They're so friendly, consistent, and kind to their customers! Have been here a few times and they're always not top of it. 3/5 because the broth really has something missing. (After going to Than Brothers for years, I could just be spoiled.) More bones? Spices? More vegetables? I'm just not sure. 3/5 also because the tofu just isn't quite right. Was in the mood for Pho so Yelp'ed spots in Seattle as I felt like trying a new spot. Pho An had great reviews so I gave it a go. I was super underwhelmed with the Pho Ga I ordered. The broth was so-so and the flavors were not there for Pho. I would skip this Pho spot and go to Pho Than Brothers in Seattle - one of my favorite spots in the city. Okay I'll admit I'm now a fan of this spot. The pho broth is legit,probably best you will find in N. Seattle. As far as I know there's only two pho joints on Lk City Way and the other gets a thumbs down after two chances so..... Yes a small bowl is still $6.50 but they give you a nice portion of meat and veggies so not a deal breaker. In hindsight prices on pho have been creeping up all over due to the economy. A place in Kirkland charges $8.50 for a small! Both the server and the mama-san at the counter were very friendly and we actually had our water glasses filled twice during the mea! I still have not tried the Banh mi sammiches yet, but they're next on the list since as I'm growing weary of cheating death each visit to "Vietgangsterville"aka-Hoang Billiards off MLK way lol Definitely try the crepes! The broth here is the most flavorful broth I've ever tasted! My friend did not enjoy their meatball, and I got up several times to close the door as it needs a new swing arm. We'll be back, but perhaps in summer when it's not so cold out and we don't have to worry about pausing our conversation to shut the door. read more

Probably one of the better pho places I've been to in North Seattle. Despite the multiple pho restaurants in Lake City, Pho An's pho broth is so delicious - flavorful, hot, and satisfying. About 99% of the time I order the 'everything' (I think it's the last option on the pho page of the menu) small pho bowl, but this time I decided to get the oxtail pho - which is also about a dollar more than the other options. I was so happy after the first broth sip. MMMM. Overall, I was very satisfied of the oxtail pho, (there were 2 bone pieces). The waiter guy that always works there (usually in flip flops) is super sweet and friendly. It was probably over a month since we last came in, and this time as my hubs ordered his usual 'everything' pho, he brought it out and actually remembered us and that we always get that one! (it was a surprise, he remember). I took one star off for the rice dishes - I think it's quite plain, and not as high quality that I've tasted. (Pho An's egg is just sunny side up, while other places I've tried has the egg that is filled with other ingredients/steamed? anyway, it's different). As I checked into Yelp though, I saw a tip regarding cream puffs...however, we did not receive any. I'm not sure if they give it out, or you have to purchase it? or that it was a temporary thing. Stopped in today for a late lunch. Normally I don't review a place until I have been there a few times, (because I usually factor in consistency) , but since this place is brand new I would like to step forward and advise you Pho fans to check it out. Bright clean interior, nice artwork on the walls, smelled great upon entering, and seated right away. Now let's get to the important part: The broth. Pho is ALL about the broth, and this place can compete with the other great Pho places in Seattle (and the East Side). I got the #10 (Tofu/veg, my usual) and since I was a first-timer, I just ordered the small. Well the small was perfect! Tons of noodles, carrots, broccoli, and lightly fried tofu sliced nice and thick. (Not bad for $6.25, right?!) They even gave me a little sweet cream puff thingy which was perfect after I killed that hot bowl of pho. Soft drinks are a buck. I'll be back, as long as they keep up the good work! read more

