I had to get bloodwork today so I stopped to get breakfast afterwards at a local favorite, Rick & Dee's. It's been a while since I've gone because I like to sleep in on the weekends. What a delightful little spot! Terrific service from Tina and Paul my friend and I enjoyed pancakes and an egg sandwich. Only thing missing would be real maple syrup, which I'd be more than willing to pay for w/ an up charge. The coffee was spot on, better tasting than most ---happily surprised. My son has a wrestling tournament every year at Coventry Highschool. Last year, I looked on Yelp for breakfast suggestions in an area I am not as familiar. Rick & Dee's came up as a suggestion. There is a period of time after checkin until the public is welcome to the tournament. So a good breakfast is what I needed to last the day at the tournament. I had a great breakfast there last year. This year I was looking forward to going back. I had 2 eggs, toast and home fries. It was good I ate forgetting to take a picture. I also got a blueberry muffin grilled. My husband was the first to let me know you could ask for muffins grilled and now it's my favorite way to have them. I had a hot chocolate since it was so cold out today. It was a great breakfast. The decor is a 50's them. They have decorations outside and the decor is continues inside. Everyone is very friendly. They know their locals very well and are also welcoming to non locals. I ate at the counter and had the pleasure to have lovely conversations with Paul who works there and is so nice. If you are ever in Coventry, you should check this place out. They have a nice big parking lot in the back of restaurant. read more

What a great place to visit and have breakfast! You can't miss it!! There are lots of '50's/ and '60's statues and items from the past on their front porch!! Wait til you go in though! It's a very intimate place, kind of like going to your friends for breakfast or lunch. Fair warning, close quarters, make friends!! This place is full of memorabilia of days gone by. Welcome to the fifties! Enjoy the casual diner atmosphere and memorabilia. The pumpkin muffin tasted just like homemade. The fluffy Cranberry Walnut pancake was filling and delicious, although they didn't have "real" maple syrup. (I didn't take off a star for that since Rhode Island is in Southern New England.) Eggs benny had the right proportion of eggs, Canadian bacon, and hollandaise sauce, and the English muffins were toasted well so they didn't get too soggy. Cheddar and mushroom omelet was cooked exactly the way I requested. The servers were friendly, made small talk, served the orders efficiently, and kept the coffee filled. New to the area, so exploring. There's not many restaurants in Coventry/ West Greenwich, so I was excited to see this on my drive home from work. The place is small. I don't think you could have more than 40 patrons in the building at a time, a little bit on the loud side.... But you need to take into consideration it is a diner. Service was good. A great breakfast option!! Found on Knotty Oak Road nestled between Knotty Oak Baptist Church and Rice Memorial Field, this diner location is difficult to miss with its colorful façade and life-size Elvis, Betty Boop, and waitress figurines holding court outside. After parking in the small lot behind the business, my husband and I made our way up the ramp to enter its visually interesting interior. Seating is somewhat limited inside (at least during a busy weekend morning) but we visited closer to lunchtime and had no issue claiming two stools at the counter. Sitting here essentially placed us smack-dab in the middle of all the seating and afforded us a 360-degree view of all the 50s-themed signs, miniatures, train sets, cars, gas pumps, neon, coke products, sparkly-vinyl seating, etc! We both ordered the Hungry Man breakfast to sample a little bit of everything - eggs, bacon, sausages, ham, toast and homefries. The eggs were fluffy, bacon cooked to a delicious crisp, homefries flavorful, and toast well-buttered. This may be an odd observation but there's something to be said for a restaurant that butters the toast all the way to the edge instead of placing a small glob in the middle leaving more than half the toast dry. The diner clearly has some regulars that visit. It made for lively conversation throughout our stay. Customer service was great despite this. Sometimes its easy for staff to fall into easy conversations with the familiar faces around them and for newbies to feel a bit neglected but NOT HERE! Check ins were plentiful, drinks topped off... great service. Looking forward to dropping in again to continue to explore the menu. read more

Well I have to say definitely an old style diner. The decore has so many little things to look at. Fire trucks and trains. Any way the food was good but the wait was 25 minutes for breakfast. Maybe the 9 guys in the corner, obviously regulars were keeping the waitress preoccupied, might be the reason. Also we asked for coffee.....never got it. Not happy with the service what so ever. What a great little hidden spot! My wife and I were exploring about when we drove by this little place. It's off of a main road and behind a large church, so you may miss it but definitely do keep an eye open! We walked in and instantly realized this was a popular local spot. Everyone was delightfully friendly and even with us coming in a little later in the morning, they didn't rush us and were always very polite. I have eaten breakfast here three times. The food and service each time has been fine. Why I can't rate them any higher is because the place is so dang cramped, both the restaurant and the parking lot. Although it looks very interesting from the outside, the overwhelming presence of the amount of model trains, cars and 1950s-themed memorabilia indoors makes it downright claustrophobic to me. Plus it's very noisy inside, given the tight quarters. The last time I attempted to visit was on a Saturday morning with my stepson. There were no open booths or seats at the counter, and two parties ahead of us. There was no way I was going to stand in the middle of a noisy, cramped, claustrophobic diner to wait for seats to open up, so we left. Like I said, the food and service is good, and everyone should check it out at least once to satisfy their curiosity piqued by the interesting front of the building display. As for me, I've had my fill of Rick & Dee's, and am moving on to discover other breakfast places. (P.S. - I'm not really claustrophobic; I just like a little elbow room while I eat.) read more

First off, the interior is AMAZING and you can totally put your phones down and look around and talk about random things rather than zoning out. The coffee is hot and wonderful and quick to come out! The staff is on top of refills and top offs and they nailed my order. Hungry Man breakfast with the loaded home fries with bacon and raisin toast. Everything was cooked exactly how I ordered and it was delicious but I was really blown away by the home fries. They were some of, if not THE best home fries in the state. The food was decent, the prices were OK. However, if you are not a "regular" then don't expect to be given any sort of attention. We patiently waited for about 30 minutes for a booth to open and not one person even acknowledged that we were standing there. I understand that they are probably used to busy crowds and people waiting, however a little common courtesy goes a long way. We finally placed our order (which included coffee), but we had to wait over 20 minutes (at least) for someone to even come back and see if we wanted a refill. In fact, I don't think they came back to ask for a refill until they delivered our food. Meanwhile, the two waitresses were standing around at times, behind the counter, or sitting in booths with their friends, completely ignoring the people who were not the regulars at this establishment. Went here for the first time recently. It's a really tiny diner that's crowded with knick knacks. About 30 minutes after ordering the waitress tells us that our slip had fallen and the cook didn't see it. Our meals came out only a few minutes after that. The food was good. There's only a couple of restaurants that have breakfast home fries that I like and this is one of them so I think we'll definitely be back in the future. read more

Just discovered this place. It's COZY ! And classy. Love the poached eggs on cornbread, and the crepes. Friendly staff. Wish they had more coffee choices but hey it's a diner.
