    Scallion Pancake
    Sean B.

I decided to step outside our usual comfort zone and try something new, and this place absolutely delivered. We ordered the Spicy Cumin Lamb along with scallion pancakes, and both dishes were outstanding. The lamb was incredibly tender with a perfect balance of flavors -- warm cumin, just the right amount of spice, and beautifully caramelized onions and peppers. Nothing was overpowering; every bite was layered and incredibly satisfying. You can tell the kitchen really understands how to balance bold seasoning without overwhelming the dish. One thing that really stood out was how flavorful the dish was without feeling heavy or overly greasy like some saucier Chinese dishes can be. It was rich and satisfying, but didn't leave that overly full or overly thirsty feeling afterward, which we really appreciated. The scallion pancakes were equally impressive -- crispy on the outside, flaky and savory on the inside, and clearly made with care. They paired perfectly with the lamb and were a fantastic way to start the meal. The food tasted authentic, fresh, and thoughtfully prepared. If you enjoy flavorful, well-balanced dishes and want to explore regional Chinese cuisine beyond typical takeout favorites, this restaurant is absolutely worth visiting. We will definitely be coming back to try more dishes, especially their fish options next time. Highly recommended.

Glad there's parking in the back! This neighborhood Chinese restaurants looks upgraded from a strip mall one of the same kind. I can tell the goers are from the neighborhood and just hanging out in a warm afternoon. Neither my friend nor I want anything spicy which was ironic given the name of the restaurant and the fact that they serve Sichuan cuisine. After looking over the lunch specials, which were all pretty affordable, she settled for Hunan chicken with fried rice. The fried rice looked to me like white rice with soy sauce added, no bueno. But the chicken was not spicy, to my surprise! I thought Hunan region is known for their spicy food... I spotted the Chow Mein and asked if it's crispy noodles or more like lo mein. Was told the latter so I ordered it since I didn't want anything deep fried. After my friend got her food, our waiter came out with non-stop apologies that the chow mein is indeed deep fried to golden crispy. That's ok, I told him, and asked to switch to Beef Chow Fun. It came out pretty quickly and the portion was quite big. I don't remember if it was from the dinner menu though. The thing I liked most about my dish was that they used soy bean sprouts, which are pretty rare in beef chow fun (usually it's mung bean sprouts). I can only give Wok Spicy 3 stars for the non-spicy dishes. Perhaps the spicy dishes will surprise me, I'll have to come back and find out!

It's a little out of the way, but still on the route home. It used to be Twin Dragon for many years. Now it's been remodeled, and the staff are super friendly and attentive! The renovation has made the place feel much more open and bright. We ordered the scallion pancake, beef in dry wok, and crispy fried pork. The pancake is perfectly deep-fried, making it really crispy. The Beef Fry Wok has that numbing spiciness that's just amazing!! The crispy pork is just as good! I will definitely come back!!!!

My second trip here and back to try some of the other authentic Sichuan dishes because I was impressed the first time. They do have a menu with American Chinese food, but didn't order any of that. We started off with the Spicy Couple Delight, or sometimes called Husband and Wife Lung Slices. Braised beef shank and beef tripe, served room temperature with cucumber, cilantro and sesame seeds, drizzled with a spicy fragrant chili oil. The beef was tender and so was the tripe. Was hoping that beef heart would be included in some other variations I've had in the past, but none to be found. Cumin Lamb was very good and tender with lots of cumin flavor. The star of the show is definitely the green beans, it's charred on the outside, so the skin on the beans aren't papery/chewy. Just well seasoned with a tiny bit of pork and ample wok hei. Was a little disappointed with the twice-cooked pork belly. It really seemed more like a cabbage dish with a small amount of pork belly. The flavor was there with the funk of the fermented bean paste, just expected less vegetables and more meat. If you're looking for authentic Sichuan dishes, definitely don't skip the mapo tofu and Chongqing Chili chicken which were excellent on my previous trip. A must visit if you're looking for bold flavors and authentic dishes that are hard to find elsewhere around town.

New favorite! Some of the best I've ever had actually, the Sichuan chili wontons were so ridiculously good I ate them before I could take a picture. The chongquing chicken was incredible, 10/10. The garlic ginger beef was not our favorite, but was fine for what it was. Totally will order from here again!

My husband and I have had our eyes on trying this place out. They have their own little parking area which is amazing for being on Broadway. We came here with a group and we were able to try quite a few dishes. We really liked the Cumin lamb and the pickled greens with fish. Also, we have tried their baos and they are very large, but tasty. They do have a party room too, which is helpful if you need space to hold a party. Their dishes for parties are a bit more on the pricey side, but their food was good. Everyone loved the tofu fish dish and the pickled cucumbers were a fresh addition to our spread. I'll definitely be back to try out more of their menu.

