    Gopchang's contemporary dining area

Great fun and excellent food! If you want to try K-bbq in RI this is the place. They're also unique from other K-bbq's in that they offer grilled offal (e.g. large and small intestine) in addition to usual kalbi, bulgogi, pork belly, seafood, etc for grilling. They're also unique meats are high quality and generous platters. The complimentary banchan is a little on the skimpy side but they do comprise of 6 or so assorted kimchees and namuls - and free refills of same. We shared a seafood pajeon which was very good. My wife - a non meat eater - had the seafood soup with noodles and it was excellent (she said the noodles were exceptional). My daughters and I partook of the grilled meats and 2 dishes of intestine, a marinated one and a plain). These latter are grilled table-side for you. They were unctuous and slightly chewy - and no gaminess or funkiness, so kudos to their preparation. The standard grilling is done by you unlike in traditional K-bbq like Koreatown in NYC or NJ. (I actually prefer this as it's more fun to me.). Staff and service is excellent and friendly. We'll def be back!

I visited Gopchang Story when it first opened and was excited to finally have a Korean BBQ spot in the area. On that first visit, the meat quality was good, though the side dishes were very basic, and the meats were a bit on the sweet side. We also ordered the gopchang tofu stew and steamed egg, which were both very good. Overall, I would've given that first visit 3.5 to 4 stars. When a friend asked to meet for lunch today, I suggested Gopchang Story again. We ordered the prime short rib (no marinade), and the beef quality was good, it's tender and flavorful. I also ordered a beef bulgogi to-go ($24.99 + tax), but I was really disappointed when I ate it at home. The beef was incredibly tough--one of the worst bulgogi I've had, especially surprising given how good the short rib was. For nearly $27, it felt like a letdown. After that bulgogi experience, I may wait a while before going back.

I was really dying to try this place for a while. Rhode Island is a bit of a desert when it comes to great Asian food. Could this be the Oasis? Well let's see. The interior and the exterior of the restaurant is very nicely done... plenty of parking as its on a strip mall. The parking lot is a bit odd. There are no stoppers or concrete borders that delineate the parking lot from the side walk. You have to be careful when you are looking for the exit that you dont drive off the sidewalk. Not really a Gopchange story problem but the landlord needs to adddress this. So we booked in advance and were seated in a private room. The menu is relatively extensive. They have a pretty good selection of Korean items. Nice combo deals for beef and pork are present. The cow intestines of course is on the menu as the name of the restaurant implies. We ordered combo #2 and one order of the small intestine. Our family likes to try the seafood pancake at all the Korean restaurants for a good comparison. The seafood pancake was great. Nice crispy outside . Meat quality also was pretty good. The amount given was a tad bit small compared to other spots I have been to. It was pretty much grill your self. The gopchang (cow intestines) was okay. I have had it before and I like the consistency of it but I didnt really like how it came out for a 1serving portion. It was just basically drowned out in butter and a bit too heavy. The biggest negative was the service. The servers were nowhere in sight for much of the meal. And no bowls of rice are included in the meal. Which is a first for a Korean BBQ for me. So while Gopchang Story was a decent meal none of my family thought it was worthy of a return trip. Yes they are a tough crowd. I would make a return trip to give the place one more try. But I was disappointed overall that the Yelp and Google ratings of this place didnt match my experience.

Felt like I paid for an appetizer. Ambience is cool but server couldn't really answer any of my questions no matter I'll figure it out. I got very little food for what I'm paying and beef was really fatty throughout. Needless to say I'll stick with my go to Honey Pig back home

So happy to experience a Korean Restaurant we will enjoy frequently. Wonderful food, Staff and ambience! It is great to have a place in Rhode Island that brings us the fresh flavorful Korean food. Been here 11 years and this is our 1st Korean must go to in Rhode Island.

Ooh, the japchae was delicious as well

SO happy we have a Korean BBQ spot close to home with great quality meat! No more venturing out to Boston. Been here two times so far and everything was superb from service, friendly staff, sweet owner, and delicious, delicious food! My favorite is the prime rib eye and the marinated special seasoning short rib. Goes well when you turn it into a ssam with all the unlimited side dishes they give you along with the lettuce, obviously. I also love the steamed egg. It's light and cute like a soufflé but you have to eat it hot. Their dumplings were delicious as well. We ordered the large beef platter for 2 but had a party of three and it was def more than enough food. I asked the owner if he's going to have some karaoke rooms and he said he's working on it. But not sure if he was just joking. :)

Finally, good quality k-bbq has arrived to Rhode Island. The servers are very attentive and can grill your meats and serve the stews for you. For 5 of us, we ordered the special beef combo and spicy beef brisket stew and it was the perfect amount of food. Everything tasted authentic and delicious as well. The inside is clean and spacious with k-pop playing in the background. The ventilation here is also amazing, you won't even smell like food after. I recommend!

Run, don't walk to Gopchang Story! My favorite Korean restaurant was located in Ayer, MA but Gopchang Story has it beat! The restaurant is really cool with a great atmosphere and fantastic staff. We were a little overwhelmed by the menu but the service team was quick to explain it and offer recommendations. We ordered the egg fried rice, fried dumplings, Bibimbap, and a large order of Bulgogi. The fried rice was superb and our favorite, not greasy, light on the soy sauce, lots of fresh vegetables, it was perfect! The Bibimbap was well done, so many layers of flavor, we devoured it quickly. The Bulgogi was a perfect blend of broth, vegetables, noodles, and thin tender beef- amazing! The service team was helpful, friendly, and quick, we were very impressed. Highly Recommend!

