Came to Pho 95 after seeing its name pop up in a Google search for "best pho in Denver." Located in the Little Saigon Business District where South Federal Avenue meets the streets named after states, it's one of many Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I pulled into the parking lot via West Arkansas Avenue then headed inside with my girlfriend. We were seated in the far corner by the windows, affording a view out onto the street. (People watching around here seems continuously rewarding.) After consulting Yelp reviews and doing a bit of our own soul-searching, I ordered a medium-size bowl of the wagyu beef pho, while she opted for the grilled chicken bun. The food arrived quickly. My soup was served in a large bowl, as you'd expect for a soup. I mixed in the bean sprouts, cilantro, and jalapenos with my chop sticks, stirring it all together. There was a generous portion of thinly sliced wagyu beef, brisket, and flank steak in the broth. Nodding, I began eating and slurping away. Well, okay. The noodles were cooked well. The veggies? No complaints. I also found the meat to be tender and delicious. But, to my taste, the broth was missing something. It was flat and subdued, not bursting with the flavors of clove and star anise that I'm used to. And, no matter how much everything else may satisfy, I have trouble seeing past an underwhelming broth. My girlfriend very much enjoyed her noodle dish, and we brought our leftovers to go. The service was good during the first half of our visit but weakened towards the end. I was torn between giving Pho 95 three stars or four stars; ultimately, I got a good vibe from this place, so I'm awarding them the four. Overall, not worth the hype. We came just after lunch, but it was still packed to the brim. Was expecting too much with that first impression. It took us over 10 minutes to not only get seated, but even to be acknowledged. Environment: Not much standing room to wait if there is another group waiting to be seated before. They have their own parking lot with additional spots in the back if necessary. Cleanliness: Looks like they were struggling to keep up with the demand of serving people with cleaning tables and bussing dirty dishes. When we were given our utensils - they were still soaking wet from the wash, but I had the previous user's cilantro still on mine. Food: I got the Pho Dac Biet. Tons of food, but not worth $15 for the Large. The broth lacked depth and I would well consider it bland. read more

Woah. Let me start off with this: I don't like soups or pho that much. I went to satisfy my girlfriends craving for pho and gave it a try. It was so good that I finished my bowl down to the very last drop. Portion size was incredible for the cost, leaving me very satiated. My neighbors were in awe of how much I ate. (Large size filet mignon steak Pho). Flavor was absolutely perfect without needing to add anything at all to it. Only thing that could make it better is if they had more sweets/dessert options. TL;DR: *False. Advertising.* I was lied to. Wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy. The main issue with this establishment is that they claim to have "Wagyu Kobe beef" on their menu. Genuine Kobe beef comes from a specific prefecture in Japan and is very hard to find here in the US. Our party ordered four of these bowls and received eye round, the cheapest cut of beef, instead of wagyu. Eye round is the cheapest beef because it has little to no marbling, exactly the property that makes Kobe beef so treasured. Essentially, they charged us $20 for a bowl of eye round pho that would normally be half the price. How are you going to charge such an insane price for such a lackluster cut of meat? It's ridiculous! Apart from the Kobe beef issue, all other aspects about the restaurant are mediocre, but the food is way overpriced. I would give this no stars if I could and wouldn't recommend it to anybody. There are plenty of other pho restaurants in the area, and they'll all give you better pho for a better price. read more

In Denver there is literally a pho place on every street corner. Like a ridiculous amount which can make the process of picking a pho joint overwhelming. Echoing the same sentiment as others pho 95 is one of the best pho places in Denver. Service isn't bad and the wait staff is attentive. If you come any say during lunch or dinner high time there will be a wait but it's worth it ! Try any of the phos but truly pho dac biet is the bee knees. Their broth is top notch where it's not super salty or oily and the perfect amount of flavor. Goi guon aka spring rolls are always fresh. If you're not a fan of peanut sauce ask them for the nuoc mum. We've also had a few of their plates like com dac biet or egg roll bun. All friggin delicious. For those who haven't had Vietnamese food before it is a flavor bomb. Make sure to have water on hand with you for a few hours because