We were originally in the mood for Japanese, but passing by this place and seeing Bo Ne on the menu, we had to come in and try it. Definitely didn't expect to see that offered in the burbs, so it was a nice surprise! Very small and cozy spot, only been around for a few months. The service is quick, and the food came out quickly as well. The salad had a nice little spicy dressing, and the pho broth was nice and refreshing, a bit heavier on the star anise than most other places. The baguette was nice and hot, with a crispy outside and soft and slightly denser-than-expected inside. The beef had some nice flavor, would have loved it closer on the rarer side. The paté was great, wish there was more! The eggs could be runnier, but over still nice to dip the bread into. Overall, it was a nice meal and a pleasant surprise to find here in Pleasanton without having to go to SJ or Westminster (definitely not the same, but it's hard to complain when you live in the burbs). The owner Nick came over at the end of the meal to check on us, and he was so nice. His wife does all the prep, and it just feels nice to support a small local business that doesn't just do generic Vietnamese with 50+ items on the menu and specializes in a few good dishes. They have many of the usual dishes like most pho shops, but also fresh sugar cane juice, various takes on bo ne, and a few Banh mi dips. Even though the restaurant was busy when we arrived, they were able to accommodate our group of 8. I ordered the beef rib sizzling plate since I don't see that very often in Houston. First and foremost, I'll start by saying, this area NEEDS this spot. I WANT this... just areas to improve upon before they are something absolutely special in this area. I was born and raised in San Jose for 39 years and moved to Pleasanton just last year. The Viet spots here are lacking and it's such a sore topic of living in this area. The other spots are super basic and it's just pho and basic rice plates. So for a spot to offer Bo Ne... you've got my attention. I love what they are bringing to the area and although my feedback might sound overly critical, I want to say, I want this place to win, I want them to do better and I will continue to come back and support the spot. Wife ordered the Pho w/ beef rib and ox tail. For being $20, the pho itself was fairly small. Some noodles, a beef rib and three knuckles of the ox tail. The broth was too heavy on cinnamon flavor. The noodles weren't cooked through and hard still. We let it sit for a bit but this is a pretty basic mistake. The meats were kinda underwhelming. Would have loved it if they gave it some char prior to putting it in the broth. Would imagine they're roasting the bones and stuff for the broth anyway? It's a small kitchen I assume so maybe they're limited with what they can do. Who knows... Just would have appreciated some more color and texture on the meats. The Bo Ne was supposed to be shaved filet mignon but meat was over cooked. Made it taste like a cheap cut of meat. So were the eggs. So overcooked they were rubbery. But the bread was nice and toasted. And I get it, maybe the area might not be ready for this yet but serve the meat rare, toss it on before serving it.. eggs too. It's a sizzling plate, it'll cook at the table.. That way it isn't just cooked to death. Would also love to see some sui mai (like the meatball not the dimsum dumpling) or cha lua on there too. Spots are doing a wedge of laughing cow these days too. But really, it's the ratio of "spreadable things" to "meat in the banh mi". Ran out of pate pretty quick and it was just meat and bread after. Not as fun of an adventure if you know what I mean. I love that they had Rau Ma (pennyworth) on the menu and sugar cane. Only complaint. The drinks are filled to the brim with ice and you barely get any drink. It really felt like 90:10. I drank the drink pretty fast after it had been sitting for about 10-15 minutes. And it was about 80% full of ice. The staff is super friendly and they're all moving quickly and taking care of the guests. They check in on you and smile. The restaurant itself is very small and more of a cafe type vibe. They really do deserve to make it big and offer something much larger (in terms of space). We got 2 plain sugarcane juice and it was refreshing and sweet. The place is on the smaller side but the service is pretty fast. We ordered a banh mi chao bo ne which is like beef with pate and baguette. It was delicious but a little oily. The baguette was soft and taste great with the beef and egg. We also got 2 pho, one with beef ribs and one with ox tails. The broth were flavorful and have a lot of meats. It made me want to try their banh mi chao with beef ribs next time. I've had Vietnamese food many times before and have always thought that the food was, "alright". However, since discovering Pho