Sure, I've had better drinks. But I haven't had cheaper drinks on happy hour special in YEARS. And these are tasty. Phil's is reasonably priced, and delicious for the money. Their happy hour is unreal. Almost all their drinks are $5 or $6, and their loaded fries are $5 or $6 too--huge portion of fries topped with one of their meats, and cheese. I wish it were about 5 times the cheese, but you gotta cut costs somewhere. Their wings are good, my family of 4 can split a baby back ribs meal for $32, and we can leave happy and full. My son graduated college yesterday and we went for lunch. We were greated right away and was suggested we sit in bar, 6 of us, and Jesse would take care of us. He did an amazing job. The service was quick as well as getting our food. Everything was perfect, we tried quite a few items and all were great. The ambiance was also great. Great BBQ and wonderful service. We were starving about 9pm the other night. I looked up something in the area that would still be open. We found Phil's BBQ on Yelp and headed over. We were surprised to see how full it was. The vibes were awesome with a lot of happy customers. So we walked up to the counter where we met a smiling lady ready to guide us through the process of ordering from the expansive menu. Lots of yummy items to choose from. We chose beef ribs and Tri-Tip. The ribs were good but I preferred the Tri-tip. The sides we ordered were Mac salad, french fries, beans, and cole slaw. Been a fan of Phils since 2012 and i remember it being one of the best places to go for BBQ, especially for beef ribs. The bbq was good but i couldn't wrap my head around the price and quality. Had a decently sized order for to go. Before leaving, our cashier had went over the order with us, but had messed up on two sides. Little disappointing to find out after arriving home. We've been wanting to try out Phil's ever since we would always see a line outside the San Diego (Sports Arena) location. I always thought, with that line, it must be the best ever. So I finally got to try it, and yeah it was good. Was it great? Was it the best? It was okay, for the hype that I always pictured in my head. So the Phil's BBQ sauce is delicious, sweet with a bit of kick. I would say that this is the best part of the food. The flavor. I got the baby back ribs and chicken. They were both good but I was not blown away. The ribs were pretty burnt on a couple pieces, but the chicken was good. The portion was okay, but not worth the $25. The choice was to have the sauce on the side or directly on the food so I had them put on the food directly. Once I started, there was barely any over the ribs. The baked beans were tasty, but the cold slaw wasn't as much. My wife got a garden salad with a side of chicken. The salad was just lettuce and maybe 2 tomatoes. So $8 for a head of lettuce and 3 more to add chicken. Total fan of BBQ but in the increasing competition of chains, I think the portion here is not impressive for the price. Even though the food is actually good I just think you would get more for the money. With prices not much different, you pay close to the same amount at Lucille's or Woodranch (which are both better overall). This location is super clean and the staff was also good. Although the potato salad was not the potato salad I am used to eating, it didn't have raisins so not going to say it wasn't a good dish. The beans were everything baked beans were supposed to be. We miss the North San Diego County Phil's that used to be in San Marcos. So we eat here whenever we are in an area that has one. Temecula's location has quick service & a large restaurant so chances of getting a table after ordering, even on a busy Saturday afternoon, is doable. The food was great as always with generous portions. They had one of my favorite IPAs (Alpine Duet) as their $5 beer-of-the-month. The "Broham" pulled pork sandwich is a poor excuse for "pulled pork". It was dry "chewy-tough" This indicates they are not cooking it slow and long. A 'Pork Butt' source of pulled pork should be cooked low for 8-12 hours, cooking fast results in this. Over priced - tried a little before pulling out of Parking. The pork ribs were good. Some piece fell off the bone while others were a little stuck. Can't go wrong with fries. Mac salad was subtle. Today I went in with my son, he had a plain hamburger, I had a Caesar salad and a side of tri-tip. The salad was large enough but otherwise was *meh*. His hamburger and fries weren't anything special, but he was happy with them. Drink refills were great, counter and table staff were attentive, the wait wasn't long. The brisket was fabulous, thin sliced in just the right amount of barbecue sauce, and melt-in-my-mouth. Go for the meats.