let's be real you gonna be thirsty. Why 4 stars? Because I think pho just isn't for me. --- --- --- I badly want to like it, but it's basically just soup to me. Knowing this, I was hesitant to spend one of my precious Denver meals here, but because it was high on the Yelp's top 100 in the U.S. list in 2014, I couldn't resist. I thought, "maybe I just haven't had GOOD pho yet..." But, no. It tasted rather unexciting to me, much like the rest that I've tried. They refer to pho places in Denver as an equivalent to a Starbucks in numbers. They're in every corner. It's very reassuring for us knowing that one of the dishes that we absolutely must have at least a minimum of once a week is not to be out of our lives. Locating one is not difficult. At first glance I counted twelve of them a few blocks from each other. Very reassuring indeed. This particular one that we first hit sits in a very busy main street. Long line past the front door on a very wet rainy and cold day. Very limited parking space. Although they use three sides of the building leaving one side as an exit. With that parking is still very limited. It is spacious inside. Two tops table are rare. Fast service. Three sizes of bowl. Small, medium and large. It is about $8 for the small pho ga. Very small standing only wait area that will barely fit five or six people. Hence the line past the door. No disposable chopsticks. No choices of noodles except what they give you. Fresh veggies. I'm no pho expert although I've had an affinity for it that needs to be fulfilled at three times a week. So yeah I've been eating pho for the past 5-6 years. So I know a little bit about it. It's all in the broth. You can throw anything into it if the broth is legit. The broth here is definitely not the best for me coming from a city where the best of the best pho is located. But it's acceptable nevertheless. I will continue my search for what suits my taste. There's plenty of choices. read more

This includes kitchen staff not wearing masks while standing next to prepared food and waitstaff with exposed noses taking customer orders, all within an indoor-only dining space. Coupled with a health score of 56, there are other Pho options in the city where you won't be putting your literal health at risk. Based on the stellar Yelp reviews, this pho restaurant made my list of "must-try" restaurants in Denver, although we soon discovered there's practically a million other pho restaurants around. We stayed on course and made our way to Pho 95 for lunch. Service seems a bit off here, but that's probably expected of most Asian restaurants, and that would be my only qualm. We stood and waited quite a while to be seated, then our food arrived very untimed, however, considering this is a pho place and a "long" wait here means like, 5 minutes, it's no big deal. On to the food! I started with a Ca Phe Sua Da (Vietnamese Iced Coffee) and it is one of the strongest, most delicious Vietnamese Iced Coffees I've ever had. I would highly recommend trying one of these if you can handle strong coffee! A couple of the guys at my table started with Goi Cuon appetizers. Be warned, these contain shredded lettuce thus aren't prepared the traditional way and definitely weren't the best. For my meal, I ordered a Pho Chin + Meatballs. The soup was great and tasty, the meat was delicious as well. And oh my gosh, the meat. I have no idea how I was able to finish all my noodles while pairing it with meat in every bite and somehow still ended up with about 2 cups of meat left in my bowl. Insane! But, thank you! Needless to say, we all walked away super stuffed. With all the competition going on around here, I don't think you can go wrong with the Pho, but I would gladly come here next time I'm in town. What makes this restaurant so good that it makes it on Yelp's Top 100 List of restaurants? I have no idea. To me, this is your typical pho restaurant. It has menus that cater more to the general public, not just for the Vietnamese population. I thought the pho was just okay, flavors were a little watered down. Maybe it's because I live in an area with a great selection of Vietnamese cuisine. I liked how they had three different serving sizes. Most places only have small and large. The restaurant is clean and well decorated. The service is great. The waiters are quick to help and provide you service, The prices are normal pho prices which is a good thing. I just think this place is overhyped. I'm thinking because everyone wants a bowl of pho during the long winter season in the mile high city. The pho on the west coast is a lot better (with the exception of Zagat rated Pho 75 in Arlington, VA). Tip: Park in their parking lot only! Park anywhere else and you might get towed. read more

