This was our first time at this Vietnamese restaurant and we enjoyed the authenticity and teamwork amongst the staff. It's a 3, but it's really a 2 for the banh mi and a 4 for the app combo. They didn't have a beef option for the meat, and the pork was just ok. I wanted a stronger pickle flavor on the veggies, and the pate just tasted like mayo. The bread was also not crusty enough. There was nothing spicy in it. This just wasn't very good. The appetizer combo, on the other hand, was excellent. Fried rolls were nice and crunchy, the shrimp rolls were nice and fresh. All of the sauces were excellent, and it came with 3. I liked all 5. It's hard for me to review Pho Anh Dao because it is my first time having Vietnamese cuisine, so I have nothing to compare it to. The service was friendly and quick. Many of the dishes are on the menu as their Vietnamese name but the descriptions are in English and they have conveniently numbered everything so that you don't have to be afraid of pronouncing anything wrong. I started with the lemonade and club soda. I've never had these two things mixed before but it was delicious and refreshing, a great alternative to having a syrupy soda. For my meal I had the brisket Pho. There was a lot of meat and noodles in it but for me, the pho didn't feel like enough for a meal. I have a big appetite and I'm not a huge (clear) soup lover, so this was bad ordering on my part, but I was curious to see what pho was like because it has become increasingly popular. I think if I was to get pho again I'd get something on the side as well to fill me up a little more. What I do like is the bean sprouts, jalepenos and cilantro come on the side, so you get to determine your heat level and also whether or not you want cilantro and bean sprouts. What really won it for me and will absolutely get me to return was my friend's roasted pork banh mi, omg talk about delicious! It was so flavorful from the sweet and savory roasted pork to the tangy veggies! It was also a very generous size and not expensive at all especially considering portion. I was truly envious of her dish! I would definitely return, and now that I am a little more familiar with some of the menu items, I have no doubt my next visit will be even better. 5/5 read more

I found this place about 6 months ago as it was my second experience with Pho and they definitely redeemed it for me. I normally get the shrimp pho & I love it. It's so flavorful by itself but once you add all the toppings & sauces it's amazing!! Im so glad I didn't let that first experience turn me off from Pho because it is amazing. The restaurant staff is very pleasant and have great customer service. I've dined in and also picked up multiple times & both experiences have been good. I was wanting some hot soup because of the chilly weather. Very flavorful pho but clean broth! I had the pho with oxtail from the specials. The oxtail meat was a little chewy, but cooked well. Also, got Vietnamese coffee which is awesome. I got it without ice so I can drink it all tomorrow morning instead at night. They didn't have the original sriracha which was a bit disappointing. No-frills spot for Vietnamese food in Edison. Very classic, and all dishes are pretty close to "authentic," IMO. The service is pretty ok, the ambiance isn't anything crazy. The place is usually relatively busy (though there will always be a table open) but doesn't get too loud. We had a late lunch at Pho Anh Dao on our last visit to Edison. We got goi cuon (rolls with shrimp and pork) for an appetizer, and it was a light and fresh start to the meal. I wasn't in the mood for pho, although I did try my husband's, and the broth was rich and flavorful. I got one of my favorite non-pho Vietnamese dishes, bun thit nuong cha gio (vermicelli noodle bowl with grilled pork and spring rolls), and really enjoyed their version. Portion size was generous, the spring rolls were nice and crispy, and all of the ingredients were really fresh. Service was friendly, and they had a really spacious dining room and lots of parking. Stopped by on Tuesday afternoon for a quick lunch after doing a Yelp search to find a Pho restaurant we haven't been to and this gem popped up... We were quickly seated and served a pot of hot tea upon request while we looked over the menu. We ordered the #24 Combo Pho that has rare beef, brisket, flank, tendon & tripe $11 and I saw some banh mi sandwiches on a poster that weren't listed on the menu so I inquired and was told the selections and decided on the Pork Banh Mi $6 The soup was served very quickly with its usual accompaniments... that wasn't my order but I was told it was so good I had to have a taste... the broth had great flavor it was a little spicy but sweet too... really nice. Then my sandwich was served and it looked and tasted delicious... served on a nice crusty baguette the pork was very flavorful and topped with the pickled veggies and cucumber it was the perfect lunch. I came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with a large group of people (13 people). We did get seated at 