This place got rave reviews from some members of my community so I thought I'd try it out. I stopped there late one night about 15 min before closing and asked if it was too late to get take out, they said sure. The entry way was blocked by a huge yellow mop bucket and there was cardboard on the floor. I took a few minutes to look at the menu and was then told they had already shut down the grill. I didn't know what dishes required the grill, and they seemed very anxious to get out of there so I said I'd come back another day. I could understand if I was just slidding into a booth but getting a quick take out shouldn't be an issue, and if it was, they should have said, "we're closed" when I asked. Tried them again tonight and ordered the lemongrass tofu over rice vermicelli with veggie eggroll. The food came out quick but there was no dipping sauce included with the eggroll, which was tasteless and not crispy, even though I only live 5 min away. it seemed more like it was baked. This is not a complicated dish. the tofu was tasteless. The rice noodles were overcooked, several pieces of lettuce were wilted and slimy and ALL of the bean sprouts were either brown and withered or slimy! This would not have passed quality control in any eating establishment I would work at. The prices are really cheap for Seattle in 2019, but they add on a 75 cent charge for take out container. I've never been anywhere else in Seattle that does that. They said it's b/c Seattle requires compostable containers, so that got me curious as to how much those containers cost. Quick google search popped up at only 19 cents for sugarcane compostable, the same size and type, so that's quite the upcharge. I'm not going to quibble about 75 cents and tbh, if they had just charged $10 for the dish, I wouldn't have blinked, but I really hate nickel and diming. Esp. when I'm sure they spend 19 cents on eat in diners, if you combine paying the waitress, the dishwasher, the water, soap, napkins, electricity, rent, etc...I bet it's a lot more than that. Bottom line, the food, while edible was sub-par. I was esp. disappointed after the raves I heard from neighbors....guess I ordered the wrong dish. Oh and the cardboard was still lining the long corridor to the front. The place itself looks kinda down in the dumps, the type of enviro I wouldn't want to linger in. I doubt I'll give them a 3rd shot. Gotta say, I've lived in Seattle for 2 years and I have not had decent strip mall or slightly more upscale Asian cuisine since I got here. I'm really surprised given the large Asian population. As I've mentioned in other reviews, I lived in Portland for over 17 years and never had a bad meal at any Vietnamese, Thai, Korean or Indian restaurant the entire time, from food trucks on up it was succulent. Firstly, Pho An's beauty and delicious food cannot be measured in a measly 5 stars. It robs Pho An of its humanity, and of its treasure trove of impeccable flavors. Take note that the two are not mutually exclusive: I have no doubt that the unrelenting and welcoming kindness of the owners make that food taste better than should be reasonably possible. And lastly, let it stand that I have just returned from Pho An with take out, and I've told the grumbling monster that is my famished stomach to hold its horses, because I truly feel this review is more important than diving into this beyond delicious, savory Pho. It is not often that I walk into a place and feel immediately at ease and welcome. I want the folks who operate this beautiful place to feel as seen and taken care of as my friends and I do every time I am in there, which is why this review is so important to me. The food is amazing, but rarely does good food come with such compassionate people making it for you. The food and service industry is not an easy realm to operate within. People take out their own personal woundedness on people in the service industry all the time. These people will never want you to feel anything but satisfied and welcome. Moreso, they want you to feel like family. Often the best food comes from places that aren't bedazzled with over-excessiveness. The place is charming, well-kept, and unique. This is my favorite pho restaurant! I come here almost once a week with my 5 year old son. The portions are generous for such an excellent price. The meat and vegetables are fresh and the broth is delightful. I also always get egg rolls and pot stickers that my son devours. The restaurant is clean. There is always plenty of staff who are so friendly. They even remember our usual order! Food arrives quickly. And there is plenty of parking in the back or on the street. I've been here twice now, once for dine in and once for take out. After a second try, I think I actually prefer the other pho place just down the street. When you dine in, you receive a cream puff, when we did take out...we did not. Not sure if they forgot or just don't provide them for take out. Either way, it struck me as kind of odd and inconsistent. Portion wise, it's plenty of noodles and meat. However, I'm not a big fan of the broth. It's hot and fresh, but it tastes more like cubed flavoring rather than bone/meat flavoring. Overall, it's okay as hot soup is always good on a cold rainy day, and it's convenient, but this wouldn't be my first choice. read more

