress and it seems her parents work the kitchen in the back. They all seem really nice. Ordered a lemongrass chicken with spring roll vermicelli bowl. The chicken were cut into more small pieces than other pho joints. It was a little over $10. I had the pho tai with rare beef. The beef was not in nice while pieces but in shreds. I didn't like that. The broth tasted sweeter than other pho places and when I was done and left the bowl alone, the soup separated into 2 layers, dark brown layer at the bottom and clear soup on top. I've never seen that before but dunno enough about pho soup to know why that happened. It was around $8.50 for a regular. I'll probably go try a different place next time I'm in the area. read more

**3.5 Stars out of 5** Cozy, family run place, nestled among Austin avenues restaurant row. They were happy to accommodate my wife, child and I with a snug booth. Atmosphere was great, seemed like lots of regulars engaged in casual chats with the staff. Service was on point. Portions were a little on the smaller side than what I am used to, specifically the Prawn and Ham Salad Rolls. The two pieces were probably the size of a single roll from most other joints. I had the smaller bowl of the Spicy Peanut Vegetarian Noodle Soup and it was passable but honesty a little thin on flavour and spice. I found myself thankful there was extra Peanut dipping sauce from the Salad Rolls that I could add to my bowl. Non fried tofu was an interesting choice as the texture kind of falls apart in the soup, lots of broccoli and noodles though! My wife had a Lemon Grass Chicken Vermicelli Bowl that she enjoyed down to the last bite, the fried Spring Roll came with this dish was also the hottest damn tube of delicious ever served. I think next time I'll try a more classic soup with the beef broth. There are a few parking spots in the rear lot off the alleyway. Up some stairs and then you get to walk through their kitchen, which is a little different, but nice to see the food operations clean and tidy! read more

This is my go to spot on a cold day and when it's too hot to cook! The food is good and the service has always been friendly. I particularly love the lemon grass grilled chicken soup, which has scallions and lemon grass to compliment the grilled chicken. My partner enjoys the house special. I hate giving them such a low rating considering every other time I've gone and gotten the (large) spicy peanut Veggie noodle soup it's been great, but this time it was so lackluster. Had a craving for their soup for weeks , finally had the time to stop by but the restaurant was closing in 15 minutes. Even after I decided to go somewhere else the hostess kindly insisted that I dine in. I was using yelp to find a good Pho restaurant in the coquitlam area. Pho Holiday came up so i wanted to give it a try. I will say parking was a bit tough. There is some parking in front and also some in the back, but they fill up quickly. My recommendation, park behind the safeway which is across the street from Pho Holiday. Lots of parking, short walk. Now into the review. This place is great. It was nicely decorated inside, very clean, and excellent service. I ordered the salad rolls and then a vegetarian dish (they actually had a vegetarian section in their menu!), which had broccoli and nicely braised tofu with a nice soy and garlic sauce to pour on top.. all this on top of a bed of noodles with some nice greens. It was excellent. I had a lovely chat with one of the owners afterwards. Highly recommend this place. While i dont get out to Coquitlam this often, it will be a regular stop. read more

I tried Pho Holiday for the first time last week. I placed a takeout order for a #25, which is their lemongrass chicken, vermicelli and spring roll. I was told it would take about 25 minutes. While I thought this was a bit long, it was a Friday at 7pm and I am used to eating in when going for pho which takes like 10 minutes at a place like Pho 99. I gave them some leeway, as it was my first time trying it. It's a hole in the wall as others have suggested - 2 people working in the back with one waitress. Pho 99 there's staff buzzing everywhere, so the time frame now made sense to me for this little place. They only take cash and debit as they are a small business, but will take credit cards if absolutely necessary. All i'd brought was my visa but I'd never been there before, so I didn't know, but they let me use my visa anyways. Keeping in mind it was takeout (maybe if I ate in it would be better), the food was a solid okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing either. My favorite was the spring roll. Bottom line - are there better pho places out there? Yes. Does it do the trick for a close by Vietnamese place if I have a hankering? Yes. read more

We go out for pho about once a week and always used to go to Pho 99, because we live just across the road, but I'm really glad we decided to go a bit farther because it was really worth it to dine at Pho Holiday. Much nicer atmosphere and more importantly, much better food. I had the #1, my wife had the #2, and we both were totally satisfied. They have lots of interesting looking choices on the menu, so there will be a tough decision next time, but that's a good thing. We parked in the back, and our only complaint was that the wooden stairs going up to the kitchen entrance seemed just a bit wobbly. But that won't stop us from coming back again and again. read more

So this is my third time coming here and while its not a wow place its passable if you are hungry.. First time just had their viet subs. Nothing to scream for but tasty and very cheap. Second time was phó. Broth is quite bland if you compared to the defunct Pho Boi that closed down near by (now a Korean) and not near as good as the broth from Capital Pho on North Road. Third time was a vermicelli with lemon grass pork. I think they do these a bit better as they are big with lots of meat but their rolls are the tiniest simplest rolls ever both spring and summer rolls. The summer roll sauce is watered down and looks almost artificial. If I am dying of hunger and I have no other options its great but otherwise we need a new vietnamese place in the Austin Heights area. read more

Pretty meh. I live in Vancouver but come to coq often to visit parents and trying to find good takeout / pho in this area is a struggle. The broth is pretty lack lustre and bland. Reviews said it's better then pho 99 but I have to disagree. Yes the service is friendly and much better but still needs some work. The prawn spring rolls were probably the best part of my meal. My ol' reliable pho spot! Service is fast and friendly. Way better than Pho 99 as the beef tastes fresh and not overly fatty or greasy. I visit here probably at least a few times a month and have never been disappointed. It's a cozy, clean restaurant with a welcoming family vibe, but I've also gotten pho as take-out from here as well and it's just as good. Great little pho joint in the area. Husband and I have been here a couple times and the lady working there actually remembered us even though we hadn't been back for a few months. She was really friendly and we had a nice time chatting about our previous visit to Vietnam and all the food we had there. I like the bun bo hue and I find the serving sizes to be more generous than some other pho restaurants we've been to. I also like that the menu gives you the option of either the traditional flat pho rice noodles or the thicker spaghetti shaped rice vermicelli for bun bo hue. Service was quick and the kitchen area (from what we saw while paying at the front counter anyways) looked quite clean. This is probably the best place for Vietnamese food you'll find in the area. read more

The staff are nice and the food is tasty. Unfortunately when we visited there were hairs in 2/3 dishes that we received! The staff did apologize and were accommodating but their excuse was that they had a bad batch of noodles. They did include a free dessert for our troubles but did not end up taking the bowls off our bill. There was a heat wave in the city, so what do you do? Go for pho. Thanks to Yelp I found myself some Pho Holiday. 30 degrees outside and no AC inside. Normally this isn't a good thing but it actually reminded me of being on the hot streets of Vietnam having a bowl of noodle soup in some alleyway. Only I didn't have pho (but my wife did have the bun bo hue and salad rolls). I had the grilled chicken with spring roll. The meal was delicious. Nothing was overly salty nor was it bland. The chicken was perfectly grilled and just what I was looking for. The portions are better than some other options around town and so are the prices. This place would have been good for Vancouver so it's pretty much a rock star in Coquitlam. We only interacted with one lady who I suppose was the owner. She was friendly and we had a nice conversation about our time in Vietnam. I will definitely come back and if the pho is good, I'll upgrade to 5 stars. read more