Lovers, I haven't been able to stop going! While there isn't a lot of room, the restaurant isn't too loud. A lot of the time, there will only be a few other people in. However, the food is amazing and the service is quick. The Pho broth is both sweet and savory. The noodles silky smooth. And the meat? Absolutely perfect. They also provide plenty of greens on the side which I love. Personally, my favorites are the #1 and #9. They also serve Bahn Mi with their freshly made baguettes, which are also delightful! Finally, their drinks. Absolutely lovely. They make several drinks, including coffee, milk tea, green tea, and soda. For their coffee, they serve it with either sea salt foam, a sort of egg foam, durian, or coconut. All of which are delightful. I love the coffee here as it's not too sweet. I also love the passion fruit soda served here as well however. This little cute place had the BEST drinks I've ever had. I got the taro with sea salt cream and it was soooo creamy and indulgent. My boyfriend got the iced coffee with sea salt cream and he finished his so fast, he wished he got a bigger size (if there is a bigger size). Other than the drinks, the staff were amazing and so fast. They were definitely on it. We noticed on the menu there were no sizes for the soups. When we received our order, the presentation was so cute and lovely, but the portion was small. My boyfriend was slightly disappointed at the end because of the portion, but the flavor truly held it together for us. I am personally extremely judgmental when it comes to pho, but this one truly hit the spot despite other pho restaurants around the tri-valley area. Food (8/10) - The food here was super authentic and had the same taste of the pho you'd get in Vietnam. Overall, the broth had a very rich flavor. You could tell a lot of love and care went into the making of the broth. The thing I was most surprised by, and my favorite aspect, was how tender the beef is. Normally, when it comes to Vietnamese food, the beef tends to be a bit overcooked or tough. However, this beef was still very tender for the #6. The only complaint is that I wish the noodle portion size was bigger. We were lacking and I had to get an extra serving of noodles (which was 6 dollars)... Service (9/10) - Server was attentive and very nice. Not much more to say in this regard. We shared a bit of a laugh with our server because our table order a 5,6,7, and 8. Seeing this recently family run pho and boba shop, I have been curious especially after browsing their menu. There was something unique about their dishes. Finally the opportunity arose to visit. I went in with the thought of ordering the short rib with bone and ox tail with baked baguette. At the time of order, I had copped out and substituted the baguette for rice. And wanted to try their coffee with egg cream. Service was friendly and food delivery deliberate. It was after lunch rush so no hurry. The food quality was sufficient though initially it looked intimidating. There was plenty of meat on the short rib bone but the oxtail was three small pieces, not comparable to the short rib. For my appetite, overall the quantity was sufficient. The broth that came with the short rib and oxtail was very good especially after bean sprouts, basil, lime, and siracha made it more enjoyable. I wish I had stuck with the original dish design with the baguette. That would be different dining experience. My initial swallow of the coffee made my food extra salty but it subsided. We ordered the S4 sizzling rib platter with rice instead of the chewy Baguette. The broth that came with the dish is salty. Yes, it is literally the pho broth. I got very thirsty from consuming too much sodium. I asked for water. They refilled the water. When I asked for water again. The waitress was not happy and gave me the look. We waited, waited, she finally came back with the pitcher, filled water to 1/3 of the cup, that's 3 oz, and took off. This is ice water, I don't get what is the problem with this place. And they are not even busy. $50 for two entrees served in plastic cup, rice in paper bowl, not including tips, and they try to skimp on the ice water, that is just wrong, IMO. read more

