Fantastic place, the food is delicious as are the drinks. The ribless and chickless dinners are my personal favorites. My husband and I go occasionally, and I greatly enjoy trying their seasonal offers. The staff is always friendly and fast, and the atmosphere is typical of a sports bar. One thing I will say though is that the seating is a bit odd, you order your food first and then find a place to sit. I've been wanting to try Phil's BBQ since first seeing it in San Diego last year. The closest we got was the outlet at San Diego airport. So, when I saw that there was one adjacent to Promenade Temecula, I went over to have lunch. Whoa, the menu is vast and one must choose wisely. I did not; I chose the El Toro because I wanted brisket but Phil's doesn't have brisket. They offer tri-tip. So, an El Toro with fries. Will that be small or large? I opted for large not realizing HOW LARGE that is. I got my plate ($22.28) and wondered who was going to consume all of the fries (and I LOVE fries). I must have suffered a brain f**t because there were more attractive offerings once I was seated awaiting my order. And, I didn't realize there was a bar where I could have enjoyed a beer or something stronger than my Diet Coke. Duh! Anyway, my El Toro was okay but next time I will order ribs or the sampler so I can get cole slaw. And, ask for the sauce on the side. The order taker asked but I didn't realize how much sauce they would put on my sandwich. The sauce overwhelmed everything else. The Diet Coke didn't help. So, my negative feelings about my experience were my own doing and I can't downgrade Phil's for my poor choices. A return visit or two is needed before I can come up with a numeric rating. Wait in line, order, get seated, then you pick up your food. Beer etc is separately purchased from the bar area. The worker that handled the line repeatedly asked my 91 year old father if he wanted a seat while we waited in line. When it was our turn for a table the manager escorted my father to our table while we ordered. The bartender was kind in fact two of them got our three beers together in a timely manner filled to the brim and cold. Professional and kind people in a higher number of people to serve atmosphere. Originally tried Phil's BBQ in San Diego and liked it so decided to try the Temecula location too. Overall, really nice staff and good food. They are courteous, polite, and attentive and they have some good bbq options. For the baby back ribs, if you're looking for a more tender and juicier option, get them with the bones in. The boneless baby back rib pieces are more on the tougher and dry side. For sides, I recommend the macaroni and potato salad. The french fries were a bit dry and bland so I probably wouldn't order those again. Baked beans are on the sweeter side so if you like that, you will enjoy them. Besides these little critiques, everything is really good and the ambience in the restaurant is nice. Their barbecue sauce has an amazing taste. Only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because I believe it is quite expensive for the portions they give. A couple pieces of meat and 2 sides will run you anywhere from $23-$30. So it can get expensive if you're bringing a large family with you. I believe the prices should either be cheaper or the portions bigger. First visit and won't be back. Nothing against the staff, all our interactions were friendly. The line was short and that was nice. My gf and I ordered separately from the other 2 in my group. The other 2 got their food in 10 minutes. 20 minutes later my gf and I still didn't have ours. Was told it's because the sauceless chicken takes longer. 35 minutes after the time on our receipt we finally got our food (and the other 2 in our group had finished eating by this time). The ribs were good but the chicken was SO dry it would hardly cut with the knife. Macaroni salad had zero taste. I've been going to Phil's for ages (back when their first location was in SD). We were bummed when the location right by us in San Marcos closed, but were so excited to visit this location today (with family who lives up here). Unfortunately my chicken and ribs were BEYOND dry and tough. They literally tasted like they were put in the microwave MULTIPLE times, forgotten about, and then thrown in the microwave again. Absolutely horrible. I should have said something and returned them, but we were in a hurry and didn't have time to wait for another order. The veggies were crazy soggy. Needless to say, I pretty much ate fries and choked down a few bites of the tough and dry meat to get some protein in. It was nothing like I remember Phil's being. Photo looks great, but my meal was a 1/10 thanks to the week old tasting meat, which should have been the star of the show :( read more

The Beef Rib Dinner comes with 3 huge ribs, 1 large side or 2 small sides. Get the small sides it's enough for 2-3 people. Both those entrees are less than $50!!! Phil's used to be good but isn't anymore. Dined with a group of family members on Friday and was disappointed all around. Prices have gone up but food quality has gone down. The onion rings were extremely greasy when served and the ribs were not tender and tough. The ribs were over cooked and had very little meat on them. Tom's burgers serves less greasy and cheaper onion rings that taste better. We will go to Chili's next time to fix our rib craving. Why does Phil's charge more to give less? It's been years since I last ate here, but luckily they opened a location closer than SD. I got the beef ribs with a side of potato salad and fries. I don't remember what I ordered the first time I tried this place since it's been so long, but the beef ribs were hitting, especially with that sauce. The fries weren't bad, but it could have used a bit more salt. The potato salad didn't have my favorite flavor, so I'd probably pass on that next time. I also got to try their cornbread, which was not anything special, but I would eat it if it was there. My niece decided she wanted Phil's barbecue. She likes the Temecula location. So we drove out to Temecula we always park in front of the outdoor dining for some reason. No one else parks there so parking is easy. We placed our order. I usually order the five rib combo but they discontinued it a while back so now it's three ribs and if you want a fourth or a fifth, it's like 10 bucks a rib. I think they should bring back the five rib combo, but I guess too many people probably shared a rip from it. I don't know. Place the order was told my corn would be a 10 or 15 minute wait The server did offer me a different side as a fill-in until the corner arrived. I thought that was pretty cool. I opted for the beans. The beans were good. They were hot and I mean very hot. I ate all three ribs. The beans were still hot. As I finished the third rib, my corner arrived thought about eating it there, but decided to take it home and have it tomorrow as part of my lunch The front staff who took our orders are very friendly and professional.