Pho 95: First, I sip and savor the rich, silky, and flavorful beef broth. The broth is the most important aspect of any bowl of pho, and it is the star of Pho 95, where the broth cooking process starts each morning during early morning hours. Fresh Leaves, Sprouts and Peppers. I love eating fresh sliced jalapeño with my meal. Freshness matters, and you can easily see when the difference here as Pho 95 provides a generous plate of fresh and perky sprouts, peppers and lemongrass leaves. The Best Boba. Pho 95 makes the best Boba smoothies in town. The chewy Tapioca balls are always cooked perfectly, and slurp well into the mixed beverage. It's a great non-beer drink to go with the pho. I can't say enough, Pho 95 has the best boba smoothies in town. I have become a big fan of Vietnamese pho soup, and I fell in love with it at Pho 95. I'm sure that I'll try more of the menu over time, but it's tough to order anything other than my usual. Highly recommended. read more

TUESDAY January 5th 2010 : I made a reservation to eat at Pho 95 before Jan 5th. About 12 friends and I head down to Pho 95 for an evening dinner as part of (I.C.E) meetup group. Some of my friends, have ever ate Pho, some have not, and quite a number said this was their first trip to Pho 95. When we arrived, though our table is not really ready since there are some patrons, dining away, we sat at where we supposed to be seated separately. At about 19:00hrs, almost all of my friends were there and we finally were seated as a group. If I could recall correctly, I order the No. 10 from the menu, opt for a small bowl, rare steak, tendons and tripe, with an addition of extra tendon, and I also order Chicken Wings. This time around, since I am not in a rush and dont feel rushed, I enjoyed my Pho much more with the company of my friends. My friends like what they ordered for that evening too. From the group, one of the members order the Steam Chicken Rice of some sort. Since he came late due to the bad traffic on that evening, he opt for the Steam Chicken Rice instead of Pho. He likes the flavor and likes what he ordered too. Indeed the service is fast, and prompt. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Pho 95, especially KIM, who is the youngest sister of Aaron, with the staffs, making our dinner experience as awesome as it can be. With wonderful friends, meaningful conversations and good food, nothing went wrong on that day. Thank you Pho 95. The best vegetarian pho I've ever had, and I used to live in Southern California right next to Garden Grove with regular pho consumption. Husband had the pork vermicelli bowl, which had a heaping serving and was very good, per his review. The service was very good and prompt. I love that they offer three bowl sizes for pho. Another super solid pho place on Federal, hitting that $12 large pho sweet spot. As a Vietnamese man with grandma's pho as a baseline, my standards are fairly high when it comes to pho and this place does not disappoint. Pho review Broth: 4/5 excellent salty, clear broth with deep bone flavors. Only reason I don't give it 5/5 is because I like a richer base broth (entirely subjective, some people like a more pure base broth as a blank canvas, I just like a deeper rich broth with more of that anise kick) Noodles: 5/5 proper squared banh pho noodles cooked just right Meat: 5/5 solid helpings of tender sliced meat cooked just right Veggie garnish plate: 3/5 could have just been the day, but the garnish had all the essentials, it just didn't seem as fresh as some competitors. The greens were slightly wilting with some dark spots. I would certainly not hesitate to stop in again if I were on the block, but if I were searching for a solid bowl, I would check with Saigon Bowl or New Saigon first. A hole in the wall restaurant near the Asian Center a bit outside Denver. We were seated on the patio right away. Our waitor was friendly although spoke very little English. The service was quick. The portion of food was large. For pho, there were options for regular and large bowl. Not many options for broth though. I ordered a fried noodle dish topped with a variety of seafood. Meat portions are huge, I never end up with a bunch of noodle and soup to meat ratio. And the biggest plus is that they don't nickel and dime you, want more broth for the togo, no problem! We pulled into the parking lot and it was a 45 minute wait, no thanks. We look again for what was within 1 mile, Pho 95! So, all you need to know is just simply eat here. I live in Minnesota, which is home to solid Vietnamese food, I have high standards. You will find clean and flavorful broth, generous portions, HOT food and tasty sauces. Surprisingly very good pho in Denver (who would've known there would be good Vietnamese food here??). My group and I visited Denver for the weekend and wanted something warm and comforting to eat to beat out the cold weather. We Yelp'ed a Vietnamese restaurant and landed here - great choice! We ordered the fried egg roll and it was DELICIOUS. The outside was crispy while the inside was warm and tasty. I was so in love with the egg roll that I ordered a vermicelli plate with grilled pork and fried egg rolls. My friends ordered a pho bowl and all the entrees we ordered were huge portions - like big enough for two people to share. Unlike other pho restaurants, this one doesn't skimp out on the meat. They throw on heaps of raw meat to cook in the pho soup and a ton of grilled pork in my vermicelli bowl. I was really impressed by this establishment - a great find in Denver. read more