Hallelujah! Finally a Vietnamese restaurant in the Tri Valley that does not only serve basic pho and rice plates . We came here for the sizzling steak and egg. Bonus they had sugarcane juice with many flavors. Looking forward to coming back and trying the Vietnamese coffee, other specialty drinks, and pho. The Banh Mi Chao (aka Bo Ne) included meat, eggs, pate, baguette, and side salad. My advice to them is to put the fish sauce on the side cause my Caucasian hubby did not like it on the salad. As a Vietnamese person that used to live in the South Bay I would say this is on par with many of the Vietnamese restaurant in the San Jose and OC area. The sugarcane juice was really good and they did not skim on the sugarcane. The ambiance is nice and clean. Customer service was good. Pho Lovers opened up in a space inside the Ulfert Plaza that used to be Chan's Kitchen. They focus on pho, banh mi and banh mi chao which is sizzling platter served with baguette. What's more, they serve various variations of sugarcane drinks which is rare in the Tri-Valley area. They also serve egg coffee. Although the restaurant is small, it's bright and nicely decorated. The staff was very friendly and efficient. Sugarcane Juice with Passion Fruit - slightly tangy and sweet at the same time. Very refreshing for the summer. Beef Ribs Special Noodle Soup - the dish came in two different bowls. One bowl for the noodles and another bowl for the beef ribs. The two broths tasted different. The broth with the beef ribs tasted sweeter than the other one. They gave two huge beef ribs and the ribs were off-the-bone tender. Very soothing and satisfying to eat. I had a very pleasant first experience. Will surely return to check out other dishes and drinks. read more

So glad to have this spot in Dublin, been seeing similar restaurant concepts in Sf and SJ, but it's nice to have something closer to the East bay. With that said, the restaurant is intimate, it only seat around 8 ish tables, there was a wait when we got there and about a 10 min or less wait for the 2 of us, other parties group of 5 was a bit longer due to the size of the restaurant as they had limited seating. Onto the food, the menu has a small selection: banh mi, pho, and the create your own banh mi option, along with tons of yummy drinks to choose from. If you're looking for appetizers or other viet dishes, this isn't the place. The service is fast and they also serve a citrusy water, not lemon or lime, kind of reminds of me kalamansi ( very refreshing and goes perfect with your mean) The pho #1 was delicious, great broth and good quality steak, we asked for steak on the side. 5 stars, but down side if you like sauce they only have siracha and hoisin. The c2 pork, pate and eggs dish came with side salad and soup, unfortunately they ran out of baguette so they subbed me with rice. Due to the richness and sweetness of the dish and lack of baguette to soak up all the goodness, the rice wasn't as good to me, as if I had the baguette; as I would of imagine. 3 stars. Based on what I was served. A down side, which I came to realize a bit late into the meal, I noticed the ladies taking the order for this specific dish didn't immediately tell anyone they're out of the baguette, even though she mentioned to me they're out only later till the order was ready to serve that they're out and will substitute with rice. They didn't inform anyone while they were ordering, all the tables after me and before we noticed had rice but only after the order is en route, as if they just ran out - didn't like that business practice, but giving them the benefit of the doubt as they were pretty slammed. HIDDEN GEM! Pho Lovers recently opened up, located in the bottom floor of the Ulferts Center plaza. They have their menu & business hours displayed clearly on the window if you ever stroll by! Their service was great and friendly, seating us quickly as well as being attentive to our readiness & drinks if they were full or not! The food came out incredibly quick, granted there were only a few others in the store, it was still very fast. Keep mind this restaurant is smaller, seating around 24-30 people with 8 tables total. The ambience is great and isn't loud or disturbing to a customer's experience. The food was absolutely phenomenal. The flavor, presentation, and price were all absolutely worth it & exceeded my expectations, especially compared to surrounding restaurants. The broth of their pho is one of the best I've had here, being rich, flavorful, and smooth. Their Banh Mi was also great specifically their banh mi (Vietnamese baguette). It was light and fluffy authentic bread, and DOES NOT scratch the top of your mouth unlike Lee's lol. My new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Dublin. My husband and I were craving legit Vietnamese cuisine over the weekend but did not want to make a trek to SJ or Oakland. Hubs really wanted to try Pho Dublin since they have other locations in South Bay so that prob meant it's decent somehow. Boy were we impressed! I really like their Bo Ne, serving size is pretty big and could serve two people. The bread is probably the best baguette I've had in a while - very fresh, airy but crispy, slight hint of butter and garlic. It seems like it's handmade from the restaurant itself bc you will not find this type of quality anywhere nowadays. The filet migon did remind us of bulbugi meat, though the bread and pate made up for it. 10/10 - it gets pretty busy during lunch time! read more
