Been here many time for events, one as recent as yesterday. There are two sides, one the main dining area and the other a bar with video games, pool tables and a modern juke box. The owners are constantly giving back to the community. Food is fair to average and the locals rave about their pizza. The menu is huge and the prices are good. We don't get out to Coventry that often, but when we do we stop at Old Theater Diner. Service is very good, staff pleasant and accommodating and food is served hot and delicious. For the money, the portions are quite generous. We've never left hungry and usually have a take-out box in tow. We really should try to go there more often because it's worth the trip. read more

Olde Theater Diner is more restaurant than diner. A small bar area is located at the back, up a few steps inside and accessible from the left side of the building. The main dining area is booth seating with two other dining area, one by the door, another in a sun filled addition to the left side. where you will find tables. There is also a function room on the right side where we attended an organization Christmas party some years back. See the hostess to be seated Food is diner type items such as a full on meatloaf meal, fish entrèe, Chicken parm, as well as sandwiches, burgers, pizza, apps and dessert. Something for just about everyone. Last visit I tried the taco salad. Theirs comes with black beans and a choice of ground beef or chicken in a flour tortilla bowl loaded with lettuce, tomato and cheese. This salad is huge. Banana peppers give it a slice kick with a medium salsa and sour cream side to mix in. Exellent dinner salad option. The chicken parm meal comes with spaghetti or ziti and is a large portion. You can also get the chicken parm as a sandwich if you prefer. Breakfast, lunch and dinner service. A local non-profit hosts an annual fund raiser here: a percentage of all meals eaten on a specific day goes to the non-profit organization. The restaurant does this often with local groups. Love that community spirit. Service is always friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking in front and to the side. Restrooms are by the door, a bit older but very clean. read more

Upbeat, positive experience everyone's really friendly. I have a friend that works in the kitchen. He came out to say hi to us even though he was slamming with service calls and stuff like that especially backed up due to tomorrow being the holiday, but the food was top-notch. It's always hot and fresh cooked as you weigh. It takes a little bit longer. It's definitely no pre-cooking here. It's quiet this morning and this is new time and luckily for us we're getting in before the rush is only about maybe I'll say 10 tables out of 30 that are taken right now. I'm in the main dining room. It was really wonderful. Everything's always clean and the people always friendly and you've never enough that they can do for you. Looking forward to coming again. the parmesan grinder had burned black chicken cutlets which were literally crunchy!! Hardly any cheese on top! The bread was ok but lately the food is awful here. We had a girls night out!! Yayyyyyyy I forgot to get pictures of our dinner but the special was a Pot roast dinner with two sides a drink and dessert. The roast was fork tender and flavor filled, mashed potatoes were good as well as the garlic sautéed green beans, crisp but cooked! Yummy The dessert....their desserts are ALWAYS AMAZING!! I had peanut butter pie and my cohorts had chocolate cream pie, both were yummmo!! We actually originally came to see and listen to Steve Smith and the Nakeds! They NEVER disappoint, even if the light show wasn't working! The band has three saxophones, a trumpet and a trombone as well as two, (or was it three?) guitarists, drums/percussion and a keyboardist. Then there's Steve, vocals and harmonica. THIS, this will make you smile, get up and dance, and laugh, their sense of humor and contact with the audience is amazing!!! Look them up and follow them , you won't be sorry you did! Ordered take out this week. They burned the pizza and it was ruined. Worse than the money or the wasted time is the fact that you get home and don't have anything to eat. Their only job everyday is to cook pizza and yet they still burn it. read more