I love this place. True to the name almost everything on the menu has a little chili icon next to it. The deep fried shell on shrimp was suggested, and while it tasted great, with a nice bit of kick, you either had to eat them with shells on (which I find unpleasant) or else remove the shells and with it the light, crusty batter. A shame because it's so great. The staff is always at a top level of service and the vibe is clean and bright and open.

We dined in recently so I wanted to share photos of our dishes. Everything from the appetizer menu was spectacular. It was my first time trying Wok Spicy's Takoyaki and bao. The Takoyaki was great and the octopus was cooked perfectly. I suggest waiting for them to cool down a bit, as eating the piece whole gives you the best umami and crunch with everything. We also ordered duck and pork belly bao buns. I was a bit disappointed with the bao. The filling was minimal compared to the bun portion, and the texture was foamy and difficult to chew. However, the filling of each was delicious and I just wish I had more of it and that the bun was steamed.

    Cucumber in Garlic Dressing

I love this place! Garlic cucumbers are 10 out of 10. The Orange chicken is fried crispy and battered perfectly, paired with White rice - fluffy and steamed. The hot and sour soup is full of tender mushrooms & the broth is tangy & spicy- absolutely delicious. I've dined in twice, and had a To-go order once- great prompt service and comfortable dining room with mostly booths.

To start off, staff is really nice and attentive so service is really good. They weren't busy when we got there but we did arrive at like 7:30. It's a big space with plenty of spacing between tables. We ordered a variety of items. My favorites were the cumin lamb and Mongolian beef. Both dishes were flavorful and the heat was not overbearing. It was just right to make the dishes taste really well. So those two are recommended dishes. Everything else we had ordered was just okay. They weren't a standout. The dry pot was interesting but not what I was expecting. The cucumbers and eggplant were pretty good veggie dishes to compliment the meal. I would avoid the salt and pepper tofu because it was just fried tofu without any seasoning. It was quite bland.

My group of 7 shared the roasted pork, pork and duck barbecue. I'm not a fan of duck so it would not be fair for me to write anything about it, but those who loved duck meat said that this place serve wonderful barbecue duck. As for the pork, both roasted and barbecue, they were so good. We had a little bit of white rice to eat with the meat, but really, you don't need the extra rice in order to eat these two types of pork meats. Since both styles of the pork were prepared differently, I cannot say one is better than the other: they were both delicious. The crunchiness and the flavorful from the roasted pork, as well as the aroma and the soft chewy from the barbecue pork, brings this dining experience to the next level. We also ordered the yu stir fry choy sum in garlic, the combination fried rice, and salt and pepper shrimp. I highly recommend the yu choy and shrimp dishes. I would skip the fried rice and get their beef chow fun, which is exactly what my other group of 6 did. In addition to what were mentioned above, they ordered Chinese broccoli, daikon and beef in clay pot, Taishan five spice duck, salted fish & chicken fried rice. Everyone enjoyed their food and dining experience here. Conversations were easily understood and heard. When asked what their favorite dish was, all of us said we liked everything, but when pressed to give one special dish, several folks mentioned the roasted pork, the clay pot, and the salt and pepper shrimp. Service here was excellent. The manager was very accommodating to our large group of diners, coming back and making sure we are doing fine as he refilled our water glasses. We opted for a 3 item bbq plate - roast duck, roast pork and bbq pork (char siu). The bbq pork was fine, nothing special but the highlight was the roast duck and pork. The skin on the duck is still crispy, and had a good ratio of fat to meat and bones. Some places make it with a strong star anise flavor, but HKB does not. The flavor on the duck is sooo good and not too salty. The roast pork was juicy and the skin super crunchy! They gave a solid portion too. I'd spend my $20 on this any day! The 2 item and 3 item bbq options are on a separate lunch menu, but I'm not sure if it's offered daily or just weekdays. The rice plates come with some steamed chinese broccoli and a big scoop of rice. They also provide the bbq with a little dipping sauce. It pairs well with the greens, but is a tad bit salty so use sparingly. We also ordered beef chow fun, dry style. The beef slices are tender, the chow fun has that good wok hei flavor, nice and smoky. I do wish the noodles were a tad bit wider but overall, very solid dish. Sesame balls look/taste like the pre made frozen kind. It had a good chew, solid red bean filling and you get a ton for $5. The service here is nice and friendly. They give you giant cups of water and will check on you to refill it as well. It's in a plaza, lots of shared parking spaces and they do take CC for payment.