We moved to Lake City very recently and have not had the time or money to explore local restaurants. We're vegetarian & my husband is sick today, and I decided that pho was just what the doctor ordered. There's no menu online, so I decided to drop by Pho An (based on Yelp reviews). Good decision! Free parking in back, clean kitchen, quick service, fresh-fresh-fresh vegetables and really good food! We had a large veggie pho and a tofu bahn mi for $13 plus change, and it was enough for dinner and lunch tomorrow. My (sorta stick-in-the-mud) sick husband had never had pho and LOVED it. I haven't lived here long enough to explore the many incarnations of pho, so I have little to compare this place to. Pho An is a nice little café in "downtown" Lake City. It's easy to get to and has parking and an entrance in the back. When you walk in the door you are met by the best aromas wafting through the place. The interior is clean, if not a little plain, but I love the many crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. The staff are very friendly and courteous. I ordered the beef pho with vermicelli noodles...the hub had the chicken. We both ordered the "small" version which is more than ample in size. It was served with a side plate of sprouts, slice peppers, fresh basil, and lime wedges. We also shared an appetizer of deep fried spring rolls which were great. The pho was good, but I felt as though it lacked another layer of flavor. It was certainly fresh and served piping hot, but the broth was lackluster and the beef looked like deli slice roast beef...nothing remarkable. The hub felt the same way about his dish. We arrived right after the place opened and in a short time it was packed. We may have just ordered the wrong dish, but are willing to give it another try. read more

Do not order take out from this place - they will rip you off! I picked up take-out short ribs from this place because of the high ratings. I'm shocked that it received such high remarks. Perhaps because I ordered take-out my experience was different. A normal beef short rib order would have 2-3 full strips. This place served me 3/4 of a strip & bones! I went there yesterday for Pho and the vermicelli combo. Both taste pretty good and the portion is good for the price. The pork chop and grill shrimp taste very good. The vermicelli is a bit overcooked but nothing serious. The place is clean and the service is quick. I would recommend it. What I really like about this place is that you can eat here and doesn't smell like Pho when you are done. PS. As far as I know (I ate Pho at many places in Chicago, LA, and DC) Pho sauces are hoisin and rooster. Never heard of eating it with plum sauce. First off, it's $6.25 for a "small" bowl. I think my stomach would have burst at any other size. You also get a delicious cream puff before your meal as well. The soup broth was better than most that I've had at other Pho places. It's a nice, clean place with good service. My noodles came out almost instantly, but I wouldn't have minded a wait either. This is thus far the best pho I have had in Seattle! (not that I have explored a ton, but still) The broth is very flavorful to the point you do not need to add anything or just very little. The small is huge and it comes with a lot of broth and a decent amount of noodles. I had the pho ga and the chicken was very edible. I have a tough time eating chicken at some of these places because the color and texture can be very unappealing, but here it was all white meat and in more of a shredded format (not completely, but not the chick rounds from some). Finally, the small seemed a little bigger than normal which I have no complaints about! Well done on all accounts. We also got the chicken friend rice which was delicious. It has almost a thai or teppanyaki flavor to it, which was appreciated. 2 bowls of pho and an order of the rice were $21. No complaints anywhere. read more

I have gotten three different dishes here, they always come with the same sauce, noodles, and weird salad dealie. All strange looking, all delicious. Haven't been a big Pho guy in the past but tried it here and liked it also. The shrimp appetizer was very tasty. The pho ga had the most tender chicken I have gotten in pho. Usually it has some degree of dryness, but here it broke apart in your mouth. Visited after reading good reviews on Yelp. This place is the BOMB! I am vegetarian, so I was worried there wouldn't be a good selection, but there is. Usual pick is the fresh rolls with tofu, vegetarian spring rolls, and vegetarian Vietnamese sandwich. Fresh rolls have a crunchy thing on the inside and awesome sauce! Vietnamese sandwich has all the proper fixings including fresh sliced jalapeno. Food presentation is fantastic, like a 4 star restaurant... really no down-side to this place, love it!! read more

Yum! Great way to warm up after a long day on the water, and added bonus - cleared my sinuses with a couple extra squirts of Sriracha. Took two complaining teenagers (who were hoping for Subway), and they both LOVED their amazing strawberry milkshakes and fresh spring rolls.