3 tables altogether which was great. The menu had a lot of Vietnamese dishes. Our table ordered the cubed beef appetizer, shrimp sugarcane skewer appetizer, the beef combo pho (XL), and the pork chop over rice. The beef appetizer was cooked well and I like the fried garlic. The shrimp skewers were dry but I really liked the tiny rice noodles. The pho was delicious. The pork chop was very dry. Service was fast and friendly. Come here for super fast service and delicious food! The restaurant itself is spacious and has a step-up area that contains booths. They said they were fixing the ac when I went, but there were many fans placed in the restaurant to keep you cool while eating. The fried spring rolls were crispy but not oily-tasting. It's also served with lettuce and cilantro, but there was only one piece of cilantro. I've had better summer rolls; the ratio of meat to noodles to shrimp was a bit off. A bit too much of the vermicelli noodles in my opinion. Not worth $4.75 for only 2 per order. Bun bo hue was a good spice level. Loved the ratio of the noodles to broth to meat. Just visited this wonder wonderful establishment for lunch.. the waiter and waitress were great, ambiance cute, the food was fantastic For an app we got the viet egg roll - you can never go wrong with them. And these were just great! My bf ordered chicken pho - the broth, omg!.. so clear you could read the newspaper in it! It was so flavorful, I kept dipping my spoon in for more! I haven't been here in a year or two, but I'm glad to see it's still just as good. My sister refers to it as the "bright green wall pho place." We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered the Combo Pho Large (#25), Beef Ball Pho (#33), and Egg Rolls - 4pcs (#1). The egg rolls came out soo quickly, and the pho bowls came out shortly after. The broth is flavorful and portion sizes are good. I also like the tea... I think it was some type of black tea. We wanted to order Banh Mi to go, but they were out of baguette bread (we came on a Friday at 6:30pm). Sad, but it's okay next time. The service is attentive, friendly, and quick. We came here for dinner and we got seated quickly. There is a pretty steady flow of people coming in and out probably because the service is quick. We were in and out in around 45 minutes. For our drink, we got Thai tea. My friend thought it was too sweet but I personally liked it. Take that as you will. For food, we got fried calamari and the beef wrapped with grape leaves that other yelpers said was good. The calamari was good but nothing special. It was extremely fried (which I love). HOWEVER, the beef wrapped grape leaves were not worth it. It's simply a chunk of beef wrapped in seasoned grape leaves. The leaves were good in itself and the beef tasted fine. But was it really worth the money to have okay beef wrapped in seasoned leaves? Probably not. Definitely do not recommend. The pho noodles, meat, and mix ins were overall good. The broth itself is pretty generic and not flavorful so we definitely recommend adding in things to your taste, whether that be the sauces or the mix ins. Just the pho alone isn't very tasty. While I only went into this place because I was picking up a Vietnamese iced coffee (Cà Phê Sữa Đá), which I was craving heavy, and had no issues with the order. I ordered over the phone and the drink was ready for me when I got there. The person at the desk was actually waiting for me to get there to put the ice in the drink, which was incredibly thoughtful. Patrons of the restaurant at the time seemed to be enjoying their time. My wife and I have been here a bunch of times. They have her favorite app- Banh Cuon which is a rice sheathing over some ground pork. I've tried a bunch of things including curry dishes, pho, bon Bo hue, rice crepe. We have enjoyed it all and plan to go back often. One of the things I love most about Vietnamese food is the clean non-gelatinous natural flavors. This place isn't bad, but there are much better options in the area. The 'summer roll' which is simple rice paper wrapped in vermicelli with pork, shrimp and a mint or basil leaf is a Vietnamese staple, but they don't seem to get it right here, there's way too much vermicelli and the shrimp is cut in half and seemed gutted. A fail. Their house special pho which is filled with all the goodies is usually my fav, but lacked flavor, if your pho's lacking then a red flag should start to raise. The squid in lemongrass was bland and the squid was cut way too small, yet another fail. I tried the hot and sour Vietnamese seafood soup; which has assorted seafood and salmon I really don't feel that salmon belongs in any soup, shrimp, fish balls, squid tomato, pineapple and phong crab meat, decent broth yet too many ingredients making it confusing and unappetizing, another horrible failure. The place is clean the service was very attentive and friendly. Edison New Jersey offers a virtuoso cornucopia of Asian deviation dining options, the options are abominable so, there is no need to settle for anything less perfection. 2.5 rounded down.