I've been to Gopchang Story twice - one during their soft opening and one on a weekday night. It's a pretty spacious location - good for small groups. Expect to pay a bit more than your usual KBBQ spot because everything is a la carte. They give a good amount of different banchans, usually used as palette cleansers in between each bite. I like to order the large intestines and cook it enough so it becomes crispy. The marinade is delicious. We also ordered pork belly which was good as well. I think the service is hit or miss. I prefer cooking my own meal, but sometimes the servers just cook for you, which creates an awkward atmosphere. I would definitely recommend to try if you like intestines.

First time here we tried the kalbi tang, steam eggs and mix gopchang. The services staff is great and attentive. Would definitely coming back again The dessert is awful they should have ice cream instead

My experience here was satisfying~ tteoboki was spicy and freshly hot and flavorful. You definitely need a side to calm the kick of the heat. Sides were a good variety and given at your table. My partner and I were seated promptly since it wasn't busy today. The whole place was clean, very stylish and built for a good drinking and food restaurant for groups~ my partner ordered the mix of gui which is different types of intestines. Usually I'm not a fan because of the texture. The meat was very flavorful, savory, and delicious! Still not a fan of the meat texture but I was able to be ok because the crispy outside meat flavor was excellent. Service was prompt and we were checked up on often. My only complaint was how awkward it was for the staff. There are new staff, who seem to be in training, and when our meats arrived, I thought it was good to eat. But a more seasoned worker apologized and started the grill and cooked the rest of the meat for us it WAS cooked, but I felt silly eating it not know it was suppose to be added to the grill. It was just confusing and awkward because the new staff was called over and told how to properly set our skillet of meat on the grill and fully cook it. They only noticed because we started to take some small pieces of meat thinking that's how it was served. The meat does come partially cooked! It just added to the grill to fully crisp up and stay hot. It seemed like staff was also talked too, near/in front of us, to give us more water or spoons. I don't mind new staff, but I definitely felt awkward. I need to come again and give it another try with other meat selections! This is on the pricer end but worth the taste and value for a date night

    Marinated Assorted Gui

Rating: 4.0 New Korean restaurant opened up in a plaza near my area so I decided to try it after a while. It's a Korean restaurant based on beef intestines BBQ which are rare around the area. Since it's on a plaza the parkings are available. Inside the place is spacious and playing K pop in the back ground with music video on a large screen which is pretty typical of Korean restaurant. It wasn't too busy so we were sat down immediately. The menu is extensive and they offer some typical Korean dishes like bibimbap, tteokbokki, kimchi soup, regular cuts of meat for BBQ as well as beef tartar, goochang and gui. They also provide alcoholic drinks. We ended up getting gopchang tteokbokki, tripe and goochang fried rice, and marinated assorted gui so we can try out their main offerings. They start you off with small side dishes of some kimchi, potato salad, pickled radish and such. They were all pretty good. Then comes the main dishes. Fried rice was pretty good and full of gochujang flavor and had some egg that you can mix up around the mount of fried rice. Tteokbokki was pretty standard. Sweet and spicy with fish cakes and rice cake mixed with the gopchang. The marinated assorted gui was very tasty. Sweet, savory and spicy. Intestines are very chewy and fatty. I think it's niche and not everyone likes the texture but those that do will love it. Personally i'm not too crazy about intestines but it was still enjoyable. The service was generally good but seems like the server was still pretty new and forgot to set up the marinated assorted gui on the grill and heat it up prior to eating among few other things like forgetting utensils and pen for the check. Who looks like the owner or manager older Korean lady was scolding the staff which was a bit awkward to look at. The older lady was very nice to us and kind of reminded me of typical asian mother. The prices were definitely on the higher side. Overall the place was good and I enjoyed the food but I don't know if I liked gopchang enough to order again as it's a bit difficult to eat especially in a-lot of portion and I think I prefer regular meat. Down side is that the price was on the higher side and probably needs some more time to train their staff. Since it's close I would return and try other options in the menu.

This place is amazing! First time trying gopchang story franchise and was hesitant at first because i dont like gopchang but was shocked they had so much more to offer other than gopchang. It was a legit korean bbq w quality meat. Their kalbi was so so good even my kids that dont love meat was obsessed. The meat was tender and soft w perfect amount of sweet marinade. The place gives wide range of small side dishes that were also very authentic and freshly made. Their steam egg and side dwenjanjjigae was delicious as well. The staff is very attentive to the meat while cooking and they were very prompt about switching out the grill. We love the cold noodles at the end it was refreshing yet savory w nice portions. Highly recommend if you are looking for authentic korean bbq experience. They have private rooms in the back for larger parties, ample amount of parking and extra plus was they had many high chairs.

First of all, Sun & Moon feels like a home-y Korean restaurant. The owners are Korean and I'd come here when I crave Korean food. I will caveat that it's not necessarily the best Korean food I've ever had, but it's probably the most authentic you'd be able to get in Providence. The vegetable pancake was surprisingly really good - crispy around the edges, right amount of veggie to it. This one I would recommend - it's legit. I've also had the knife cut noodles which is pretty good, but different than the kind I normally get at other Korean restaurants -this one is more seafood forward which is usually not the case at other Korean restaurants. The spicy rice cakes were a bit mid - I would skip out on them next time. The rice cakes didn't have a good chewy texture and they were quite pricy too. The tonkatsu was actually pretty good, so when I got the tonkatsu udon, I was expecting that too be good as well, but the udon was way too salty and had too much MSG flavor, so I couldn't finish it. Overall, cute little place to come when craving Korean food. Menu is huge and not everything is a hit on the menu, but if you know what to order, you'll hit your craving. Parking is street only!
