Where to start! If you're looking for actual good Chinese food. This is the place!! They do have another location (which I have not been too) so I can only speak to this location. This is my family & I 2nd time here in Denver and after finding this place the 1st visit we make it a point to come to this location. We're located in Georgia so I think we have a good sense of good Chinese. I always get the Mongolian beef with fried rice (no egg; I'm allergic) My husband always gets the General Tso chicken with the fried rice and he ALWAYS orders this and never has a complaint. My son gets the Sesames chicken also with fried rice and it's sweet and crunchy as they fry the chicken to mix in their sauce and it's worth every penny. Every time! Service sometimes can be short in communication but expected especially when they're working all day and don't have time to eat but their food never misses! The service was great, everyone was super friendly and attentive. We were seated and served very quickly. Wow. Let me start by saying that the hot and sour soup is hands down the BEST I've ever had. We also ordered a cup each and not a bowl, and it was a large cup!! Portion sizes are large here! We also ordered the cheese Rangoons and those were super yummy. No crabby flavor which I like :) For our entree, we got the general tso's chicken. It was yummy, crispy, and saucy! Always have such an amazing time here. The food is always on point. The dishes are huge servings. Everything comes out hot and fresh tasting and very timely. The service is amazing and the people are so kind and helpful. Crystal and I both love coming here. It's near our neighborhood and we love walking here! We have also gotten take out and delivery and our favorite is to sit in and eat. We indulge in some cocktails at times but they also have plenty of NA options as well. Just ordered from here for take out and it was so good! We got orange beef (comes with veggies) with added fried rice, vegetable lo mein, and crab ragoons. Pepper is always a must when we have guests visiting. This was my first time at this location and WOW I felt like it was such a fancy restaurant vs the Colfax location. I did not get the name of our sweet server but she was professional, knowledgeable and caring. The food is beyond!! I literally can taste the drunken noodles. The portions are huge so there is no doubt you can enjoy your leftovers the following day for lunch. What really amazed us was the foot traffic for takeaway meals. We were very impressed by our to go dishes! Everything was packaged nicely and was still hot by the time we got it home. We got the drunken noodles and General Tsos chicken. My husband got both medium, but the drunken noodles leaned more hot, and the Tsos chicken leaned more mild. My husband doesn't care for broccoli, so they did extra peppers and that was perfect. They did mention it is cheaper to order to go through them rather than grub hub, so something to keep in mind. 10/10. We selected this restaurant based off of Yelp reviews once we landed in Denver for a family vacation. The service was very good. The ambiance was a casual seating environment. i LOVE pepper. i always have such a great experience here. i have ordered takeout here for years and have dined in a couple of times now. my friend and i popped in for lunch. parking lot + street parking. seated immediately. chicken dumplings in hot sauce are phenomenal. lunch specials came with a side, so i had sesame chicken + hot and sour soup + steamed rice. my friend had chicken & broccoli + fried rice + egg rolls. every single thing was fantastic! I've had many of their beef noodle dishes, beef and broccoli, sweet and sour chicken, lettuce wraps, cream cheese wontons, the list goes on. Kinda low key spot that turned out to be great! Open late, humble decor, and attentive service, the menu includes a wide variety of rice, noodle, and curry dishes. Initially I thought it would be mediocre quality but I ordered a very tasty drunken noodle was very decently priced with a large serving. Overall, a good spot to try with some really nice flavors. The standouts for us were the Drunken Noodles and the Spicy Chicken with Basil -- both were packed with flavor and had a great kick. The Basil Shrimp Fried Rice was also solid and satisfying. The Panang Curry was a bit of a letdown flavor-wise compared to the other dishes. Had dinner with my lawyer and his friend. We picked this place because of its central location and the high Yelp review average. It is in an area of town that parking is usually a nightmare but they have their own off street parking lot that is quite spacious. So, parking wasn't an issue at all. The building is beautiful and I enjoyed the Japanese decor inside. The bar area is really attractive open space. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and accommodating. Drinks came fast and were never dry. The food options were great and the menu was expansive with many great choices. I opted for sesame shrimp and it was incredible. The shrimp were so large I had to cut them into thirds to eat them. The sauce they flavored the dish with was mouth watering. The entire meal and the meeting were fabulous. They have a really nice outdoor eating section I want to try next time. It was one hundred degrees outside and just too hot to enjoy meal away from air conditioning. A little overhyped... more like a 3.5 not a 4.5. Service was fast and efficient. While busy, the food was ok. Portion sizes were generous even on the lunch menu. But the taste wasn't memorable. The edamame was far too salty, the basil beef was decent but the fried rice was a little too bland and was cooked with too much soy sauce. The egg rolls were solid on the other hand, but I wouldn't venture out here just for the egg rolls. I had a small wonton soup to start. It is very delicious. The wonton was perfectly made and the broth was on par. Not gonna lie, the food exceeded our expectations. We originally were headed to a new restaurant next door and once we caught wind of the wait time, we said to ourselves, "Chinese food it is!" One person in our party had been here before and confirmed it was great. Now I LOVE me some Chinese food, but sometimes I get skeptical of these Asian fusion type of places with larger menus. All the items can't be good, right? Well, maybe here at Pepper they can? We started with some beers and apps. Specifically the Cheese Wontons ($7.50) and Potstickers ($8.25). Each of them come with 6 per order so it's definitely a good deal. I prefer when wontons have crab in them, so these were just okay for me. BUT THE POTSTICKERS GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY. These were divine. Meaty, tons of umami flavors from the sauce, and freshly prepared. Our table LOVED them. I was skimming through the menu with no direction. Lost without a cause. I had no idea what I wanted for my entrée. As I went back and forth for minutes (which felt like an eternity) I landed on my staple Chinese American dish, General Tso's Chicken. You can really never go wrong with it IMO. The dinner meal runs you $14.50 but the portions are massive. It was well sauced, sweet, sticky and spicy. Chicken was extremely tender and was accompanied by bell peppers and broccoli. I subbed for fried rice ($1 upcharge) and it's totally worth the George Washington in your wallet. And the leftovers the following day absolutely slapped. I can't believe I've driven by this place for years without ever popping in. Maybe we ordered it for takeout or delivery, but I can't remember. We met up with some friends here for Chrismukkah last night! The place was SLAMMED, but our friends managed to get a table since we were running late (blizzard; accidents). They were comically understaffed. One of us ordered a cocktail that never showed up so had to get a glass of wine instead. We ordered two apps of spring rolls but only one came out. The rest of our orders were delivered, and we have to say that the food was pretty good if you're looking for that Americanized version, which we most certainly were. Does anything say ChanukahxChristmas miracle better than General Tso's? No, we didn't think so! Speaking of the General, that dish was far sweeter than we like it, but the chicken was crispy enough. Spring rolls and dumplings were good, as was the steamed vegetable dish that came out with a nice sauce on the side. We really loved the string beans with garlic and basil, and the drunken noodles with tofu were also satisfying. The fried rice was just OK, and both kids devoured the white rice. One thing that was especially annoying aside from the VERY limited service we received was that they had tablecloths on tables that were attached to a wall, which therefore kept bunching up and sliding everywhere, a real nuisance with all the plates and kids' toys, etc. We would have far preferred whatever surface was underneath! Anyway. The overall experience was really more like 2.5 stars, but we're rounding up in the Chrismukkah spirit. read more