I flew all the way from Los Angeles to Denver just for a bowl of pho and it did not disappoint. Pho 95 Special (filet mignon, brisket, & flank, number 21, small $8.5) - My goodness, I just couldn't believe that I could find such a good pho outside of Los Angeles. Broth was amazing (that sweet savory was just right) and meat were super tender (dat filet mignon, yummmmm). Fresh bean sprouts, cilantro, hoishan sauce and Siracusa sauce just made this bowl of pho even better. Definitely one of the best pho I've ever had, period. Vietnamese egg rolls served with vegetables, vermicelli noodles and peanut sauce (number 7A, $5.95) - Wrap (the egg roll and other goodies like cucumber, bean sprouts, etc), dip (into the sauce), and eat! I think the sauce tasted okay, nonetheless it was crunchy and tasty! If this restaurant opens up in the LA area (or even Little Saigon in Westminster, CA), it can definitely compete or even stand out among all other pho restaurants. Heck, they even have a full bar (which was something you won't normally find in most of Vietnamese restaurants)! P.S. - Pho 95 offers the Pho-King Challenge. In order to participate, you'll need to call the restaurant at least 2 days ahead. The challenger needs to finish 2 lbs of noodles, 2 lbs of meat, 200 oz of broth, and separate plate of vegetables. Meat lovers this is your spot. I got the vermicelli special with pork, beef, shrimp, egg rolls and man was the dish so full of meat and noodles I thought since it was full of meat maybe I'd run out of vermicelli but I had plenty. The marination was tasty, maybe being on the road for a while my taste buds are off. But I don't think so, because this is the 2nd Vietnamese restaurant I've been to in Denver and it definitely beats anything I can get in Kansas City. Meat portion = large for my appetite, but I love how I had a snack later (not 2 full meals but still a mini snack works for my pregnant belly) Noodles & veggies = plenty and sufficient. Cost = for about $13-14 if I remember correctly this is a steal for what you get. The tea was a different flavor than I'm used to, definitely wasn't jasmine tea. Only issue would possibly be that we wanted to sit away from the door and pointed at a perfect spot but the waiter said the stroller would be in the way and wanted us to wait for a booth in another spot. Went for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant is clean and service is pretty great. I ordered the filet mignon, flank and brisket pho. My husband had rare steak pho. The soup came out piping hot and smelled delicious. The flavor, however, was lacking something. From reading the menu, one learns there are two distinct types of pho. Me thinks Pho 95's broth is Northern-inspired, which tends to be less complex in flavor. Add enough basil, jalapeño, hoisin, Sriracha, chili paste and POOF! Ok, the large bowl is huge, definitely make sure you have someone help you eat it. All the food we ordered was absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the Filet Pho bowl in large, I ordered a Bun with beef and egg rolls, and my son ordered the kids plain bowl. We ended up having to share everything to get it all eaten. Everything was super yummy and I would definitely recommend this super awesome Vietnamese restaurant in a cool part of town where you can also see a lowrider carshow and tons of dope graffiti. We went to this location because our favorite pho place closed down- he always talked of moving to Miami- I think he turned his dreams to a reality! Go him! Ha We showed up to a line... Our hungry bellies weren't sure if we could wait... But because we noticed the line going quickly we stayed. Once seated we each got a hot tea and started with the vietnamese eggrolls. My mouth is watering as I write this... Soooo good! They were crunchy and filled with deliciousness. The best part was we took 2 of them home and I was able to take my taste buds on a delightful ride of flavors. We then each ordered a medium pho- I choose the raw steak and he chose the well done brisket. Like I said, we were so hungry but our eyes were much bigger than our stomach. We should have gone with a small each because we could not finish that medium at all! And I never take home pho because I find it mushy once you reheat it. All in all, I am so happy they moved their location closer to us so we can enjoy this place when our pho cravings hit! Update: we came back a month later and still everything is amazing.
