I decided to try this place out because of the reviews. Had the Mongolian beef as recommended by other others. I was gravely disappointed. I asked for noodles with the beef because I know other people have done so but she said no it only comes with rice so I said OK. My food was ready in five minutes, and I could tell that this food had been sitting there for a while. The beef was soaked in oil and a majority of it puts onions and green beans very few pieces of actual beef. The price on the menu you said $17 but then I was charged 25. Disappointed! When we heard that Noodles Express was going to close, my friends and I were like we must visit. It's a truly hole in the wall restaurant. From the outside, it doesn't look really impressive and the interior isn't a standout. Service is pretty meh but nothing shocking. But the food is actually the reason why you should visit. The food is really good. Everything we ordered was pretty flavorful. There's a spice with most of the dishes we ordered so while one dish may not be spicy, it can add up when you have multiple dishes. My favorite was the fried pork intestine. That was so delicious and tasty. It was crispy. I'm craving them as I write this. Possibly one of the better intestines place in Colorado. Sesame chicken was okay, a little heavy on the breading and the taiwan noodle soup the broth tasted like water but the meat was soft and the noodles were chewy, but an overall pass on these dishes for me. The dumpling is very mainland Chinese style with more meat than veg, and flavor is almost a licorice undertone, so while it's fine it's not my style of dumpling. Additionally, there were way more toppings than at other restaurants, so this version of the dish is something that you won't find in other restaurants. Spicy boiled fish - I'd say medium on the heat scale...maybe 4/10. Very good. Homestyle pork noodles - Not at all spicy. I didn't love them, but I don't have anything bad to say about them, they just weren't exceptional like the others. Mapo tofu - not my favorite mapo tofu I've had. Not bad, but again, not amazing like some of the other dishes. Maybe 5/10 spicy - a little too hot for me. I've only ever gotten carry out, and the food is always ready really quickly. Additionally, there's a warmth from the employees that I really appreciate. Yummmmm!!! We love Szechuan food and we're very pleased that this place is close by. The spicy boiled fish is so, so good. Pair it with the cold cucumber appetizer and it is the best thing ever. We tried the Dan Dan noodles and the Chong qing chicken and both were pretty good. The Chong Qing chicken does come with small bones so that was the only somewhat annoying bit. This place has noodles in its name, but they seem to focus on Sichaun food (川菜). I love sichaun peppercorn and the numbing spiciness it brings to dishes. However, the Sichaun Boiled Fish （水煮鱼) was light on the numb. It was good but not great. The pork intestine was a little too vinegary for my taste, but it was cleaned well. I have searched Yelp on a somewhat regular basis for Dan Dan noodles. Perusing what seems to be limited options, and feeling annoyed that there isn't more Sichuan food in Denver. Well clearly there must have been a hole in my searching, because one day I came across Noodles Express, and my prayers were answered. I enlisted a friend to help me consume an obscenely large delivery order (placed through Door Dash), because I was too excited to order sensibly. We mixed in some milder dishes in case the heat was too much. All in all we got: -Cucumbers--Spicy and refreshing! (Probably the hottest dish we had, and I couldn't stop eating them). -Pork Buns--Perfect Fluffy tasteballs. -Dan Dan Noodles--Yum! Going forward I would request to have it pre-mixed like another reviewer noted to make sure it's (even) perfection. -Eggplant with Garlic Sauce--Fantastically silky and flavorful, but like others have noted this came with added **pork** though it's not specified in the menu description. -Twice Cooked Fish--Absolutely tantalizing. Loved every bite! -Mongolian Beef--Solidly delicious non-spicy offering. -Bok Choy with Garlic--I found this to be the least exciting dish, but it was a generous portion and served our purpose of cutting the spice. I had requested wide noodles for the Dan Dan, but they were out; the restaurant took the step to call to confirm regular noodles were fine, which I found to be very considerate. The food was ready promptly for pickup (from what I could tell via Door Dash), and it came expertly and securely boxed. (The level of commitment to make sure things arrived in perfect order was impressive.) The kicker of course was that the food was out of this world. Not many near meat-free options. No add ons or changes in menu items. You can only adjust spice level. Noodles Express has a small handful of noodle dishes in spite of their moniker. I asked for garlic bok choy. It comes with rice. Cannot substitute for noodles and cannot add a side of noodles. I asked for Dan Dan Noodles. I asked about the sauce and told it was spicy. I asked for no spice and add veggies. They won't add veggies. Get home and the container has a handwritten note that said "please mix well." It was thin spaghetti noodles with NO SAUCE. So I presume the sauce is spicy and cannot be adjusted. No spice=no sauce. I atop was ground peanuts, cooked cabbage, al dente soy beans and ground pork (about 2Tbs of each). The menu said nothing about meat. I picked off the pork and gave it to my FIVE cats who refused to touch it. Noodles were gummy and disgusting! Tossed it all out $19 down the drain. read more
