I wanted to like Phenix Square Restaurant more than my couple of experiences afforded. The restaurant does have some things going for it... the customer service is on par, food is served quickly, prices are fantastic. Located near to the Pawtuxet River and across from a common park space (which in the wintertime is decorated beautifully for Christmas), sufficient parking may be located on the road. Both visits, I ordered the "Manhandler" which given the options, I opted for a heap of scrambled eggs, French toast, bacon, toast and homefries. Perhaps I experienced some bad luck but across the meals, I found egg shells in my eggs, relatively thin (versus hearty) slices of French toast, and underwhelming flavor in the homefries. One visit, my cup of white milk had a healthy dose of dirt particles floating at the top. The interior does show signs of aging, which normally I feel adds character to a place, but combined with the dirty glassware in which my beverage was served, gave me a sense of dinge instead of history. As my rating entails, I've experienced better at like institutions.

I was so disappointed the food came out quickly but wasn't even warm butter wasn't even spread just slapped on the English muffins which tasted very stale and the eggs were very watery -coffee had a sour taste and worse of all the homefries were more grease than there wereo potatoes. Honestly it was just a very sad state of events and the waitress wasn't very comforting as she told me" no one else complained" as I looked around there were 3 other customers -it wasn't fair that they served such medioca food when people today deserve much better!

First time visiting Phenix, it really through me back into the past the Diners I visited as a kid. Its Situated at Phenix Square , a true Ole Americana Village within the City Limits of West Warwick and Coventry Line. Yes Dated but it has its Charm!...Service was amazing, Breakfast was Delicious, We ordered the Phenix Omelet, a mix of veggies and meats, and The Pepperoni Omelet, they both came with homefries, toast and a great cup of Joe!!! Loved the home town atmosphere folks coming in greeting each other, prices can not be beat! it will keep regular coming back and newbies say WOW!!..A must come, visit and eat place ,after you enjoyed something from their meny..you can go outside and seat at the Square or cross the street to the Beautiful Walk/Bike Path!!..I will give lunch or dinner a try next trip!! ..Supporting Small places like Phenix we won't loose that Spirit of Community and Better Days!!..till next time!!

We decided after Austin suggested the cornbread corn chowder to start. It was very creamy , tasty and a perfect temperature. We also enjoyed the crab croquettes and mussels. Also outstanding. You won't find a more unique place to dine in the area. I was told the decor changes with the seasons! Which I definitely will want to check out. The outside seating is also adorable and inviting. This is my second trip over and I have to say it didn't disappoint.

Rating: 4.3 Came to…read moretry this place as my mother really liked it when she came before. It's a unique restaurant that looks like a regular house converted into a restaurant. The restaurant has a tree house in front of the entrance which explain the name of the place. Inside is beautifully decorated with flowers, books, old books and decorations. It's a busy place so we made a reservation. We were taken to one of the table and were seated right away. They offer various different type of dishes including sandwich, seafood, mac and cheese, salad, pizza and more. We ended up getting few things to share with the group. We got tree house tavern salad, special Thai mussel, sweet potato pizza, lobster mac and cheese, and whipped feta and ricotta. Everything end up arriving all at once. Treehouse tavern salad was slightly sweet and refreshing with candied walnut, apple and vinegary dressing. Thai mussel was flavorful with hint of Thai curry and coconut flavor. The broth paired very well with baguette. Sweet potato pizza was cheesy and savory with hint of sweetness from the sweet potato. Lobster mac and cheese was cheesy and flavorful with lobster chunks. Whipped feta and ricotta was sweet and savory pairing well with the baguette. All the food was tasty and easy very unique for the most part. We also had their desert which they bring full samples of all their desert to show. We ended up sharing cheese cake because we were pretty full. Service was good but the place was but the server was but awkward as little details were missing from the service. Lack of trays for mussel shells, brought desert with candle as it was my birthday but was blown out because of the fan. The server turned off the fan but left it off so it was hot inside for a while. I think service could use a bit more attention. Overall the place was good and food was excellent. They offer unique dishes you don't often find in other restaurants. The ambience is also nice and it reminds me of old time tree house. I would go back again m.

She showed me to my table, brought a carafe of water, and welcomed me in. I was quickly welcomed by Sergio, my server, who shared the special and the soup of the day. Once I ordered my soda I took in the ambiance of the bar, new lights, and the rest of the restaurant. It's not a large building but they make every inch count. Now, the reason you're reading this review- THE FOOD. I ordered the Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The chicken (photo below) was perfectly cooked, topped with hot honey, slaw, pickles, and ranch then placed on a soft brioche bun. The meal was reasonably priced as well at $33 which included tip. I will absolutely be back to the Shanty next time I'm in town.

Our waitress was very nice and patient with us while we took awhile to order. I got the grilled chicken sandwich and my friend got the ceasar wrap. The fries were great, sandwiches were also really good! Would like to come back and get one of their main dishes as they all sounded pretty good. We got the bread pudding for dessert (sorry forgot the photo) but that was really good!! Would get again.

There was a strong Korean presence, which always feels like a good sign when you're looking for something authentic and a bit outside the norm. I was especially excited to try gopchang (grilled intestines), and it ended up being both new and oddly familiar. The texture is definitely different, but not off-putting at all. When you think about it, sausage comes from similar ingredients, so it's not as foreign as it might sound. Having had sweetbreads and offals before, some of the flavor notes felt recognizable, which made it easier to appreciate. Other items, like the thin-sliced brisket, were more familiar and just as enjoyable. Everything we had was fresh and well-prepared. The space itself is clean, bright, and welcoming, with K-pop videos playing and a solid selection of Korean drinks like soju and Milkis to round things out. The side dishes were creative and accessible, including corn cheese, steamed eggs, house salad, and japchae noodles. The egg fried rice was excellent as well, and a great complement to the meats. Our group ranged from adventurous to more cautious eaters, and everyone genuinely enjoyed the experience. Cooking at the table took a minute to get used to, but it was part of the fun and easy to pick up. Service was friendly and helpful throughout. The ventilation was very good and not overly smoky, which can sometimes be an issue at Korean BBQ spots. It is a bit on the pricier side, but for a special occasion or a night out to try something new, it felt justified. This works well either as a fun date night or with a small group so you can try a variety of dishes. Even dessert was a highlight, creative and well executed. This is the kind of place that feels like a special night out, and we would absolutely go back.