We are long-term customers with this establishment. We have eaten there every week, sometimes three times a week! Our bill is always $80-100. But. The food and service has been consistently good. Until the other night! We picked up our food as normal and headed home. We are only 5 minutes away. We opened up the grinders and found that they were burnt so bad, it was't even edible, the way they sold it. We tried to salvage what we could by placing the grinders contents into new bread. My wife called them, they said they were sorry and they would replace them for free, the next time we went there. My wife called them, before looking at the two pizzas that came with the two grinders. The pizzas we so burnt, we could barely eat them. My wife said, I already called them about the grinders and I'm not going to call them back about the pizzas too, we'll just talk to them about it when we go back. We figured that it was just a fluke! As this usually doesn't happen. So, today we decided that we would go there for lunch. My wife called in our order, stating that there should be 2 free grinders, included with our next order. Simple, right? Except the person on the phone said my wife was lying, and that the 2 free grinders were already picked up by someone else... what? If this is how they treat their loyal customers, I'm all set with giving them my hard-earned money! Period. What a shame! I thought they were genuinely good people, but I guess they proved me wrong! I hope if you go there for food, you don't have any issues with it, or you might just be wasting $100. plus tip! We are working class, blue collar people, and $100. is still alot of money, to us... That's not right, that's not how you treat people! These 2 pictures are of the pizzas, as proof to Olde Theater, when we went back. We didn't think of taking any pictures until after my wife had "fixed" the two grinders, by replacing the burnt rolls, with bulky rolls, we had at home. My husband and I went there for breakfast for the first time today. The eggs were cold. The warm apples were cold. The coffee was like drinking dirty dish water and it was cold. We ordered Italian toast to come with our breakfast. I don't know what that was, but that was definitely not Italian bread. The server was very nice and very pleasant. The food here has never disappointed me. The boneless buffalo chicken tenders, the grilled chicken meal, and the Reuben sandwich were all delicious. We were served by a very attentive and friendly server. During our meal, we played keno, which was a lot of fun. It's been over 12 years since my original review. Definitely time to update that, as a lot has changed since then. Over time, this has become one of my favorite local businesses for a lot of reasons: 1. The menu is massive and everything that you would be interested in, regardless of your taste, is going to be good. I don't care how picky you are or what you like, you'll find something here that you like. 2. While you'll enjoy the food, you'll also enjoy the value. You get a LOT for your money here. It's almost guaranteed that you will bring some home with you. 3. The service is always friendly and do their best to make you feel like a regular here. It's definitely a place full of regulars (I am one), but you'll feel like one too when you stop in. It's a blue collar, laid back, comfortable place for anybody to enjoy their breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nothing pretentious about it. Nothing pretentious about the service or the clientele. They're here to give you some good food and make you feel welcome. 4. They are great for breakfast (super popular), lunch or dinner. But bonus, you can get either at certain times. When the power went out at my work at 10:30 AM and everyone went to breakfast, I mentioned to the waitress that I really wanted their pizza, because I get to work at 6:30 and already had breakfast. "No problem, honey." Pizza at 10:30 AM it is. 5. This is a GREAT community place. In a town full of chain restaurants, OTD sets itself apart with homestyle food, friendly service and they really give back generously to the community. The family who owns the restaurant employ lots of kids from our school, they are CONSTANTLY running fundraisers for clubs, activities and sports in town where they donate proceeds. They also support the schools with funds for various projects when needed. Small towns are blessed by businesses and people like this. 6. Also, from a gratefulness and nostalgic place, when COVID first happened, and people weren't allowed to gather for Thanksgiving dinner, OTD was making turkey dinners and that's where we got our dinner from that year and it was not only delicious but we were very thankful that they were out there working. I also know how many dinners they gave away to people who were hungry and needed help, and they collected money from people like me who were purchasing dinners for their own families to be able to feed others in the community. I won't forget that. I love a cup of chicken soup and a small chicken parm calzone (which is actually big for one person) when I'm in, but the American Chop Suey special and garlic bread is awesome as well, and always leaves enough for lunch the next day. But no matter what you get you'll be pretty happy. The pizza is really good here despite it being a diner/family style food place and not Italian or a pizzeria. I suggest getting the square over the round ones. Maybe with a little extra sauce. I love that crust. It's really good and can definitely go toe to toe with any pizzeria in the area. If you want to go to a great local spot that's very popular, guarantees to have something you'll like, gives you lots of good food for not a lot of money and always gives back to the community, this is the best option in the area. This place decor is pretty drab. Looks more like a mom and pop restaurant that they fix up here fix up there so things don't match quite as well they do have a lot of pool tables there in a separate side of building which is fun. My experience with their food I would rate at two maybe three stars. I don't think they have any kind of great chef there anything most of the meals are pretty generic. My last experience I had white chowder and I found 2 chunks of shell and a piece of wood. I showed them to the waitress and they refuse to take it off my bill so I haven't been there since. Called and placed an order to go. Wanted a Gyro sandwich. Sandwich only no fries. On the menu it's listed as $10.99 for sandwich only. $13.99 for a plate which includes fries. When I showed up to pick it up a little waitress said $15.11. I told her I didn't order it with fries she insisted it comes with fries. It is listed on the menu two ways and I told her so. I walked out a week later did the same thing called and ordered only sandwich no fries. I walked in waitresses to me 15 dollars and 11 cents I said to her I ordered it with no fries she said to me there are no fries in the box so she was still charging me for them even though I didn't want them I walked out again. read more

For a very reasonable price, you can get big platters filled with your heart's delight. --Egg Specials including Omelets --Pancakes and French Toasts --Breakfast Sandwiches --Breakfast Cocktails Every time I come here, the wait staff are super nice and the food is delivered lickety-split. The Belgian waffle I had last time was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The time before that I had a dish full of scrambled eggs, toast, home fries, and bacon. The potatoes were well-seasoned on the grill. Definitely my go-to in the area for the first meal of the day. They are open early morning and stay open until the wee hours. Reviewing as a gluten sensitive dairy allergic individual. This is my mother's favorite restaurant and she goes there at least 3x per week. First, the pros: Friendly, accommodating staff. This is why mother goes so often. They treat her like family. Large serving sizes of basic, but decent, food choices for the price. Lots of activities going on in the lounge weekly (music, trivia...) Even though it's a popular local place, there's usually tables available without a long wait They are willing to modify foods to meet my dining needs but that generally means really boring food. The cons: Food is run of the mill, mediocre ***As an allergy patron, I have a hard time here. They do offer gf pizza crust and gf pasta. I haven't tried either. I cannot eat cheese, so I generally don't order pizza, and I've never asked how they cook the gf pasta so not sure if it would be safe or not. I have been asking for a couple of years now when they will get up with the times and stock gf bread in the freezer and maybe a container of non-dairy milk for coffee. Neither are available currently. I have been told on a couple of occasions (once by the manager) that they well begin stocking gf bread, but it hasn't happened and I'm not holding my breath. All this leads me to believe that the staff most likely has no training with allergy dining. While I've never been seriously ill after eating here, I am very careful what I order, and there's not a lot for me to choose from. If celiac, I'd avoid. read more

The old diner feel when you walk in is great, no glitz and glam, it is what it says. The drinks were well made and our waitress was great. From what was posted for photos and some individuals I know, I was expecting a little more from the food. We ordered the nachos, macaroni and cheese, baked stuffed shrimp and fish and chips. The macaroni and cheese looked nice but was a little bland in flavor. The baked stuffed shrimp had a different taste than we are used to and it through us off a bit. It had a flavor of clove and unfortunately plenty of it. The fish and chips was tasty and flaky with nice and crispy fries. Best thing about this place is it's consistency. They are consistently bad... I figured I would give them another shot. I ordered a pizza from there for pick up. Worst pizza ever! It was disgusting! Probably the only reason this place is popular is it gets promoted by a West Warwick politician. The owners have a lot of real estate in West Warwick so they have some political pull. read more

The potion of fish was huge and the sides were also quite generous! Our server (Callie) was charming and did a great job of taking care of us. Went to breakfast with my mom on a Sunday and the place was poppin but there were seats so no wait. The service was on point and our waitress was there when needed. She made sure we had our food and answered the questions we had. The food was ok. I got an omelet and home fries and they weren't anything special. We got one of the specials and the dough bites tasted a bit stale :/ mom got the waffles on the special and they were way too sweet; the white chocolate chips were too much. This was the first time I have been back into this building since I came here to watch movies as a child. We came by to have breakfast on a Saturday morning. Our server was awesome. Very personable and attentive. Name rhymes with fryy. The ambiance was cute; diner style with banquettes and tile. Our tabletop was a little wobbly. Needs a couple of screws. We both ordered avocado toast with a side of corned beef hash. The hash was delicious. Unfortunately, the avocados were weird: firm, sliced, sour. Did not taste nice and were not spread into the toast. The toast was bread, not really toasted, and hard to cut. So, not really avocado toast. And then my sister found a hair in her food. They offered to replace her meal and comped one of the entrees. The poached eggs were weird: overcooked and in a dish that still had some of the water in it. This is a cool spot in a semi-historic building with people that are clearly working hard. They need a trained cooked, some fresh avocados and a screwdriver and they'll be good to go! read more

I always like to pop in here occasionally, like once every few years just because. I hadn't been in over 4 years and not much has changed. The vibe is still the same. I had dinner and drinks on the bar side and overall I had a decent time. My bartender Derek was attentive and fun to chat with and the margaritas he made we pretty good. My dinner came out hot and really delicious so I enjoyed that. My favorite part about the place really though is the jukebox. Anytime I can throw back margaritas while listening to non stop Morgan Wallen is where it's at for me. Overall your average bar nothing fancy but also not ghetto either. read more

As one of few restaurants in rotation for a regular stop, it pains me to have anything negative to say about the place. I don't know if I should stop ordering turkey sandwiches or the kitchen help needs some shuffling around. A plain turkey sandwich is really hard to screw up and they've managed to do it four of the past five times there. It just blows my mind. The one time they got it right was when I "cashed in" my free sandwich granted by ownership after a call to complain. Other than that, everything that usually comes on the sandwich, which I've asked not to be included, has been a part of it in some combination. It's been tomato and mayo, it's been lettuce, tomato and mayo, it's been lettuce and tomato and lastly it was mayo. Even verbally confirmed upon a recent pickup that the sandwich was plain was found to be wrong. I don't know what goes on in the kitchen, why it's so difficult to make a plain sandwich but it's gotten ridiculous. When they do it right, it's my absolute favorite menu item. Just when I thought one of my local favorites had redeemed itself, I order something the kitchen just doesn't understand how to make.
